Reading is hard…
EB
Red keep will only have wp for red
Blue keep will only have wp for blue
Green keep will only have wp for green
SM wp will need to be upgraded and any side that gets it t3 can use it.Example: Green BL
The closest southern tower to red spawn (redbriar) will only have wp for red
The closest southern tower to blue spawn (bluebriar) will only have wp for blue
The Green Garrison will only have wp fo green.
I missed a section of the stream because I had to get my daughter from the bus stop but Dulfy has it posted as, “On borderland maps, the two side keep waypoints would move to the two southern towers.”
As stupid an idea as that is it still makes a lot more sense than only giving the enemy servers southern WP’s on your BL that are also in spitting distance of their spawn. Of course at this point I won’t put any bad idea’s past them.
LGN
Can’t deny that it’s too much, either the damage needs to be toned down, or the range needs to be reduced to 1200. 1500 via the trait is more than most classes can deal with.
Even engineers are having their range reduced on grenades, albeit they were kittene at that range anyway.
^ Perfect example of why it’s so easy to argue against people calling for a nerf to rangers. His argument boils down to “it’s too much because I say so”
Looking forward to seeing y’all post examples of longbow ranger’s dominating higher tier PvP, and how they are the reason certain teams are pulling out wins.
LGN
I think they said they are putting them in the southern towers which is absolutely idiotic since the enemy will be able to keep them contested 24/7 by doing something cheesy like a treb in range of the legendary defenders, sending out siegerazor umpteen times in a row, or just running up and tapping since it is 2 ft from their spawn and you can flat out ignore tower guards.
The waypoints are only for the server with the closest spawn. So Redbriar will only have a waypoint for red, etc.
That’s in EB, not the BL’s
LGN
We all knew from day one what to expect when jumping into WvW. And ANet has also been very clear (from day one) that WvW is balanced together with PVE.
Which you know, still doesnt really explain away the guard stacks. There are no guard stacks in PvE last time I checked.
Those were added to WvW later. But it was still in keeping with the general theme that they gave you more options on how you could customize your builds in WvW (many players actually created builds around Guard stacks) compared to vanilla PVP.
Which is exactly why it shouldnt even be in the game. Builds are supposed to be built around the professions themselves, not specific boons or buffs. Same reason why certain food is considered OP, or certain runes. Also same reason why such things has even been nerfed. Remember the omnomberries? There was only one food in the meta originally. Its like being presented with a popup as soon as you enter WvW. “Would you like to have more power and vitality? If so, click yes. If not, click no”. I’d like to hear your reasoning for clicking no.
If they really “need” these stacks, then just increase base character stats. Boom done. Increased in PvE, increased in PvP. Same for everyone. No silly guard stacks specific to WvW.
They aren’t preventing any kind of power creep, they are just removing the only one that was WvW based. People that PvE, or craft can still come in with legendaries and ascended gear/weapons. They can have unique food buffs/utilities, runes and sigils that you can’t get from WvW. Hell, you can get strength, toughness and regen boosters if you are willing to spend money on black lion keyes.
Why remove the one that WvW players had to work for and let PvE players keep their stat advantage?
LGN

This also makes keeps about a thousand times less valuable. Why bother going through the trouble of busting a T3 keep if there isn’t a WP to cut off? The reason keeps are valuable is because the WP’s give you a tactical advantage on the map.
They need to fire whoever is coming up with these changes, they are completely out of touch with WvW.
LGN
Well they did tell us that you automatically get a wp in your own keeps and you can’t wp an enemies… So basically RIP strategy and keep the karma train rolling, eotm 2.0 sounds so new and exciting!
How is it fun to just get a WP close to the enemy spawn and just stand around there stopping them from even going out?

