In my case, it was simply the dislike for leaving things undone. I tend to be highly organized and logical when it comes to games. The achievements list was not only a set of goals, it was an in my face challenge to do it all….
…And then I found the jumping puzzles. Oh boy. I laughed, I cried, I frustrated the kitten out of myself, and then finally tossed in the hat. My OCD inner demon was forced to lie down and submit to the fact that those…just aren’t going to happen aaaaaanytime soon.
…Then came the holiday achievements, and the living story with their one offs and time locks. I think the inner demon may finally have died….
That being said, I find my game play much less stressful and carefree when I just…don’t care. The achievements are still goals for me, but nothing I am in a mass rush to complete. I try for each living story goal, and if I get it..woohoo, if I don’t..oh well. I only really worry about getting enough for the meta anymore. Beyond that, I’m not going to stress myself out over whether or not I’m going to manage any additional achievement within the given time frame (especially when it involves jumping puzzles!)
Oh, without a doubt, Especially if its something account locked and not tradeable.
I’d be surprised if Anet didn’t do ‘something’ for character birthdays. Or maybe, since everything is pretty well account based, maybe they will just do one annual ‘account’ birthday for you, which might actually be a little easier.
Of course, I’m expecting some type of game birthday celebration as well. I guess we’ll see in about a month, won’t we?
(I’m still voting for birthday minis. Me likies my minis, hehehe..although if they are character based bdays again, I really need to stop rerolling my chracters if I ever want gifts haha)
Each dragon is an extension of the personal story, more personal story (as Colin stated in the live stream yesterday) is something that would traditionally be added via an expansion. So each dragon, its story, and subsequent battles/defeat should equate (theoretically) into an expansion a piece. Makes sense, if you think about it.
Now, we’ve been told that we will not see a new dragon this year. We’ve also been told we’re not likely to see an ‘expansion’ next year either. Colin has also stated (yesterday) that at this point they haven’t decided if they are going to do ‘traditional’ expansions, or if they are going to roll out it similarly to a living world patch (which could be pretty cool, depending on how things are implemented). Either way, lot of logistics and development involved there.
As I keep saying, have patience. Expansions aren’t generally done in the first year of a mmo’s life (or even the second).
[I think I need to change my darn signature to patience is a virtue. sheesh]
I run knights and valk, with a few zerk trinkets to round out my punch. I plan on swapping my armor to celestial once I can afford to craft it though, which will require me to do some reworking. (Staff ele primary).
I know someones going to scream about that but meh, they can lick my toes. I play how I want to play, and celestial fits my jack of all trades style. XD

I did them both many times, and if I ever do fractals, I’d do MF again. Don’t really care for AR myself though.
Still, the people I see hollering for it (search the forums) are those that have done it, and want to do it some more. Yes, there are those that didn’t get to do it, that want the chance, but there are as many (if not more) that ‘didnt get their fill’ while it was around.
The new ‘from scratch’ fractal might be interesting though, depending on which one we get….
Edit: Oh yeah….as for skipping….speed clears and their like FTL. You shouldn’t be able to skip, run past, or otherwise dance around this stuff. If you jumped in to do it, you should have to do it.

I dont think so. I’ve only ran 20, came in dead last my first run, and got the back skin from the chest. Think its the wind one. Not on my computer presently, so I cant log in to look.

Yes, we know its boring after a while. Anyone that has ever made multiple alts will feel like that at some point or another. Either they suck it up, or they don’t play the alt. Its really that simple.

Human, or Norn. Probably human though, for armor and character design options. Asura and sylvari are rather limited in character design. Asura and Charr armor is just sort of ‘meh’ to me.
Vigil. I’m a blunt, straight forward kind of gal. If it bugs me, kill it. Works for me.
The Aetherblade JP in G-Fields? Afaik, that remained as a permenent addition to the game. So I would think the dive would still be there.
Adding increased rewards to first place could motivate people to be more competitive.
Apart from that just keep the system as is, the people who really earned the title will know it, and everyone else will be slowly eaten away on the inside by all-consuming guilt.
This sort of assumes that people aren’t being competitive already, or that all those that haven’t achieved it are ‘bad’ on a skill based level. Neither of which is necessarily true.
Ex1: Some people may never achieve it due to connection issues, which they have absolutely no control over.
Ex2: There are some that won’t bother with the mini-game and could care less about that achievement. Has nothing to do with their skill, its just not their thing.

