Please remove these tonics from wvw. There is no point in having them in wvw in the first place, and some of them, specifically the mummy tonic grant an unfair advantage in wvw in that when chasing an opponent down or running away, you can quickly transform into a mummy and use the dash skill – cancel the tonic and reactivate a new one, and do it again. Giving you an unlimited use 800 yard dash which is actually an unfair advantage.

Clarion Bond uses call of the wild, a warhorn skill which is also a Blast Finisher, the problem is that the Blast Finisher is not proccing in Combo Fields and thus the Blast Finisher isn’t working.

Update: this seems to be only true in the smokescale pets Smoke Cloud ability which generates a combo field: smoke

No it’s not you OP there are less players. I see way less groups being organized in lfg for meta events. I see way less fractal groups and raids being organized during prime time.

Spvp is also taking a hit as I encounter the same people over and over again in matches.

wvw is also fairly deserted on my server blackgate. If you play on off hours almost every map shows that we are outnumbered. This was never the case about 1 year ago.

also top tier items on the TP are taking a hit such as legendaries and other expensive items indicating there is less demand – probably from less people playing. At least I know I’m not selling anything and I flip mostly these items.

probabily due to wow legion coming out. Or possibly that people don’t like MMO’s anymore I dunno.

So my problem is that I bought 2 copper fed salvage o-matics and 2 silver fed salvage o-matics (before shared inventory slots came out). Now that there is shared inventory slots, I always put both types of salvage kits in 2 of my shared inventory slots, thus rendering the additional copper/silver fed salvage o-matic useless as they just sit in my bank now.

Would be really nice if there was a way in game, to turn gem store items into an NPC to get a full gem refund on items you don’t want. Even a partial refund, say 25-50% of the gem value would suffice, since shared inventory slots have changed quite a bit of the games mechanics. With shared inventory slots implemented, I would of never initially purchased 2 sets of both types of salvage o-matics.

Hands down got to be RIFLE! It’s not used by anyone except warrior and engineer (2/9 classes) and there are currently no meta builds in either sPVP, PvE, Raids, or WvW which use it.

Last time it was used was season 2 sPvP warrior gun flame build – now obsolete

Thief Rifle elite spec would of addressed this. Make Rifle Great again Anet FeelsBadMan

gotta love staff though everyone gets a staff – necro, thief, ranger, guardian, mesmer, elementalist, revenant, that’s 7/9 classes ggwp

Raids on GW2 is far from gimmick, and if you want you can pug VG any day. And seeing your tone on this post, i’m sure this is a player behavior problem, not an entry raid problem.

You can complete the raids with any build pretty much, so half of your argument is void from the very beginning; going to ignore half of what you said because you don’t even have a clue.

I’ve joined and completed raid encounters on another account without having to show any exp at all, so again, something unique to you.

I don’t really know what else to say.

I keep getting players in my group who lose, so You must be god since you can control how others play, or you multibox all other players accounts? or your prob playing w/exp players already. I believe you when you say that other players can complete it w/any build. But in LFG ppl want specific builds and they won’t take you unless you have exactly what they want. (i never said the content was hard, i could prob solo the bosses w/a stick if i was allowed too) Its the human matchmaking aspect that is the problem, how does one get w/said EXP players w/out a ton of pain and grief?

I also like that the only thing you quoted was that I HAVE NO LI’s therefore i must not KNOW wHAT IM TALKING ABOUT right? even though i have all this crap:

there is no way for anyone to know that I’ve done any of these things. I get a litany of crap from people saying – go get a training run, which is a joke because half the people who show up are lost or don’t care about beating the content. and exp groups won’t take me because I have no LI’s so catch 22 right there. Then I get asked to make my own group, which is tantamount to saying why don’t i just form my own guild – which I don’t want to do, its way too time consuming for such little pay off. Would be nice if there was some way to make this process easier.

