At around 93% I came to a realization that “this” was how the drop rate should have been. It’s not like rares are spilling out of everything now but they are actually dropping “rarely” from mobs as opposed to “never”. So it seems you were always supposed to have around 100% MF before the changes.

Depends on the zoom level you will be using it at.

The tokens do not give zerker, ptv, or knight’s gear, the most popular types
There are other runs which are faster and easier to pug for the same amount of gold (1g)
The chests do not drop any kind of lodestone
You can’t exploit any more (to my knowledge)

You can get rabid which is the condition variant of knights and it’s often considered the premium condition spec, but conditions are a great deal less desired. A lot of WvW players want it, but those same players don’t want to do a dungeon, let alone CM.

Personally I find CM to be one of the easier dungeons if you have lots of reflection skills. Most of the mobs in there rely entirely on projectiles, which makes it incredibly easy for mesmers and guardians to almost completely negate any challenge.

Most times I pug CM people don’t use exploits or tricks and I suspect that’s why it’s run less. The tricks exist, but people don’t seem to be as aware of them as they are for dungeons like AC.

Rabid is also available from the WvW armorsmith for badges+some gold. Maybe not the cheapest but it’s the option that involves more WvW and less non-WvW.

Anyway, as a guardian, you are probably better off using a scepter (has 900 range, compared to staff’s 600). Just auto attack, using the other skills when you can/aren’t dying. You can technically do this event as many times a day as you want, but you can only get the chests for it once a day, per account

The wiggly bonus chest is once per day per account but the big one that spawns on the ground is once per day per character.

Queen Jennah has simply discovered that shoes are overrated, and lives her life barefoot. Think of how much money she has saved the kingdom, not having to buy her shoes for every occasion! ;-)

Seriously though, there are at least a handful of us devs who practice a barefoot lifestyle. I’m sure some people will always think it’s “weird”, but at least around the studio, it’s become just another facet in a diverse workplace.

So … does that mean we can get a hide shoe option along with the hide helm and hide glove?

I would also like to point out that while it is not weird the environment is very different! I doubt the ANet office floor is covered in broken elixir bottles from millions of litterbug engineers.

I use “Retreat!” + “Save Yourselves!”
For Engineer I guess it depends. I use Med Kit so there is additional swiftness from that.

Constant immobilization is not really "fun"

Khisanth.2948

Ok, seems that I am not the only one. I have noticed this with many of my characters. At the moment I am running through Sparkly Fan with my Warrior (77). But remember all those centaurs, ogers, spiders, krait, undeads, drakes, humans – uhm, is there any kind of mob that doesn’t knock you down all the time?

I do not want PvE getting “easier”. I want Anet to be a little more creative finding ways to “enhance grinding experience” than this. Because at the end and after 1000 mobs it only remains as another form of time sink. Again: laying on the floor for 4-5 seconds in every(!) fight isn’t fun.

Yes there are some classes who don’t have those problems (at least my ele or ranger didn’t notice this so often). But I think you shouldn’t punish melee chars like this – no matter if they do more damage or not.

Hmm at this point dodging those have pretty much become second nature. Not all them needs to be dodged either and not every instance requires using a stun breaker. Generally better not to use a stun breaker unless the situation escalates but most of my melee characters can either take a few hits.

over half a year ago they said we will be able to dodge while immobilized… where is this at? Now that immobilize will be stackable they better let us dodge cuz its gonna become the most powerful condition in the game and by a long shot

That is actually unrelated to this thread. The title is just wrong. Immobilize is not related to the various CC skills.

Good to know. Where does it trigger? What does it look like? I’ve just done 3 Tequatl fights and never seen a whirlpool. Does it happen in the first 25%? The fights were overflows that didn’t get near a laser blast.

The whirlpool attack doesn’t start until you get it down to 75% so after the first laser attack it will start using it. The animation is a fairly big and obvious swirly water whirlpool thing even on a fully packed instance. Once you are inside it is fairly easy to find on the bottom but you might get downed/die from the degen when you try to get back out.

