The problem with defeating either dragon is explaining the persistance of their influence – Orr still full of Risen, SW still full of Mordrem, etc.
Call me crazy, but I think the personal story should be re-done where we FAIL to kill Zhaitan. We only neutralize it temporarily.
You can fish now. Grab a speargun and dive in.
Too bad they aren’t inteligent velociraptors. Ah, well, there are a few races we haven’t seen yet.
Whine-verns……………………
The specialization for every other class will be the ‘Anti-Revenant’ variation.
They need to sell an outfit in the gemstore that consists of a T-shirt with the words “I Win” on it.
Just to see people’s heads explode.
They should all be unlocked by visiting an ancient and wise guru… in Cantha.
I’d like one change – the ability to mix and match armor helmets with outfits. (i.e. leave helm on, but check off outfit headpiece, or vis-versa.
Since outfits have separate head pieces, this must be possible.
Just give my ranger an AK-47 while the skill is active…
The changes to adrenaline were all based on the fact that it was more beneficial to NOT spend it, but rather leave it at max. That isn’t true for DS, so the suggestion makes no sense.
Reddit has a post on the new stats, although I think it may have errors. I looked at Balt’s and thought it was Assassin’s instead of Rampager’s, but I may have been wrong. Grenth is supposedly zerker’s.
Still a lot of karma for armor…
PS rewards include other pieces, but they are not called ‘Stalwart’, IIRC. (‘Commando’, maybe?)
It’s been awhile, but I believe you can get the hat, coat and boots for sure.
Second character to do Episode 2, but that character’s first time. I got two achievements completed – “Mess with the Bull” and “Fire for Effect”.
Is this a new thing or a bug?
There are many problems with the story, but my quick rationalization is:
Your character was always about killing Elder Dragons, with Zaitan first on the list. You were never a ‘normal’ member of your Order or of the Pact, and when Zaitan was defeated you moved on. So your old Order is not giving you assignments, and you are effectively retired from the ‘Commander’ position. At best, you have some honorary/emeritus membership in those organizations.
I still like discovering caves or whatever, even if they are empty.
I suppose there could be rich rewards for the first time you discover something like that, but it would have to be by account – otherwise people wold farm it to death.
If you switch the Zhaitan and Mord globes, then it is the Zhaitan globe that slams into the center. But perhaps that is the past, and represents Zhaitan’s (failed?) attack.
And I doubt killing a dragon removes a globe – this is the Eternal Alchemy, afterall. Surely an overgunned airship can’t break it!
The dragons were destructive forces of nature that balanced out each other. However with zhaitan dead, the magic of zhaitan is now bleeding out into the mists. and if not stopped it will destabilize all of existence.
So Trahearne will pull a Kormir and take over Zhaitan’s spot, and we get to kill him.
Yeah, ranger longbow with the extended range trait takes no damage at all.
Your character only knows because he/she is, in fact, a minion of Mordremoth.
In the next episode, you realize you let the name slip and are forced to kill off the rest of Destiny’s Orphans before running after the Master of Peace to whack him.
It uses the vine-y map now.
I assume that cuts down on the overhead of firing up an instance, but it is a bit annoying – it means you can’t really re-play the story in its original form. The PS has the same issue with LA (and Kessex Hills, for that matter.)
Has anyone re-played Episode 1 since Episode 2 came out, and if so, do you re-play in the original town or the new (vine-y) one?
Because I don’t see why instanced re-plays wouldn’t use the old version of the map.
I have two pets with chill on F2; they appear to be affecting themselves (the cooldown on F2 shows blue.)
It’s even worse because the cursor turns red over enemies, which makes it even harder to see.
Since the Personal Story occurs prior to LS 1, the episodes that take place in Lion’s Arch should be set in the original, undestroyed version of it. And the same applies to any other zone that has changed (or will change) over time.
Is this possible? Will we ever see this? Otherwise, re-playing LS episodes in zones which are very different tends to make the story nonsensical.
PS episodes in LA are faintly ridiculous because, for example, people are discussing how Lion’s Arch will never fall when it is already destroyed all around them.
The game never links the map to DoA, in fact it states that it appears to be a symbolic map of Tyria.
The definition of what a financial analyst calls an expansion might be very different from yours.
Not eating enough fertilizer.
BTW, did Aerin’s voice change, much like Scarlet’s? Maybe they’re possessed…or have beetle infestations.
They have the most plot lee-way with Sylvari, because they are new. So it is logical that if there is going be a Big Secret associated with some race, it will be with them.
In any case, I’m not sure the Master Of Peace is a Sylvari…
Note also the font in which ‘Dry Top’ appears, which indicates it is only a region name, not a map name.
I suspect we’ll pursue the MoP through at least one map, and possibly multiple – remember the other gates in Brisbane.
I’m terrible at jumping, and have only done a handful of the normal jumping puzzles, but still got this one done pretty easily with the nifty crystal.
Agreed, a great update with an interesting story and a great area to explore, even though I hate jumping.
Dibs on Zephyr-wroth! (and ZephyrWrath!)
“Hey guys, just popped back to drop off some llamas! Cheerio!” – Grenth
Sounds reasonable.
Some things aren’t worth fixing, as in the solution causes more problems.
If changing the way conditions work causes every class and weapon to need re-balancing, it isn’t worth doing. Suck it up, soldier.
As a side note, I think they implemented the back-end inefficiently – they should have had each new incoming condition re-weight the damage per tick and re-calc the (weighted) duration of the existing ‘stack’ on the target. (So the server tracks a single stack, not 25.)
I’d love to see Power/Precision/Toughness and Power/Ferocity/Toughness gear.
I see intrepid Asuran commando-entrepreneurs have already deployed waypoints…
You can have my bow when you pry it from my cold, dead bear.
Maguuma should have Scarabs…
But I see one more thing.
A periodic, side-character who is a total freaking kitten.
The character as masculine, macho and hardcore as possible. Free your fantasy and leave ladyboy FF-like characters behind.
Trahearne?
I would think the first thing to get fixed would have been the holes in the bridges…
The new layout of services is good, but I hope LA gets re-built as a city over the course of LS2.
Having bosses de-scale due to dead people would be potentially exploitable and/or cause unanticipated problems. (In fact I’m not sure any boss ever scales back down once it has scaled up.)
5 points for 3 good armor sets that never cost transmutation charges. AND you get to play GW1! Pretty good deal…
Best: the fact that the design of the game almost always gives players an incentive to cooperate rather than compete.
Worst: Systems/mechanics that got started and then were seemingly neglected or abandoned.
nvm, there was a recent update that did this.
They vanished because you switched weapons to underwater, which is like unequipping. I believe if your undewrwater weapon had the same sigil, they would have stayed.
Why even have ‘unique’ gear? Hardly seems game-breaking to have two identical rings just because they can have the same infusion.
The class mechanic (adrenaline) is pretty simple, in fact warriors can ignore it completely and still benefit from it if they pick the right traits.
There’s no valid archer in the game, and ANet has explicitly marketed the ranger, even in its class description, as “Unparalleled Archers.”
You can be an ‘unparalleled archer’ and still suck compared to a swordsman.
People who want a ranger+bow to match a ranger+melee will always be disappointed.
But the main issue with ranger is that the class mechanic is pets, and pets have problems.
