Are we discussing armor? Class? Or walking around without underwear in general here?
I’m actually game for both. (Both! Both is good). More in depth, rich DEs and LS.
I actually prefer that I can deposit them without having to find bank access. Since I carry an invis bag anyway, (and really, why wouldn’t you?) it’s not so terrible to whip open inventory and double click. We do it with food, all the darn time.
Ele downed state is weak in WvW/SPvP, now I’ve heard them all!
I guess it depends on the situation haha
I’d participate, but my pics are at home (at work atm). Maybe after I get home, I’ll toss one up. Could be fun, as long as I can use the ‘armor goal’ not the ‘current’ armor haha.
The elementalists downed state is terrible. Vapor Form is next to useless in WvW/PvP, and Grasping Earth is an absolutely terrible channeled skill that takes so long to cool down and cast it might as well just be an empty slot for all the good it does anyone.
Sadly, I’m going to have to agree here. Vapor Form needs to last a little longer so an ele can get the kitten out of dodge, cause there isn’t a snowflakes chance of taking someone not almost dead down with skill 1.
But I think the OP isn’t talking about downed, I think he’s talking about dead….as in caput, so I really want to know how to get back up from that without waypointing or someone being really nice and coming to save me.
So we will never face the other dragons and get new zones…
We had an entire story, several zones and much more for just one dragon: Zhaitan.
When we’re going to face the other dragons I expect nothing less. But they can’t fit 3 or more zones, a huge line of quests and all the content that comes with it in Living Story, there is just no way. Living Story content is just too small, insignificant and (mostly) temporary..Why would it be impossible for the Living Story, but not for an expansion?
If they’ve got 4 teams, what’s to say that one of them teams aren’t working on a massive update they’ll be released in 6 months time?
People are too caught up on labels to see that LS and expansions are exactly the same thing; content updates.
It’s technically possible of course, but up until now, al the LS updates have been tiny (mini game here, temporary dungeon there). I just don’t see it happening, but I really hope I’m wrong.
Colin said [recently] that the future LS will be larger and have more impact, since their teams now have more time with their rotations. We’ll see what they give us.
As I recall, Anet stated not long after launch that they would not be doing ‘race’ changes. It was part the response to the questions about make over kits, name changes etc (as we didn’t have them yet, and people wanted them.) We were told makeover kits and name changes eventually, but never race changes.
A moderator said 1 month ago in a smilar topic that they have told the devs about players keep asking for this feature. (Too sad the search fuction is broken, i’d like to give you the link about it.)
Devs are listening to what the players want, so this might come in the future.
Personally I’d love to see this feature coming with possible new races.Personally, I don’t want to see this feature. It sort of takes thought right out of selecting your race if you can just up and change anytime you want to at a later date. I know people have been requesting it, and I’ve thrown my view in each time. The mods may have relayed the requests to the devs, but I am hoping they stick by their original decision and not give us this option. Players should have to think long and hard about the pros and cons regarding race, and accept the responsibilities of selecting one that they turned out to not like.
As for new playable races, Colin stated in the relatively recent Twitch interview (discussing LS) that those are in the pipeline, but he wasn’t giving us any spoilers as to which we would see ‘first.’
Problem is how did I know at launch that armor was going to look terrible for charr?
The billion and one sites that had them up for preview? (at beta!)
The fact that anet has always, always had issues with clipping and that tail just screams ‘I have issues’?
Oh I could go on, but I won’t. Cause now I’m just been a PITA, hehe.
I been playing ele since beta….where do I get these bombs cause kitten, I want ’em!

Actually I think they would prefer you buy a new char slot, and then make another one. You’re more inclined to purchase boosts at that point to speed up the process, which nets them more than just a simple race change alone. Standard business practice really.
I would do that but I’m the kind of person who doesn’t enjoy repeating things and after leveling two characters to 80 one with world completion leveling is quite boring. I also already have decent gear on my guardian several of the story mode dungeons on him. Honestly unless a race change of some sort comes along ill probably just grit my teeth and try to ignore how bad most armor looks on charr.
This is always an option too. It really just boils down to how badly you want a different race.

Man, GW2 really dissapoints with their armor designs.
