Probably because contrary to all the hooting and hollering for more difficult content, very few players actually do it when they give it to us (Liadri, TA Aetherpath, etc.)

I’ve never heard of people intentionally doing the fractals with the hardest instabilities either

Indeed. There’s also very few guilds that attempt Triple Headed Wurm.

What i do not get why don’t most of the come T3 worlds (not SoS or FA or even DB they are more on the lines of T2-T2.5) get ppl from T4 and lower worlds to come to T3. Part of wvw is comunitly and if you cant build one then your world will die or simply be crushed by the odd T worlds.

BTW sry to IoJ and NS FA really dose not want to be in T3 though you guys are giving good fights so we are pushing ppt (ppk when we had it) to push back up to T2 where we will get some what stomped lol.

No, thanks. Tiers 4 and 5 are actually stable.

If HoD and GoM get a just a few more fresh blood, a match up with SBI/HoD/GoM will be very balanced and a tough one.

Why should us leave our tiers, which are actually good, to try to “fix” something players had broken themselves by stacking in one server when they knew there was no room for 4 tier 2 servers? Ruining other tiers in a vain attempt to “fix” anything will cause more harm than good as history have been pointing in the past 2 years and half.

Ah, the illusion of choice – at the end of this match there will be only 50 rating points between IoJ and HoD with IoJ losing 22 pts and HoD gaining 20. If it keeps at this rate, HoD will be in T3 in 2 weeks.

Just a couple months back the problem was with T2. It appears to be moving down the ladder.

the problem is still with T2. We are just the ones who deal with the consequences. There are 4 T2 servers, and 2 of them are cycling the other two in and out of the matchup, and we get to deal with it.

T2 is actually really great right now, very good, tight matches. A couple months back we saw the lopsided matches that are now in T3, natural selection moved more servers up to take Maguuma’s place, the cycle will continue. The only issue is how long it take Glicko to react to these changes.

you seem to be missing the point – there are 4 servers with the glicko and coverage to be in T2. There are 3 slots for T2. SoS may be crumbling a wee bit. We’ll see if they tumble. Even so, it will be another few weeks, maybe even 6 weeks that we’ll have horridly unbalanced matchups

I understand completely. A couple months back we had lopsided matches in T2, we now have lopsided matches in T3. The issue is how long it takes Glicko to react.

Some people seem to expect tiers to remain static, that believe things are “broken” if they change. I posted this a couple weeks ago showcasing the changes over the last year.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/2014-Server-rank-changes/first#post4666374

So in theory, movement will most likely come from T3 guilds moving down and strengthening a lower tier server until it reaches T2 strength? Once this happens to two lower tier servers, a new balanced T3 emerges.

Unfortunately, this means IOJ and NSP will suffer heavily from departures by guilds moving down to avoid the slaughter.

The alternative is for people to move into IOJ and NSP, but that is not going to be an exciting option for most. But hey, if you love being outnumbered and fighting hopeless battles 300 style, come on over!

Pretty much. I was on SoR during the 4.5 straight months of losses before they finally fell out of T1 a year ago, it’s pretty frikken painful. Glicko is too slow to react, the rating gap between tiers is too large.

Dude, you’re way off base. My server queues EB on most nights, and has significant presence in bls (at least 4 guilds running 10-20, as well as a ton of pugs and roaming guilds). And SBI/GoM can, and frequently do, beat my server in primetime. Every single server in this game, down to t8, is active (ish) in primetime. Any server above t5 can field zergs, literally, around the clock (you just don’t see NSP/IoJ doing it because they’ve had weeks, and weeks, of getting pulverized by stacked t2 servers and their map completion mega zergs).

And by the way you say balance? All I see is 2v1s in t2, and always 1 tier server getting a k train matchup in t3. t2 servers hardly are balanced.

Fielding numbers in primetime and maybe running 1 tag on one of the maps is not very active. As I said that’s ok for NA guilds that just care about fighting during their rally time.

And as for balance T2 did reach a balance for a short time when FA and SoS recuited to even things out, but then turned around and immediately started the 2v1 fest you see now.

You are still way off base just for the sheer fact that the US has more than 10x the population that Australia does. All servers will never have full OCX coverage, and indeed, a primetime queued map is the real indicator of a server’s health.

does PPK actually help zergs?

how are points tallied?

is 1 person only worth 1 point? or is it worth 1 point for everyone that damaged the player?

If PPK is only worth 1 point per person. Then the lower pop can earn more from it then a blob.

Anyone done an analysis? Is it even possible to determine how many points come from kills? (I believe you can tell how many come from player kills + sentries + yak kills, but what about just player kills alone?)

It’d be nice to see some accurate numbers, but perhaps some analysis can be done by comparing scores from before PPK and now — of course, that might be impossible because removal of white swords also happened.

In any case, despite its popularity, I’d be surprised if (aside from boosting point totals all around) it makes any difference in outcomes at all.

