Before megaservers, we had a “All temples are contested! Help!” problem.
After megaservers, we have a “All temples are uncontested! Help!” problem.
Good work on non-whack-a-mole balancing, ANet!
[/sarcasm]
I agree that defence events should grow in hardness in a fast way. 1st is beatable, 2nd only with a wise group, 3rd is a certain fail. Restart capture event, rinse, repeat.
But on the other hand, I would be happy to see no defence events as well – with megaservers, people who need the merchants will have more than enough time to make their purchases. Or maybe only 1 defence event always as a compromise.
I have no issues with people defending temples – Im one of them if Im in the zone. I refuse to fail any event on purpose in a video game. Why play if you’re not playing to win.
…except you’re losing if you’re doing the defence event. Just saying.
- Ability to keybind chat channels like /say, /map, /guild. (And maybe an ability to keybind some emotes like /sit to use as an “unstuck” command after freeze in WvW after phase retreat/siege deployment/etc.)
Yes, I know I can type /s[space] and other shortcuts for other map channels, but a) those keys are far away and still take time to type and b) you can have some leftover text space in the chat so it may not work.
Listed as 34. A magical bag shared by all characters (may be a gemstore item not to conflict with bank golem). in this feature list. Would be a nice thing to have, I agree.
He wasn’t talking about you, or other commanders trying to organize an event, he was saying that commander tags being able to bypass spam suppression would soon be abused by gold sellers to bypass the system.
These things are covered by these 2 points in my post:
- Think of a system to temporarily demote people who tag up when they shouldn’t (and thus drive away the lemming part of players from correct objectives); it may be a kind of very transparent or bad-colored tag as a semi-measure.
- Introduce a user-side right-click anti-spam report system which would activate a message suppression algorithm (no, not just suppress everything) to deal with real chat abusing (preferably usable on emotes as well).
So,
- getting a commander tag would need 100g investments (+badges which some people might not have) for “better” spamming, while also drawing attention to these accounts (as most would require transfer of these money),
- getting a commander tag would only help you in /say and /map chat, which are far rarely used for a reason as you know,
- getting a commander tag will not help you if several user reports would automatically trigger chat restrictions – as suggested.
All and all, the benefits of using the commander tag in such a setting would not be efficient enough.
Flag on the play: Appeal to nature (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_nature) and excessive use of evolutionary psychology for false authority.
Bonobos, our closest relatives, have matriarchal societies and freely engage in sexual activity in all combinations for social bonding. Yet monogamy and sexual restriction of women is advocated in many of our cultures.
Most animals have male displays that are beautiful, aesthetic, and probably “sexy” to the observing females, who get to scrutinize and choose (see: blue-footed boobies), but humans unnaturally turned it around.
Sorry, but we’re talking about humans. I don’t remember bonobo women in bonobo tribes keeping fire up and feeding children with cooked food while bonobo men with bonobo spears were doing Boss Blitz hunting mammoths in an organised way. Pre-historic men didn’t have feathers or horns to display either, as far as I remember.
“Natural” as an argument especially falls flat when thrown about by people playing computer games.
When those people playing computer games stop projecting real life onto video games and start preferring charrs and quaggans to humans, then I’ll be totally fine with this statement. Until that time, I’ll have to remind of it those people who can’t help but make comparisons, or simply shake hands with people who say “It’s a video game, everything is possible if it is fun!”
The arguments against inclusion of revealing styles for males boil down to the following flawed arguments, and I’m going to sum them up here because I’m tired of them being brought up in ways that really come across as condescending and shaming:
I’m personally okay with pretty much anything, just sayin’. I’m stating that having men associated with physical power as a primary factor of attractiveness and having women sexualised makes a lot of sense from the natural point of view, while having elegant men and she-warriors is more of a fetish. None of these are “bad” at this point in time, in my opinion, cause, ya’now, YOLO and we have too much people on Earth anyway, but having “natural” things as dominant and “unnatural” things acceptable is, well, natural.