It’s weird to me too. For some odd reason they decided only certain things should be account wide. It would have been more revolutionary to have kept everything account wide instead. I personally have a longer list of things that should have been account wide imo.

~ achievements (only certain ones) like the world exploration one, meanwhile separating certain achievmeents like dailies so they could be accomplished on multiple toons per day.
just two more I can think of at the moment in my current Carb Coma I’m dealing with from lunch.
I think part of the intent behind the account based daily was for people that play on more than one character a day. This way the effort put forth, no matter which chracter they were on, could be contributed to the daily. Instead of starting it on one, but losing all that progress if you switch for some reason (like if you started out farming on one character, but then swapped to another to do a dungeon with your guild mates). Another upside to the ways this works, if you can easily do the daily on one character, but take the reward for it on another, that you need the xp on, or something.
Gold is account based, just shove it in your bank and then grab it on the character you want it on….
I do agree that Karma should be ‘account’ based. It should just be one pool that all your characters can pull from.

I caught myself using it instead of cussing while talking to a couple coworkers earlier, and boy did I get a couple of interesting looks, which required me to then explain, which made them laugh.
On the otherhand, I feel bad when people keep trying but just cant get it, same if it were to happen to me. I get frustratced loss after loss, which happened in Dragon Bash with Dragon Ball, that I did not earn all of those.
Lol, this describes the story of my life. They say practice makes perfect, but no…no it doesn’t. chuckle In some cases practice simple equates to mounting frustration.
well it’s pretty clear that they aren’t separate because of the number of account bound things, like dailies, monthlies, only 5 guilds etc etc
I guess they should just roll things back to GW1 style – no dailies, no monthlies, and character based achievement/titles, 1 guild membership at a time, etc. That would make having to play everything all over again on another character, so it could have whatever title/achievement, more meaningful to you.
I can see people getting grumpy if you are winning repeatedly, back to back to back, still…no call for being kittens to you though. I’ve been grumpy about my lag, but its just poor sportsmanship there.
Now, them teaming up on you, well that’s typical in any competition. You’ll always get a few small alliances while it benefits them to do it. I sort of expect that.

You realize this is part of the ‘charm’ to alts right? This is like saying ‘why do I have to redo the story on an alt’ or ‘why do i have to reunlock a mission’ (in gw1). Your alt is a completely different character, its a newborn. It hasn’t experienced the story, the world, whatever.
Normally I’d agree with you but,……
since everything in this kitten game is now being stream lined to be minable / doable by a single character per day, I say unlock all way points for all my alts account wide when you reach 100% world completion on your main leave the hearts and vistas on a per character basis.
If my alts do NOT have the right to the same rewards per day as my main than the point of it being a completely new and entirely different character is MUTE
So….your argument, is that because you now no longer have to worry about redoing all the achievements across ‘x’ number of characters, the ‘experience’ of growing that character is moot? I disagree. Growing a character, exploring the landscape (instead of just grabbing gold and going) is part of the game play. Its the downside, and the upside to an alt.
If they are just going to open the whole map for your alt, why not just hand her to you as a fully leveled 80 with max armor while they’re at it. I mean, after all, you don’t want to experience her anyway, you just want it handed to you.
Edit: This isn’t really any different than having to get to the town in order to open it for later mapping in GW1, or needing to discover the flightpath before you could use it in WoW. You had to do it for each character there too.

This is actually exactly what I’m aiming for by being willing to speak up. They do have a code of conduct (not that I’m sure 99% of us bothered to read it). It might need some tweaking, but I think they need to be a little more stringent.
Am I innocent in regards to sometimes being a kitten? Nope. None of us are; and some people get infracted and it cools them off. Others continue, but never seem to have any penalty beyond a slap on the wrist. And lets face it, as grumpy and confrontational I admit I am, there are some on here that are really far worse than me. Pull out that ban hammer mods and don’t be afraid to use it!