Even before PPK servers could easily get 20-30% of their points not from tick. So at a guess I’d say that about 10-20% of current scores are PPK.

Good guess! Looking at the week before PPK compared to last week it’s 16%.
1.7 million player deaths across all tiers last week.

How many online / server population?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Karizee.8076

Karizee.8076

Yes, you will see many players everywhere

As far as content, it varies by release. You can see here:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/

The Megaserver technology adds as many maps as is necessary to accommodate as many players wanting to play on those maps so there never is a queue for PvE content. So for instance, during a world boss event, if 50k players go to Queensdale at 9:45 to defeat the Shadow Behemoth, the megaserver would spawn upwards of 250 maps. Then as players moved on to other areas, the Queensdale maps would start closing/combining to accommodate as many players as were staying on that map so that the maps always feel full.

You are sorted into maps based on your party, guild, friends list and home world.

I mostly bounce back and forth between WvW and Living Story with occasional forays into dungeons, fractals or PvP. I am never bored

I find WvW endlessly fascinating. It’s different every time I go in. It’s more drama than Game of Thrones, more strategy than chess. Now I played WoW back when Tarren Mill/Southshore was a thing, back during the Wintergrasp days and let me tell you, all that was merely a tinkertoy compared to WvW. It’s the only game to play as far as I’m concerned if you like large scale RvR.

And I love the lore and world of Tyria. Dragons larger than whole zones, how everything is tied together in the Eternal Alchemy, a gorgeous infinitely detailed world with so much character customization. Always pumping out new content, trying new things, this game always surprises me. And the way they’ve changed up the MMO scene, with how practically everything you do benefits those around you, how you are happy to see other players rather than leery that they will steal your node, your kill, your loot, etc. So done with all that other nonsense, this is my game

Stuff

http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/11/25/flameseeker-chronicles-navigating-guild-wars-2s-tangled-paths/

My wife and I flew out to Seattle, Washington, last weekend (for personal reasons, on our own dime!). It was a great trip, in large part because I was invited to visit ArenaNet’s Bellevue headquarters and had the privilege of meeting some of the greatest video game heroes in the industry. I took only one photo — from the roof — because Elder Dragons are notoriously camera shy and I didn’t want to risk catching one of them on film. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

Although I’m bound by blood oath not to discuss any specifics (it’s a Necromancer thing), I can say with certainty that, yes, ArenaNet is working on stuff. It is working very kitten stuff. There is no internal catastrophe or barren office lurking behind the studio’s policy of limited communication as some fans have feared. There are a lot of highly organized developers there doing things I was mostly not allowed to see up close because there are probably nuclear fallout shelters less secure than ANet HQ. But it’s safe to say that they didn’t pull together hundreds of people and tell them to look very busy and enthusiastic and excited about their game just because I happened to be in the vicinity.

I’d like to thank ArenaNet for inviting me to tour the studio, as well as the folks who took time out of their schedules to chat with me, show me around, and say hello. It was truly an awesome experience.

Seriously ?

Is there a really simple way for dummies that suck at maths? I have about 3k skill points and I need to convert that really quickly without any spreadsheet or some wierd complicated conversion.

The most profitable conversions will require some research as well as timing your buy and sell points.

An easy, low research conversion would be upgrading siege blueprints, but it would not be the most profitable. Selling the upgraded blueprints before reset and especially before tournaments could definitely make it worth your while.

While it’s a bit farther than Vizier’s Tower, in Malchor’s Leap there’s a chest underwater at the Hope Falls point of interest, guarded by a single veteran. It contains the ornament needed from Orr. So if you can get someone to run you there and distract/kill the veteran, that chest is more easily accessible than the jumping puzzles would be.

You don’t even need to go that far. There’s an open world chest just east of Snipe Hill in Straits of Devastation.

OP, get an 80 or 2 to run you down there. I took a level 43 there yesterday, she died a couple times but I was right there to rez her after I killed the mobs.

That way you’ll be sure to get your Christmas tree in your home instance if the collection reward works only during Wintersday.

The hardest objectives to grab will be your opponent’s keeps and garrison. For those sometimes you’ll just need to wait until your server rotates to that color.

Get in at weekly reset if possible, objectives flip many times during those first 24 hours before servers have a chance to accumulate supply and siege up their bases.

These will be the hardest maps you’ll ever complete in this game. Check your server’s forum for guilds and groups running – safety in numbers while you are still learning the maps.

The gear is super easy to get, no RNG involved at all. You can craft, use tokens or badges or w/e.

Now you can grind your fanny off for super shiny stuff, but you’ll never be locked out of content for item levels. But there’s tons of easy to obtain good looking armor and weapons as well so that’s ok.

As far as PvP you don’t even have to level. Take a brand new character in, boosted to 80 with all the traits/skills and your choice of stats that can be instantly swapped out.
