As someone who doesn’t really play mes these days, what I want to know is this:

Does well of precog still prevent capture point progress? If so this is a kittened change. Otherwise, I think this was needed, or something like it. I really hope they look into your sustained damage though, all these nerfs, but they didn’t help mesmer where it is weak.

Magumma Jungle

Loboling.5293

Hey fellow adrenaline junkies,

I’ve always found warrior boring… I recently started getting more into pvp on my warrior though and realized just how fun it can be. After, I felt like it was worth leveling a warrior up, I tomed him to 80 and got to magumma, but I still find his dps boring. In pvp there are so many things to think about, but in pve, its just about killing. It seems all I do is walk around with my greatsword and cut things up, over and over….

So I came here looking for some advice on fun warrior builds to roam the jungle with. (I’m only a little into berserker training, but I could max it in a day if I hear it’ll help) Right now I run gs + sw/wh. I get perma swiftness, 100% crit chance, 226% crit damage, a ton of power and might. The build is very solid, but boring. I don’t mind giving up something for fun. I want to like the warrior in open world. (my favorite open world class is engie currently)

Any advice is appreciated and I hope there are some things I’m overlooking, and maybe I’m maxing damage too much. (on most classes that would sound silly, but max damage build warrior puts me to sleep)

Did necro get to much boon corrupt

I really think it is too much. Funny it motivated me to focus on classes that use few boons. That is until they change it (nerf) some of the boon corrupt to boon wipe. Players shouldn’t get feared when they pop armor of earth because a necro auto-attacked them. These are big cooldowns being completely invalidated by these changes. Boon corrupt is very powerful and needs to be kept as something to build towards, not just aftermath of playing necro.

This seems like another thread. I’ll give this a +1, as I really want to see this happen. The game is so boring in pvp when half the ppl you face go down in 1-2 seconds of pressure. We always need a competitive format for pvp. Don’t force those who are trying to figure out builds to play with those that want to win a match. (I know everyone wants to win, but some ppl play some silly stuff in unranked) Last game I played, we had 3 points and their team would go down so fast, I think they forgot to equip amulets or something. Please give us a good environment for pvp again. No need for seasons for now.

Warrior is still trash,

Loboling.5293

Well I can’t really affirm that warrior is good, as all there is now is unranked, which to me is not even close to competitive right now. (Too much variety in skill level players making matches very strange)

However, I came up with a warrior build that combines my old build (soldier lockzerker) with the power of a gunflame. I’m still keeping this gem with myself for now, but if I find it performs well in ranked when it gets here, I may share. XD

Good luck finding good builds.

First off,

How has no one asked him what class he plays?

If you tell me what you are playing, I’ll make a good solid easy to get into build for you. The first challenge of pvp is build making. You have to make a build that flows well together and accomplishes some of the goals of pvp. At the same time, you’ll want the build to make sense to you, so you can actually play it.

Right now, class balance is mixed up, and there is a lot of speculation going around. Pvp can be fun, but as others have said, I would avoid unranked right now and focus on hotjoin maps. The games will suck when you first join (9/10 number of players), but once the map changes, if enough players have joined you can get some decent 5v5 for practice. Hot join is the place to learn pvp. There are a lot of bad players. Just make sure you properly read the server description. You probably want to focus on the ones without names and just numbers.

If by chance, you have to patience to get owned a lot (as many of us had to go through), you need to remember you won’t learn anything if the fights are over in 2 seconds. So when I suggest a build, I plan on making it very tanky. Now they just recently removed all the tanky amulets, but some are still tanky enough with class mechanics that you will survive that initial burst.

TLRD:
1) What is your class?
2) I will make you a build.
3) Balance is not fully known yet by anyone. (meta hasn’t settled)
4) Play Hot join (number servers that are almost full)
5) Play defensive builds and just focus on staying alive and avoiding damage. This is how you will learn to defend yourself without all the defensives.

Warrior is now META, Thank you ANET

Literally me reading the balance changes:

vigor change: “Well that will spice things up some I guess”
Ele change: “I see they are nerfing their sustain and trying to change how they play, we’ll see”
Engie: “sigh”
Guard: “Wow this looks cool”
Mes: “I feel bad, but I guess well see if they can salvage something”
necro: “WTF! WTF! WTF! is this real? checks again OMG! well then… I guess no one can stand up to a necro anymore unless you don’t rely on boons. We’ll they were already ridiculous to deal with, so its not too different. I guess the only class that can face them head on are warriors, but only for as long as berserker stance lasts…”

gets to warriors…. Oh berseker stance is gone…. soooooo…. well then…

Pvp soon:
2 Necro (powerhouse)
1 Mes (help necro get around map)
1 Thief (+1)
1 DH (Hold home until mes brings necros)

I miss ranked already...

