I feel I need to ask this to be sure. Are you in a level 80 area when looking at this? And are you counting your toughness and vitality without the WvW buffs, as I believe nourishment calculates from your stats before other buffs are counted.

You didn’t mention that it is possible to fall through the floor from a burrow until you land in water. I was told it wasn’t a fun experience, especially to happen at the start of the ’lover’s crypt’ and essence collectors of Path 3. Similar things happen in other areas of the game, including wvw. I was trapped in a building before upon capping a camp x.x

There are 2 reasons for that, it counts as an instance and the one that opens is the ‘owner,’ and if the owner leaves the party, everyone is kicked. Also, there was an abuse of this mechanic in that the one that opened the dungeon could leave party at the boss, kick everyone else, and invite their friends to finish it. Now, they are kicked as well.

Unfortunately, with how it is implemented, this also means that the one that opens cannot switch character.

This type of thing has been known for a long time, since beta. And tbh, it’s something that most everyone doesn’t want ‘fixed’ because it’s hilarious and does nothing to anyone at all. It’s just a few mins of that’s funny. All you have to do to get our of it is stop or change direction or put up weapons.

I know not all become contested, that are now always shown as contested. Others do have just one little event that ends fast and doesn’t contest it for long, those would be always contested under megaserver. I understand those, although it’s an extreme nuisance, but not all those that are contested.

Agreed, this is a severe issue. Just think about guild missions… especially bounties.

It is not giving the priority to Party or Guild that it is supposed to. It only halfway seems to care about server. I want to play with others from my ‘server’ outside of WvW. They were a lot friendlier than some of the people we now have to deal with. But I Demand that I be allowed to join my guild, on whatever map we choose to go to, without having to designate one or two people as ‘taxis’ because it is an inconvenience to all and could cost precious time that ends in losing a bounty. There is no excuse to be separated from Party unless a map is absolutely filled, but that would also mean ‘Join in …’ would fail as well, and that has not happened to me, but separating my party and my guild has happened too often already.

Regardless, it should still give the Mad Memoires skin because to get the complete you HAD to have received that one. Also the story at the time stated you needed it, which is why wiki states that.

As for the others, I’m not surprised, and would be an issue that would need addressed as well.

It’s supposed to only contest waypoints that actually become, you know, contested. However, it is affecting virtually all the waypoints there.

Even the Living Story had a similar issue with it’s achievements. Scarlet fight is a good example.

It’s not bugged, the achievement is linked to the party, not only you

Where is your source for this statement?

The other similar fractal achievements aren’t based on the party, only 2 specifically mention party and that’s killing everything in jade maw, and the chickens on the ascalonian one. The achievement implies you not your party. Tying this one achievement to everyone is wrong, and I do not believe it to be the case. If it is, it needs fixed because it would also have clones/pets/minions/probably summoned via runes as well/etc count against your party.

I noticed it right after the feature patch. There have already been many posts about this. It has always added each hit, but it’s supposed to restart the count every ‘cycle’ of the channeled skill but currently is not.

A worse issue is that it will now do no damage at all at times.

The thing is, it was used to give characters that ‘personality’. Although I knew it did essentially nothing, having those different types on different characters just added a little something to the game, and now it is one other little feature that appears to be forever lost.

I remember it doing that. Had to go out and hunt down undead. I saw them just standing off to the side once, although another time had no choice but to restart the instance, as even pulling in undead did not advance it. Fortunately, this part of the story isn’t a long one, it is just annoying.

I can say the last times I did it, I ran straight to the npc’s without killing anything, and had no issues, but that was because I wanted it done and over.

People also haven’t realized that with the Ferocity change crit damage in pvp on the zerker amulet actually got buffed. That’s why everything is hitting harder. It’s amazing that this happens and people complain but thieves have been backstabbing for 10k+ since always.

The crit damage just needs to be lowered again that’s all if you guys a really think it’s so bad.

They only think its bad because its not a thief doing the damage.

They think its bad because its a IA (where the mesmer its in stealth) doing the damage. The thief must be exposed, and BS have position requirements, melee range and puts revealed on the thief. Mesmer only push a button and facerrolls in stealth

Thief must be exposed? Not entirely true. Dealt with a very annoying one that was in stealth most of the time, dropping poison fields and doing other things, and they can hit very hard coming out of stealth.

Besides, phantasms/clones are the mechanic of mesmers. Without the phantasms, mesmer can’t deal much actual damage. As others have also said, the mesmer went in stealth? How about attacking the things actually dealing damage to you? You can kill them so easily… I am almost surprised by how many people will stand there and take a full hit from the berserker and duelist, and very irritated by the few that dodge everything.

