1. I like the idea of the spirits, but I think they should be toned down a tiny bit. If you fear spirits more than players than that’s a bit of a problem. Maybe you could change one of the abilities to help a player. For instance maybe someone killed you, so you go to find their opponent and buff them. Maybe the buff could be something like swiftness/might/aegis for X seconds.
2. Running feels a little too slow. I know Anet is trying to make it so that people don’t run away too far.. but it still feels too slow. Maybe like a 5-10% speed increase would make it feel better to me.
3. I feel that hunger gets rid of your health a little too fast. When I first played the game I was expecting hunger to go away for a period of time when you use a ration. But the damage just keeps going.
4. Rations have too high of an impact in the game. I think that maybe there should be a cap for players to only be able to hold 5 rations at a time. Hiding out should be able to be a strategy, but it shouldn’t be the only strategy. If you try to pick up a ration when you’re at the cap, it should just drop it on the ground.
5. You need to place mobs more around the water and beach area. You obviously shouldn’t place them by the bar, but, you really need to keep people on the starting island and not run off into no-man’s land where both players and spirits can’t reach (practically speaking).

How to survive: Get a bunch of rations and hide in a corner and wait for everyone else to starve to death.
High Scorer is too high.
I think there should be a new chat channel (i.e. say, map, team, etc) that is specific to WvW. This chat channel would encompass all 4 WvW maps so that you can chat inbetween them. Obviously the problem might be that the chat channel would get spammed by people who shouldn’t be using that channel. So I think that only commanders should be able to talk in the channel, and everyone who has the channel enabled can see it. This could help promote better organization between the 4 maps on your server. For instance let’s say you’re outmanned on EB and a zerg is sieging your Stonemist Castle. You could easily call out for other people to join EB and help defend it.
3rd candidate will be Trahearne. ^^
He said better, not worse.
So Evon works for the Black Lion Trading company. I figured if he became a council member that he would try to enact policies to create a monopoly for the black lion trading company by disallowing other trading companies access to Lion’s Arch. However in Kiel’s propaganda video it saws that Evon is buddy buddy with the consortium. So I’m not entirely sure if the consortium is just an exception or if he really has no plans on drowning out the competition with his council status.
I’m pro-free trade and I don’t really know what Evon’s policies would be on it. Someone tell me what to think.
I hope they aren’t planning on getting rid of the cap.
Before HoM my rank was in the high 60s. Now it’s 118 and still dropping. Kitten my life.
The numbers seem fairly minimal so I don’t see it as a huge deal. I’m more excited for the unique weapon/armor skins personally. I could be somewhat bias in this though as I already have 10k+ achievement points.
So this is a suggestion for traits. People have complained that stack conditions only go up to 25. The idea is that if you’re at 25 stacks that trying for any higher is useless and thus limits how many condition builds can be on a team. I assume Anet’s position is that they want a cap so that not everyone plays condition builds and monsters end up having 100 stacks of bleed.
So I think that something that could be done instead is to create traits that proc when an enemy has, say, 20 stacks of something. So for example let’s say there’s a trait that states “if an enemy has 20 or more stacks of Bleeding, you have an X% chance to apply Burn for Y seconds (Z second cooldown) whenever you apply a Bleed”. Another example might be “if an enemy has 20 or more stacks of Vulnerability, you have an X% chance to apply Weakness for Y seconds (Z second cooldown) whenever you apply a Vulnerability”. I think something like this could bridge the gap from what the players want and from what the devs want. It could also promote teamwork among similar builds (like 2 bleed builds both having the trait to keep burn up more often).
You could also do something more interesting and make up all new conditions. Like instead of Burn maybe there’s a chance for the condition Zippidy Zoo Wop that makes an enemy fall down every X seconds. I don’t know. That’s just a stupid example.
HoM players have there ‘rewards’ in the form of unique titles, weapon & armour skins and ranger pets, they should not also have priority on the highscores.
Just imagine if Anet gave custom ranger pets to GW1 players that had better, unique abilities and were not just reskins. You’d have an uproar and the GW1 players would defend it and say that they deserve it for playing GW1.
Sadly yes it is. Which is silly. If my friends suddenly got a bunch of ap I would be happy for them. I wouldn’t say “well that’s not fair, I want those rewards too”. Simple enough really, go earn them.
Are you telling GW2 players to go out and buy GW1 so that they can remain competitive in GW2? Don’t you realize how absurd that sounds, to tell us to buy another game?
You also get boosters for PvE and tokens for WvW. I think they’re trying to reward every category (PvE, PvP, WvW).
You have to understand the reason we’re getting this all at once is because we’ve been playing the game for awhile. Under normal circumstances you would not be getting an achievement chest every day.
People are acting like they played Guild Wars 1 for the recognition and not because it was just a fun game.
It has more crit damage than zerker? What is this I don’t even.
I understand why there are races and racial abilities. It’s to give the game flavor. However there is a fine line you have to walk with them. You need to make them interesting enough to be warranted enough for usage, but not make them so strong that certain classes are pigeon-holed into taking certain races.
I remember I played in the Rift beta. I was on the Defiant side and like everyone was rolling the Kelari race because they had the best racial ability. Then Trion nerfed the racial abilities into the ground.
I love the achievement leaderboards. They should stay. There should just not be artificial ways to boost achievements like with Hall of Monuments.
Edit: I don’t think the HoM should even give 20 achievement points. It should give 0, or at least, not count at all towards the leaderboards. The reason the achievement community is getting up in arms now as opposed to previously is because 500 is substantially higher than 20. People like myself were never ok with it giving 20 points but just didn’t care enough to get into the issue.