Loboling.5293

So much this. Unranked during off-season is not a replacement for ranked. I don’t care if there is no ladder or league, just give us a matchmaking where we can only do competitive maps with other like minded players that want to compete. Unranked is for trying builds and having fun. Hot-join is just lol most of the time, for dailies and dueling.

Don’t force those of us who only play ranked, and try and have fun competitive matches play with a few players who don’t want the same thing.

Last game, 1 voted skyhammer, and we played skyhammer. Yay! NOT!

Either give us the option to choose maps we do/don’t want to play for unranked, or bring ranked back (better) during off-seasons. No need for extra work. We will be happier.

-Do you ever activate signet of stamina or just always keep it for the passive?

I try to keep the passive for as long as possible, as avoiding conditions is better than cleansing them. However, when you have conditions, you have to make a choice on weather you use healing signet or signet of stamina. You learn which to use based on situations. I usually end up running when I pop healing signet, cause you lose all your real healing. Anyway, playing the build is the only way to see when these situations arise and how to face them.

- why sigil of energy on both weapon sets? the cd is shared and you have fast hands…doesn’t it make sense to get a different sigil for damage?

Honestly, even with fast hands, I don’t swap weapons every 5 seconds. I generally try and stay in hammer a lot, and switch to sword for the additional stun, block, burst or mobility. So it is nice to get some extra endurance when you swap. There is a good reason they are nerfing this sigil.

-Rune of the daredevil for warrior looks interesting. Would this be viable for say WvsW (small group fights)?

Rune of the daredevil is awesome for the build as people will often try and pressure the gunflame zerker. When you aren’t ready to get a kill (with the headbutt→gunflame→volley→final thrust) You’ll be able to dodge their focus fire, and retaliate with good damage. You should try your best to avoid stances until really needed, and the rune gives you that extra damage while you wait to go full ham. (with the above combo)

-does signet of stamina stack with vigor? so 50+50 = 100% when vigor is active?

No vigor doesn’t stack. But the build with signet doesn’t have much vigor access.

What if u did signet of stamina + daredevil runes +sigil of energy? Then didn’t buy any precision at all. Keeping a crit rate as low as possible and relying on dodge rolls and maybe intelligence sigil for a ton of damage?

I think it could work. You’d have to try it out. If you want to go that route, I suggest making sure you have some ferocity. I’m not sure on the other details of the build you are referring. Is it modifying the lockzerker or zerker gunflame?

Anyway, good luck, and I hope this helps.

Sorry, but I’m with Rayden, if you feel at a disadvantage, change profession. I did really well this season on my warrior. Sure it wasn’t easy to come up with a good build that could counter a lot of what is popular, but its doable. I only made it to diamond playing soloq, but I didn’t play much as I can’t play gw2 more than a few hours a day. There are warriors and thieves that made it to legend. I think for thieves, the trick this season was either being an amazing thief, or playing some venomshare build. For warrior, we had gunflame and some strong sustain control builds. (Which is most of what I played)

The next season will start and we will get to see how things work out. No need to extend the season.

I think I’ve seen the most necros rage, followed by guardians, thieves and rangers (who often say nothing, but stop leaving spawn).

Playing a thief is tough when your team and you can’t sink up well. A well played thief with teamates that know how to play with one can be very dangerous, but comp plays a big role. I think in the current pvp, there are some comps that if played well, they make bringing a thief useless. (However, I’ve heard there are some applicable builds for those who switch it up using venoms during those matchups)

I finally made it to Diamond on my warrior soloq. I used two builds for my warrior, and occasionally played a necro towards the end of the division. (95% war, 5% necro)

This post is about saying goodbye to a new favorite warrior build I made when trying to get through ruby on him.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQNAS8enMdAlki9kCGeAElilrA7d0maftIBgEQqTJH06WAA-TZBCQBA4BAMw9HETZAKcQAuwVAAA

The build was all around useful, and I used it most games. Although I’d switch to a variant of zerker gun flame build when it looked like it would favor our team.

I am sad to see the soldier amulet go, as it was a fun amulet that I’ve enjoyed on a few builds. I’m looking forward to seeing what warrior builds are viable with the coming update, but going to miss my soldier lockzerker build. I think if any one profession has used the soldier amulet a lot over the years it would be warriors.