It triggers at multiple locations, possibly random or target at some specific player. I’ve seen it near the turrets and multiple ones showing up near the DPS group by the foot.

What you are describing actually sounds normal. The break stun part of these skills won’t work until the attack that inflicted the CC has finished. Your indication may miss a bit point. If they wouldn’t make those account bound, maybe it was a gamble since there is a gold benefit. Of course it’s happy to me, but I don’t request it here.

But your comment is valuable. At least you are here as the one who think Anet let gw2 players gamble intentionally with inaccurate information.

I think it is okay for there to be risk. It is up to players to decide how they want to manage that risk. If they decide to take the risk and it didn’t work out they should accept responsibility for their own decisions.

Agree with above, many sigils where high in price still like Sigil of Strength etc they stayed high in price because people still thought they where good. Now the Rune and Sigil market has been jumbled at bit and the better sigils are actually at a higher value(outside of the expensive to craft ones like perplexity etc.)

Sigil of force took a while to reach 1g it use to be low for a while same with accuracy(which is still a bit lower than it use to be)

Sigil of Rage(rofl) use to be one of the top sigil when the game came out because people with bad math thought it was good and people hopped on the bandwagon. I don’t know many people that would touch that sigil outside of some novelty build.

Superior Sigil of Force also comes with some of the weapons towards the end of the personal story. There probably would have been quite a few people getting them at around the same time.

The weapons you get at the end of the personal story are rare and contain a major sigil of force.

Sadly.

Hair accessory color changed

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

Hey folks,

This is something I’ve reported internally, but we’re having trouble finding a reliable repro for the issue.

If you folks can give any information on what led up to the unintended change, let me know.

Some ideas:

  • Equipped new gear?
  • Dyed gear pieces?

Anything is helpful.

Thanks!

Logged in after the launcher had patched to the SAB update when that started. Took a look at my character when I had loaded into the game and noticed the change.

Does removing all your gear or changing all the dyes to a different color have any impact?

Two similar issues that has been fixed comes to mind. The was an issue with light underwater breather corrupting armor texture so that going in and out of water would cause the armor to have odd splotches.

A closer matching issue was the one I believe back in beta when additional colors were added for the Sylvari and everyone got color shifted.

If anyone happens to have the total make over kit, check how many places the new color is shifted from the old one?

The theory being that maybe new colors have been added or perhaps there will be an upcoming change giving exclusive colors for accessories similar to the exclusive colors for hair. That sort of cause would also explain why it can’t be reproduced since you need to have a character made prior to any of the changes.

Bloodstone dust

in Crafting

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

The issue is not the ease of acquisition; but rather the limited means to consume/manage the dust/bricks in a manner that is not incredibly wasteful past as certain initial threshold.

There either needs to be alternate uses patched in asap; or the rate of acquisition and recipe usage both need reduced by at least a factor of 10 to account for limited storage and them being account bound.

It should be the other way around. The rate for the other two should be adjusted to match the dust.

This would make Dragnite Ore, Empyreal Stars and Bloodstone Bricks functionally equivalent to Black Lion Chests. The time gated materials would be equivalent to the Black Lion Keys. One exists to get people to want to buy the other.

Silver Doubloons - is this for real?

in Crafting

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

“so crazy… legendaries cost 4x or 5xmore than at start of the game”

There is a crazy amount of money coming into the game. Everyone seems happy with that until they see inflation at the Trading Post.

For silver dubloons there could be a shortage of supply. A large chunk of the player base will have temporarily abandoned their low level alts in favor of jumping boxes, ascended material collection, and Tequatl.

Yet some people still think the drop rate for gold should be increased.

I don’t think there is a decrease in supply so much as an increase in demand. Between the updates for the footfall and the news that precursors will be craftable by the end of the year that isn’t surprising. That topic has come up before in the bltc section, including the fact that the components might rise in price if the precursors become “easier” to obtain.