But seriously, I see what you and some others are doing and it’s a great thing. Makes me smile knowing there are people who don’t use anonymity to hide behind but think that things like manners, decency, rationality etc go beyond face-to-face communications.
Maybe email a mod and just let them know you have been noticing a trend on the forums? Might get you further. If they ignore it, well, then you’ll know it’s all good with them.
I send reports often, generally with lots of detail and citing additional posts by the ‘offender’ to support the report and my thoughts on it.
Ooh, ranking achievement is a great idea, and would solve a lot of issues.
Poor sportsmanship is never good, is it? I agree that I would think the person winning for 3+ hours might think perhaps they should go and do something else, but some people really like winning, lol. I would admit to being annoyed if I saw this.
But equally, I cannot stand people demanding people just let them get things that others worked for. If someone wants to let them go ahead of them, that’s totally fine. I have no problem with that. I earned my title fair and square. But I HATE it when people demand such things as a right. It’s not a right. It’s a race, a competition. Blooming well compete and don’t be a sore loser, lol. :p

I know, and I completely agree.
Even with my….uh…less than 10 fps (don’t even ask about my ping, its scary), I’ve never considering saying ‘hey, could you just…let me win this one?’ It just don’t work that way. 2nd place is my best thus far, and that was after 2 hours of straight racing (actually, might have been closer to 3, but who’s tracking here) last night. Still it got mighty annoying to watch the same 3 people take the top 3 spots in 99% of the races. Felt pretty kitten good I edged them out finally.
No, of course not. I’m terrible at racing games and jumping puzzles etc, and I managed to properly win the race, so people CAN do it.
Also, um, it’s a race. And the title is an achievement. People who ask for others to hold back so they can win have neither raced nor achieved anything, so it sort of nullifies the point.
If others who have won several times WANT to let others cross the line first, that’s an entirely different matter. That’s up to them. But really, come on people, it’s a race.

I admit seeing the same person win over and over again can be annoying. However, it is a competition, although there are obvious tiers of competence among the participants. (and of course, those of us with less than stellar pings have no hope of first…..ever)
One would think that some people, that continually take first, would get bored – feeling like there isn’t really any competition. I kind of think that perhaps a ranking method might be helpful, similar to the hot join pvp – if you continually win, you get matched up against others that continually win (can take number of wins, time to finish, vs time of other participants to finsh, etc into the calculation here). Make it more competitive, in a sense.
The only time it bothers me, is when they start rubbing it in your face. But then again, I take issue with poor sportsmanship of any kind.
I particularly like the current content. So do lots of people I’ve talked to.

Yes, there’s something good about removing it. It keeps people playing together instead of separating out. I mean when the new content comes, people aren’t going to mostly stay here. They’re going to move on.
I don’t think that it has anything to do with the content being removed. It’s more about content being new.
Actually his point that by removing it, it keeps the population together by forcing them along the path is valid.
If they’d left it all in, the population would fracture (more so than it already does with just having so many maps)….those that continue with “content a” even after the release of “content b” and those that move on to “content b.” Some of those people, by the time they get bored of “a” and move on to “b” may have issues completing “b” because now the population has moved onto….content “c” through “t.” With each chunk, the population thins. At what point does the previous content become ‘irrelevant’ because it now no longer interests enough people to successfully complete it?
Honestly, it doesn’t seem like it takes all that much time, please see the complaints about not being able to do the Karka Queen meta in Southsun as one example. Please search and review the numerous threads about not being able to find dungeon groups for any number of paths, especially story mode, and the threads regarding people feeling alone in the world zones and thus unable to complete the events in them. Don’t forget the various threads complaining about lack of replayability and the large desire to not bother with alts. The last several examples are of permanent world content, stuff that has been around since day one and shows very well the validity that lots and lots of permanent content falls into disuse as the player base fractures.
That being said, is Living Story perfect? No, some people take issue with it. It doesn’t leave enough impact. It doesn’t last long enough. I agree it could use some tweaks, a better mix of what is left behind and what is not. Colin has said that this is coming, and we’ll see how that goes.

P.S. I find it ironic that there is a thread made specifically to complain about people complaining. Not that they don’t need to learn some manners, but still … ironic thread.
Also, even more ironic that this has devolved into a complaint thread completely OT (eg the “am I a casual player” stuff that’s crept it’s way in). I think, that this says it all, OP. People will complain about anything.