I personally prefer skimpy clothes on my sylvari mesmer because she uses illusions and grows her own armour anyway (and because I enjoy seeing that midriff, I admit it), I prefer my fire-themed ele to be skimpy because she’s a squishy zerker mage and she’s naturally hot in anything non-revealing and she looks good like that, and I’m fine with my guardian to be in heavy armour because she’s, well, a guardian and not a mage. As for female Asura engineer and male Charr warrior, they will get whatever looks appropriate on them as “animals” of their respective professions – probably a cute steampunk something and a steel and threatening something. If I went for a Conan warrior theme, then yes, I would’ve needed something shirtless; if I went for a male elf/avatar-like ranger, I might’ve needed something revealing again, but more elegant – and something like those FF outfits might have worked.
Still, I’m not into such characters, so I don’t need those, but I see that some people would like to have them, and I’m okay with that. But even knowing all that, I will still keep saying that she-warriors and elf-men are not “natural”, and there are perfect biological reasons for it despite having (or not having) these things represented in video games.
I kind of don’t want Commanders to pop up in the middle of my screen spamming some bs.
Spam bots already are spam buying gw2 keys and spamming everyone daily. 100g wouldn’t be an issue for them. I doubt anyone would want to see a gold selling spam in the middle of his screen on almost every map.
Okay. Then could you please refrain from staying in any maps with any commander tags from now on? ‘Cause we paid 100g for the convenience of organising world events for people who don’t have “extra” 100g, and not for the sake of people who don’t even care to read some “bs” like “STOP DPS, wait for other bosses!”. So obviously if you don’t need that service and are instead opposing it, you shouldn’t benefit from it as well.
Thanks!
We’ve been running organised gold Pavillions on a daily basis now, and chat suppression is getting really annoying.
Yes, our commanders are on TS, many party members as well, but it still licks a dolyak to get suppressed on a “STOP ATTACKING” message to random people who simply do not care to join TS or have chat turned off.
We even got a dedicated commander who was assigned to relaying bosses’ HP info in map chat suppressed. And obviously she was typing different messages.
That’s not fun, ANet; if you provide content which requires communication and coordination, you should also provide efficient and stressless ways of those.
Trait system was originally suppose to do this.
This.
We also have some hope for it with future traits, but seeing how useless the Feature Patch traits were, not much of it.
(edit: looks like I hastily misread the quote, but the points are still valid)
Agreed. The issue here is that women seem to object to sexualization far more than men do.
If you want to solve that “issue”, you will have to write to Ms. Evolution (or Mr. God).
For ages, males have fought over males to prove that they’re the strongest and can provide the best food and the best home for their females and their children.
For ages, women fought against women to prove they have the best physical appearance in terms of child-bearing (including “bigger” and “rounder”) for their males.
Ages have passed, living for pleasure and not self-reproduction became socially acceptable, but hormones still drive males to look for the best females (standards have shifted though just as natural human environment did), and instincts still drive females to look more attractive than the girl next door to get a male who can provide a good “nest” (who can now be smart as opposed to mighty).
So why again is sexualisation of women is an “issue”? It is completely natural. Nature said that women have to be “pretty” to be chosen. Nature said that men have to be “reliable” to be able to protect their children. That’s exactly what we see here.
Yes, the society had some soothing effect now on the facade of this. At the moment, the society is telling us that women can date women, men can date men, and women can wear beards to become TV celebrities. That is also natural, simply because it is able to happen; however, it is natural on a local level, while women dating men and men wearing beards are natural on a global level.
Same goes for armour designs and what not: yes, FF designs are okay on a local game level and men in frills are okay on a local theater level, but women showing skin to seduce men is still more natural on a global level then men showing skin to seduce anyone simply because nature designed us that way.
And that “gender inequality” will be present until science finds a way to fully remove all hormone effects and make all genders equal to the extent of men bearing children and no one being able to tell the genders apart in the first place. Which I hope never happens, because, you know, humanity will fall apart when there are no more social roles to play.

It’s been over a month and this still routinely stalls out during the stabilization phase and is unable to be completed.
Yeap, and Taidha is still not fixed.
i mean every mmo’s “end game”(and not speaking for all players) is pvp.
«I mean every MMO’s “end game” is what I like to play.» – FTFY.
