The range now properly matches the tool-tip since it has been bugged since pre-launch. Note that there are a large amount of Thief players who cry out that this was a blatant mega-over-the-top-WTF-Anet-nerf and not just a long overdue bugfix (a trait that it shared with the old Flanking Strike, which everybody hated).

Thief is blatantly overpowered in WvW, but little more than a minor annoyance in PvP. I would go as far as to say many things in PvP require a buff when considering a Thief.
The only thing that Thieves can do in WvW is cap supply camps, burst down bads, and run away from fights that they’re losing; obviously you’re one of the former.
Oh look, it’s one of those Thieves.
If you actually need me to explain why Thieves are WAY more useful/stronger than any other class in WvW, then you need to honestly rethink your class. In PvP, they suck, and I doubt you could even scratch me in it, since I doubt you’re any good. In WvW, they dominate. A group of skilled Thieves can, as I have seen it, wear down a zerg to virtually nothing over time.

Revealed is now 4 seconds in sPvP for literally no reason whatsoever other than constant whinging. The only reason it’s not 4 seconds everywhere is that they screwed over PvE Thieves even more than PvP/WvW Thieves and they had to revert it in PvE/WvW.

Thief already works exactly how it should with the exception of our damage being too low on some attacks. Seriously, leave the kittening class alone and go kitten about something else for once in your kitten lives.
I’ve been playing a Thief since BWE1 and surprise surprise, I can counter stealth on ANY of my characters because I know how to kittening play the game and counter what is one of the most predictable mechanics in the game. Seriously, you people just won’t stop until Thief is deleted.

I hope focus and other magic weapons stay out of the thief options. IMO, dark arts magic is the necro area…
From a lore point of view we use the same branch of magic used by Mesmers which is “denial” magic. I see no reason that we couldn’t get some sort of shadow step and stealth on an off-hand scepter, although it could be pretty OP with IS on main hand sword and a shadow step on off hand scepter… just a thought though.

This should work well enough, tweak it as you deem fit.
The idea behind having mug is that you can hit basi or dev, swap to S/P, begin PW and just as the stun strike hits mug to them for a burst. I used to run something similar s/tPvP with less acrobatics and more deadly arts and be able to burst anyone down quite well thanks to mug.
Just remember not to dodge during unload or you’ll cancel it.

Record it (even your laptop will be able to record it, trust me) and upload it to YouTube and we’ll believe you.

Replacing it with a Divinity rune will give you maximum damage in sPvP, but I’m not sure if that’s better than a Ruby Orb in WvW… tbh, I’ve never really understood why people don’t just go for Ruby Orbs x6…

old mug was ridiculous up to 7k damage+stun opener (if thief used poison) ensured the target was either 1 backstab away from death or 1 backstab+whatever skill away from death.
for the record Dodge roll>Static discharge whereas Mug= Instant+longer range
and you’d have to land 3 crits on all SD shots for them to crit higher than mug.
Don’t go exagerating numbers from WvW, mug did no where near that much damage.

Ignore Daecello, he still spams the forum with OP balance suggestions, so nothing has changed from him.
Not a lot of major nerfs have occurred besides 4s reveal in sPvP for no reason and Mug no longer crits. Flanking Strike (S/D #3) was fixed and buffed and is now an excellent weapon set, all signet passives now give 180 instead of 90 to stats, and D/P builds have become the new meta.
Don’t think I missed anything huge.

Alright, since you’re apparently serious, allow me to answer in order:
- 1: Thieves are fine in Dungeons, they can apply strong DPS and it’s the only place where P/P can actually shine, providing high DPS and blindness from 900 range.
- 2: S/D Thieves are very strong in PvP
- 3: Thieves are fine in PvE
- 4: Stealth based Thieves can actually survive for a long time in Zergs, and are fine.
- 5: Good Thieves cannot be killed in WvW, and deliver 12k+ crits from backstab.
All of your QQ happen to be l2p issues.
I can’t be bothered addressing your other points right now, but for #5, don’t lie and exaggerate the numbers like that. I’ve got 110% crit damage and HK traited and I rarely hit above 5-6k on a fully geared 80.