I’m done with pvp until the update, but I hope someone tries my build for fun. Just focus on holding points, decaping, protecting your squishies, quickness rez/stomp, and locking down enemies for kills.

Good luck out there fellow warriors, and I hope this new patch brings us some viable builds that aren’t stance/burst.

If the bag holding the doorknobs is transparent and depending on the size and shape of the doorknobs, you could end up with a bag of doorknobs that can be easily seen through. However, the bag in question is quite opaque.

I’d be surprised that it would be meta since warriors are easily crit capped. Funny enough, I really like litany of wrath, I use it on my medi guard. The skill if used with a damage ability far outheals all the other heals, and it on a short cooldown (24s with trait). I think changing blood reckoning to heal off any damage dealt would be a major improvement. I’m fine with it being used for buffing crit change on builds that lack crit chance.

Sorry, but the build looks really bad. I couldn’t stand more then 2 minutes of the video. As the poster above had said, get it in better quality. Also, I don’t really get your build. Could you please explain a bit your selection of skills. I feel like you aren’t putting out as much damage, supporting as much or even controlling as much as you would with some changes to your build. You are running with 0 kits, but don’t have an interesting gimmick.

I’ve run all elixir no kit builds that worked pretty good, but they were able to stack 25 might on my allies, quick rez, safe stomp, wipe teams if I’m lucky with elixir x, and remove a ton of condis. And actually, now that I think about it, I had elixir gun… so one kit… xD

Anyway, let me know how this build is supposed to work and what you are trying to accomplish. Otherwise, thanks for posting and sorry that I couldn’t get into it.

Upcoming Changes to PvP Runes/Sigils/Amulets

I think that sigil of energy should be left viable, and not removed completely. (Which it will be with this change) The fun in making builds is trying to maximize your role, it happens that dodging is super useful and anyone trying to maximize survivability (with dodges) will take energy. Please just reduce its return from 50 energy to 30 energy. Enough of a nerf, but still useful for some builds.

Also, please reconsider removing soldier amulet! This thing is really awesome with some builds. My warrior build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQNAS8enMdAlki9kCGeAElilrADJAkASdvj2U7rVJH06WAA-TZBCQBDc/BA8AAuwFBgCHBAxUGAA

This build uses soldiers, and while it doesn’t do amazing damage, I catch a lot of people off guard with a 4.4-6.6k final thrust. The control is amazing, but I can only do it cause I don’t die right away usingm y soldier amulet. I can sustain on a point with both my healing and cc. I have great mobility to rotations, and while I can’t handle all 1v1, I can hold a point against a bunker forever, and stall for a long enough time against even 2 opponents. I have even many times decapped a point with this build by knnocking enemies off the point with 4 in hammer, followed into a stun to see how they respond and finally a wild blow to decap.

Honestly, if you want warriors to lose any sustain builds, go ahead. But you’ll only leave us with damage, which is not terrible, but I just don’t see how soldier is OP and should be removed. I’ve made a great build, but it is definitely not too strong. (Although my win-rate with it has been pretty high so far, and has carried me through ruby)

I know with the upcoming changes to warriors, they should improve sustain, but that won’t really matter when they are forced to wear silly amulets like paladins or some damage focused amulets.

Soldiers is not as annoying to deal with as cele or sentinel. Those two should be removed. (don’t really care much about last one) Soldiers just lets you stay in the fight long enough to do something meaningful, not tank a point 3v1 or even 2v1. Don’t get rid of our ability to stay in fights.

These are good changes, except for removing Soldier. Soldier is a decent amulet that’s not game-breaking like celestial was.

There’s a PVT amulet to replace it, Paladin.

1050 Power, 1050 Precision, 560 Toughness, 560 Vitality.

are you kidding? there is a huge difference between paladins and soldiers amulet..
just besides soldier gives 440 more vit and thoughness so it is far more defensiv. Paladin is an rather offensive amulet and provides way highter dps than soldiers..

im fact he was right removing soldier will remove build diversity. it never made any problems or was used for op builds. And soldier wasnt a meta option in the last 3 years..

Yes,

I would like to request that soldier be left in the game. The build I run on my warrior right now runs with it, and its really fun, and obviously not OP. Soldier’s is for those that want to trade sustain for some decent damage, while maintaining tankyness. You have to secure your crit source outside of your amulet, and possibly find ways of boosting your ferocity (again without your amulet). It has serious trade-offs, and shouldn’t be lumped together with the others amulets being removed. (cele, etc)

Just because it has high levels of toughness and vitality doesn’t mean it should be removed, its highest stat is actually power (which needs precision and ferocity to deal good damage). So the amulet is balanced.