I also don’t like that such a casual game (which is why i somewhat liked it) decided to make raid content that is ultra gimmicky. Bring X builds or you run out of time or are one shot by some mechanic because you didn’t bring X. THAT’S NOT DIFFICULTY. that’s a gimmick. Difficulty is like playing a game like binding of issac. Random elements that are just difficult to handle and you have to adapt spur of the moment. That’s difficulty. Make a boss where 99% of the floor is fire and only 1% isnt and it moves around fairly quickly – THATS HARD, no class would give u an advantage to that just pure movement and reflexes. Instead we get ZERK only meta, oh CONDI meta only on this part, oh need healer blah blah blah. (which is fine for me I have all of those things but its still gimicky as in not hard). Or how about a boss where u can dps it while having to navigate a jumping puzzle, that’s difficult again no class would really give you an advantage there.

When we all complained about wanting harder content (myself included) why did anet interpret that as being we need more difficult GROUP CONTENT. I waste HOURS standing around trying to find a group. HOURS talking to ppl on discord and TS only for raids to fall apart or ppl not showing up (even when I try to form a static group). I’ve even read from others that as soon as they train someone to do a fight they usually quit, and don’t keep raiding and the process of training new ppl starts all over again which makes exp players not want to raid.

Its too hard and inconvenient in this day and age to organize 10+ ppl. The fact that we have to use third party voice coms is a testament to that. In addition this is why raiding in mmo’s in general is not as popular as it once was, who has patience for this. I’m not succeeding at raids because I CANT find Groups, not because they are hard or challenging.

I also like when ppl say things like OH YOU JUST don’t want to put in the time. I guarantee that as someone who is starting raiding, that i have put in probably 1000x’s more work into “GETTING READY TO RAID” then 99% of most people who get started. If I didn’t want to put in the time, I’d just buy a raid run, because screw it I have tons of money, I already put the time in and it has paid off with nothing. Would be more efficient for me to play the TP harder and just buy it. (I use to sell HM fights in FFXIV to other players so I’m no stranger to this type of transaction). It’s even more funny because i played FFXI, I used to wait sometimes 3-4 hours just for an experience party, I once fought a boss in that game for 12 hrs straight, so ya, I’d say I have the patience.

I’m like 2 seconds away from just buying the entire run because dealing with group forming/matching/meeting up is just too much of a hassle, and it would be cheaper/less time for me to buy the entire run. (freaking sad, and i’m dissapointed in this).

at least games like wow and ffxiv made the effort with large raids. WOW has LFR which auto joins you with other players. nobody would probably use that here because the LFR system would probably not match you with a person w/the correct build/stats/exp because again the fights are too precise and gimmicky. So they would just rely on the same “show me your LI exp only” LFG messages rather than use a system like this.

FFXIV i think found a balance they have auto joining LFR but they made the raids that are somewhat challenging (not really they’re pretty ez, they could be harder though but not gimmicky) but you get to do it w/strangers and no voice com, so the fights are straightforward, you get nice rewards, you experience the content w/a lot of ppl and most raids are a win. They could modify this to make it harder, more challenging or random but at least w/this it’s not a painful approach to forming up.

Now they could modifiy this system to some extent, by adding more players to the raid 15 man’s + auto grouping. But as it is now its too hard (gimmicky (+ it’s not hard for me, its just hard enough that ppl won’t take ppl who are new)) w/10 man and it limits TONS Of potential players who would LIKE TO RAID, but can’t.

again I have been turned off and discouraged from doing content I Want to do, and am ready to do, countless times because of the matching and human aspect, of forming a group combined w/how the encounters and raids are structured as well as lack of an auto-grouping feature.

I wish they had made difficult solo, or duo content, or perhaps 5 man content that is even more difficult than fractals. Organizing and dealing with the petty human aspect of this game is not only the most difficult its the most painful and time consuming barrier to a game which is supposed to be fun.