There was nothing you could’ve done and the thief is the only profession that can do this. That’s why people are all up in arms about them.
Yet the fix is very simple.
Stealth is a very powerful game mechanic, especially when you can pop in and out throughout a fight and while in stealth you have at least half a dozen benefits.

SR should be an ambush skill. For use out of combat only.

autoattack with 1-chain. if it hits an enemy in stealth, it will proceed to the second skill in the chain and you will know you’ve found an enemy.

I believe that there should be a mechanic to penalize long-duration stealth for thieves.
- Don’t lie, a telltale sign of a bad QQing because they got roflstomped by a Thief is a QQ thread that suggests stupidly idiotic nerfs while claiming to be a Thief main.
- A Thief in stealth is doing literally nothing besides running around doing no damage. A Thief could be stealthed for 10 straight minutes in GW2 and would still be perfectly balanced.

Please, for the love of Grenth, do not pay any attention to any of the posts that say that the Thief is overpowered, heading for nerfsville, or on the other end of the spectrum, weak, underpowered, useless, being destroyed in every patch.
None of that is true, and the only way to really show you this is to suggest that you roll a Thief and try it out for yourself. If you like the sneaky rogue archetype then you’ll love the Thief, and despite what everyone will tell you, they’re neither OP nor severely UP. They could use some buffs in some areas, but other than that, it’s a very enjoyable class that can still be played very successfully.

Why the hell would you use D/P in PvE in dungeons? You’re doing crap damage in comparison to a D/D CnD > BS > AA > repeat chain.

If you just want straight out glass cannon DPS then go for full berserker armour/weapons/trinkets with 25/30/0/0/15.
Rotation: CnD, backstab, auto-chain, repeat until less than 25% health then spam HS until opponent is dead (as long as you can finish them off with all of those heartseekers, if you can’t then keep CnD BS chaining).
Use your Shortbow to clusterbomb/trick shot when unable to be in melee range.

Re-read the posts, you’re not being told one thing and then told another. Here’s the facts, ignore whatever else you’re being told that contradicts these things:
- Unless the Thief was hacking, they were not immune to any damage.
- If he was coming out of stealth for a very short duration of time (definitely less than the 3 second revealed duration time) then he was most likely using a dagger off hand and using dagger #5 Cloak and Dagger which does a half-decent amount of damage and puts the Thief in stealth for 3 seconds (4 if traited).
- If this is what he was doing then the fact that you were finally able to catch him via CC is exactly how it should have played out and now you know for next time to CC him sooner.
- While doing this his damage is pitiful and actually managing to kill AND stomp anyone would be a miracle.
Hope I cleared that up for you.

I can’t believe that you’re still going around insisting that you’re some amazing player and that your build is unique and the best overall build for Thieves to use.
Like I said in the other thread, aside from trait allocation, your build is nothing special, and neither is your gameplay. It’s a standard P/D bleed build with a CnD > Sneak Attack > VS > VS > CnD > REPEAT rotation with caltrops and/or venoms.
Nothing about that is original, and it’s most definitely not the best overall build for Thieves by any objective standard. If, in your opinion, it’s the best overall Thief build then that’s fine, but quit claiming that you’ve come across some indestructible build. Your build is mildly difficult to take down in WvW, but only for those who don’t carry condition removal and/or don’t know how to dodge your CnD.
Also, despite your claims, this build is absolutely useless in a tPvP setting because you will never be able to neutralise a point or defend one against any half-decent player.
Finally, your comment about playing in T2 is pretty fun, I play in T1 on BG and SoR/JQ are both full of bads and upscaled players that are easy as kitten to 1vX against. That isn’t to say that BG doesn’t have them, because we do, but that every server has them no matter what tier you’re in.

Firstly, never apologise for bad English, yours is excellent and better than a LOT of people who speak it natively. Anyone who tries to attack you for your English is an ignorant kitten.
Secondly, I don’t think that putting poisons on our F-bar is the best idea, but I’m all for changing F1 to a steal + shadow step ability with return and F2 to using the stolen item.

That being said, I do think that Aegis, invulns, blinds, blocks, and dodges should all cause revealed so that an enemy is rewarded for successfully countering a stealth attack.
