Not bad, not bad. Would have been nice to have more than just one look for each armor level but oh well. I do fancy the hats :P
I haven’t spent a cent since I bought the game because the few things I want I can usually get by converting gold to gems. I feel that my initial 60$ was good enough for what I got at release but what has been released since then hasn’t really given me much of a drive to support it any further. Besides the stuff they release in the store is usually silly novelty things anyway.
I’m currently using an app that allows me to gain points by watching ads that I can convert to money in Pay-Pal. Soon I should have enough points for 10$ worth of gems so I guess, in the mean time, that will be my only real post-launch investment. Maybe I can buy one of the few useful items they have like a character slot or something.
If this is true then this is a bull move by Anet. Instead of putting in some effort to make the boss in F/U less rediculous they instead just remove the whole thing to put in a new path. What? Everything about F/U was fine until the boss so I’d assume making changes would take minimal effort at best. But I suppose it’s much easier to just press the “delete” key.
While I may not necessarily agree with the way the OP made his/her point, I do agree on the fact that one shouldn’t have to look at sources outside of the game to understand lore associated with events taking place within it. It’s not the same with say, the novels which give lore and information to events and plots that are unique to them, so those are okay I suppose, but much of the relevant backstories and character histories related to the living stories are presented in a blog rather than provided to us via cutscenes or dialogue which does not sit well with me.
I expected the first post of this thread to read “…said no one ever.” Hehe. Sorry I’m just not feeling Scarlet as a villain at all.
There’s one POI directly under Doric’s Waypoint. It can only be seen on map when zoomed completely in. Because you cannot see it in the map on normal zoom, it is easily missed if you just get the WP and don’t enter the camp.
I missed it with my last character and spent quite a lot of time there too trying to figure out what I was missing.
Oh wow that was exactly the one! No wonder I couldn’t see it anywhere on the map since it’s covered by a freakin’ waypoint. Many thanks.
With the account bonuses and luck bonuses combined I have around 48%. Don’t I feel like a chump…
For me, High Shaders makes most things look nice but sometimes the lighting effect is far too exaggerated and makes the armor look really plastic-y and fake. For example, my Necromancers’s cultural armor looks great on medium shaders but looks absolutely grotesque with it on high.

I’m in need of some assistance.
So on my current character I have her map completion of ML at 36/37 POI’s. I’ve spent over an hour scouring the map and have even looked up multiple online guides but I have had absolutely no luck finding the last POI. I was just wondering if there is some ultra obscure POI somewhere that I just cannot locate or if something funny is going on. I’ve managed to complete ML on three other characters and have never had this much trouble finding all of the POI’s. I know it doesn’t help that I can’t exactly show which ones I’ve located but trust me when I say that I’ve found all the obvious ones.
I have to admit, I didn’t know the Clockwork Chaos was only going to last two weeks. I thought I had another two weeks to do it. Missed out on doing Scarlet’s Playhouse which annoyed me. So I agree on this.
At this point I’m not even sure if the developers are taking their lore and game world seriously anymore. GW1 had a far more serious tone to it with a bit of humor on the side yet GW2 sort of feels like the opposite.
Yeah these errors are getting annoying. I know it’s a Sunday but come on
Congratulations OP. You’ve discovered the DPS meta that the game currently is in. Sometimes I just feel like rerolling all my classes into berzerker gear, but I don’t only because I like variety even if I must whittle down the health of all the HP balloon bosses in the game.
I dont mind Ascended level items at this point. Reason being is that they have been very slowly trickling them out so it’s not like we’re going to have to update our equipment frequently. That and you really only need Ascended stuff for higher level fractals. As far as I’m concerned, for me anyway, all it is, is a means to give one a slight advantage in the game. Sure it may bring some issues in WvW but that format already has problems of its own which I wont get into.
And this is coming from someone who preferred the low stat ceiling of GW1, but hey it’s already quite obvious that GW2 is something else. I’m definitely in no rush to get all my Ascended stuff.
By calling this a “serious idea” I’m just going to assume it’s not due to the sheer rediculousness of it.
Just to clarify my title a bit, but in W2 zone 1 I only have the stick, whip, and the flame but on the rapids area neither of these weapons are long enough to hit the turtles or crocodiles which I need as platforms to progress. Sometimes if I stand at the absolute very edge of a ledge I can hit them but most times I can’t and I have to sort of glitch my way by jumping across the water to “try” and hit the enemy and hopefully dodge my way onto them while they are stunned. Prior to entering there was no message saying I absolutely needed any other weapons like the slingshot or whatever but it’s seems kind of impossible without them. Any help or should I just startover from the beginning and farm enough baubles to get the other weapons (which I don’t really want to do)?
So the Queen’s Gauntlet chapter will be ending tonight but I was just wondering if anyone knows if the Sovereign Weapons vendor will be available elsewhere or if they’ll be obtainable after this event ends. I haven’t really logged in much since the Clockwork Chaos patch so I wasn’t able to get into the Pavilion due to not defeating Scarlet after I accumulated more sprockets. I won’t be heartbroken if I can’t get these weapons anymore though they would of been nice for my Warrior. Anyway if anyone has some info please share!
They are really dragging this all out aren’t they. I’d honestly like to see some sort of conclusion to this major year-long arc soon so that we can freakin move on already.
Ya I feel this way too. The only “zerker” character out of my five is my necromancer because I don’t want to play the same type all the time (as in my ele is geared and traited heavily for group support whereas my Mesmer is traited/geared for toughness). Don’t get me wrong I enjoy playing group support builds like my Ele, but I often feel that I would just be better off going for builds that do the most damage since many encounters are basically DPS races. Just look at the bosses within Honor of the Waves for example. If you aren’t traited/geared for pure damage then they take an eternity to defeat.
There are plenty of other examples as well.
I have to agree to an extent. There’s nothing wrong with Anet creating new content frequently but it’s just the fact that it’s all temporary is what kind of ruins it. Due to the content essentially being erased after it’s duration, one feels as if they have to focus solely on that stuff so that they don’t miss out. This temporary nonsense needs to end soon.
Personally I think the “dirty” version has more character to it, but there’s no reason why they couldn’t give players the option of both I suppose.
I’m pretty sure that for the event I was in Scarlet died almost instantly. The event showed up to defeat her and literally a moment later it was over. I was like, “wtf just happened?”
I finally got into a zone with the event running just for it to be interrupted with this update. Haha real lousy timing indeed.
Wow funny. I literally just did this path and thought the same thing. The light armor the ghost is wearing is far superior to that “thing” we got.
They’ll probably open up the rest of Tyria (the continent) before even considering new continents. We still have the Crystal Desert, Maguuma Wastes, Fire Islands, and all the areas to the north that are closed off. Though, like pretty much every other GW1 mega fan, I would absolutely love to visit Cantha and Elona again.
I agree! Another great example is the concept loading screen for Fields of Ruin compared to what we get. In the concept art the path leading up to Ebonhawk is so much grander in design whereas the actual entrance is kind of yawn worthy. I tend to chalk it up to gameplay/technical reasons.
Endlessly farming certain enemies/zones/whatever is something I’ll never understand when it comes to MMO’s or other similar genres. I guess people have their reasons. I have participated in the Pavilion for sure and have occasionally killed a few champions and finished up the achievement, but now that I have done so I mostly avoid it.
I think a fan mainhand or offhand would be a great future weapon. My Mesmer would love it. Not to mention the concept image for the Mesmer had one so why is it not there!
WvWvW being included in Map Completion is really kind of silly. I mean the Mists aren’t even technically part of the landmass of Tyria, right? So why should it count towards world completion. Currently my main character has all but one vista and one POI on Eternal Battlegrounds but I simply CANNOT get them because they are in the enemy’s home keep and unless I could somehow mass enough players together there’s no guarantee we’d be able to capture it. I basically have to hope that a) Our world eventually captures it and I’m online at the right time to go get them or b) next week my world’s color has changed to the keep in which the POI and vista are. So yeah, super frustrating.
Also, why have us complete the same freaking map three times! It’s horribly redundant.