I also found myself switching to invisible while visiting places like LA, DR and PvP lobby. Which is frustrating as 1) I can miss an event whisper from the megaguild and 2) I have to switch it back and forth manually every time.
even after you’re supressed you can communicate through emotes
/me thanks you
/me says go this way
…etc.
Good luck with that on a map full of I Don’t Know Where The Chat Panel Is And What The Hell Is Teamspeak Average Joes.
If they fail to see giant red swords over a turret, they surely will see a grey emote line, yeah.
You should also put an option for: “I like both styles and would love to have more choices for both.”
I think “Everything is fine and we have enough options for both.” is pretty much this. As new armour is added anyway, it just tells that the proportion is fine.
Not really, I like both, but … we definitely have more skimpy than non skimpy
No, we don’t:
I like skimpy but I think we should have more non-skimpy now. We got enough of one, let’s bring the other up to par.
We have 15 Skimpy vs 27 Non-skimpy female light armors. We have ~5 skimpy vs 37 Non-skimpy female Medium armors(But a lot more low-cut tops). We have 9 skimpy vs 33 non-skimpy female heavy armors (Unfortunately, all faction armors are skimpy).
We have 5 skimpy vs. 37 non-skimpy male light armors. We have 0(!) skimpy vs 42 non-skimpy male medium armors. We have 5 skimpy vs. 37 non-skimpy male heavy armors.
I considered any armor that exposes any part of the torso (Other than neckline) or legs to be ‘skimpy’ for the purpose of this examination, which means a lot of armors that are ‘skimpy’ still cover a significant amount of the body.
Yes, there’s an imbalance and one side needs to be brought up to par with the other. It’s not the non-skimpy side, though.
The problems can be:
a) most non-skimpy armour looks the same,
b) many players prefer skimpy armour, and because options are limited, they wear the same things and it looks like there’s too much skimpy armour.
Both are perception problems which do not correspond to the actual data.
- Buy gems.
- Convert to Gold.
- Buy Zephyrite boxes.
- Open boxes for tokens.
- Exchange tokens for rewards.
Was looking for Shattered wings as well.
My guess is they and Teq’s wings are coming back in a couple of weeks as a newer reward at Festival vendors or with the next Dragon Bash, which I assumed could’ve returned in June, but people say that “Tyria doesn’t have money for another festival”.
Hello all,
Just a quick note to let you know that we still have a dedicated team working on improving the megaserver issues.
Issues are bad as they are, no need to improve the issues! Please solve them instead
Can someone explain to me why the megaserver system was applied to cities? Related question: why was it not possible to implement a district system for cities?
Because new players complained “My [non-human race] city is empty! Is the game dead? Did I make a mistake when I bought it?” and panicked. Yes, it’s only natural to have starter cities empty at this stage, but new players (especially first-timers) were getting a wrong impression.
(BTW, making an always 0-copper teleport to home city of your race would’ve nearly solved the problem IMO.)
These are not actually specific to mesmers – AFAIK all shadowstep skills follow the same pattern with the problem buried deep inside the game engine.
However I agree that unlike other classes (maybe except for thieves, but not sure), mesmers suffer from teleport (and pathing, like iLeap) bugs a lot more as those “deceptive” skills are part of our mechanics.
- If you build stacks underwater and then you get out of it you must lose them.
- If you build stacks on the ground and then enter water you must lose them.
Wow. Care to elaborate?
How about swimming to Bay in WvW or crossing a small river with your group?
Also I’d like to point out that you currently you can cross water surfaces and not lose your stacks, if you don’t dive and stay at the water surface – while you do so all your skills are disabled, however.
You can’t avoid diving when jumping from high places though. And of course you also can’t use your underwater boost skills (like mesmer Spear 4 – useful for the whole team – and 2), as well as skills to deal with underwater enemies.
I also have this perception problem, so I added it as Feature 26: Option to display player names and armour always in their respective team color instead of “blue=ally/red=enemy” in PvP and WvW. I’m totally confused every time a red enemy comes from a blue base and captures a blue point – this is a consequence of transferring from a different PvP game which always persisted team colors, and I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem. To make it worse, /team channel is of an enemy-red colour instead of current team color. – in this list.