Either make the raid itself easier, so ppl require less from PUG’s, add auto group feature so we don’t have to deal with the hassle of finding players or, increase player cap in raids to require less from PUG’s or make hard smaller group content instead of raids, Or make raid fights ACTUALLY DIFFICULT yet STRAIGHTFORWARD, w/no requirement of certain builds, instead of this gimmicky garbage so that ppl lighten up on raid requirements. Also make more viable builds, and try to balance raid dps so all classes are on par not specific classes so that you see stuff like “LF DPS TEMPEST ONLY” cuz its at 44k dps atm and other classes are at like 29k. (tall order but whatever).

TLDR: raid content is too gimmicky (not hard but filled w/specific cheese mechanics + you need specific builds), makes players discriminate against pugs and not take/teach new players. No way of really telling who is good vs bad, your’ either EXP or NOT. Dunno why they chose 10 man content to be difficult, why not 2 or 5 man content? No auto join system, trying to get a group and organize is painful if your not in a raid static/guild

I for one have had the adverse response to those “returning” items. Something I wanted 2 months ago isn’t as appealing anymore once it’s released.

An outfit that I wanted for my sylvari ele is no longer needed because I’m now playing my human necro. Or Caithe’s Bloom no longer appeals to me because I got my hands on a skin in game that I like better. My impulse buying has been stymied by lack of availability of the item.

agreed I’ve never been susceptible to stuff like black Friday or midnight releases of whatever, where people are standing out doors like a pack of hungry hyena’s. I guess were in the minority though as ppl charge forward like cattle when something that wasn’t available comes back suddenly and unexpectedly, and for those of us who aren’t susceptible to hype its just annoying and actually makes me not want to purchase it when it is re-released out of annoyance and protest.

there’s something to be said for convenience as well. Having items available all the time is convenient, and ppl pay for that as well.

You see this on Netflix as well. I’ve been watching multiple series when suddenly the licensing on them expires at the beginning of a new month and it says this is no longer available, even though I was in the middle of watching it. They do the same with movies where I see a movie and I’m like “Oh I’ll watch that in a couple of days”, and then i come back the next day and its no longer available. Its extremely annoying and makes me want to cancel my subscription, not hype me up for more stuff later.

Is there some magical reason that all gem store items aren’t on sale at the same time all the time? I mean at this point why not just make them available all the time. I doubt the artificial demand that anet is trying to create by not having them available is amounting to much, and its just annoying as none of the items are exclusive and you know they will be back at some point anyways, It’s just very annoying having to wait.

Anyone who goes AFK in a match should get kicked out of the match with dishonor they should lose the Pip and the rest of the team should lose no pips and treat it as a d/c.

If the person is already AFK and resigned to lose why dont they just d/c from the match and save their teammates the pips.

Hell you could even remove their dishonor debuff so they can join another game right away this would save them even more time which afkers claim is so precious and finite to them. By removing dishonor debuff and allowing them to join a new game right away it could lower que times potentially for others as well.

All MMOs eventually die, and that will happen with WOW as well, because its simply not practical to keep adding new content forever.
Newer games will always be developed to attract players from existing games.
Every MMO has the most number of players the day its released, and then the numbers slowly go down over time.

Wow actually had it’s highest player base at 12 mil at the launch of its 2nd expansion wrath of the lich king. So not really true. But I do feel that gw2 is tanking atm

this is because all people demanded there be quests to create precursors. They can’t make new ones because they have to make quests for the new legendary precursors. Hope everyone’s happy now that we have no new legendaries.

And still buying precursors outright is cheaper/less time then doing the quests, so nobody does the quests anyways and its preventing the creation of new ones. They could of left the quests completely out and just put a cap on how much money you can list precursors at on the TP and achieved the same thing.

why would anyone do this? Like saying go play wow w/your feet or do it blindfolded, its just dumb, how bout they make the game hard and make achievements and rewards mean something, even when playing at maximum potential it should be hard thus encouraging you to get the best gear play the best so that you can overcome the content, instead everyone wants afk #1 spam.