Fiery greatsword:
skill 1 damage up 20%
skill 4 travel distance improved
skill 5 range increased from 600 to 900.

tornado: (sorry since almost never use it, I can’t remember which skill is which)
reflects projectiles
Increase the damage by 30%
increase blind frequency
Give it an auto attack
Make skill 2+3 a cooldown and activated ability, so you can knockback on command
Heck you can even give it a 4+5 to put down a swirling winds and reflect for both skills instead of making it reflect by default.

I think that the cooldown on ride the lightning could be lowered to 30 seconds. Off-hand dagger is not used much. However, I do not think they are the same skills, even if they both move you. One is a damage ability (obviously low) and the other a small heal. One is targeted, but can only go to places you can walk straight to, the other is a true leap. So I agree they are very similar, but I wouldn’t go below 30 seconds right now with this skill. I think before too much buffing is done (outside elites, what are they waiting for… /wrists) they need to bring some elite specs down a bit. But I definitely think a few small buffs to offhand dagger, warhorn and scepter would not upset balance in any way. So I am all for improving this skill via cooldown reduction, fixing some bad warhorn skills and improving scepters sustain damage some.

I also hate this trait, and its its nonsense. I honestly don’t like the passive cc or dodge to get stab. When you combine this trait with stability, the rev doesn’t get any control effect on himself, but you get taunted. It is by far the most annoying thing to deal with when playing my glass staff ele. I put down a static field, and get pulled into the point without anyone even trying. At the very least, it should only taunt you if you actually cc the rev. Otherwise, I think decreasing its duration to 2 seconds or changing it to clear the cc on the rev and grant him stab instead of taunting the enemy player.

Honestly, I hate this change, and I’ve also stopped spending money on this game since. It was hard at first, cause I wanted to get grenth’s hood, but I’m over it. I still have some fun in this game, but I just don’t feel valued as a customer anymore, which means I don’t value the work put into this game as much. I still don’t have a new computer, but once I do, I wonder if I’ll even play gw2 anymore. I imagine my account is probably worth something (9 character slots, 7 80s, only missing a handle of outfits, tons of skins unlocked, almost evey dye unlocked, etc.). Why having thief in team = loss

in PvP

Posted by: Loboling.5293

Loboling.5293

I play a berserker amulet staff ele in pvp. When I tell people on my team, I often get the same “gg”. However, it doesn’t demoralize me, and I still go on to win a lot. I think the reason a lot of teams with thief lose is not because players give up (which happens sometimes), but rather that the role of a thief is hard to pull off. The thief is responsible to decap any point instantly when the enemies leave it. This means that the enemy team has to leave a player on each point, which puts them at a disavantage in numbers on the rest of the map. Because a thief can move faster than others, he can be mid 5v4, and as soon as the other player shows up, he can decap and the team can pull out back to home. The strategy of a game with a thief depends a lot on their performance.

I recently won a game with 2 thieves, but with my damage and theirs we would play the zerg game and won that way. The other 2 players camped on points.

There is more than one way to win, but it requires changing the teams strategy depending on your team and your opponents.

What ratio between game and gem is to far 4U?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Loboling.5293

I think most players expected a lot of stuff to come with the expansion, since we were already getting skins for free with the living world updates. The fact that there are no obtainable glider skins in the game is a huge disappointment. It is not about the ratio of things released. I expect most things following the expansion to be gem related, like its been in the past, but for the money spent, the expansion just did not have enough skins. Visuals are imo one of the biggest parts of this game, and while I decided to spend a bunch of money to get varying glider skins at release, when I realized that was all I was getting, I got very upset and decided to stop spending money on this game. I think it was safe to expect about a dozen new full armor sets, and the same amount of weapons (per type). I think the lack of skins and recent visual nerfs are really hurting a part of the game that was very important to me. (GIVE ME BACK MY FIREBALL!!!) Anyway, I hope this helped.

The true state of pvp

in PvP

Posted by: Loboling.5293

Loboling.5293

Hey everyone,

I thought it would be good for me to make a post and give my opinions on pvp right now. I won’t spend too much time going over the same things as everyone else, but rather talk about it from a broader perspective, as I feel I encounter a lot of negative behavior and attitudes in matches from players that have given in the belief that the only way to play pvp is to follow the meta.