I know I can say that in WvW/PvE I have not noticed any change. PvP I haven’t tested myself but from what others are saying they are seeing the same as it always has been. So if something is broken now, it isn’t that the phantasms themselves are suddenly stronger. Perhaps there is an issue with sigil/rune/might combination? I’m not testing it in WvW, because no way am I spending the money on the runes to test, nor would I give up my current runes.

To another poster:
Most of the complaints against thieves and their backstab that I have heard has been WvW, and it’s primarily the fact they stealth so much, can do a lot of damage, and get away, while defeating most skills because you can’t target them. I’ve started to play thief there to learn more about it, and get some revenge. Despite the fact I don’t stealth myself, I already was doing well against them, though. But PvP? Power is more often than not weak compared to conditions, although some teams do make very good use of power.

As for other complaint about guardian spirit weapons? They did crazy amounts of damage before the patch, so again I don’t think it’s actually changed? And without those weapons the guardian was… I think the word he used was lackluster until recharge.

And the Svanir/Chieftain/etc doing more damage? Well shouldn’t they actually do something? I mean, they are being attacked, and are a way to get bonuses/points, and aren’t meant to be a punching bag.

Perhaps it wasn’t as severe as you saw it? I have no idea since, obviously, I have not read what happened. Or maybe they felt it just wasn’t quite enough to throw a 72 hour ban on, and all you need to do is block them, but please note: I am not condoning verbal abuse. But sometimes people see things differently than intended.

OP’s question was answered, there’s no reason to keep this going. The very same question was asked in gw1 all the time, despite the fact that eventually we even had Dhuum come in and kill the player as a result of reporting. Even something so visual and known to many wasn’t enough to sway the belief that reports did nothing.

Didn’t that often happen even before MegaServers? I know I’ve read people commenting on being returned to a different map after disconnection even before MegaServers were implemented.

With overflows yes, all the time, but not with ‘main’ unless the map was filled before you could get back in. The problem is more pronounced now that everything is overflow aka megaserver, leading to more people being affected by it.

Edit: On plus side, perhaps they will come up with a solution, preferably while also fixing map loading times.

Yes that is a problem, one of the many problems with megaserver. People d/c, and it puts them in a different copy of the map. Worse, if everyone dc’s, the map is destroyed (I mean, the chances of that happening are kinda slim, though), or everyone gets thrown into a different ‘copy’ when they log back in.

other 10? lol. Many have Foefire’s Essence. I’ve had it for over a year and worked hard to get it on Guardian. I have not transmuted it though. I was mad when they kinda ‘nerfed’ it’s effects right after I got it. I do need to make an ascended and skin it but haven’t done so yet. This discourages that :/

This seems to happen with Reinforced gates. Regular gates seem to behave as before. However, reinforced, I saw my berserker phantasm appear inside the keep, then run off and vanish, and duelist just stood there like they had no idea what to do.

Edit: I haven’t tried it in EotM since feature patch so it seems there is more to it. The tower I tried it at was T1 and had no issues, but at Bay with reinforced gates I had the issue as described above.

It isn’t a return, it hasn’t gone away. I had to do it 4 times because of various bugs when I did it on another character ~4 months ago, including ending up under the 2nd gate.

I have found that it seems a lot harder to jump over than before, lately. In fact I’ve had basically no success jumping over it where I use to most of the time. That doesn’t mean it’s changed at all though, since it isn’t like I encounter it a lot and have the opportunity to jump it enough to test.

Picking up a conjure weapon at the same time someone else does, or as it vanishes, or an enemies (in wvw for example) will do it, same with some found on the ground in pve. Other times, not sure at all.

It’s far too fast compared to pve, even if you do horribly. I was surprised that it says set, less so that it only gives one piece. But if it’s intentional, they need to fix wording as well as allow selecting the piece.

It is a bug that has been around longer than just the patch. It’s been an issue for months.

Going into Hero and swapping there has always fixed it for me, unless you are getting skill lock, where no weapon skills work at all. Then you have to be feared/stunned/dazed/downed/die, or use an instrument, (or a consumable weapon in pve)

You should be able to kill other things, or revive nearby npc’s, to get credit for the heart, but it takes a lot longer. I do not remember that one in particular, though, so that may not help, but many hearts are having issues.

Portals can sometimes fix it where shadowsteps or weapon swapping do not. Waypointing should work unless you are stuck in combat, of course. It is a very annoying bug, and occurs everywhere, some days far worse than others.

Snowden, Malchor, and a few others aren’t supposed to be ‘megaserver’ but in some ways they are acting as such.

