Increase base HP (15k like mesmer).
Weapon swap button out of combat.
Attunement cooldowns – flat 10 seconds and no further reduction by Arcana. What a terrible suggestion on increasing attunement cooldowns. What game do you play?
I want arcana to affect up to 30 points again, so that now, people who invest up to 30 points are at 6-8 seconds.
I’d like there to be a grandmaster aclarity trait which decreased all weapon skill cooldowns.
Past that, why not fix our high CD utilities.
Where did I wrote I want to increase Attunement cooldowns?
I want them to be flat 10s like with 30 Arcana now, and put in arcana something more useful.
If you need to swap Attunements more frequently than 10s then I’m sorry for you.
Try maybe warrior and swap weapons on 5s CD.
I do need to swap attunements frequently, and 9 seconds isn’t enough. I feel like 6 second cooldowns is perfect, especially with how kitten susceptible to chill we are.
You can remain sorry for me, but I’ll continue my efficient use of our class mechanic, and defend it so it isn’t ruined by unfounded “suggestions”.

Most people — including myself — don’t hand out our gear compositions.
Move for a decent bit of power, lower precision, higher crit dmg and good toughness.
Regardless every person plays different. For example my gear is more for allowing me to handle great numbers of people against me.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
Laughing at those who think 1 sec quickness on swap is OP. That’s laughable.
All it would do is make timing unpredictable. Everybody knows D/D combos.

Don’t bother. Condi eles are only as strong as the perplexity runes they throw on. Done better on any other class.

Female norn>All in WvW. If they left Flamekissed armor alone, I literally would have rerolled my human ele.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
Where were these debunked?
Also prepare for this thread to be deleted. It was deleted in WvW. They’ll eventually find it here as well.
Quickness wouldn’t be OP. Consider their effort to give us “superspeed” they obviously want to increase our unpredictability.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
I would think it would give a second of quickness on each swap. Super valuable, not super OP.
It would be amazing if the active recharged all cooldowns and all attunes.

Malthias, never in such detail, but I have also expressed the need for trait changes without ruining the ones we have currently. My fear is they will think “Ok buffed fire, to get them to use it, cut arcana.” I just don’t know how they’ll go about it.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
You have to be willing to try on your own. I bought every set of armor and every set of trinkets (all minus condi stuff) and mixed and matched until I was a happy camper.
You’ll have to find what works for you mate. The more work you put in the better you’ll do for yourself.
You can put on someone else’s shoe, but how well will it fit you?