It’s a lot of fun when you are on similar sized servers and you spend the day constantly fighting over an enemy keep ( I usually do this in a BL) and getting supply into it while they do everything they can to gt it back. It leads to endless fights where we are normally outnumbered but have the keep’s walls to do hit and run attacks from.
But you are missing the bigger issue. When you are fighting a server that is near equal or stronger than you, busting their WP is extremely important to gain a tactical advantage on a map. This is the reason WP’s have always been T3 upgrades.
What is the point in spending hours trying to starve a keep of supply and making coordinated efforts to bust WP’s if they can immediately get them back? People are just going to avoid them and K-Train the easy structures.
LGN
It still there, you have to adapt to the change, as with any strategy, and find the weakness and the strength for you and your team and for the enemy.
How long have you been playing WvW exactly?
only at rank 112, so like 3ish month. I started in the edge of the mist, and then moved to the normal one, cause I found it to be more fun. More so, when there different things my partner and I can do on our own, and sometimes when we find a group to join. I know I am not the best player, but I do try to keep the camps my color and we take the time for the sentry too, and this new system kinda works for our strength, of keep the supplies lines open, while other take the keeps and towers and such. Who knows how we might have to change, but I feel this system is a nice step going forward, it bringing a new spark to the wvw, and with the 4 maps, keeping everyone busy too, might be a interesting shift and change, and time will tell.
On paper atm this idea may not appeal to lot of you but take a step back and try to see the good of it too, and even if it still does not appeal to you, that fine, but let all not try to act like this is the end either.
You haven’t had any real experience with the current system, that’s why you can’t tell how bad this change is. People have been proposing better systems since the games release, anet instead decided to implement a lazy poorly thought out idea that promotes passive play and k-trains.
LGN

I play ranger, but its not my main class.
I don’t see how you can all defend this longbow spec so much.
It’s pretty easy, we just put forth valid arguments of why it isn’t too powerful as opposed to the poorly constructed arguments that the ranger haters come up with.
LGN
Because the c&d back stab is almost instant as opposed to chaining several skills together. It also leaves you with more initiative for follow up hits. I ran the signet version the other night and was kitten near 1 shotting squishy targets.
LGN
D/P is more versatile, D/D has a bigger burst, there is nothing wrong with it. Also there is nothing stopping you from running both sets, yeah you’ll lose the utility of the shortbow but you’ll be very strong 1v1.
LGN
It still there, you have to adapt to the change, as with any strategy, and find the weakness and the strength for you and your team and for the enemy.
How long have you been playing WvW exactly?
LGN
I think the real problem here is that D/D has become obsolete on thief which really should be a fundamental weapon set.
I run D/P and well yeah rangers, if I lose to one its my fault.
But D/D lacks so much utility and defense that its steadily becoming obsolete.
I will admit, the only time rangers are a problem is in team fights where I will be putting myself in the most horrible situation taking them out as they hide behind so many people.
This argument makes no sense. Rangers are one of the easiest classes for d/d thieves because you can c&d off the pet.
LGN
Am I in the WvW section or the PvP section? How much do you really think the longbow range really helps in PvP?
And for those of you complaining about getting shot with rapid fire from 2000 range while being caught in entangle and cc’d by the pet….. You are either a liar or an idiot.
The pet leash range isn’t nearly that good since it was nerfed a couple years ago and entangle’s range is 600. If you have a ranger in 600 range of you and you are dying to him then he is a better player than you and you need to accept that. Quit making excuses for getting outplayed.
- Range doesn’t really matter
- You can’t run up to a ranger get feared by wolfie and entangled
- Ranger can’t walk back and pewpew you. Either that or you are idiot, fact!
- If you are within 600 range and dying to a ranger. The ranger was a pro player. Hard build takes much skill.
- No comments on stone signet or ranger downstate.Sincerely,
Jim HUNTER, the longbow carrier
So what you are saying is you have trouble avoiding huge telegraphs while closing the distance on a back pedaling ranger… Maybe PvE is a little more your speed.
Exactely, should I dodge the tontruck-hitting longrange shot, or should I save my dodges for fears, knockbacks, interrupt, entangle, rapid fire?
And when I do get there, should I dodge Hunters Shot? In which he could safely hide Entangle. Or should I wait for his Maul and wtf do I know what?
When I do finally manage to get there, should I run as he uses Stone Signet?
To be serious, of course I know how to handle a Longbow ranger. But can’t you see how effective this build is for a truck hitting long range build? Too effective if you ask me.
Or you could use 1 of the many other counters to ranged damage in this game such as blocks, reflects, evades, etc. you could also just pop stability to ignore his cc all together.
You aren’t fighting a 6,6,6,6,6 ranger with every utility and elite on his skill bar. Use your brain to figure out what he is running. Depending on what he brings he will be extremely vulnerable to cc’s or condi’s. If he is running a more balanced build to make up for these weaknesses he won’t be doing the damage y’all are crying about.
In PvP you should either be on a sustainy build that can soak up some of his damage or on a bursty build that needs to know how to close the gap and burst him down before he can do it to you. Even necro’s don’t have the room to complain about ranger’s in PvP because you shouldn’t be engaging them 1v1 unless you can LoS them or get the drop on them.
And if you are going to make statements like this, “To be serious, of course I know how to handle a Longbow ranger.” then what are you kittening about? If you want to complain about broken specs maybe you should focus your attention on some of the cele cheese classes.
LGN
then what about using the traps for starving supplies or the upgrade to one of the weapon i read when t remove supplies?
Doesn’t help when you have a zerg running around on your bl flipping camps to build golems. More options>less options
As i said, I do not know wvw 100% like some of you might, but if they want to waste thier supplies building one golem that the camp offer, what to stop the enemy team from destorying that before they can build it, or get it to the target, or other things?
Not all of us run around in packs of 30+. Draining camps ahead of an enemy zerg is something that roamers and havockers like to do. You aren’t going to stack your 1-5 man group and push a 40 man zerg.
For the record I do use supply traps, I probably went through about 25 this week while harassing enemy zergs. If I’m in a tower or keep that is about to be lost and can’t be drained through upgrades I will build as much kmart siege in the supply depot as I can before the door breaks.
Yes these options will still exist but why remove the ability to affect camps when they could just as easily make it so you manually start camp upgrades but without the gold cost?