Firstly, THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT FOR ANY TEAMS SUCCESS IS NOT META BUILDS, BUT PROPER ROTATIONS AND POSITIONING. This is important but a lot of people don’t even realize, if you lost against another team, it was probably because they coordinated and rotated better. Each member of the team needs to work together and find themselves in the correct position for proper engagements. When your team gets into a position where players are charging “into the meat grinder” one at a time, that is the reason for a loss, not that the opponents are running builds that are 10-20% more effective.

Second, even though pvp is competitive, it is still an environment for fun and amusement. We are all here to have fun, and those who enjoy playing pvp, likely enjoy winning. Calling names and insulting your own teammates only ensures a loss. There is no hope for proper teamwork when your team spends most of the time in chat insulting eachother. I know I have gotten on peoples nerves, and others have gotten on mine. It is important to decide when you want to insult someone, are you will to give up any chance of winning? When I am upset, I’ll say things like :“please dont fight on roads” or even worse: “lol what are you doing dying 2v1 on a road…” . Some of these comments are not super nice to hear, but they don’t bring to focus away from the game. Do not call people names. Just tell them what you think they are doing wrong. Give advice, but don’t spend the whole game typing, you are creating a 4v5 situation that can quickly escalate into a 3v5 if the person decides to respond.

Lastly, there is more than one way to skin a cat. The goal of each pvp match to to earn 500 points. You earn points quickly by holding nodes, and killing players is useful as well for that ends. Some players believe that the professional players of gw2 have found the holy grail to pvp. This is simply not true. There are so many ways to approach strategy in this game. I’ve beat meta teams with a variety of builds and team compositions. Given the nature of conquest, it is important to hold points no doubt, but how you go about doing that is up to the team. Sure its easiest to play with like minded players that go forward with the same strategy as them, but getting upset because someone is not playing the way you want is simply called being a baby. Loses happen, and they didn’t happen because of that player that tried to kill svanir at the start, they happened because the team was not working as one. A successful game often happens when all parties function as one unit, sometimes that means playing treb, sometimes that means ignoring treb, sometimes it means focusing far, sometime it means ignoring far. There is no greater strength in this world than adaptability. If your team can cope better with the circumstances and maintain proper rotations and positioning when compared to the enemy team you will win.

I know this was long, but hopefully it can help bring something our community has been lacking somewhat lately. I think there is room in this game for everyone to have fun. I even have lots of fun playing pvp nowadays without meta builds. Just remember this is a team game, and no team wins only because of one individual. Loses are part of life, learn and grow.

Good luck and have fun.

I find warrior bunker support build is pretty good. It is actually one of my favorite teamates when playing my glass staff ele build. Either way, I’ll be sure to report anyone who is only going to participate in pvp if they get a specific team makeup. I won’t deny that warriors and thieves (to a lesser extent) could use some help in pvp. Thieves are still good at what they have always been good at, and their elite spec just helped them do more of the same. That was a mistake in my opinion (even though I find dd fun). Warriors got a elite spec that is simply bad in pvp, so the best warriors I’ve played with just don’t run with it in pvp. Warrior is not terrible right now, but they have gotten no power up with HoT. I play most games on my ele without my elite spec, but when our team is heavy necro and other classes/builds that require some extra support, I’ll swap to shout tempest. Shout tempest pulls ahead for most games, but I can’t give up the multikills I get when playing damage staff. Only issue I have with the build (besides thieves, which are mostly absent from meta) are when my teammates can somehow die before I get a kill (which usually doesn’t take more than a 10 seconds at mid). Even still, I’ve won many mid fights where the enemies rally over and over, but eventually along with the help of one solid bunker on our team we win out. Glass staff is useless when you don’t have someone to “draw aggro” on the point, which I find warriors are really good for making players want to focus them. They don’t last as long as some of the other bunkers, but they bring a lot of cc, good rezes and decent condi removal. Thieves just can’t handle the amount of damage that bruiser builds can dish out right now, and bruiser is the other name for this meta (besides bunk). They are still the best decapers, and against some teams that is highly effective. (again not so much in the current meta where there are almost no straight damage builds; although I play one)

Okay so when they Nerf DS, eles will just switch to Stone Heart.

Then people will be complaining about perma prot Stone Heart tempests next.

It’s a vicious cycle.

I already think stone heart is a better trait. But I run with water, aura grants regen and soldier runes. Each shout removes 2 condis, except my heal which removes 1. All my aura skills remove 1 condi, and I am also procing passive auras that remove condis. I do not feel like its possible to kill a well built shout tempest with condis. So there is no point in traiting diamond skin, except being a stronger 1v1 fighting. I prefer to trade a small amount of 1v1 potential for some 1vX potential or XvX potential. Stone heart is an awesome trait, diamond skin is very powerful, but also completely useless in most team fights.