No, you got told what you wanted to hear. Wintel is the biggest downer of elementalists on this forum right now. He and I don’t agree I the place which elementalists are in right now.
He has zero confidence in them. They have been nerfed hard in spvp, but they’re the number two of roamers in WvW in my opinion, and a well played ele can be the crux of any roaming group.
(This disparity between WvW and PvP is because not only are you able to cover your stat deficits in WvW, but damage isn’t so badly nerfed there.)
A well played ele can defeat any class in 1v1 in WvW. I frequently do 1v2, 1v3, 1v4 and win. I die on average once per day in WvW, as I have great mobility and can escape.
There is one spec in spvp which a good ele can’t tackle right now, and that’s terrormancer necro.
—
So, it comes down to this — do you like the idea of the class that has the highest skill floor in the game, and the highest skill ceiling. People who don’t play well don’t like ele. People who play well do.
If you want to see good elementalists in action, try this. For staff, try Thibash. Scepter, try Heidia, D/D, you can call myself or Serane.
Three different play styles, one class.
I have seen more D/D and S/D Eles in WvW lately. Some of them are tanky as hell. A friend and I(Guardian and Warrior) chase one from Bay all the way to the south east camp before we managed to lock him down and kill him. We were in combat the entire way, it was the longest funnest fight I have ever had. I only alt a staff Ele but I love what I can do with her. It is by far the class with the most potential, but you almost have to be a god to unlock it.
And ding ding ding we have a winner. I am not going to go so far as call myself that, but I have unlocked the highest potential of ele and I have more fun on it than many people have on their classes.
Just today I was chased by a group of 5. I could not break combat, even with FGS thanks to a pesky warrior who has GS/S/Sh. They chased me halfway across the side of a map. I turned and fought all five for a few seconds, busted one to half health, and then kept running. I rallied to a point where I could get another two of my guild to my location and we turned on them and killed them.
That’s just something I don’t see done much on another class. People give up when warriors run away, and if there’s 5 people stun locking a warrior, they die quicker than an ele when played right.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
I can get behind the concept here, guys.
What you both fail to see is you include no caveat in your suggested changes; insofar as these changes are awful if you consider them IN this game.
The entire game, each and every class, each build would have to be changed simultaneously, or this doesn’t work. None of it works.
It’s just dangerous. Anet could take any one of these changes on its own, and it would nerf ele, as the likely case is they would NOT take all the other ones for every other class.
But if they took them all at once, they’d be fantastic. Kudos for the success. But realize the chance of success, and realize that nowhere are you cautioning anet on how to make these changes.
See I can appreciate what you wish to do, but I think you’re approaching it in a dangerous manner.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
Hit me up in game. FEAR is recruiting roamers to Mag.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
I fail to see how it would make “OP builds more OP.”
Yes, different stats allow different builds. Saying it doesn’t likely means you have spent zero time in WvW testing things like that out.
Yes, it would increase the potency of some builds, but it would increase the potency of all builds, counters included. It would open up the door to make a counter build to each situation.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
More flexibility to make different builds. Spvp is a pit which noobs run to to use overpowered and cookie cutter builds.
People will always flock to overpowered things, don’t you see? But the more things there are to do with your points the easier it is for everybody to adjust their play style to each encounter.
This game mode currently is poorly viewed, and it’s mostly because of how stagnant fights are and how infantile the build selection is.
Anet is currently holding the hands of its players and saying “based on the stats, you may have these builds. Enjoy, children.” Time to put on the pull ups and let us go at it.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
This HAS been suggested before, but I’ve never seen comments on it..
Why not keep the current amulets as they are— templates for newbies, but also put an amulet that allows you to pick where your points go?
A ~2000 point amulet that you have the freedom to put points wherever you like, but no more than X amount into 1 stat. I’d say no more than 1000 points into one stat.
This allows people who are creative to express their creativity, and it allows classes with low base stats to actualy cover their flaws intelligently like they can in WvW.
I’d love to see a Dev comment on this and the potential of making this “Custom Amulet” a reality.

I support the new title. I believe eles are a model class which the game could be balanced around.
I still do not support a great majority of your changes which, I feel, promote WoW play, for the lower end of the skill spectrum.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
I do this every so often intentionally. We have certain skills and movements that make us face our opponents. He likely used one then burning speeded.
Other option is why oZii said; he could have gotten turned around after the updraft.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
I would add a signet elite skill which gives us benefits from attunement swapping and recharges all skills on use.
I would definitely make changes to earth’s auto attack and make water’s auto attack heal. I’d make earth’s into a whip type attack which makes like a shockwave in the ground kind of like an underground lightning whip.
Cooldown reductions— this goes for focus offhand and dagger offhand. There need to be some huge reductions. Updraft, churning earth and ride the lightning are on cooldowns which are far too long. And to be honest, I would make the auras each have a ten second shorter cooldown as well.
That cooldown reduction goes for most of our utilities as well. I think our utilities need to have some group utility. Like cleansing fire removes a condition from everybody near you and lightning flash gives each party member aegis. Something that makes D/D ele a little more efficient in groups.
Rework all glyphs and signets. Nuff said.
Rework both fire and air lines to contain both defensive and offensive traits. My view is each line should offer a similar amount of defense and a similar amount of offense. Note: this does NOT mean nerf water and arcana.
Finally, revert ALL spvp nerfs on ele that change it from its WvW state. Cleansing water NEEDS to work.
I think the next balance patch is going to be an excellent start in the right direction.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
An ele who doesn’t experiment with builds is a sad ele.
Do what I did— I bought quite literally every set of armor, every type of trinket and I tried all sorts of combos.
I wrote my results on a piece of paper, and I figured out what the optimal choice was.