However, I look at it this way. If no one ever steps forward to say something about the issue (ie, the massive amounts of non-constructive negativity on this forum), then it is less likely to be addressed. Possibly never addressed, as by remaining silent, people assume that the views/behaviors are acceptable, when in truth they aren’t.
We (generally) don’t accept it ‘in the real world,’ we really shouldn’t on the net either. By letting it go here, and accepting it, we are starting to see it reflected in the real world (have been for quite some time really) and its sending the wrong messages. It really is about time that we start setting some boundaries, and enforcing some basic manners, imo.
disgusted about some people’s complaints about the new achievement point rewards? honestly, how greedy can you be. you’re lucky to even get anything for the amount of points you have and yet all you do is complain. I for one am happy with what I’m given. I have a good amount of badges of honor (some of you were complaining about how difficult they were to get, and now when they’re being handed for free you still complain) and some really cool weapon skins. Let alone account bonuses, gold and even karma.

Ah, the old, ‘because I don’t like this game, everyone else must be casuals/bads/etc’ thing. Along with, ‘I play it even though I don’t enjoy it’ which makes no sense at all. You should play a game for what it is, not what you wish it would be, because you will never get everything you want out of one game. Not even the designers get everything they want out of their own game.
Well, they probably could, but Rules 101 of game design: you are not your target audience.
While it is true that they want to design a game that they as the devs enjoy, the truth is that they do have to add or program things they may not necessarily want to so it will be more appealing to their target audience, in order to sell the product. As with all products, this also means that the game isn’t going to appeal to everyone, and nor should it. Sadly, some people just don’t understand the last concept and still expect it to be more tailored to them instead.

snicker oh send them back further. Back to original NES with pac-man and bubble bobble. If they bought it and didn’t like it, their only option was to go spend more money on a different game. Stores didn’t buy games back, and you sure as heck didn’t have any say in what you “actually” got.
In my experience that’s normal for all MMO official forum communities. If you go by them, all MMO games suck, all games are dying all the time, all devs are clueless idiots, and every player would know better what to do with the game, no matter how positive the reaction might be elsewhere. The only exceptions I’ve seen are usually for lower profile and lower population games, like The Secret World.
And actually, I have to say that in comparison, these forums aren’t that bad… you should have seen the Age of Conan forums shortly after release (shudders).
Just because people act like that on forums doens’t make it right. It doesn’t make it ok, and it kitten well shouldn’t be considered acceptable behavior. However, nothing will change if nothing is even attempted to curtail it.

I personally do not bother with the content that is being spoken of so it does not sway me one way or another cause its all over powered level 80 events that will destroy us lower levels and drive us to leave anyway. It already forces a group to play even PvE most of the time. Which I have found a way to keep solo on most of it. I do not bother with WvW or PvP cause its all the same forced group playing and having to be level 80 so before anyone can actually be involved they have to be level 80 to even do it. So I would miss it all anyway with most of my characters.
You do get upscaled, although admittedly with the lower armor that’s only partly helpful. Still, I’ve been able to do the events on my lvl 8 Necro and lvl 10 mesmer without dying more than a couple of times.
I’m not sure that the majority is complaining. I’ve seen no one in game say anything but positive stuff about the rewards. Granted, my server is TC so the community there is pretty mellow.
I was speaking in regards to the forum community, and it does feel like a good chunk of them are whining about one thing or another. If not the rng, its the content. If its not the content, its the skins, or the freebies. It goes on and on and on. Self-centered, narcissistic…clears throat, I’ll simply stop there, it’s impolite and immature of me to label people/call names. However, I will state that this attitude seems to be a growing plague among the forum community and should be addressed by the moderators, and simply asking/reminding people to be polite doesn’t seem to be working.
In regards to the community in the game itself; yes, in pve is does seem to be much healthier/polite/positive. I’ve heard a few state that they personally didn’t care for the skins, but they liked what Anet was going for at least.