The only well designed armor is the t3 cultural in my opinion.
In which armor type (light, med, heavy)? For which race?
Either way, I think you’re on crack. There are several armors, across all 3 tiers that I personally love. I’m always game for more variety, but I think you’re not giving them enough of a chance if you’re that narrow.
Invisi-bag. =)
Works for me every time, and as for reactivating each map… could be worse….could only be in towns….
You have, what…5 slots to start with. Pick 2 or 3 to try, and play each one up to like level 10, just to get an idea/feel for the class. Obviously there will be a lot not covered, but you can get the general sense of the class, determine if you like its mechanics, if it suits your play style etc.
My recommendations would be Ele, Mes, Theif, or Necro, but those are just the classes I’m invested in playing atm and as such I’m comfy with. Since you like PvP and WvW…yeah I think all still apply, although thief not so much support as sneak in and aggravate….
@cesmode
Or maybe people just need to a take a kitten chill pill. Its a game, not a job.
The issue isn’t with Anet, its with the players.
They see us working away at the list of achievements they gave us ‘just because’ and they opt to reward us for time spent. Now, because there are rewards, a bunch of people that could give a kitten less before suddenly want the achieves? Ha! Sounds like a personal problem to me. They weren’t ‘good enough’ before because they didn’t give you the shinies? Sorry, but that’s pathetic.
We are the ones that cry ‘gimme gimme gimme’ and ANet attempts to comply. When they do, we holler and whine that what we wanted wasn’t handed to us on a silver platter, like spoiled children.
The players and their attitudes are the issue that needs to be fixed. Understanding that in a game you may not necessarily get everything. That if you don’t get something you want but someone else does, you accept it with grace and either move on or keep trying. That an ‘achievement’ should be earned (oh dear gods what a concept), not handed to you (Back to the spoiled child syndrome here). Sure, once in a while people are going to take the path of least resistance – a Mesmer port, the hand out, etc, that’s fine…just don’t expect it all the kitten time and again, this resides solely on the player. Only the player can choose to not be an entitled brat.
I’ve asked this and it falls on deaf ears. Everything has to be kept secret so people are surprised when things that they know will happen, happen. Ridiculous if you ask me. Why not have every ascended piece even the new stuff be made to purchase with laurels?
No, actually they keep things hushed until they are ready, or close to ready, because of how their so-called ‘fans’ react when they miss a deadline, or turns out they can’t actually do what they had been trying to do. They just don’t want to deal with the abuse/harrassment/etc, and I really can’t blame them.
Actually I think they would prefer you buy a new char slot, and then make another one. You’re more inclined to purchase boosts at that point to speed up the process, which nets them more than just a simple race change alone. Standard business practice really.
I liked the faction’s story. I felt it was told a little better than the Prophecies story, at least when it came to cohesiveness. I felt completely lost in Proph until I read stuff on the wiki later on, which made various things make sense. (Thats what I get for skipping text I guess)
The only thing I disliked about factions was Togo. I felt the need to bash him in the head maaaaany times, but never could.
Some additional detail as to what specifically he’s talking about would be nice.
Considering there are achievements for experiencing each race’s story and their various ‘steps’, being able to change races at will could potentially invalidate this.
I remember the days of ‘the healer’. Fun times. You’d get the inevitable barrage of abuse when someone died because they ran out of range or round a corner.
Usual response was “Why are you abusing the only person in the group who can keep you alive?” They either left or went quiet.
As a healer, I always stuck with the main part of the group. If someone ran off to do their own thing, that was their lookout.
You were probably not cut out to be a healer then.
Tanks and healers, are the MMO player base that glue the ultra random DPS together. We accept the abuse and cat herding, but we also adore it in a weird way. We mold it into a functional system, for lack or a better term.
Why U hate us, A-net?
The only thing I truly miss about playing healer is the ability to let the idiot die and then just leave them down.
“Rez me!”
“Why?”
insert group laughter hereOh how I miss those days….
The thing I miss about healing is pushing a group through a horrible PvE fight, with other healers coordinating together; even if the group wasn’t ready at all. Boss loot, ‘cha ching!’