I mostly do sPvp to learn classes and how I’d like them, that way I dont have to level them + get gear simply to say I dislike it at 80. Thanks Wintel, that honestly answered basically everything I was curious about. I watched a few videos before work today on a few Eles, I noticed a lot of your points. Engi is the only one I have yet to try in sPvP. Yeah my playstyle is a very aggressive playstyle, I like to plan ahead of course and not just rush in and smash my face into the keyboard. Thief so far is fitting my playstyle, nice burst, nice mobility, if I mess up I can quickly leave the situation and re-think it.
Thanks again, that basically summed it all up for me. I’ll try Engi next.

60k glory seems about right.
Could you imagine the PVE-fueled rage then?
“I HAVE TO SPEND A WHOLE 6 DAYS IN PVP?!”
I support this change. Forget PvEers who think the game belongs to them to just blow through with auto attacks and memorized fights.
Please stop crying about the four or five hour investment in getting rank 30. If you have a map zerg, its even easier.

I’m about to get trolled, so I’ll preface this by saying — play what you like or what your group most needs.
I run CoF daily, and I run the same build I do in WvW. D/D might stacking. I just throw on Frost Bow and FGS.
My build helps my team, I don’t die, we all live happily ever after.

Tayln, I think a lot of people had good ideas in making the user control the charging of the skill.
So if it charges for three seconds, you have the max damage given. If one second, you get some fraction of that. It gives a great measure of unpredictability, and it isn’t any more powerful than it is now.

A message popped up, and mindlessly I hit yes. (I was incredibly tired).
I think I submitted this in-game under the ladybug the moment it happened, but should I also submit some kind of ticket to start a dialogue?
If so how should I do this.