Finisher Bugged so bad

Loboling.5293

I think this bug can be confusing for the community, here are my thoguhts:

1) Rev now can slow players, which makes some stomps feel really slow, causing some players to accidentally cancel their stomp.
2) The stomp bug is not due to 1. Sometimes stomps will just not complete, and I have a theory as to why. (this bug was around before hot for those unaware)
3) The issue comes from latency bug, that makes a player appear in a location they are not, it is not by much, but when a player is not really in the location where everyone sees them, they cannot be stomped or rezzed.

Just think if you’ve ever been right next to an ally trying to rez, but its not working at all. That is the same bug causing the stomp bug. My guess is that it is latency and communication issue, but I could be wrong. Hopefully one day A-Net will look into it, as I’ve seen it more frequently since HOT. (which could maybe be due to newer players joining with an average internet speed that is lower than those who had been sticking with pvp these past years allowing us to encounter the issue more often)

I know I’ve never died where my teamates told me they couldn’t rez me for some unknown reason, and I have good internet. But I’ve seen players I couldn’t rez many times, usually as they are walking up/down stairs.

DH in PvP (FIX THAT kitten)

DH IS TOO STRONK. Sorry nvm, I take it back. It’s funny cause I play with some of the people who think DH is really strong, I feel for them. But frankly, there is nothing they could change without making them completely unviable. Right now, when you trigger a trap, you have about 1 second to dodge, and it has to be in the correct direction. In fact, often one dodge will waste 2-3 traps at a time. Since the season has begun, I have died a few times to DH, and I think once was due to the elite trap catching me. However, I can’t place DH high up on the list of problems with this meta. They are very easy to play is the problem I think. The only change I could advise (which would actually make them stronger and more viable at higher levels, but players who are bad DH would be worse) is to make the traps have to be activated to trigger. This would make them more active, and prevent bads from killing players off screen. However, good players could really screw over the current counters to DH with this change. It would be very difficult no know when you are standing on traps and they could trigger them only during opportune times, which would catch even good players. I’d personally be scarred of this change, because I often play a very glassy build and the only way to survive DH is how easy their traps are to avoid. (medi guards are way more tough to fight)

Loboling.5293

Hey fellow pvpers,

I am looking for a team for some fun in pvp. I play an elementalist, but I enjoy thief as well. I already have a few people that I pvp with occasionally, but no solid team.

some things you should know:
1) I like to change builds often.
Now, I won’t change from a winning strategy, but when queuing solo, and even with friends, I often end up changing builds every 5-6 games. I try and look for original builds and try everything. Sometimes this means I have some strange builds.
2) I never give up during a match.
I am the type to push up util the end as hard as I can. I don’t care if I’m losing a 4v5, I’l push on.
3) I pvp for fun but also to win.
I enjoy trying my best, and think that a good attitude is one of the most important aspects in a team. I don’t mind losing, but I prefer winning….obv. I only want to join a group that can take a loss once in a while, and will look at ways to improve and defeat previously impassible obstacles.
4) I often avoid voice comm.
If I get to know you well enough, I don’t mind getting on vent/mumble, but it is rare that I feel like talking during a game. I find I’ve never developed the proper skills to use the “talk” button. And it gets me killed more than anything. I just have fun, and ping the map and type to organize strategies. I am open to listening if you are very keen on it.
5) My real life takes priority over gaming.
I like to play, but sometimes a long day means I don’t feel up to team queue. I just want to goof around in the game. So if it bothers you that I may be online, but not want to do a match, or that I may only play 1-2 games at a time, well don’t invite me. I can rarely handle playing more than 4 games without feeling like taking a break.
6) I make mistakes, but overall I am a good player whos been around since shortly after launch.
I sometimes have moments where I make critical mistakes in the game. I don’t take this game super seriously, and can lose focus if my bunny is licking my feet. etc. I am generally considered by players that match with me to be one of the better players they see. I think the reason for this is my decision making skills, although I am decent mechanically. I have a lot of experience playing on a team in soccer, and I know when to rush over and when to let my teammate handle something.
7) I am mostly available to play during the week-end (morning) and after work during the week.
I get really tired and often lack focus to play a match during the week past 9pm. (EST) I generally hop into the game around 6/6:30 and play until 7:30ish. However, I am not against playing past 7:30, and its iffy past 9.

