The thing is, when you allow necros to have good escapes and survivability, they become broken. I’d suggest Spectral Walk become an F2 skill and that’s it. Nothing else.

Necros are stuck in the opposite side of the spectrum than eles, theres just one thing for ’em (heals or dmg) and so they spec to fulfill that role at the maximum exponent, which makes more or less balanced builds, but also frustrating to play due to the obvious flaws. Both of them need some trait lines reworked to make sustain (maybe death magic) and DPS (maybe air or arcane) builds viable.

You can reflect them back at the rev if you felt like it. If he doesn’t attack, then he’s blowing time for his charges. No one camps Shiro to keep ED up, so running from him 50% of the time is a joke. Other classes, like thief, can completely negate this heal, so your concept of ‘unfair’ is a little out of line just because what YOU play isn’t as well equipped to do so. If the OP was jumped by two condi classes, he would have died guaranteed with Endure Pain anyway.

Does the skill hurt? Yes, it’s supposed to be a dps heal, and it is, even if we don’t like it the way it is, it’s what we have to work with. The base healing is total garbage and relies on the lifesteal to do its job. It has very clear ways of being dealt with, and if it was too easy to avoid, then there’d be no use to it at all.

As a healing skill, it’s extremely unreliable and does NOTHING if you get cc locked or can’t attack for whatever reason, it gets blocked or reflected. So while you cry about it doing damage like it’s supposed to, other people are using it to heal themselves or taking advantage of the poor healing it does to force the rev on the defense so he can’t make use of it in the first place.

I pretty much main engineer, so reflecting ED its ez pz, which by any means changes the fact that you cant negate the damage, and so a bad design. Also, ofc no rev is going to camp shiro, I was just stating how ridiculous is the pretension of having to run from ED as someone proposed. Im not saying its broken kitten , forums are more and more dumb each day lol, nor saying i have difficulties beating revs, im just showing how badly designed this heal is

The whole point of this post is that you cannot evade ED, wth are you on? You can double dodge UA if you feel like it, after that he will just PS and quickness AA you to death with the 6 ED charges. The only way to avoid ED dmg is blocking/dodging for 15s straight, pretending to do that is ridiculous. Trying to say that the only burst a rev has is ED is ridiculous. Trying to said that rev is bad without ED is ridiculous. Comparing ED with a guard trap is ridiculous. And lastly, I’ve said that im totally on for a qol change to ED with buffs to other underperforming areas, disagreeing with it is ridiculous if you actually care about rev.

You do realize it last for 15secs…and sw3 takes up a good chunk of time…and you can just run around till it’s down? NOT consuming it and playing around it is two different things, you just suck if you don’t understand that concept, lets nerf Rev only good thing going for them. I play a mesmer main and ED isn’t even that big of a deal so clearly you guys are doing something wrong because Rev drops like a fly.

So we’re supposed to run for 15s in order to play around ED? thats your idea of game design? running from the rev 50% of the time? lul

Rev counters thief? Really? I mean, they have lots of ways to deal with a thief (revel, aoe damage, cc, nice sustain). The only thing you have to be careful about is steal.

But yea, dragonhunter is aids for a thief compared to a revenant (traps …)

OP has a point, dunno what are you all smoking. If rev was rly balanced (which it isnt) and this fix would make him drop from the meta, then buff smth else. But the fact that you guys are against changing smth that its clearly bad designed+from a class that is over performing blows my mind. You can make it so missing charges doesnt do dmg but still heal you, but what we have now is clearly unfair.

Guardians:
-can block, heal, and use invulnerability (consequently they can survive a 1vs1 forever)
-can deal insane amounts of damage in a short amount of time with traps
-can provide boons for teammates
-has an insane amount of mobility for a melee class
-can choose to lay traps and shoot enemies from ridiculously long range

I’ve come to the conclusion that class balance in this game simply doesn’t exist. I’ve been playing mmo’s ever since I was 5, and I have never seen a game come out with such overpowered classes.

The problem in PvP nowadays is there’s way too much friggin sustain. Killing people isn’t fun anymore because it takes forever to end someone. Whereas, in any other game, you meet someone and either kill them or get wrecked by them within a span of seconds. Yet I repeatedly find myself having 10+ minute fights with guardians, warriors, revenants, and elementalists… guardians obviously being the worst of the pick. Another problem is that people white knight PvP to death, saying it’s fine when it’s the worst PvP I’ve played of any game, ever.