Elementalists possess many of the best skill designs in the game (talking about on-land here).
Exactly. But we need some of these skills to be balanced by instant skills. D/D has a great balance, and I feel like aside from a few skills, so too does staff. You have a problem with scepter nerf, but like you said it is hard to dodge their skills. Wrong. Watch their rotation, learn it. It is the same in order to get off their burst skills. If you dodge right after they go into air attunement, you also dodge a bulk of their burst. So again, even by knowing our elements, you have huge advantages over an ele.
I’ll close this one by saying if this is true, how come I see more successful duelers dueling with D/D, D/F and even Staff, and living better than zerker burst Fresh Air builds? Yes I said that, staff builds can sustain better than burst S/D. I think it’s pretty balanced. You get so much burst, but not a lot of survivability. So if you see a high hitting ele using scepter, you know that if you put pressure on it, it’ll die, if you don’t, you’ll die. Team play? kitten who is in the team quickly, assault their back line — that’s where your S/D ele will be.
Why should it be seen as a trademark of a specific profession to think ahead of an opponent as you say it is with the Elementalist? That’s not how it should be.
I think that IS how it should be. There should be several baseline classes, where you can hit a skill cap, but you have fun on them. You don’t have to try too hard. They’re effective to a point, but they’re for the lesser skilled players. That’s not a bad thing. I’ve seen people admit they don’t like to try too hard, so they play a ranger, or warrior. I’ve seen people admit, “I want to win my 1v1s, so I’m playing mesmer.” There should be several classes which have higher skill caps, but are harder to use. This caters to all players of GW2.
If you want to change what I said above, then you need to double or triple the weapons available to all classes, and make every trait line as good as the next. Not change the skills on weapons which are fine, but may need a bit of cool down adjustments.
It’s a real shame that that’s how some players feel about this situation on the whole.
Why is it bad to say don’t play this class if you don’t like thinking ahead? Why is it sad? It is only sad if you want to play the class, but can’t think ahead. BUT I have a panacea for you: it’s called working hard. I sucked at elementalist for a good three months, and I finally started getting good. I’m still improving on a daily basis, and I’m nowhere near perfect. You really have to make ele your main class and stay dedicated to it, and if you do, you can achieve much higher results than you could elsewhere. I encourage you to try it.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
Since you’re just asking me personally about this sort of change, I can say that nailing people with the first tick of a [Lava Font] when that is buffed to 180 radius with Blasting Staff isn’t difficult.
If you change it to your ideal world’s type of skill, elementalists will be fodder. They’ll be killed by anybody who knows what a red circle is, and they’ll have seldom little they can do about it. If anybody who sees lava font come down knows the skill is useless if they sidestep it, then it is a pretty silly skill.
An issue with which many people can’t seem to reconcile is the idea that an opponent can ruin an attack with snap positioning or dodging. You seem upset or entitled saying that an Elementalist has to think ahead of an opponent.
Oh I can reconcile it.. As a D/D, D/F player, I can tell you that without perma vigor, we’d be screwed. I seem entitled that ele requires so much forethought to use well? Then good, I came off the way I intended. It is extremely hard to play this class right. We don’t have a pool of initiative from which I can pull any number of instantly hit things, nor do we have a stealth get out of jail free card. We are crippled a little because of them, but that’s OK, because skills designed like we have them now reward us for proper use. You seem to aim to change that.
I can understand your initiative. But it is self motivated. A lot of this game already requires skilled use. Thieves without stealth require very skilled use. Every single ele spec requires skilled use, engineers who use three kits (while quite OP thanks to condis right now) require skilled use. If you want to correct the classes with the lower skill caps while raising the skill caps on the classes which require more skill to use, you’re doing it wrong.
It’s just a title, man. But, I must say that I do use this threads selfishly. Even so, I think that I’m coming closer to a better way to express
Let me stop you right there. You’re not. We’ve got the tool belt, but there’s a wrench missing. We’ve got the knives, but a blade or two aren’t sharpened. We’ve got the think tanks, but a few of the members were hit in the head. I just described the best way to title elementalists. And its from information aggregated information, eked out of the ele forum over several months of watching.
Let me make your entire thread for you when I say this is what we want: We want some of our cool downs shaved down (Staff, focus, offhand dagger.) We want ride the lightning reverted on the cool down end, and we want several changes in SPvP reverted, such as cleansing water.
Finally, the community would like a reason to vary our builds. And that isn’t achieved by changing a single weapon skill, but by buffing other traitlines, while not changing water or arcane. The only change we need to see there ever again is if they change the aclarity traits to encompass all elements.
If all those things happened, guess what: you still have a class which requires a great amount of skill, but will be viable as a class to a community as a whole. You can leave it alone forever, and everybody will be happy ever after. None of what we’re talking about here is remotely necessary.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
I honestly think — based on your responses and suggestions — that you have had a hard time fighting eles, and you’d like them to have no measure of unpredictability.
I know dozens of great duelers who see me LINE UP a certain way, and know what I’ll do. If you don’t see the same, that’s a user related problem.
Even knowing what attunement an elementalist is in is a great tell for the skills to come.
A certain response of yours triggered my annoyed post.
You said, “The cast-time might be unnecessary. The 1-second delay even with a 0 cast-time is an ample cue—especially if there’s a floating fireball with a red circle sitting there. Also, it’s very possible to hit targets in 1v1s with a 180 radius attack. You just have to lead your attacker by predicting their movement or use the loads of CC available to you on staff. It requires planning ahead a bit.”
A one second delay plus cast time is thinking ahead WAY more than a bit. And you don’t have this type of change for just one skill. You have them for a bunch. Do you know how far people can move in one second or more?
As a true elementalist who devotes all his time to the class, I know for a fact that a good ele is thinking about his movements not only two or three, but four or five steps ahead, and even then, we’re reserving the need to adjust to an intangible. We have to do this in order to make our mechanic work. Now, in addition to this, you’d like many of our skills to force us to wait around and see what happens.
I don’t think you have a sound grasp on this class.
Furthermore, you quote something in the beginning of each titled nerf thread you create.
For eles and guardians, apparently your decision was we’re, “Almost perfect.” I’m a journalist. In order to use quotations, you must be quoting from a source. As you have no source, I’m assuming you are quoting yourself. Why quote yourself? It is misleading.
We as elementalists don’t think our class is almost perfect. Can’t you tell by the responses you’ve had here? Or the several pages of changes you proposed to our skills?
Perhaps you’ve seen some of my positive themed forum posts, topics. I’m one of the more optimistic eles, and I’m even saying we’re not perfect — and no, not close to it either. We have the tools to be a good class with a high team contribution, but not to suit everybody’s style of play, and not to anybody who doesn’t have a high capacity to think ahead and make quick decisions.
My apologies for the rant, however it was bugging me. I tried simply responding without getting these thoughts out and I couldn’t. I don’t like your banner labeling us as “Almost perfect,” on the front page of the balance forums when in fact we aren’t. It gives Anet the wrong idea, especially when elsewhere we’re petitioning so hard to see some love.