This is one of the more serious issues with Megaserver, and the problem will only get worse, not better. With megaserver, there is no ‘overflow’ so no notification will occur. I don’t want a notification every time I go in a map, it’s annoying. However, separating a guild doing missions is serious. Just an inconvenience on some, but for bounties? It can cause it to fail.

As far as I’ve seen, there is little preference, if any, given to keeping a guild together, and not much more given to party. I’ve seen almost every person in the party split into different versions of a map.

Until they give us some sort of actual fix, Someone will have to be designated as chauffeur and everyone join on them. It’s ridiculous.

There are many things like this not working, including hearts that are extremely difficult to finish because the main things you are supposed to be doing aren’t working, ex: termite mounds and hylek guns.

I was told it was related to a recent bug fix about damaging inanimate objects, but I don’t know.

Yeah it was confusing when I first noticed it, then funny, and now annoying.

There’s another issue that is apparently affecting multiple classes as well, that sometimes you do no damage at all, and have to stop attacking and start again. This is occurring often in WvW, so far with doors and golems. Oddly, 2 golems were in a line, I had the far one targeted, but only did damage to the nearer one until I stopped attacking, and started again. I didn’t think to check the combat log >.<

It doesn’t make sense, because as has been said, you had to have the book before you could continue, that was part of the story. You received both via mail, so it wasn’t removed, however, it would have been if they had implemented this today.

I believe Arenanet has said this and some other skins will be corrected, but I do not remember where I saw this stated.

It isn’t just in preview, the effects are in game. Ascalonian weapons are causing various issues with skins. For example, Kasmeer’s staff on the ascalonian staff… at night it either won’t open, or won’t close.

There used to be an issue with total makeover kits breaking the glow. However, I had thought this issue was fixed over a year ago (then again, many other old bugs have come back).

It’s supposed to be that only the contestable waypoints are… well… contested. However, as many are seeing, every waypoint, except those at the entrance/exit of a zone is. (Actually it’s worse since the one right in front of you is also contested…) And yeah, the AC waypoint is never contested. It is likely there was originally going to be an event involved with it, so it’s treated the same way, but this is just a guess.

It isn’t just Necro skills doing this. Mesmer GS 1 sometimes does the same thing. I’ve had to stop attacking, and start again, just to do damage.

Also, this explains why it seemed like Corrupt Boon wasn’t doing anything. I thought I was doing something wrong >.<

I loved that this gave a new build option. And I understand auto attack not being affected. That was obviously a bug. But, doesn’t affect thieves at all now really. That’s just…
At the very least make it take away a lot of initiative, something to be punishing, instead of making it virtually useless against them. I loved the trait, and agree it was bugged against auto-attack and defiant. But the fact there is a class that it is virtually useless against, means I am now considering reverting to my previous build.

edit: With how thief regenerates initiative so quickly, I don’t really think that would be enough, but it needs something. I mean, look at it this way. War interrupted: messes up hammer attacks with 10 extra seconds of cooldown. But thief can continue heartseeker spam immediately. This goes back to interrupts originally never having a negative effect on thieves, and apparently is how it is desired…

The whole WvW “argument” doesnt have any weight to it. What’s to stop people from guesting on servers specifically to gather that information now? Or those who have a second or third account homed on those servers?

The WvW comments I saw, which I may have missed the ones you are referring to, were saying that they would now have a harder time putting out the call for needing help if say your Borderland was suddenly under attack.

I meant that I see no problems that aren’t hugely compensated by the benefits of this change.

Oddly enough, I can’t see enough benefits of this change to compensate for the problems. Strict schedule for world bosses including making some of them all but impossible for working players to do them in a lot of timezones. There is a loss of transparency over the world status that this merge will bring; the fact that spontaneous groups that form for the Orr temples, for example, will lose one another if they change maps because the game will sort people into other instances. Larger guilds may end up scattering as they try to zone into certain maps, trying to find a server that can hold everyone may prove painful. They haven’t addressed any of these concerns yet.

The sole benefit is that more people will be around in each map. That’s a mixed blessing, especially while levelling, sure there’s people to play with but you will come across fewer events you can start off yourself (including fewer temple fights) and there will be fewer mobs in the world with less bonus XP for killing them. I remember being quite glad when the starter/levelling zones calmed down a bit; it made getting through them on alts a lot easier and more “profitable” from a levelling standpoint (as in more XP and more karma).