I’ve been thinking about this as well. Obviously it must be a technical reason but having all the zones separated by a portal sort of takes away the feeling of a large, inter-connected world. Usually when I go from one zone to the next I really have to “think” that I’m just wandering into nearby land rather than a whole new world so to speak.
I feel like these changes that Anet is making, while nice in theory, are just making the PVE crowd more toxic towards one another. It’s rediculous that people would honestly report you for legitamately playing the game, but in some weird way I can’t blame them 100% for not wanting others to complete the event chains since simply killing the champions that spawn are FAR more rewarding.
Hi,
Was just wondering if anyone has noticed that our player characters haven’t had any spoken dialogue at all for the Living Story. Not sure if there’s a reason behind it but I would like to hear my characters speak a bit more like in the Personal Story cutscenes.

There you go.
I wanted to punch Braham in that stupid squished face of his for not remembering me after helping him retake his homestead. Forgot to even talk to the buggy eyed one so I don’t know if she hakitten esia as well. Bad continuity is bad…
Wow at first I saw this thread and thought, “when did I create this?” Then I saw the numbers.
I saw more than a “pretty white (not sure why you had to bring her skin colour into this) Mary Sue”. So in your face with a can of mace, make you cry all over the place!
I voted for Kiel! So yippee!
Holy crow. So many people spending hundreds. This is why those who want quality gameplay are out of luck with GW2…and ArenaNet are laughing all the way to the bank.
I’d imagine that those who spend that much on the game are few and far between, though. There are probably just as many (likely more) players who spend little to none on it as well.

I’ve only spent the 60$ on the base game and that’s really all I feel I owe the developers. It’s not like there’s really anything in the gem store that’s enticing enough for me to spend money on and the few things I do get I get with in game gold by converting to gems. Sure some may argue that I’m not “supporting” the game enough or whatever but it’s really no one elses business what I spend my money on and I currently feel that my initial purchase is more than enough. I’d love to purchase really meaty and meaningful content but that’s another can of worms :P
I wonder the same thing. The only thing I can think of is that the Mesmer Elite has a wider area of effect and doesnt require players to sit in a circle for a few seconds.
Bring back Paragon armor from GW1! Or at least take inspiration from them! Many of the sets showed skin on both genders without looking stupid.
A well-written summary of the story so far, though I have to agree with some of the viewpoints that it’s not the most compelling series of events I’ve ever experienced.
Gimme back GW 2 equivalents of a lot of Gw 1 Mesmer skills and I’d be really happy. I know we’re never going to get hexes but I want less illusion spamming and more mindkittenery like our GW1 Mesmer counterparts. Pretty please!
I use the nightmare wand, pistol, and greatsword because purple :P
Glad I’m not the only one who noticed the skills sometimes act wonky. Not that I really care about coming in first but it would be nice if the skills functioned properly all the time so I had a fair chance.
Agreed. She is responsible for some of my favorite armor designs in GW1! They should let her do more for GW 2 as I don’t see as many examples on the page.
