What’s your definition of small scale?
I disagree with sigil/rune unlocking for ascended or exotic equipment.
And I definitely disagree with sigil/rune unlocking for pve/wvw on a character or account bound basis. That will have a big negative impact on the economy.
I’m neutral with having some kind of rune/sigil unlocking system for legendary equipment. It would certainly make them more desirable and more convenient to use so if it exists I would use it. But not something I personally see the need to push for.
7 months ago would be prior to the world population calculation change.
why are people assuming that 2 separate 5-man parties can’t communicate with each other?
There’s this thing called map chat.
ty you scrub :p
I bet crafting the precursor eats almost as much gold worth in mats as a precursor currently costs.
that’s perfectly fine tbh. The main complaint about precursors is the RNG nature.
Sorry for the late reply. I am into roaming and havoc/zerg busting. Do not like blobbing. I consider a blob anything over 20 people. I play during 3pm to 8pm Australian eastern time which is 10pm to 3am PST.
if you consider 20 people a blob, then you definitely don’t want to join any of the top 4 servers. SoS has the TF blob during that time. If you prefer fighting the blob instead of joining them, then your best bet for activity is FA.
but the thing is, except for maybe Save our Supplies, the rest are not actually easier with more members because of the scaling.
Even the guild rush isn’t necessarily faster with more people. Getting 6 people to listen is a lot easier and faster than getting 20+ to listen.
As for world completion, fairly sure they mentioned there being portals in the guild hall that will transport you. But even if there isn’t, you can spend 30 mins as a guild to run to every single required WP and after doing it once, you’re done.

I can’t play until I get home, but does that shrine change now mean that shrines only gives the movement speed boost and nothing else?
Or is this specifically about removing the offense/defense bonuses, but the “no fall damage” etc stuff is still there?
guild missions do not require 20+ to do.
Bounty can be done solo, although duo is much easier
Rush can be done in time quite easily if you have at least four players(everyone would have to do multiple runs). Even three can do it if you’re careful and you know the path.
Puzzle, I believe the minimum is six because some puzzles require you to do six things at once.
For Challenge Save our Supplies can be hard, but the rest are also doable with just six people.
More people can make certain guild missions easier, but it can also make them harder because of the scaling.
the walls are apparently higher in the new borderlands map, likely because of reasons like this
Cook panel recipe search by ingredients, not only recipe name. That would not be so hard to program I bet.
Even better if you could search recipes by effects (for example, magic find).
you can already search by ingredients, just type it in
it’s because you’re running a tanky build. In large scale fights, you need some tankier builds and some glassier builds. The people with tanky builds act as bait/distraction/meat shield, while the people with glassier builds do most of the actual damage.
In smaller scale fights where you are outnumbered, you need to reduce the enemy’s numbers before they reduce yours so tanky builds are at a disadvantage. Your order of priority should be:
1. Uplevels
2. Glass enemies, usually necros and eles
3. Tanky enemies
To give you an example from a recent fight I was in. I was roaming on a full zerk necro using staff and d/f when I ran into 3 people. One was an uplevel guardian, one was a d/d ele and one was a warrior with a build I don’t recognize. I spiked and stomped the guardian first thing while completely ignoring the other two. I didn’t recognize the warrior’s build, but I knew the d/d ele is going to be a pain to fight, so I went for the warrior next. I managed to down him, then he made the mistake of using vengeance instead of healing up while the ele keeps me busy. So I kited both as best I can until the vengeance ran out and the warrior dropped dead, then I started fighting the ele. The ele had a lot of sustain because he’s a d/d ele and I had some decent sustain from death shroud and life stealing. So it was a really long battle, until eventually he made a mistake and I almost downed him, but he ran to the nearby camp and so I left since I didn’t want to fight him in the camp.
sounds like the same bug as the out of phase dolyak in wvw
1. Masteries are account bound
2. I’m fairly sure you can level them up through exp you get anywhere. You simply need to unlock them by getting mastery points in the relevant region. So I can go to HoT, unlock the track I want, then go back to WvW and level up the track while playing WvW.You seem to forget that kills offer literally the lowest exp amount that you can possibly get in game. Ressing a dead NPC gives more xp than killing a mob that just respawned, mining a mithril node gives more xp, discovering a new recipe in crafting, finding a POI, viewing a vista, all of these give more xp than killing mobs.
So sure, you can get bonus xp, but it is on the lowest source of xp in the game.
3. False. You can go from 2-80 in 6-8 hours or so using killstreak booster + other boosters you may have.
2. is wrong. You can only gain XP towards a mastery while in the region that Mastery track belongs to. It’s why noone this BWE has, for example, gain xp towards Gliding while testing out builds for fractals and Wuv.
yeah you’re right, I’m just re-reading the articles again and they auto change when you switch regions. So you have one mastery track slotted for training per region. Not one mastery track slotted for training.
chronomancer is actually pretty OP
and as stupid as the DH name is, it’s actually quite useful in practice