Obviously you are both bad and disgusted by this games pvp, so just dont play it instead of posting whatever in forums

Stacking 5 guards might not be that bad if the game mode didn’t involve trying to capture a point, that is coincidentally the exact same size as DH traps. Stacking lets say 5 thieves, what advantage do you gain?? Well you get mobility… that’s about it. Stacking 5 DH will almost ensure that no one will get a point easily, and coupled with their damage output, and defensive capabilities makes them extremely overpowered when stacked(assuming they aren’t total scrubs).

My point still holds, stacking 5 necros is op cause they can put a lot of pressure in a point with marks and DS

But that pressure is nullified by the tremendous amounts of condi clear that’s available to many professions, essentially canceling out any fatal pressure that a group of 5 necros would lay out. Necro’s are strong, but the general consensus this season, is that Necros are near the bottom, only slightly better than ele and thief in a group composition. So stacking 5 inferior classes would not have as dramatic of an effect as stacking 5 trap laying guardians with direct physical damage.

DH pressure is nullified by the tremendous amount of dodges, blocks and immus flying around, so mood point. Btw, what do you mean by general consensus? forum opinion or what?

First of all, I am correct. You may have different methods, but what I said is engi’s greatest weakness next to condis, and we don’t use condis at the moment.

Second, your solution of retaliation isn’t even a boon that is readily available for us. A single CA combo is not going to kill a scrapper. Best case scenario, they just kite you for a few seconds and then continue the fight. To kill an engi, you need to use either condis or CC, and CC is our only option at the moment. Passively killing a competent player is never going to work.

Well there is a third option, engis are weak to very high damage, but we don’t have that either.

cc isn’t stronger versus engis all of a sudden. the only time where cc really locks down engis is when you cc them right out of elixir s proc, outside of this one moment in a duel, cc is actually stronger versus other classes (invo revs or other druids) and are required to win a duel. against engis it certainly isn’t the key to winning.

You do realise that a single blast of aoe retal followed by a heal results in around 20 seconds of retal on your pet right? yea you only get about 6 or 7 or somekitten like that, but your pet gets TONS which is a HUGE amount of pressure for the constant damage ticks an engi uses. I don’t mind showing you; in game or with a video.

It also “counters” bristleback reflect, so yep its rly good against engies

I don’t understand why u say “farmed.” If you are one the few that can’t kite properly than play staff….It is made for brain dead combat…Enjoy it…

For the rest of the players who actually wanna pvp without having to be forced into support…Play this…or w/e works for you as long as it works…

Staff aint support when playing dps, its dmg and utility. Im main nec, and quite good at it, so I would say I know how to postion myself and kite. The fact that you either get farmed by thieves/revs, nullified by eles/engies, or exploded by good necros has nothing to do about kiting properly. Either you suck whole match or you spend all the time running like a chicken. Im talking about good players btw.
And just to point this out, im quite sure lb is the most braindead weapon for ranger. Staff being good while other weapons arent doesnt make it and the players that use it ‘braindead’, more like actually smart.

Does stun break remove the tether even when hes not pulling yet?

No, but you can stunbreak while hes pulling you if you’re fast enough. You can also for example use mesmer staff#2 and “mitigate” the pull so it doesnt make you cross the trap

Ele and Engi are very similar in what they can do supportively for the team. There are ways Engi is better and there are ways Ele is better. Denial is the better team because they have more practice playing with what an Ele can do.

R55 showed that Scrapper works…unfortunately their team (and others using Engi over Ele) aren’t practiced around having an Engi on the team as support. This hurts those teams hard.

I know why Rank 55 lost and it wasn’t because they were using Engie. I know that for a fact but for you to think that Rank 55 is less practiced than Denial, that’s just laughable mate.

Did you even watch the tournament?

Denshee was dead the second he was left alone and used obby flesh, he was basically in group 24/7, expecting the same level of cover in soloq or everyday pvp..it’s pure lunacy

To say that Denial won because they had an ele…it’s madness…the first match was between Vermillion(no ele) and TeamPZ(Zoose as ele), guess who won?..ha yes yes..Vermillion.

In my post you quoted, did the words “Denial won because they had an Ele” appear? Are you not just making assumptions? All I said was, Denial didn’t win because they practiced more. And I didn’t say the reason why they won. If you think I was implying that they won because they had an Ele then you would be wrong.

Also, my general point is, Ele is strong in team fights therefore, it is a better choice to go with Ele than Engie. This is because it is more risky to try saving someone when they go down, than to just heal them up so that they DON’T go down at all.

The bro had no stunbreakers outside the 5s wait overload that can be easily interrupted anyway.

Denial was playing very aggressively and so the ele was never forced in a typical team fight like the ones in soloq where you die instantly once your obby flesh expire.