I personally use this when I want to tank:
You’re tanky while still allowing others to put strong regen on you.
A few questions.
Why are you using bloodlust sigils on both weapons? Why use natural healing without compassion training?
Why spec that far into beastmastery at all if you’re not running a dps pet when you could go down the nature magic line for nature’s voice which would give you a higher regen and perma swiftness?
Oh and why the untraited longbow? It’s kind of worthless with no crit chance, crit damage, or traits.
-I use bloodlust for more power. I feel tanky enough without having to sacrifice all of my DPS. Bloodlust helps scale my power, and thus my sustain, to the max. I use it on both my weapons so I can gain that passive as quickly as possible, without having to worry about which weapon I’m getting kills with. The healing sigil can be swapped with whatever you want, by the way.
-The buff to Natural Healing from Compassion Training is minimal (from my experience). You can use it if you like. Builds aren’t meant to be set in stone.
-It’s true the longbow is much weaker than it is on most other Rangers, but that’s because this builds doesn’t have you camping it. The greatsword sees the most use. Longbow is just there to provide sustain while you fight something at range and to provide synergy with your greatsword. Ranged and melee weapons are meant to be swapped to a fro as combat demands it.
My rotation usually involves LB 2, 4, 3, 5 — do what needs to be done on GS as combat demands it (i.e. hitting with maul as often as possible, blocking projectiles and avoiding burst with counterattack, gapclosing and evading with swoop, and interrupting the opponent’s flow with hiltbash; all while giving your regen a chance to work with the evades on auto). When most of your GS skills are on CD, you can swap to longbow to set up more vulnerability, knock your opponent back, give your pet swiftness, and lay down a crippling area-denile barrage from the safety of stealth. You may have to auto once or twice, but then you can come back into greatsword with a hampered foe.
I think you misunderstood, I understand why you you use a bloodlust sigil I just don’t understand why you put it on both weapons. You only need it on 1 of the weapons to get the benefit from it. You are basically wasting a sigil and there are plenty you could add to improve your build, doom, intelligence, energy, etc.

+5 days. still there. FIXIT!
more like + 2 years
hint: post is 5 days old….
hint the bug has been here since the dawn of gw2
people have been asking for this fix for a long time now, nothing here u mentioned is new
hint#2 everyone knows this && about the bug. topic is for keeping it in the face of the devs.
hint#3 everyone knows that everyone knows this except the devs
The devs still need to see this topic on the top of the pvp forums (they probably never visit these forums), so they can experience the agony that 0.01% of the gw2 community is going trough. Because the other 99.99% is abusing this intentionally, or by mistake.
Hint #4 the dev’s are far to busy putting up scaffolding in LA to worry about game breaking bugs that have been in the game since launch. Don’t hold your breath waiting for this to be fixed.