Thanks! Search let me down. It was also a suggestion more than a class specific balance problem, as I think any weapon changes on any class should be allowed, despite it being most frustrating on my ele and engie.
It was in this subforum (general discussion) IIRC but then got moved there.
I can see why they made the change. They don’t want players to be able to have the effects of a bloodlust/corruption etc sigil if they aren’t using a weapon which has that sigil.
It was effectively giving players an extra sigil on their weapons because players would just build 25 stacks then switch for a different weapon.
Correct solution: remove stacks if a player unequips a weapon, not just changes weapon sets or enters water.
A similar but larger thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/balance/bloodlust-stacking-change-is-not-right
A whole thread about it here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/balance/bloodlust-stacking-change-is-not-right
Anyway, there are currently more non-skimpy options (as you put it) than skimpy options, but I feel the QUALITY and UNIQUENESS of these pieces often misses the mark. There are lots of “wow” options on the skimpy side, but not nearly as many covering options.
I’d love to see some more variety in design.
Yes, I also get the same idea. People feel that there are “too many” skimpy outfits because most of them are catchy, while non-skimpy outfits are too alike and people feel like there’s “too little” of those. Not really surprising, to say the truth, as showing different parts and amounts of skin is a great way to vary shapes and edge materials/decorations, while non-skimpy outfits, especially when dyed in a single colour, generally look the same – a robe with a print on it.
Or run the game windowed and have the clock in game server time and your taskbar below local time.
You’re not taking the easy ways, are you?
I like the idea. More extensive but on-demand information can never be bad.
Thank you both, unfortunately wiki doesn’t tell me where the best place to farm these mobs is, any ideas?
Because it depends a lot on your
- fighting skills
- jumping skills
- level/gear/build
- amount of friends/guildies to party with and zerg down pirates
Try everything and see what goes better. Maybe you can grind dungeons and promote sprockets, who knows. You can also get a sprocket generator for tokens currently.

Dropped by Aetherblades
Contained in Bag of Alliance Supplies
Rare gather from Sprocket Generator
Magnificent Chest at the end of the Not So Secret Jumping Puzzle
Promoted from sprockets
Wiki is your friend.

I think “Everything is fine and we have enough options for both.” is pretty much this. As new armour is added anyway, it just tells that the proportion is fine.
Well, you have obviously played backwards on some of your characters.
Here’s a good armour gallery in case anyone’s interested, by the way:

Thanks for sharing! I’ve heard that servers were named after different locations, but looking them up one by one didn’t sound like fun. Great to have everything in one place and with pictures!
Welcome to GW2 Combat Mode.
There’s absolutely nothing they can do to distinguish autohotkey pressed buttons vs manually pressed ones without breaking the law.
That’s neither hard nor illegal to detect a constant 300 millisecond delay between identical key presses in a game which transmits user key presses to the server as part of the game mechanic itself.
GW2 female armour: skimpy or not?
- I prefer skimpy armour and want more choices of it.
- I prefer skimpy armour, but options are enough and we could go for non-skimpy ones now.
- Everything is fine and we have enough options for both.
- I prefer non-skimpy armour, but options are enough and we could go for skimpy ones now.
- I prefer non-skimpy armour and want more choices of it.
Basically interested in stats, at least the ones from the forum sample.
Please try to keep it civil, as I would be happy to see some solid numbers on the poll before this thread derails and gets personal, which unfortunately happens in threads on the subject.
Thank you.
EDIT: Here’s a good armour gallery in case anyone’s interested, by the way.

There is only 1 big economy problem in this game and that is the gem store !
As long as they have their gem store , they will nerf every farming spot, you’ll keep getting meaningless loot, and every new update will be behind the gem store.
Might aswell login open the gem store and just play that game instead because that’s what they want. “We made a game for the players!”, Lol ! During that manifesto they should have phrased it "We made a store for the stupid :`) ! ".
FYI: if they remove gemstore, they’ll have to shut down this game after the Festival and fire all the staff.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
Thanks a lot for your reply. So can you clarify just to be sure : can I bind left click to my wheel (aka wheel down once = one click, not multiple clicks or anything) with AHK and not get banned by an automatic bot detector or something ? Even if that would happen, would I get to clarify the situation with the support or would they deny my request ?