Well this topic is all over reddit and multiple threads on the forum so Yah. They could eliminate a lot of spvp toxicity by removing say and map chat in spvp matches. Again hiding name plates would reduce it considerably. Wow has done this for years since the start and nobody has ever complained it was against the spirit of pvp or that they wanted to talk to the opposing team.

If template names were used for the team chat nobody would know who to whisper after the match is over, where a lot of the griefing continues on and into the spvp lobby map chat.

it seems like in season 1 it favored those who had low MMR because they could get paired w/people with high MMR who usually were good players and win.

Season 2 def favored high MMR players as it would pair them together consistently.

Season 3 as they said is a combination of the 2? but all I’m seeing is that it dosen’t matter if you have High or low MMR, you get 50/50 w/l ratio.

I have 57% win ratio after 1k games and Can’t get ahead, My friend who has a 47% w/l ratio after 1k+ games can’t get ahead either.

same was legend last season and I blew through Sapphire this season on a 16 game win streak, then got to ruby tier 2 and now am stuck back and forth between tier 1 and tier 2 ruby. I seem to win 3 games and then lose 3 games, or win 2, lose 2, and when I win they’re blowout games and when I lose they’re blowout games.

I’m literally going from matches where ppl are telling me to l2p and git gud when we lose (usually from enemy team), to Wow your good player on the very next match (from my teammates and enemy team), w/diff team mates.

This system is really stupid

I think having total anonymity in matches would bring about a better environment as I don’t think blocking is the solution since it’s a never ending stream of kittens and ratio wise I’d say about 95% of map chat or team chat conversations are negative, taunting or unhelpful and only very rarely 5% is it kind constructive or helpful and I play a lot of spvp.

You’re right. Interesting choice, though. From my experience most negativity originates from within my own team. The enemy rarely cares.

This is true which is why I suggested that there should be team chat, however, make it so your name is anonymous somehow to your team mates. Like create a name based on your rank such as Sapphire veteran1 or Ruby scout 2 if there is more than one person on your team w the same rank, you assign them a number

It’s good to have an avenue to communicate with the other team. Don’t let a few bad players ruin it for everyone.

I know some players can be extremely rude. If you don’t like their comments, you can turn off whispers and map chat.

It’s not about turning it off I want to eliminate the possibility of the enemy team identifying another player in any way sort of like how it is in wvw

this post is such a bunch of BS. The system is deliberately rigged to match you in a “winning” team or a “losing” team. If you have high MMR, you will consistently get matched with a winning team and win. If you have low MMR you will more then likely get matched with a losing team and lose.

I like how OP defines “losing” as simply being skill based. When we all know you can lose for tons of different reasons, mainly that your team mates suck. Team mates sucking is a much larger variable then one player sucking as one player is only 1/5th of the team.

this creates lop sided matches with not only blow outs but people reporting huge win streaks and huge loss streaks, which is what were seeing.

You people have way too much faith in a-nets ability to code a fair and balanced matchmaking system which only factors in a players “skill” and no other extraneous variables. (ie bad internet, being on a team with others who suck which will result in a loss because it is a team based game, having low MMR, which consistently put players against you who tend to win more often then not, other people on the team who deliberately throw matches or afk, and yes a distant one that you yourself might indeed be a bad player. )

Sadly being a bad player isn’t really a variable that carries much weight (it should be) when compared to other variables when you define someone who “loses”. This is why were seeing so many threads and players who are “horrible” at SPvP in both Ruby and Diamond. (how exactly do you think they slipped by? if its all skill based?)

If this was a game like CS:GO i would say yes Skill is a much larger variable, as one person could head shot the entire enemy team and carry the game. No such luck in GW2 as even if you’re a god you can’t 1v5.

It’s not even needed. WoW has used a rating system similar to gw2’s pips/divisions and its worked fine for years. They haven’t attempted to manipulate matches further with an algorithm which is designed to “calculate a players skill level and match them up w/players of similar skill”.