Are you looking to solo or group roam? What is your normal play time?
In my experience in T1-3 solo roamers were almost non existent, the smallest groups were 5-10. T4-6 have a decent amount of solo roamers but the number drops off during NA prime when people start running in groups. T7-8 has a lot of solo roamers that are on all hours of the day, during off hours you may have to flip a few things to get their attention.
I’m currently in T6 on AR and we’ve had some great roaming action from IoJ this week. We’ll likely move to T5 tonight and hopefully be pared against EBay who always gives some great roaming and small scale fights. I personally have found T4-6 to offer the best mix of solo, small scale, and havocking and to be the most fun. T7 might be better if you are always roaming solo.
LGN
Are camps automatically upgrading too? Does this mean I can no longer run in front of an enemy zerg to start an upgrade and drain a camp in order to starve their supply? RIP strategy in this game…
LGN
and at the expense of something that’s already okay
According to who? You? ANet seems to disagree.
Since when has Anet known or cared about what is good for WvW? Let’s keep in mind some of their most recent additions were golem mastery and siege disablers. Every change they make is geared towards turning WvW into as much of a K-train for casuals as eotm is.
LGN
I bet it drives them nuts trying to figure out what you are running. Looks fun, great use of your water field.
LGN
i hate power creep. dont listen to this guy. get rid of the stupid stacks.
.
This doesn’t remove power creep, it just removes a buff that could only be achieved through playing WvW.
How many new things have been added to the game that you could only get through crafting, PvEing or the gemstore?
Things like the strength, armor, and rejuvination booster. Ascended gear, certain runes, sigils, food, utility, etc.
Even some of the common stats like Dire can’t be purchased through the WvW armor vendor, they are something you have to buy on the TP or go out of WvW to get.
This is a bad change. It hurts the players that only play the game for WvW.
LGN
I still say, once it comes out and we can see it in action better, some of you may like it, heck, I might dislike it once I see it, but so far a lot of these updates to wvw, is making me more interested in doing wvw again.
Anet is too slow to reverse bad decisions, especially in WvW which always seems to be an afterthought to them.
This is one of the things that should have been tested out the same way the PPK and removal of white swords was. Do you guys remember the whole month that new ideas were tested out?

you don’t know what your talking about.
You made some excellent points in that valid and well thought out counter argument. Keep up the good work!
LGN
That would be awesome but I’d settle for the skill not screwing up when running on uneven terrain. Nothing worse than trying to run from a zerg and stopping for a full second before doing the second part of the leap.
LGN
yeah, nice ‘balance’ will we see the gold cost of ascended reduced to make it available to new players too? you know, to make sure noobs don’t have lower stats.
Ascended armor and weapons were a much worse addition to WvW than stacks were. You earned your stacks through playing WvW, that’s why they belong there. Being able to craft higher stats is stupid.
Or be insanly lucky with drops, so far that one isnt working out for me
You mean you aren’t happy with all that cleric gear that loves to drop in WvW?
LGN
This is a great thing, power creep roaming has been out of control in WvW. Honestly if they removed food, utility buffs and stacking sigils, it would get even better and likely you would see less people staying in the safety of the zerg.
I jumped from WvW to PvP and PvP is so much more balanced and a real challenge.
The dumbed down stats in PvP are a big part of the reason why cele specs are so strong. There isn’t a power creep in WvW, there is just higher stats which adds a wider variety of viable builds.
Yeah but the cele amulet is getting a nerf in PvP. And there are still plenty of full zerk classes running in PvP, I go up against them daily. Im one of them.
I also can say, in WvW I can almost one shot people as a thief, in PvP I cant and I have to fight.
WvW its all about who gets the first hit, no extended fighting and real fighting as it is in PvP.
Then you are fighting zerglings or brand new players. Look for the roamers and duelists. I had a 1v1 yesterday that lasted at least 10 minutes before I finally killed the guy.
I’ve even had fights where my opponent and I were both full zerk that lasted a few minutes because we would kite and evade.
I’ve never gotten a fight that good in PvP because the game mode isn’t about fighting, it’s about holding points. The zerk players avoid 1v1 and the sustainy players just focus on disputing the point until their teammates can rotate to them.