PvP fights, following that one guy/girl and pushing him/her through a zerg of resistance without being noticed. DAT /highfive!
Yeah that.
Yeah good memories…
But still, I like the ‘change of pace’ that GW2 introduced. No more standing around hollering ‘glf healer’ for hours. Or worse, being the healer and having someone else think they know how you should play your class better than you. ‘Dont take that, take this’ Ugh. While I don’t mind suggestions, I tend to get peeved if I’ve done the content before, have played through it, and someone else thinks I can’t do it just fine with the build I’ve been using the whole time. One of those, ‘if you feel you can do it better, why arent you healing?’ moments.
I can still heal in this game. Im just not the person my teammates need to depend on wholeheartedly in order to survive. Thats on them, and I sorta like it. (Dont get me wrong, if I could port my monk over from GW1, I’d still do it!)
As I recall, Anet stated not long after launch that they would not be doing ‘race’ changes. It was part the response to the questions about make over kits, name changes etc (as we didn’t have them yet, and people wanted them.) However, I do feel bad that we don’t get a full armor set. I doubt ArenaNet will ever make the remaining armor pieces for Radiant and Hellfire. I also don’t know why, but I think it’s very hard to mix and match GW2 armors (it felt easier in the original GW), so having individual armor pieces just isn’t that great.
I wished they would finish the Radiant and Hellfire sets, even if the remaining pieces had no particle effect, just were fitting with the currently available parts.
I don’t know if they will finish making the sets. It looks like they have to whole concept art for at least the Hellfire. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
I don’t think its really any harder to mix-n-match here than it was in gw1. In either game, there are some pieces that don’t go with anything except the set for which they were designed. Others could go with practically anything, and then there are the few in between that look good with some but not with others. Of course, there are always those that select their armor components simply based on they like how that one pieces looks, and to kitten with how it fits into the set they are building, which results in some odd mismatches, but hey to each their own. If you like it, that’s all that matters.
Admittedly, having the pvp locker so I can play around with the majority of the skins and dye is a boon. Wish I’d had that in GW1! I don’t know how much plat I spent buying armor here, there, and everywhere just to see how they would go together, and then dying repeatedly to try and get the colors to match properly. Woo boy.

Oh how I miss those days….
I do try to rez people. Heck, I’ve been known to even go out of my way when I see a downed marker on my map just to help the person out (much to my husband’s dismay many times).
Admittedly, occasionally if someone kittened me off, I’ll just leave ’em down, but not often.
They try to give you a nice freebie as an extra reward for the time put into earning the achievements, and they get slapped in the face….
Ok so, since I don’t have all the armor for my chars for various reasons, to show my overall sets I simply opted to pop to the pvp locker and take screenies. So, my armor ‘goals’ if you will, are as follows:
Lanfear: Elementalist

Chest: Honor of the Waves
Hands: Vigil

Some dye tweaking is still necessary, but overall I’m content for the moment. Although, with the new Phoenix set, I found a couple more combinations that I like. =)
Personal birthdays – would like to see mini’s again. Would also prefer if those minis were not account bound, so if you get extras, you can sell the things.
Game anniversary – in game party / event would be nice. Something as simple as cupcakes like in the original and some minigames would be fine with me. Although, more storage space for the numerous trophies we have to collect (like their own crafting tab, only for trophies with a higher limit than 250. I mean, I have like 1200 badges in storage, takes a lot of space) for various things would be much appreciated, but I won’t hold my breath.
Since so many want to ‘duel in pve gear’ they should just add that as an additional option on custom arenas. ‘Pve Gear allowed – yes/no’
Really, it is positive for people who like it, whether or not some people use it to annoy others. And as many said already, a simple "ignore duels "option would go a long way to fix one of the most common complaints : I’m bothered by the fact that some kid somewhere may think that I’m a coward.
Ah yes, because if I don’t want to fight you I must be a coward.
See? It’s started already.Hyperdefensive much? I’m not suggesting it, but this line of thinking (unfortunately) exists and has to be taken into account, because it’s what annoys a lot of people.
Well, a simple autodecline option and, if necessary, /block, puts a stop to being you annoyed…forever!