How does one define “skill” exactly in the sense of an algorithm? That is such a complex variable that you can’t even attempt to control all the variables, and thus MMR is useless and isn’t accomplishing what it was designed to do.

Removing it would at least take the blame off of a-net, and people would just assume “Oh well, I got unlucky, or the enemy team/players were much better than me” if they were to lose, and at least not feel like the system was rigged against them (which it is).

Not having a matchmaking algorithm hasn’t hurt WoW e-sports at all. And for an e-sports scene its the most successful of all MMO’s

So i have something like 50+ titles on my account, and I dunno which one is the most “Prestigious” or “Rarest” or “Coolest.” I usually alternate between my GW1 GWAMM title or perhaps switch to my Exalted Legend title from getting legend in sPvP last season. Sometimes I’ll switch to one that just sounds cool, like the fractal title “Fatebreaker.”

Which titles do you guys think are the best and why? Which titles do you display and why? Which titles are the most coveted and why?

They should have a new pvp map where a spike wall is chasing all players and u have to run through obstacles and kill enemy team at same time or u die if you don’t bring enough mobility/run skills.

this will change tanky meta which revolves around capping and holding points.

I was legend last season and am in Ruby this season and am having no trouble advancing rapidly, 14/16 games won w/3 win streaks, so there goes ur argument and assumption. I’m probably a better player than you as I was never trapped in MMR hell last season.

Than why would you care about MMR being reset? You’ve already said you are going to not play PvP again and that all you care about is the wings. Why concern yourself with a game type that you claim you will never set foot in again?

When did I say all I care about is the wings?

I want the system to be better it makes no sense and it’s counter intuitive for what Anet is trying to accomplish with e-sports. I also don’t think that players who lose should have the system rigged against them and especially not so at the beginning of a fresh season.

It should be an even playing field every match and every season.

Even if they would reset it, it would mean you are carried by me, or other good players, and you would think you are good. I was in MMR hell in season 2, got out and got Legendary, now in season 3 I carry my team mates, not a single match lost. Learn to play, ‘cause it’s evident you can’t in the moment!

Seriously why even have seasons if mmr isn’t reset. You might as well make it one season that never ends and make it so that you can drop backwards from losses in tiers and divisions.

Why are class skills and traits customized specifically for each type of game mode? In GW1 skills had different functionality in PvP then they did in PvE.

Why can’t the devs permanently separate these game modes skill wise and balance accordingly, rather then trying to make one skill fit all game modes?

By not resetting MMR between seasons, the developers have decided to skew matches in favor of players who they deem to be “good”. Each season is not a fresh new start, and players who are “good” have the system weighted in there favor every season, whereas players who are “bad” have the system weighted against them from the start.

If for any reason during any sPvP season you fall into a losing pattern/streak, sPvP will forever be weighted against you for the season and any additional seasons to come.

Isn’t the point of the season that it should be a fresh start? Aren’t you trying to get new blood and new teams at the top of SPvP so they can be part of Esports? Why is the playing field not even at the beginning of every season? What’s the point of even having seasons if MMR is carried from one season to the next?

So with S1 games would go:
win > loss > win > loss > win > loss

S2 went :
win > win > win > win > win > loss > win > win > win
or if you have bad MMR:
Loss > loss > loss > loss > loss > win > loss

and now S3 is a mixture of the 2 skewed towards S1, so if you have high MMR:

win > loss > win > loss > win > win > win > win > loss > win > loss > win > loss

and with Low MMR:

win > loss > win > loss > loss > loss > loss > win > loss > win > loss > win > loss

and since they don’t reset MMR between seasons, if you start getting into a losing pattern/streak, there is almost no point in playing this season or ANY OTHER season to come forever.

guess form a team is the only way and that’s such a different way of playing SPvP, you might as well be playing a different game.

and In case anyone’s wondering I was Legend x2 last season and I still think this system is bad.