Even with zerk weapons your damage will be non existent. Being tanky isn’t going to do you any good if you can’t kill anything.
Maybe consider mixing some dire and apothocary gear for a tanky condi build, or change your traits for a beastmaster build.
Here is a tanky build I made for running in the frontline of a zerg, with a few tweaks it works pretty well for havock/roaming as well. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQNBHhFakRl+VbYxiFuWDQIULDg3tdLUspgzkoGS5IZhtIA-T1CEwAQOEAtU/xpyjf7PsVJohTAQTlYt1EU5BA0RPAgjAApASZoF-w
LGN
Don’t you need yak though to get supplies into the base. without them, turtling wont help if you have no supplies for repair or building defenses?
Nope. You just run a group to a camp and drain the supply and then go back and build/repair.
When I’m upgrading or sieging up structures I never touch the supply inside. That supply is there for upgrades and to have supply on hand if we need to defend.
If they implement this change without a solution to how it will affect nightcapping they are going to kill a bunch of servers.
LGN
Well, you know.
They are adding a new PVE dinosaur-fueled god gun to the new map that breaks down all outer gates. Maybe this is Anet’s way of balancing one unnecessary garbage mechanic with another?
Ugh why did you have to bring that up… I had almost convinced myself that stupid idea was a nightmare I had.
LGN
That “small strike team” is legit crap. Ive had countless scenarios where even if we out number the enemy they just suicide themselves to kill a yak and we cant really do anything but watch. Until they add the dolyak escort buff I like these changes.
So because players that you outnumber outplayed you the game should be dumbed down and made easier for the server with more numbers and better coverage….
This kid thinks you legit get outplayed if they can kill squishy yak from you. You have jokes.
This kid doesn’t know how to use superior numbers and cc to stop someone from killing a yak.
Learn that there are more buttons on your skill bar than the auto attack…Realistically, you’re often not going to have too many people around a particular yak when the enemy is hankering to kill it. That, and it really doesn’t take a whole lot to take it down, so even if you manage to immobilize them they could still possibly stun-break and kill the yak. They will die in the process, but they know that.
Not saying it’s impossible to do, far from it, but the Yaks should be more like mini-bosses than a random enemy. They are very easy to kill.
They’ve already said they will be making it tougher to kill yaks, but a yak being defended by a good player isn’t as easy to kill as people try to make it sound. Escorting yaks isn’t fun to do but it is a very important job when you are working on upgrades.
This is just another change that gives even more of an advantage to the servers with better coverage and a higher population.
LGN
Ok how does say a guardian war and ranger magically stop a thief plus mesmer from killing a yak?
Ranger slots sic ‘em to reveal either target, and uses PBS, wolf cc, and rapid fire to take out thief while guardian and war bounce the mesmer around with hammers, or if it’s a medi guard he can cc and burst the mesmer down while it’s revealed.
I just realized I’m responding to a braindead zerger, nvm this argument is going nowhere.

the difference is that upgrading now requires supply camps and cash, so people aren’t eager to spend 20g a night just to try to upgrade stuff, now not only the money gate is gone, but small strike teams won’t be able to stall upgrades anymore (since it will upgrade even when there are no dollies coming in)
^ someone gets it.
LGN
Wow… I can’t believe everyone in this thread got the answer wrong.
Clearly the only correct answer is to have one of every race.
But if you’re going to be a weirdo and only have 1 ranger you should go with Asuran for the option of running the technobabble/moment of clarity build.
LGN
so as ele i’m gonna lose 125 vit from trait loss, (running 4 in water atm) and losing 225 power. losing another 100 power from removal of applied strength and 250 vit from applied fortitude. gonna need to compensate the loss of vitality by adding extra vitality on my armor so gonna lose another 375 offensive stats, so in the end: -325 power-475 offensive stats.
Yes lets make evry1 hit like a wed noodle, WVW is way to hard!. luckily we don’t have to bother anymore with sieging up/supplies anymore either, it’s so hard to apply tactics in wvw you know!
It looks like Anet is trying evrything to get rid of gw2 and start playing black desert when they do the western release…..
Anet has already said that stat points lost from traits will be made up for increased base stats and increased stats on armor.
Eventually they’ll move to the same stupid amulet system used in PvP so min maxing will be completely dead… yay!
LGN
I like this update to the upgrades. Makes the game more enjoyable without taking anything strategic away.
What? Deciding when and in what order to upgrade structures is always a strategic decision. Depending on the strategies of the servers you are fighting and what kind of defense your own server is using you might choose to rush the WP before upgrading doors or walls.
This was another kitten decision. They should have just given us an option to purchase upgrades with karma or badges.
LGN
So if you are on a server without a night crew look forward to waking up to your bl being fully upgraded by an enemy server…. Yay!
If they are going to do this they really need to bring back the “no white swords” thing or make upgrades take twice as long in enemy bl’s during off hours.
LGN
What a stupid change. A big part of what makes WvW fun is coming up with new builds and min maxing them to make them effective. Removing stats from traits and WvW buffs is just dumbing down the game even more. Not all of us enjoy the restrictions imposed by PvP amulets.
LGN
ELITE SPECIALIZATIONS tend to be built to improve on an area that the class is lacking in or has as a weakness.
I wish that were true but judging by the reaper specialization for necro I think they are just trying to add something gimicky that looks or sounds cool. Slow attacks aren’t going to make them any more desirable in PvE, and their lack of mobility still screws them in PvP/WvW roaming. But hey, at least they’ll look cool while getting decimated by rangers.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve had teammates complaining about me being a ranger, but I’ve gotten buckets of salty tears from players on the opposing team. It’s usually from players that are so bad they can’t even tell what weapons I am using and say something stupid like “pew pew some more nub” when I am running sword and axe.