Based on what I remember from disassembling a mouse, you’re technically pressing the “button” multiple by rotating the wheel, even if “pressing a button” involves rotating an obstacle near a photo sensor.
That said, I remember a thread on the subject where a dev said they can’t elaborate on particular actions, and it felt like they have to be deliberately vague just in case.
1 to X key bindings are always a question. When AN gives you no option to consume a lot of bags/else, should we really forced to click like a maniac? Guess the “consume all” feature is planned, but really, anything that doesn’t give countable advantage in fights/money, shouldn’t be a reason to ban.
You can look at it that way: GW2 MMOs are about prestige; playing music perfectly is part of prestige, just like beating Liadri or speedclearing Lupi is. So yes, that’s not monetary, yet still an advantage.
(edited by Lishtenbird.2814)
Sorry, I gave up trying to explain the rest to someone who clearly doesnt care.
Thank you for writing it all out. I felt it was futile anyway based on the original post so couldn’t make myself write it.
I also thought about using AHK scripts for playing instruments.
But then I decided those would give me a non-monetary, yet still “unfair advantage” over people who can actually play as good as my script would, so decided not to. It’s more of a moral thing here, I think.
All the complaints, but the word “silk” wasn’t mentioned once. gg
I assume OP hasn’t made it to ascended crafting yet.
(Or, well, warriors need no silk.)

Have you ever thought about people wanna have some fun when playing video games ???
GW2 is not to exchange realitys……. it is to flee from the reality outside.Maybe this is where A-Net and NC Soft are doing wrong
Have you ever thought that people are already having fun when playing this video game ???
Sorry, it’s your own problem that you do not like how other people are having their fun, be it a Chainmail Bikini Babe Wars Dress-up 2, or Champ Train Tycoon Wars 2, or Market Simulator Wars 2.
Don’t like seeing other people enjoying other things – go play a single-player game.
Now do it as simple mortals do – with a multi-language PUG of “play-how-I-want!” builds, and then come back.
I still don’t have all paths done simply because I want to “explore” them first instead of reading guides, but PUGs are awful and ragequit half-way so I just gave up trying.
1. “I want more for less!”
- Most champ trains have been nerfed and are officially “by far not the most profitable content”.
- Open world events and hearts give just as much reward as the amount of effort they require.
- Yes, there are problems with reward scaling in Fractals and RNG in Tequatl and Wurm, but mostly that’s it.
2. “I want others to play the way I want!”
- Playing the TP has “playing” in it for a reason.
- Playing on TP requires a lot of skill in researching markets and managing resources.
- People who bought 7 accounts have financed the game 7x times more than you and are at the moment giving you more new content in a B2P game.
- Flipping stabilizes markets.
- Flipping sinks gold a lot (15% each transaction) and stabilizes economy.
3. “I can’t do it, so don’t let them!”
- If a person can solo a content for 5 people in a legit way, he deserves that gold.
- If a person is exploiting content, he will be banned.
- If a person is kicking people from parties, he will be reported for LFG abuse and banned.
TL;DR: Rants coming from people who are not willing to view the whole picture. We’ve seen that on the forum many times, and none of those are an “economy problems”.
(edited by Lishtenbird.2814)
Suggested multiple times before and listed as 164. Option to block whispers and mail from anyone except your friends, guild members and current party (addresses gold selling spam and harassing). in this list: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/150-Features-We-Wanted-in-Feature-Patch
I like the idea as well but I think the reasons it is not implemented are:
- It means “accepting defeat” from PR point of view.
- It leads to hampering natural player interaction.
Though I would prefer to have that option even without the gold selling spam problem, just not to have random people whisper me to say silly things.
The grenades stick to me quite often when I go ranged. Well, for me it is fun though, as most of the times i dodge out or evade and can drag that attack away from other people.
I wouldn’t mind a pair of pants but all we get are skirts and trench coats. Then again it’s not like that isn’t a fantasy trope.
And Asuna is a Warrior judging by her skills, not a light/medium armour class
for its deep costumisation system
That mistype matches GW2 hilariously well.