Go watch Vermillion vs TeamPZ and see how strong ele is in teamfights and we’re talking about ESL, as it stands now if you go soloq you’ll meet 2-3 DH on a point and you’re in a team that will force feed the DH…..and all your support is melee range

Ele strong in teamfights?….the class now is just a healbot with no dmg or hard dmg mitigation, anything outside coordinated esl teams will melt instantly in the soloq chaos

Maybe you didn’t get the memo, majority of people here hate to play healbot, it’s boring AF and it’s overly dependent on having above average teammates to accomplish anything, something not really feasible for your average soloq

Did you read what I even wrote? There is nothing wrong with them individually (I never questioned their individual abilities). As a team there was. That’s what I was getting at.

Denial is a better TEAM and that’s how they dominated and proved it.

Fact is: Throwing together the best individual players of a class on a team together isn’t going to make them a great TEAM. They need to practice and Denial clearly had more of that.

I would actually say that 55 has more team experience than Denial, but Denial had way more confidence and their comp kinda countered engi rezz, making 55 work harder to pull out and that gave them the upper hand. I dont think Denial is better than 55 tho.

Hehehe, it’s funny how you guys come out of the woodwork after you watch the WTS. Really, Warrior is fine. I believe it was some of you here who said Ele is bad because no team is playing it and all of a sudden Eles were being used in every team in this WTS. Wow, I wonder why… cos they certainly weren’t buffed in any of the recent patches.

So if YOU guys are the ones saying Warrior is bad and needs a buff… yea, I wouldn’t believe you even if you gave me a million pounds.

Thieves don’t need buffing, Warriors don’t need buffing. In fact, if you don’t see a Warrior replace Necros in the next WTSs, I’d be very surprised.

Ekhem 2/3 teams with ele’s where hard stomped (PZ, ASTRAL….I don’t know what had Never Lucky)

DENIAL used ele only to counter specific combo and players…not because it’s good.

WTS proved that this is the worst season for ele that is on bring of extinction thanks to druid/scrapper duo, nerfs, 0 build variety and no amulets havig both toughness and healing power (ele don’t have hard damage migration and almost every healing skill is garbage without stats).

I guess Sindrener specifically saying that ele comps are better than engi comps was bs then

The class you’re looking for is rev, but while you dont have HoT some alternatives are:

Power warr, full melee class with some sick combos and high damage and sustain. Also, warr is the most forgiving/simple class for starters.
Medi guard, pretty much like power warr, different playstyle, but similar pros, high burst, sustain, and noob friendly.
Power signet necro, it isnt full melee and you need to kite properly, but due to the fact that this kind of mechanic/playstyle is rly different from what you see in wow maybe you may like it. Its also the one that requires more skill from the three alternatives.

minions have been a more appealing option since Anet rweorked them so they actually attack and stuff like this, but their active skills are still rly bad most of the time, and improving this would definitely be a huge step to making minions competitive.

Things like Blood fiend not healing you in Shroud, a blind in the shadow fiend that is not instant, and an immob in a 50s cd kinda makes pet skills useless in most situations. So waddaya think about reworking/improving some of the skills so minions and death magic can get a lil bit more of our dark love?

Hybrid designs will always fail

As soon as an hybrid build can fulfill a role, unless the specialist build is way way way better than him (aka broken af), the hybrid build will prevail. And this is pretty much the statement that defines meta builds since last years, builds that can fulfill the maximum roles possible minimizing this way the weaknesses of the build and so making it safer and better. An hybrid build isnt a build that can make succesful use of two stats, but that can take different roles in different situations, or confront different roles in different situations.
Thats why meta builds are always considered “cheesy”, which in fact has nothing to do with the skill curve needed to play such builds at the very best, but the safety to be able to confront most given situations without being in a bad position (matchups, rotations, human factor, etc). While some professions have more affinity to be succesfully hybrids and others more affinity to be broken in some aspects (op specialists), every class has more or less hybrid aspects attached to it as a result of the complexity of the combat system.

As for eles, I guess you can ask for more build diversity, but suport ele is totally viable, so…

tl;dr: succesful hybrid builds are the ones that can fulfill more roles with less counters, and so optimizing the number of favoured matchups and making it a safer bet (therefore is not by any means tied to professions, but combat design and so applicable to everyone), which pretty much defines every single meta build without taking into account comp combos or broken stuff.

It does come from shadowstep mechanisms, which doesnt mean its not intended. And yes, as a thief this can kitten you up more than with other professions, so you need to play around it

It is the best offhand for power builds. But they are not in the meta, currently.

Warhorn is the best offhand no matter the build.