So I know this was long, but I’ve done a bit of ranked since the season started (2 wins 1 loss) all solo. And I’ve been hoping to find some consistent players that have a similar schedule to pay some matches. I’ve realized how difficult this season is, and while I’ve had good luck so far, I’m not looking forward to a 7 loss series that many have been reporting.

I hope this thread lasts long enough to get a response. Feel free to message me in game or on the forums. And I look forward to playing with some like-minded people. Lastly, I’m a scientist and proud of it if that helps you better understand me.

99% of my playtime in Gw2 is queues.

Loboling.5293

Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but its probably a bug. I could be wrong, but even before seasons I ended up in a 1 hour queue, asked in hotm. I was told to requeue, I did and it popped in 5 minutes. I think that the queue can sometimes bug and go forever until you reset it.

Settler Rev auto vs. Mara staff ele auto

in PvP

Loboling.5293

This is by far the best thread complaining that rev is OP.

heavy class auto attacking in melee a ranged light armor class who is also only auto attacking and the heavy wins. Do this same thing with a war with healing signet, get rekt.

This is so dumb, I’m not I should’ve even responded. Rev is a powerful class, but even a ranger auto attacking with gs would prob win. Staff ele is not, NOT, meant to stand toe to toe with their enemies and auto attack. I find damage staff (I run zerker amulet) decent; it is not really viable for ranked, but it does lots of damage and rarely dies. It surprisingly sucks in stronghold (or that was my experience), but when enemies have to stand on a point and you are blasting them with meteors, lava and fire “pellets” (new name), it really brings the hurt. I almost never lose a teamfight on my damage ele. But I need cover players, meaning I can’t contribute to conquest as much as cele. Still, the op needs to l2p.

Overload is just sooo boring

in Elementalist

Loboling.5293

for pvp only find earth overload useful… only fix I would add is being able to cast while you do them.. so you can teleport in the the middle of the enemies as earth is finishing for 4 second immobilize…I am not an adept pvp player so what should I know… I speak from WvW point of view.

You are not able to cast, but you can always use instant spells like lightning flash. I often flash and finish on players to immobilize. Unless I’m tripping, I don’t think teleporting or using any instant spells like (obsidian flesh) cancel the overload. It is too bad they made the overloads so long, cause you can even overload in mist form, but it cancels when you come out, preventing you from finishing an overload.

I think a few of the overloads need a slight boost, but mostly I am happy with them. I can understand how some people find them slow. They are in fact trying to bring a slower playstyle to the elementalist. My friend who is pretty bad at ele asked me why anyone would play the base class with tempest available. The tempest is helpful for those who have trouble the combos of elementalist. When I’m feeling more lazy, I’ll often play staff tempest for pve. With lava font on down, I often don’t even need to worry about getting downed, as I usually kill something for a rally after I do.

So overall, the overloads do slow down the playstyle, and give little actual benifit (just a different playstyle). I think they did a good job with tempest. Sure, like many others I was really looking forward to a fast paced melee sword tempest. Instead we got a warhorn and gimmicky spells. (except shouts, these rock) Some probably feel disapointed, but hopefully the next spec that comes out will be a quick and effective melee class. Hopefully a grandmaster will give 300 vit like the guard one to make it viable in real melee. And I hope it has base range 130, and lots of teleports. Kind of like watching an anime where the guy draws his sword at a distance, and the next second he is behind the person sheathing his sword, and the person explodes in flames. I can dream…

OMG Awesome !!!! Thanks Anet

I love buying things on the gem store. But lately, I haven’t spent a dime. The lack of skins released in the game some of us spent 100$ on is ludicrous. The fact that I can’t earn a single, NOT ONE, glider skin is a farce. The removal of visuals that do not take away from the game play, but add immensely to the enjoyment of the game was the final straw for me withholding money to the gemstore.

I like this game, but kitten have they made poor choices lately. alienating such a big part of their playerbase, myself included. The new “I’m not happy playing wow” crowd they are trying to con into feeling like this is how things have always been. You’re used to paying 15$ a month, so pay us now. The value of gw2 has been sinking.

As funny as this sounds, the game itself is close to no longer being the best. It still would have quite a life +5 years with this business model, but many players will be gone within 2 years in my opinion if this keeps up. It will really feel like a f2p game come 2017.