Thank you Morrigan. Seriously, if I acted anything like a lot of the people on here when I was growing up, my mama would have taken a belt (or a shoe, or even a wooden spoon) to my hind end. (and as old as I am, she probably still would if I acted like it today!)
They give you rewards for achievements, they get slapped in the face.
They try to give you things to work for, they get slapped in the face.
They try to give you content tidbits to do every couple of weeks, they get slapped in the face.
They try to make a more challenging dungeon, they get slapped in the face.
They try to give you more mini-games a change of pace, they get slapped in the face.
They try responding positively to the harassment on these boards, they get slapped in the face.
Wow, people, just wow. I am ashamed to be even remotely considered associated with the majority of this community.
I realize this is a game, and we all have things we would like. I realize this is ‘teh internetz’ but when and why has that ever made it ok to be a self absorbed, pretentious kitten?! That is not ok, and I think its about time that some people learned some manners (and I seriously think the forum moderators need to enforce it)!
If you don’t like what they are giving you… fine, you say thank you with grace and move on. You find something else to do in the game, or you find a different game that is more to your taste. You don’t start rolling around on the ground in a tantrum like a spoiled toddler, demanding that you be given what ‘you want.’ Many of you claim to be older, mature adults….start acting like it!

I know anet was trying (at least in the beginning) to keep pvp and pve currencies separate. As long as no ‘pay 2 win’ possibilities come into play, I don’t see an issue with it personally.
As for glory farming… don’t see how it would be any different than speed clearing. People do what they are good at as their means of obtaining gold.

I honestly don’t care one way or another in regards to the leader boards for points.
What precisely do they tell me? A lot of points, not a lot of points, they don’t tell me anything about the person. Someone with few points could be a great player, but not goal-centric, so hasn’t wracked up a bunch of them. Someone could have bunches of them, but is mediocre at best, they only have ‘a lot’ because they’ve spent 10 hours a day 7 days a week in the game. Or they could a brand new player, with prioritized goals, but not a huge amount of time to work on them each day. I could keep going here, but you should be able to see my point.
They’re only really “useful” between friends for things like fun competition. Beyond that, just meh. Judge not the book by its cover, and the AP leaderboard is just that, another type of cover.
Some of your points I agree on, others I don’t. I do agree that we need more story ‘in the game’ for the Living Story. Marjorie’s back story for example, which was told via the main site, should have been in the game. Would have made one heck of a cut scene, or perhaps implemented as an information scavenger hunt/quest (to learn about this woman you are now suddenly working with).
Yes, having the cutscenes and such in there does make the story better, more immersive imo. Hopefully we will see more of this moving forward. We had another small one at the beginning of Bazaar as well, and I take it as a good sign that more and more of such may be added as we see more development in the stories, which we should see. Colin has stated that the first 6 months has basically been a grand beta test/data collection period. So we’ll see where they go with it. Then again, the stories in GW1 (while overall good) wheren’t amazing either in and of themselves, it was their presentation and the adventure that made them an enjoyably repeatable thing.
As for dynamic events…yes, some (possibly many) of the simpler ones do seem shallow. Possibly they repeat to much to be truly savored, I don’t know. If they weren’t as frequent people would probably gripe about not having anything to farm for XP. Some of the later webs don’t feel as shallow, they could still use some work, but they aren’t as bad. So maybe part of the issue is lack of content to work with for the smaller chains. Anet has added DEs in since launch, it is possible that we could eventually see some low level and/or cross zone webbed DE’s which could add some story depth to the world. I think something along these lines would be interesting and potentially challenging.
The game has a lot of potential, and I have lots of patience. So I’m content to watch, wait, and possibly send Colin hate mail is he lets me down with his grand promises. On the other hand, when they make me happy, I gladly shuffle some money into gems. =)