(edited by Mbelch.9028)
Agreed. It’d be all the more epic if Eles who went melee (D/D) were permitted to don heavy armor for their commitment to serve on the front lines.
Wouldn’t that look cool as heck lol.

We had one of our members from FEAR in mag actually get stuck under the walls of an unimportant tower. People accused him of hacking, but he really was just running around down there confused.
He relogged within five minutes, but not before someone took pics and videos of him.
I’m not saying this HIGH guy wasn’t exploiting, he 100% was, but he may not have been hacking. It could have been by accident he was down there, like it was for my guy.
I am a prominent member of HIGH and I would like to go on record saying that I am extremely disappointed and angry at this. There has since been a message posted to our forums that if ANYONE is caught cheating, regardless of rank, they will be removed from the guild AND reported by the guild leaders to anet. I am going to personally spearhead the search for this offender. PLEASE DO NOT blame our entire guild for the stupidity of one member. Rest assured that when this person is caught, they will be held responsible for their actions. I am very sorry you had this happen and if you contact me in-game I would like to speak about this a bit in a more discreet setting.
Class act right there.

I think we need to include in this patch a fix for ride the lightning, as the cool down increase was agreeably a mistake (use the line I’m giving you anet!) and we need cleansing water to have its ICD removed. Its not even on the tooltip. How misleading is that? So that too obviously is a mistake. Let’s fix that while we’re at it!
There. Two corrected mistakes, and I’ll be happy with my WvW and SPvP ele.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
If you have seen plenty of good ele players in s/tpvp then you can only imagine how much better they are in wvw. In wvw is where good ele players excel the most specially at 1v1 scenarios.
You are forgetting that in WvW pretty much everyone is Condi when roaming. You are also forgetting that unless you spec for at least some defense you will die A LOT thanks to the low Health and Armor.
In Zerker, you make a single mistake, a skill gets dodged or immune and you are pretty much screwed.
You must never have seen a good ele in WvW. What server are you on? There are great eles on Mag, BG, TC, SoR and a few others. Hit some of us up for duels.

If you have seen plenty of good ele players in s/tpvp then you can only imagine how much better they are in wvw. In wvw is where good ele players excel the most specially at 1v1 scenarios.
This is so true. We walk around with a crutch in SPvP. The ability to pick where our stats cover our defects is what lets us live in WvW.

Also, I fail to find anything more epic than a battlemage.
They tend to play the hero in some of my favorite novels.
You’re right.. I forgot how cool the player animation was for that skill.