What is really strange of course is why a rare quality crafting material isn’t considered a “rare crafting material”. The doubloons seems like they should be analogous to the large skulls dropped by grawls.

Silver Doubloons - is this for real?

in Crafting

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

Due to the vast amount of topics being opened on silver doubloons every week on the forums, you make people aware of a rising market and this wont help the price to go down.

That is probably the most important point. As long as the demand is there sellers aren’t going to lower their prices.

Realistically, though, this should be something that ArenaNet looks into. Upping the drop rate slightly or, even better, adding another method to obtain them (like an upgrade recipie for Copper Doubloons) without altering drop rates would probably go a long way toward helping the problem.

Maybe, maybe not. It could just end up pushing the prices of the components up. So you go from really expensive Silver Doubloons and cheap Copper Doubloons to slightly cheaper Silver Doubloons and really expensive(for their level) Copper Doubloons. On the other hand there is a guaranteed way to get Copper Doubloons ….

Another asurian who regrets choosing a race that can barely show off their gear. I ran arah the other day with an asurian wielding a juggernaut, named juggernaut. After beating Lupicus someone asked him when he was going to get the weapon to match his name. And he pointed out that he has been using the juggernaut the whole time. We all laughed because its hard to recognized scepter sized weapons. Feel sorry for you.

Heh I am actually in the opposite situation. I am glad I made my engineer an asura. The lack of medium armor options is less of an issue since pants aren’t as big of a deal on asura anyway. Some of the medium armor seems to look better on an asura than the other races too.
It also helps that the fish pistols are kinda huge.

As for the midget with the juggernaut, you didn’t notice the footsteps?

They’ve said no, but things can change. I wouldn’t count on it anytime soon, though. It certainly seems possible, it’d just take a lot of ‘turning X into Y’, a LOT of that.

I’d imagine something that’d make it easier is if you can only use the race change after, say, level 30, where the personal story stops being ‘personal’ :p

The biggest problem I see with race change is actually the cultural armor. They can either do nothing in which case there will be complaints about wasted gold. They can convert to equivalent tier of new race in which case it leaves open a loophole for the achievements. I know achievements are not a big deal but for some people it’s almost a life and death thing.

Heres an idea, when Anet impliments the precursor crafting, make it require pieces off of Teq and these other revamped bosses. That will help add incentive to the encounters plus make crafting a precursor actually kind of hard and give people the feeling of accomplishment if they make one.

A terrible idea. Success or failure of those events is ultimately determined by the actions of many other which you have no control over. At least when farming/throwing stuff into the MF you have some control. Nothing was accomplished, you happened to be at the right place at the right time.

Was just wondering if there is a new insignia with all the updates, I didnt see any sadly

Dungeon vendors just have weapons and trinkets with dire stats, afaik.

Dire insignias are not available but exotic lvl 80 dire armor is available from random loot drops or the TP:

Jatoro – Light Armor
Errol – Medium Armor
Yakkington – Heavy Armor

Dungeon vendors have weapons and armor, no trinkets.
Certain dungeons have mobs that can drop recipe sheets that let you craft Dire trinkets(and back piece).

Dodge rolling in the wrong direction

I suspect it’s related to the fact that when you double-click on something, causing your character to turn towards that thing, subsequent movement will be relative to the direction your character is facing, instead of the camera.

In the first attached screenshot, I have walked up to my current position using the right-mouse button to rotate my camera. Pressing W moves me towards the logs.

The second screenshot is after I double-click on the Citizen NPC. The camera is the same, but pressing W moves me towards the Citizen now.

I’ve found that the odd dodging happens if my character is in the midst of using a skill, which also causes character rotation, which is why I suspect it’s related.

… or if you just have the camera rotated for whatever reason.
An option to always dodge based on the camera direction would be nice. That way the dodge is based on what the player sees rather than what the character sees which is not all that useful.