If Anet wants to reward GW1 players they need to do so in a manner that is not competitive in GW2. They should get things like custom armor/weapons, custom titles, custom minis, custom ranger pets, free gems for the gem store, heck they could even put a daily ori node in their home instance. I don’t care. Just don’t do something that puts other players at a major disadvantage and forces them to buy GW1 to stay competitive.
I went from being in the 60s rank on the leaderboard achievements to the 90s. Exciting. :/
And how is your IRL or GW2 life changed in any way from that? What does being in a certain spot on an achievement leaderboard get you?
I could turn that same logic around on you and ask you how having less achievements points would change your IRL or GW2 life.
This is not Guild Wars 1. This is Guild Wars 2. This makes a huge difference in the leaderboards.

I think it’s a terrible map for tournament. It heavily favors certain classes over others. If your team does not control the laser.. YOU LOSE. And there are some classes that are better at staying at the laser than other ones (i.e. engineer).

The Black Lion Trading Company is trying to broker a trade deal with the zephyrs. Where are the consortium while this is happening? Shouldn’t they want to broker some kind of trade as well?
I used regen booster + mango pie. Sorry, ArenaNet, but If you make it so that the NPC is so incredibly hard that you can only win if you’re incredibly lucky then I’m not going to feel bad about cheating on it.
I’ve tried Adnul like 15 times and I haven’t been able to beat him yet. I think the closest I got him down to was about 30% health.
As someone who tries to get all the dailies like OP, I would much enjoy a cap on daily achievements. It means I would no longer need to do potentially time-consuming achievements like WvW achievements.
The funny thing is that making a cap will make it easier for more casual players to be competitive in achievements. Yet people are attacking OP and saying he’s just trying to maintain his lead. Under the current system hardcore achievement hunters like OP and myself are making our leads on other players higher by doing more dailies.
So I joined a guild that is natively on another server. We did the bounties and the information was not showing up in the guild mission screen. I figure this is just because I’m not natively from their server. So I just go to the waypoints that they post. Then they wanted to do guild trek. Again no information was showing up in the guild mission tab. So I asked where I should go. I go to one of the locations and I don’t see the orange glowing rune on the ground that is supposedly there. I’m wondering whether or not you can do guild trek in a guild from another server or not.
Has anyone gotten one since they’ve been supposedly released?
I think it could use some small nerfs, but nothing terribly drastic.

Is valkyrie or berserker better?
And can you get it from regular coffers?
What’s the drop rate of the recipe? I ordered 30 rich chests and got 3 jade tickets but no recipe.
Yes, we care about the forums. We also care about all the classes equally.
Rangers were looked at as one of the more underwhelming classes in the game. And this was BEFORE all the recent nerfs. If you guys care about rangers then can you give us some insight as to why everyone is wrong and that rangers deserved to be nerfed across the board?
R.I.P. in peace, short bow.
I know for a fact that Mesmers and Rangers got the worst nerfs of all
Mesmers and rangers are super kitten ed off right now. Who knows if they’re going to go through with it, but people are talking about leaving Guild Wars 2 over this.
Sorry, as much as I don’t like RNG, the new armor doesn’t appeal to me.
I guess Anet felt that rangers weren’t underpowered enough.
Maybe BLTC is scared of their monopoly breaking down and so they’re claiming products from other trading companies like the Consortium as their own.
I guess these changes gives me the motivation I needed to level my guardian.
It just… doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. So our ranged weapons go from 900 to 900 to 1,500? Shortbow was the bridge between the gap. Not to mention that condition builds are not going to use the longbow so you have effectively nerfed condition builds on the ranger all in the name of “build variety”.
Make it 1,200 again.
(edited by Kojiden.8405)
PvP ranks need reworking, as do WvW achievements. Anet made them both extremely hard to get. I somewhat understand why, to draw out rewards as much as possible, but I see what they did as just a band-aid fix.
The page says that they’re unofficial.
It’s like Anet is trying to actively discourage people from playing Rangers.
Edit: If these rumors are true, at least.

I like the idea of Torment. This new condition is more unique and creative than it could have been (like a life leech condition). It makes perfect sense for necromancer and thief. However I feel that Mesmers deal primarily with confusions, so I’m not entirely convinced that Mesmers need Torment. And I was thinking that since Torment is kind of a movement impaired condition that perhaps it could be useful moreso on Guardians, since guardians are all about lock-downing an area. So, for instance, if a Guardian Torments you then if you run away you take extra damage. Kind of like the opposite of the thief. If you run towards the thief then you take extra damage.

However, with these patch notes, the shortbow is now relegated to competing with the Axe, which makes more sense, as one is a pressure condition weapon (shortbow) and the other is a spike condition weapon (axe).
How I see it shortbow is not supposed to competing with the longbow or the axe. It’s supposed to bridge the gap between the two. Axe range should be 900, Shortbow should be 1,200, and longbow should be 1,500. At the very least, if they’re going to nerf shortbow range, then they need to add a trait to increase the range back to 1,200 like how the longbow has the range trait.
Rangers are supposed to be the “range” class. This change is huge because it pigeon-holes any ranger that wants to outrange other classes into using the longbow. The longbow already has a 1,500 range (with trait) which makes it higher than shortbow. If you want people to use longbow over shortbow then buff the longbow, don’t nerf the shortbow. You even added a damage increase to the shortbow skills EXCEPT the main damage dealer, crossfire, which is like rubbing salt into the wounds.
You can repeatedly drop the kits by clicking on the kit in your inventory. We need moar investigation kits everywhere!
Sylvarri, because I don’t like their voices.