An auto decline feature would be all well and good (and well used I’m sure); however there are many people that would openly give the decliner kitten for doing so. Open world dueling, in my experience, is full of trash talking arrogant fools and the ignore list has a max limit, which is a heck of a lot lower than the population it would most likely be required to ignore….
I have nothing against dueling, I simply prefer pvp to stay in the mists as it always has been.
While there is nothing wrong with open world dueling in and of itself, it is neither negative nor positive it simply ‘is’. It the attitudes and actions of many of its participants that I do not want to have to deal with. Many of them are kittenholes and greifers. However, all of this is thoroughly discussed and debated already in the suggestions dueling thread.
Man, so hard to come up with something unique after looking through all of these. So many of my pre-arranged outfits have already been nabbed. sniffle Oh well. I don’t have pics right now (at work), but when I get home I’ll pop into the pvp locker and throw my sets together to share… Since it’ll be a while before I have them all, haha.
I never saw Anet say that dueling would come out sometimes after launch. And every thread about it is filled with opposition to it.
There is a mention of it on the wiki, in the upcoming changes and features page, under “mentioned” A single line, with no additional detail. Apparently something that was mentioned in passing during the beta weekends.
Edit: The screenies of his conversation do say they want to add support for ‘world dueling’ and he does say empty [pvp] servers are good for that (dueling). However, since this is pre-launch much what was originally intended could have changed by now.
(edited by LanfearShadowflame.3189)
You can duel in custom arenas now. There is no need to duel in PvE because dueling is a PvP activity.
That is the solution. There are no other solutions planned.
Yeah, she’s talking about open world dueling. They aren’t happy with custom arenas…
Oh Im sure people havent forgotten, although all the threads have been merged into 1 under ‘suggestions’ Its still a very sore topic, and I still vote no.
I was out chatting on “map” when someone said “oh joy! another chest (sarcasm)”
Well, I responded with my honest problem:
“I wish I had a chest! I’m sick of getting so many keys!”
and apparently, it’s usually the other way around to everyone basically going O.o at me
I began playing this game about two weeks ago and here is my count:
-10 keys
-2 chestsAt one point, it was 9 keys and 0 chests.
I would actually get a key and go “man, when am I gonna get a chest?!?!?!”
So it really is strange that I’m currently more excited for chests than keys? :L
Lol I wish I had your issue. I have close to a stack of BL chests in storage, and in my 10 months of playing, I may have gotten about a dozen keys (not including the 5 I bought waaaaaay back at the beginning).
No, you’re not the only one. Been doing some HotW runs, and tried fractals for the stupid Maw Muncher achievement last night. (Which turned out to be an exercise in reminding me [painfully] why I don’t bother playing with people) Several seconds of lag between hitting the key and the game responding, results in a very dead ele. Yet going out into normal world play, I have few to no issues…. annoyed
They said that they don’t plan to ever do an expansion.
Somehow I have a feeling this is a down right lie or massively uninformed information….
What Colin said in the Live Stream on Twitch was that they have not decided on how they want to do expansions – whether they are going to do traditional box style, or some type of release similar to living world. They still had things they needed to work out. Once they make that key decision, we should hear more about expansion possibilities.
Lol I think you in the wrong game homie
So they want all mmo healer players over the last 15 years to quit?
No, but they flat out told us before the game launched that there would be no dedicated healer in the game. Each class would be responsible for the majority of their own healing, although most classes could also do some ‘support healing’ for others in their group. However, that ‘support healing’ was never intended to be powerful enough to carry a group with it, imo. As such, yes, to try and run ‘full heal’ is crippling you, since its not really the intent of the gameplay.
Edit: I had 2 Monks in GW1, and a Priest in WoW. Running a healing class is to my taste as well; however I understood when I came to GW2 that I would not be able to do that. Still, I am able to do enough support healing on my ele to generally keep a teammate (or 3) up long enough for him/her to heal themself, and I find this enjoyable. I am still contributing to the overall damage, and able to help keep people alive by cycling through my attunements. I love it honestly.