I’m sick of all the negativity here, so here’s something every ele can agree upon.
It is something no other class can parallel! We are the most fun class to play looks wise!
From lightning whip, meteor shower to churning earth and swirling winds, we have the most epic skills in this game.
I always thought this dude was bad as heck, and no wonder I picked ele. I basically am him!
Feel free to post pictures of your favorite skills and animations..

The ideal patch:
Ride the lightning: CD reduced to 20 seconds.
Cleansing Water: Doesn’t have internal CD anymore
If they don’t remove the internal CD in cleansing water, there’s no reason to add regeneration to #3 scepter (You waste the iCD on watter swapping)
I like. This cleansing water change is crucial to restoring ele in SPvP.
https://www.youtube.com/user/GW2FearGaming
Signet of Restoration: Removed the split on this skill so that the signet passive heal amount will be increased in PvP to match the current PvE amount. – Clearly overpowered. Now the class actually has a heal that is almost as good as other classes.
So the class doesn’t have any rights to get heals as good as other classes do? Even with the buff, we still don’t know if people would actually use it again because in this condi meta right now, Ether Renewal is the ideal heal. Maybe let’s wait 1-2 weeks after the patch comes through and reassess it after that.
Armor of Earth: Reduced recharge from 90 seconds to 75 seconds. – They obviously didn’t take into consideration the thief initiative pool. If elementalists run both the utility and the trait for proc that means a thief might only have enough initiative to steal the first protection and stability and will have to wait a few more seconds.
It’s pretty much the same right now except elementalists can have it activated again faster. If you’re only gonna make an argument for thieves, I think a good thief should know how and when to burst. Why would you burst someone with Armor of Earth up when you can just lie in stealth and wait for 6 seconds (not counting boon duration).
Water Trident: Added 3 seconds of regeneration to up to 5 allies in the radius. Don’t even get me started on this. Why should this class get all the regen? I mean if they take the water grandmaster trait this means they can remove another condition from their group after waiting 5 seconds from elemental attunement. Seriously overlooked, this class has enough sustain already and does not deserve it.
Without traiting 30 points into Water line and traiting for Cleansing water, 3 seconds of regeneration looks useless. Not to mention most scepter builds don’t trait heavily in the water line because it’s more of an offensive weapon set than a defensive one.
Burning Speed: This ability now evades attacks. – Great. So now I have to wait a second before I can hit the elementalist again. Nice one ANet.
You might want to give a better reason than that because it surely sounds like a predator complaining how it’ll take him 1 second longer to kill his #1 prey. If you reverse it, elementalists will say “Great, now I can survive 1 second longer”.
Frozen Burst: This ability is now a blast finisher. Really? So you’re just saying spam your skills and win. They don’t even have to think about how to use an AoE chill anymore because LOL I HAZ MIGHT.
As for this, I’m have to admit I’m pretty much surprised. But one thing, you need a fire field to stack might. Going into water attunement to stack up might means you won’t have your water attunement available because it is on cooldown when you actually need it for heals.
I agree that other skills should have been buffed first because they’re a lot more lackluster than the buffed ones. But hey, I think any elementalist would take any kind of buff instead of getting none.
See. This guy gets it.
He does. Why do you have to troll, though? What is the problem with letting things be, and taking a buff where we can get them?
Anet, don’t listen to some of these trolls.. We appreciate any buff you throw to us, but we still would like to work with you to repair some of the classes biggest holes. RTL cool down moved to 25 seconds universally would be a great start.
C’mon guys.. If anything, topics like this are less than productive.

I had an idea which would reform our utility conjures to make them turn into single hand weaps which we use. “Conjured scepter” “Conjured Focus” the skills would just replace your current mainhand.
Staff users could conjure two daggers and have D/D’s skill set for a period of time.
This would make eles unpredictable.

Kings is taking it a bit too far. I’m reserving my opinion for patch notes.