This brings up a point I’ve wondered why hadn’t been said, and I had neglected to bring up. Medium to large (mostly large) guilds, doing bounties and other guild missions… will be likely to end up split across maps when they try to do their guild missions together. For some, it’s an inconvenience to get together, require the use of taxiing, but for bounties? Where time is of the essence? I can imagine this extra frustration. And it WILL occur at times. How often? Depends on zone.

edit to prevent inevitable ‘But megaserver will give preference to guild’: Sure, but there will already be people in that map, and if the guild fills it, the rest will get thrown somewhere. With the likely way some maps will be pretty full… I imagine it’s already a pain on some servers, especially the bounty in Gendarran… only worse. And the worst cases of this probably won’t even be an issue at first since only the lowest population will be done on the 15th. But it will happen.

I just read the article linked in the op.

Did I really just read a whole paragraph telling me how ‘syncing up the servers with the power of night and day’ is this great new innovation bravo anet? Jesus Anet is bad off if they need to pass off the concept of timing as some new innovation.

As it currently is, maps have different day/night. One map, say Gendarran, is middle of the day, and you go into Lornars.. suddenly it’s the middle of the night (typically, it isn’t this extreme since 2/3rds of a cycle is daytime). I ‘assume’ this is what they are referring to? Although I did not pay attention to that comment at all.

Can we all just agree that there are no valid reasons to be against dueling, and that everyone is either trolling or a kitten. This shouldn’t even be a discussion, it is just the same “but i dont want to duel therefore it sucks and i dont want it blah blah” vs actual reasons for why it will be great.

So, are you saying that everyone that doesn’t agree with what you want is a troll or a kitten?

I think those with that opinion are the ones that have no valid reason to be in this thread, but I’m not here to denigrate anyone, and you are free to post constructively as well. The only reason I posted before in this thread was to help show people the concerns against it, and the problems that must be overcome to implement.

There are many actual reasons against it, but some seem to dismiss them and their concerns completely, or twist what was actually said. I mean, I raised a number of issues that have been expressed by others, or that developers would have to consider regardless if any player cared or not, and one line essentially taken out of context was basically used to invalidate everything. That doesn’t help discussion at all. Although, to be fair, maybe that was the only point they questioned? I didn’t ask. Either way, they didn’t seem to understand what I wanted to convey.

But to be honest, I saw this thread as dying, which was fine by me. Perhaps I shouldn’t bother posting in hopes this one would go away, but I wanted to respond to this. Besides, it isn’t like it would be replaced in no time by another one right? (sarcasm aside, it probably already was, but I don’t troll the forums)

One thing I do wonder about is, will I ever be able to do events like the shaman at the Frozen Maw with just a tiny handful of people (fun!), which sometimes happens when I’m playing at off-peak hours? Or will every run of such events always have a huge zerg going on in the future, because I’ll be in the same instance as everyone all over the continent that’s still online at those ungodly hours, instead of just the guys on my server? If the latter, I might as well quit the game. I can’t stand zerg play.

It will be guaranteed zerg play, as there won’t be any other major event going on at that moment.

I’m also going to point out, how many times have we not been able to do a World Boss due to getting stuck in an overflow? We’ve been asking the Dev’s to fix this issue. The Mega Server is a fix for a lot of players whom miss the dragons often.

How is this a fix? All instances are now going to be overflow.

What they are saying is, the new ‘overflows’ will run the events as well.
But this doesn’t really ‘fix’ the issue at all, and causing many to not even have the chance to get in a map to do it for a lot of players because they are going to be left out due to it being scheduled around specific times

All that mindless zerging? I already had my fill of it, and semi-quit because that was all I did for quite a while. If I wanted mindless zerging, I’d just always follow the tag in EB (of course now there’s very long queues, but point stands) or Edge of the Mists, or stick to the upcoming schedule of bosses being forced upon us. I’m sorry but it just sounds so boring. I can get more rewards, except karma, faster just going to Frostgorge and doing the champion train there for a more relaxed time. Which is much more likely to become less relaxed as well. It is never fun to have to fight against time to get 1 or 2 hits in before something dies and you lose out on credit, since that was the entire point to being there. I rarely do that because it is so mind-numbing, and when I do, it isn’t for very long. I don’t even want to try to find the maps actually doing the temple events once they are merged.

Now, that’s about all that will be offered to us, zerging on a set schedule artificially forced upon us. I cringe every time I think about this Megaserver, that feels more like it is a Megasevering of my server outside of WvW, the entire reason I stayed on it since Beta. I hope that I am wrong, that my fears and concerns are unfounded… but I hope that they reconsider how they are going about this idea of theirs, because this is a VERY risky gamble to force on us.

As many have said, I want more choice, not less with a limiting timetable. I assume their goal is to make these events appear highly populated at each time, but the result is likely to push many away from even bothering with those.