(edited by LanfearShadowflame.3189)
chuckle
Watch that first step, its a doozy
I (finally) got my lvl 80 (and my hubby’s 80 ele) into full rares, since I finally bothered to level his tailoring. Right now I’m gathering the pieces for my final transmuted look, after which I may or may not work on exotics. Requires a decent amount of either material or gold farming, and I’m not sure which I want to do. Since I can almost guarantee I won’t have the stuff to craft to 500 right away, I’ll end up in exotics long before I have ascended, but really….no rush. I can complete dungeons and the other various things I fiddle around with, without much of an issue.
You see, every time I hear : " Elementalist is weak…, Elementalist is useless in PvE, look with the warrior we have a very high DPS with Hundred blades!", members from my guild say that I must to reroll because my Elem hasn’t got enough DPS for Speed Run!
IMO if your guild tells you that you have to stop playing a profession you like and to reroll the only thing you should roll is your mouse pointer over the leave guild button.
I have to agree with this. OP should be in a guild that enjoys having him there for who he is, not what he plays. Everything is doable with every class, when it comes to PvE, but efficiency nuts aren’t going to let you ‘be you.’
I play staff ele in PvE, and I don’t have any issues. People that want to talk crap about my class can just go the kitten away. I will play what I want to play, and I have no issues grouping with other like minded individuals. Example…did HotW p2 with 3 rangers, my ele, and a guardian. No issues, took like 45 minutes. You know, 45 min of enjoyable play with fun people beats a 10-15 min speed clear where no one talks any day of the week for me.
Yes and no. I think I’m like you in that I’m very particular in my character’s appearance and name selection. Each character is their own unique ‘person’ and thus the same thing doesn’t necessarily fit their ‘style.’
All but 2 of my current characters are human, mainly because I find it impossible to find armor and/or a look that I like for the other races. I had a cute little asura mes, but since there was no armor that ‘suited’ her, I rerolled her as a human. My Sylvari may soon meet the same fate, since the general facial and hair options just are kind of bleh.
Beyond that, I think I am currently content with my characters. I have armor selections lined up for my ele, necro, mes, ranger, and thief (spent hours at the pvp locker working through combinations) and the look/feel/name seems to suit them appropriately. I may opt for a makeover kit for one of them (all the humans use the same face I’ve noted), but not sure at this point.
I figure at the rate I’m going, I will have a human of every profession, and then eventually will make duplicates of my favorite professions in the other races to experience their storylines.
I don’t think the issue with specifically that we have stealth, just the implementation of it. I’ve not played a thief extensively as yet (have one, but shes only like a 10) so I’m not up to speed on all the tricks and counters.
However, I stood for 10 or so minutes last night watching a thief from my server harrass a guild team (of 5) in WvW without getting below half health the entire time. He successfully downed all 5 members and the vet guard they were hanging out at. Rather impressive, but I have to wonder, if he hadn’t been able to stealth in an out as much as he did, if the outcome would have been very different.
Surprisingly, this doesn’t bother me. However, it does make me really consider if I ‘actually want’ the skin, or if my collection demon is taking over.
Hm…
Well I like the light armor…..sans those kitten leggings. Might use the top in a mix-and-match set. The boots seem very similar to the pvp Armageddon boots (cant think of whakittens called in pve of the top of my head)
Like the medium armor too. That skirt…..muahahahahaha…. Lets see if I can fit that into a nice set.
‘Sexy’ is subjective, keep in mind. One does not necessarily need to show massive amounts of skin to be ‘sexy.’
Although, I do agree that we could use a few more style options. Some of the ranger armor for males in GW1 was quite nice, and wasn’t skimpy.
My Monk was one of my mains in GW1, and while I miss her, I fully understand why Anet didn’t do a straight healer in GW2. Standing around spamming ‘glf healer’ is not a fun way to spend ones time when you would much rather be playing. This type of play is non conducive to what Anet is trying to do with this game.
grumble Thanks for eating my post, dumb forum….
On topic,
I think we have a decent mix of skimpy vs non skimpy. Although I do think we need a few more style options. Some short skirts, some simple pants (no overskirt or coat). Just a little more variety. Hopefully this will come in time, as I’d really like to see something similar to the 1.5 kurzick skirt or the asuran ranger leggings from gw1, style wise.