Sad to see so much quality be ignored. I won’t sidetrack too much, but the lack of your ability to speak with most npcs in personal story missions anymore is a joke. The ending of the story better have been to build up something else, cause it made no sense otherwise. The lack of variety in the new maps (play events on hardmode or go home). The lack of new skins. The visual nerfs. The endless experience grind at 80 to allow players to explore. (I enjoyed it a bit, but I just don’t have the heart to grind anymore) The lack of a balance pass for pvp before the season. The lack of forethought for the pvp season. The horrible design of the new wvw map. Ignoring the wvw community for so long that it died. Cutting corners on the rev (underwater weapons, some legends not working underwater). SO MANY THINGS that never would’ve happened at release 3 years ago, or even 2 years ago. I could even go on and name more, but this is becoming a rant rather than constructive.

Suggestion: Top Stats = No lost pips

This guy is onto something. TOP STATS ARE LIFE! When I get top stats, not only do I know I contributed more to the game than any of my teammates (who needs them right?!?), but I actually find money under my pillow in the morning without needing to give up teeth.

Top stats are the only way to gauge skill, so I often spend the whole game running around decapping and hitting enemies who are fighting once then running away. This is the epitome of skill. No need to wait around and cap or finish off players, if any players actually die due to the efforts of my teammates, I get full credit. They really need to learn to play.

you get ban, that is for sure. restarting queue is federal crime

irony off … is there something NOT broken in PvP recently ?

I think the gates in foefire always start at full health now. For what its worth.

Either way, pvp is pretty funny now. This trick obviously works. The matchmaking will place you farther and farther from your mmr rating the longer the queue goes. So it makes sense that if you only enter quickly matched games that you will face opponents closer to your skill level more often, leading to easier games.

So I tried out d/d ele again today..

I don’t know, I agree a glass rev sticking to you is almost as tough as thief. I still find that with my build I can pressure them pretty well. Again, its about positioning, there are spots that sword 3 bugs, and spots that teleports fail. Knowing this really hurts revs trying to chase you down. I agree that I can often go most games without much focus on me, when someone tries to get me, I can usually get away.

Don’t get me wrong, its not a strong build in the current meta, but the current meta doesn’t have many easy ways to down a 12k hp ele funny enough. I crit my meteor shower for 5k on blue lord, I’m not sure how much armor he has, and I don’t spend time looking at my damage against players due to being so busy hustling around, but that is a lot of damage. I find only a mesmer can stay on a point for over 10 seconds. If they try and stay for too long and no one chases me down, I’ll down them within 20 seconds. Again though, the current counter is just to walk off the point, and back on when needed. I can’t go on the point with the build (except maybe a quick decap). However it can be a fun build when you have a good team that knows how to stay on the points. As I said, often, my team gravitates to sticking with me, cause when they do they feel very powerful. But then, the enemy easily takes the rest of the map.

fireball might look like kitten now, but it still hits really hard with lava font, meteors and 25 might. (my build always has 25 might when attacking a point) It just hurts, and I go most games with 1-2 deaths only.

I still win most of my games as a d/f tempest and lost a lot as a glass staff. Holding a point and having some presence is just so important in this meta where the enemies can stick on a point for so long, even against super hard burst builds.

I held for almost 30 seconds against a maurader scrapper and dh, until help got there on my tempest build. The sustain of some builds is crazy. You really need to go full damage to hurt other players, but then you lose point presence. Hopefully they nerf some of the sustain of this meta. I’ve always enjoyed damage builds more. When everyone is a bunker with small damage or a condi class that can just be cleansed (rev/reaper) the fights can last a while.

Also, lol to anyone who has issues with dh. I feel bad for them, they can only kill inexperienced and bad players.

So I tried out d/d ele again today..

in Elementalist

Posted by: Loboling.5293

Loboling.5293

Haven’t tried a d/d since the update. But with my glass staff build (not tempest) I don’t usually die even once in a game. The new meta has a lot of close range pressure, but if you position properly there are few meta builds that can properly pressure you. With less thieves around, I am often uncontested. It still doesn’t work too well due to the fact that I can’t really go on point, and the team I’m on is often only winning at whichever point I’m at and losing the other two points. The damage pressure of a arc/air/fire staff ele with zerker amulet is crazy. Glad the current meta can barely deal with it. I do miss downing a whole team on a point, but that meta has passed, everyone is tanky enough to get off point or die.

One more time: This change sucks. Please do not randomly nerf visuals. Fireball used to be awesome… Please revert the recent visual nerfs. Focus on abilities that prevent players from seeing a bosses actions. This is one of the only times I feel confused by the visuals.

Sorry this is off-topic, but I too recently bought killing floor 2. I’ve actually bought a few games that were on sale on steam due to this change. It left a sour taste in regards to gw2.