Yes, I did say that…in the context of that is exactly what would happen if they just kept dropping the living story stuff into the game and leaving it. I supported my argument for temporary content with current in games issues (citing dungeons, alt unfriendliness), and could further expound upon it here, even citing the issue as it stands in other games as well, but I won’t. However, if you’d read the last paragraph at all, you would see where I imply the some static content is still welcome.
You’re going on about festival events as if they should be around year long? I never said anything about festivals and of kittening course it wouldn’t make sense to have those year round!
I’m talking about things like Molten Alliance and stuff like that! That should be clear….seriously wtf…..
Dragon Bash was simply an example. Yes, it will come back next year because it is a festival; however, the point was that events (like festivals) happen and then go away. Sometimes they recur (like a birthday), sometimes they don’t (like a sweet 16 party, you’re only 16 once). I did close with stating that Living story is not the be all, end all answer to all issues in the game. Followed by everything cannot, and should not be temporary and that lasting effects are required. I have also stated that those lasting effects need not be huge each time, since not all events have a dramatic impact on the world. Some are very subtle, and this is how it should be in game. A mixture of static, and temporary, of dramatic and subtle.
Events like these will have to be adjusted in some ways so they don’t conflict with the evolving world, but there’s no reason why the instanced parts can’t still remain including dungeons!
Considering we blew up the dungeon at the end of it, how would it’s remaining in the world not be a direct contradiction to the story component it added? I guess I could see leaving an exportable destroyed version in the world, but that isn’t what you are asking for. Sure, I suppose we could go back to instancing everything, segregate the player base some more while we’re at it, but that’s ok. As long as everyone can have what they desire and to kitten with that Anet is trying to create.
As for these forums, they really are awful. People like me want the game to keep what’s made it fun and build on what’s being done to make the game better for others. So many people selfishly resisting just because they don’t want it or don’t believe it’s needed because they don’t need it. Even though it doesn’t interfere with their experience at all.
I want the game to become a living world. I like where it is going, and I can see where Anet is going with it. I think its great. Yes, I liked the MF dungeon. Yes, I would do it again should it return in some form or another (fractals map has already been suggested by some, and even hinted at by Colin); however, in the living world premise, I understand that to leave it in would be contradictory to what they are trying to do.
So no, I’m not against keeping the game fun. I’m not against building it into something amazing. My view on it is just different than yours, and I can appreciate what the developers are trying to do. I guess if that makes me an awful person, then you can just call me Queen Kitten.
I’m mostly a solo/duo player.
My guild consists of myself, my hubby, and 1 of our GW1 guildies. When my hubsand is on, we play together. When our guildie is on and not WvWing in his other guild, he’ll come join whatever I’m doing, but for the most part, it’s just lil ol’ me.
I’ve thought about rebuilding my guild, but considering the drama and bs I’ve had to deal with already (we had between 30 and 40 members prior to November when I booted everybody except my husband) I really don’t know if I want to. Maybe I just ended up with the wrong idgets, but I never had BS like that in GW1.
There’s a number of builds that I can see using it. I’ve personally seen ele, ranger, engineer, guardian, and necro builds that can make very effective use of celestial gear, mostly in WvW or other similar scenarios. Since the total stat allocation via celestial gear is much higher (and note, that’s ignoring the magic find), it frees up points from traits/runes/sigils to be used for specific effects, rather than stats, while maintaining effectiveness in other areas.

Since this builder doesn’t have celestial armor yet, I left off armor/trinkets. For a full set of celestial, put in 436 for power, precision, condi damage, toughness, vitality, and healing power, 58 for critical damage, and 44 for magic find. Taking into account the sigil of Corruption, add another 250 condi damage (686 total). You can also assume the presence of around 12 stacks of might and around 50% fury uptime. Two stunbreaks (editor is missing the stunbreaks added to the glyph and signet in the recent balance patch). You apply conditions with massive duration constantly, no matter what you’re doing. Attunement swapping poisons on next attack. 30% chance to burn on crit, with roughly 33% crit chance (not including fury). High bleed applications in earth (3 stacks for a very substantial duration on autoattack, Churning Earth applies 8 stacks). 30% chance to apply either more huge-duration burning (or a long-duration debilitating condition on hit) thanks to Glyph of Elemental Power. It looks almost like a condi build…
And yet, it deals unignorable direct damage: 73% crit damage is reminiscent of a berserker build, the 33% crit chance (boosted to 53% much of the time) is significant enough to apply the high crit damage consistently, and power, while not high by berserker standards, is at least significant (and is further boosted by might, as is condition damage).
Defensively, healing power helps out all of our various heals: Glyph of Elemental Harmony alone gives us over 50% regeneration uptime (if used consistently in water) and scales with a .75 ratio on the direct heal; Cleansing Wave, Water Trident, and Healing Ripple all get a nice 1.0 scaling ratio. Even Soothing Mist gets a tiny ratio (.05 per second, for an extra 29 health/second). While not exactly bunkerish, we also get enough health and armor to soak up a few hits, with over 19% damage reduction via toughness, and over 16,500 health.
You cannot replicate these stats to this extent without celestial gear. You can debate the build’s effectiveness all you want (I’ve found it remarkably effective in small-group combat in WvW), but you cannot ignore the fact that if an opponent has a weakness, this build can find and exploit it. Vulnerable to kiting? Meet perma-cripple. Burst damage? Say hello to constant weakness, significant self-healing, kiting, and significant return burst damage. Forget your condi removal? You’ll get beaten down by conditions. Left your toughness weak? Burst damage via crits will make you wish you hadn’t.
Is it as good for PvE, where direct damage reigns supreme and ‘zerker is often considered the only way to be effective? No, not necessarily, though it’ll still have a blast (pun completely intended). The build isn’t minmaxed for any one thing, and Celestial fits that ethos perfectly.
Positively orgasmic. My ele is in heaven just thinking about it, and it works wonders for how I play, as I don’t specialize. I tend to be healing my teammates as much as I’m throwing out offensive/defensive boons, and doing damage.
I use Midnight Red, Celestial, and Antique Gold on my ele ‘right now’ but I’ve changed it depending on how it looks on the armor she’s wearing.

‘Release it again’? As long as you get the meta achievement (crstyal node) and get the recipes (which you can collect and throw in your bank until you can use them), you can craft it as you produce the materials. It isn’t going away….
However new players after this event will NEVER be able to get the recipe or armor after the recipes are all sold out.
Now if there was a way to keep up the supply of recipes for example the vendors were available outside of the event area and there permanently this would be a non-issue.
The Mining node and Quartz arnt account/souldbound neither are the Recipes. Just like Halloween Items, new players will have to pay alittle more to get the gear.
I Did Halloween but didnt know about the Crossing, 3 months later I bought the Recipes and materials.
I’m sure there will be people that get duplicate copies and hang onto them for sale at a later time.
I’m assuming at this point, that the merchants with the boxes that hold the recipes will be gone (at least temporarily) come the end of the event. However, with the story chatter about ‘securing a trade agreement’ between LA and the Bazaar, I do foresee this as becoming a recurring ‘event’ sort of like Darkmoon Faire in WoW. Now, how often it recurs is the big question. If it’s a relatively common thing, then there won’t really be too much issue with the recipes being ‘rare’ or potentially unobtainable.
With all the mats Ive been saving up (now they are all gone QQ) Ive bought over 100 supply boxes, I have some recipes that I got more than 20 of, I have a full 18 slot bag of recipes. after I short them out I too will hang on to the extras, not to up the price on TP but for friends and Guildies.
I have over 70 recipes right now (yes many are multiples) and honestly Im trying to get another 100+ Supplies.
I know some ppl with x10 the extra mats as me, I cant imagine how many they have.
I think they will stay in the TP for a long while.
By then Anet will have (Hoping) more recipes and ascended armor.

I’d like to get the greatsword for my mesmer, and the dagger(s) for my necro.
I’d also like a bow, and possible the scepter. I
l guess I should go hunt up the rewards information for the various tiers so I know if it’s even possible to get multiples, haha.
I don’t know what you mean to get multiples. You can get as many as you want once it’s unlocked. If you unlock the daggers, you can get dual daggers, without unlocking anything else…on every character that can use daggers.
I was thinking along the lines of multiple skins, since I could only select 1 from the chest I got last night. I hadn’t looked at the reward tiers as yet. Heck, I hadn’t even wikied the weapons yet, so I wasn’t aware that the skin was similar to HoM in its unlock feature. I’m functioning on like 2 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours (been sick, not fun), my brain is really slow haha.
With the pvp reqs for monthlies, I’ve never completed one. Oh well I guess….
Uh what? Since when we must do pvp/wvw to finish monthly?
There used to always be a ‘get x kills in wvw’ req in the monthlies. Although, perhaps not now since they changed them a bit. I’ve stopped paying attention to them, since WvW wasn’t really my thing.
You only have to do four of the monthlies to complete your monthly. I think it’s been like that since February. The monthlies have been pretty easy since then. I usually get them on like day 3 or 4.
Lol, like I said, I stopped really doing them/paying attention to them in November
Edit: Just for clarification, not getting them done doesn’t really bother me either. It is somewhat annoying to know that if I’d like to do them, I have to distinctly go out of my way in some cases (not all, but some), but I understand the point of it. I have plenty of things to do to earn myself APs, so I’m not stressing over a the few points from the dailies or monthlies.