You already have the standard melee (warrior), ranged(ele) and gank(ranger, thief) even if that’s not how you currently play them, they can be set up to play that way. The main thing you’re missing is group utility support so get a mesmer.
pre-purchase doesn’t matter. I got an invite on two of my accounts, one pre-purchased, the other one doesn’t and most likely won;t
what server and what timezone do you play?
well, yes and no, if defending is easier then yes it would be annoying as an attacker, but at the same time that means blob groups are rewarded less. if 5 people with the right upgrades can successfully hold back a mindless blob of 40, that means the other 5 people can go and try to attack one of their objectives elsewhere.
And since guilds can only claim one objective per map, ideally you want a lot of smaller guilds to make all your structures have good passive/active upgrades on them
that would be good, but where are you getting the people from?
depends on your playstyle and timezone
fairly sure if someone logs out or alt + f4 while downed then you get the kill and the loot
ok, I think I understand now, so they trimmed the invuln area, but also trimmed the “no siege” area?
trapper rangers are really easy to kill, if you see them disappear don’t just run straight into their trap, go take a detour. As others have said, trapper rangers usually have no condi clear or stun break.
Or intentionally spring the trap to Reveal them.
that’s also an option if you have a condi clear ready and know you can survive the initial damage. Also I think dodging through it may also trigger the trap while you evade all the damage/condis
but if the invuln area has been reduced, then the remaining area are basically spots where you can’t actually hit anything even with a treb. In the first place the invuln treb spots were all at the very edge of the invuln area.
Funny how all the complaining about YB being the dominant server in T2 now is coming from the exact FA folks who once dominated T2 for the past 6-8 months… Bite down hard FA ppl. What goes around comes around.
FA’s “domination” of T2 was a situation where the tick was something like this for most of the day:
250 – FA
230 – YB
215 – SoS
with SoS sometimes dipping below 200 but never for more than 1 or 2 ticks. During that period, YB and FA would switch places throughout the day, but mostly FA ticking around the 250 mark. It wasn’t until YB decided to do a hard PPT push that the tick changed to something like this since SoS didn’t have the numbers to compete:
300 – YB
300 – FA
95 – SoS
As annoying as the situation above was it’s still preferable to the current situation where YB is so bored they use their 60 man zerg to spawn camp 5-10 people with trebs and ballistae. The tick right now for most of the day is like this:
495 – YB
100 – FA
100 – SoS

As usual, Anet is just putting band aids on a gaping wound.
It might slow things down, but the end result is the same.
The entire client needs fixing so that players cannot hack so easily!
if you know anything about software development you will know that nothing is unhackable.
so basically, people can no longer run to invuln spots and then taunt enemies who can’t do anything back? That sounds like a good thing to me.
I didn’t have the time to make screenshot, the attack was really fast, and it was only guild cata. Maybe the limit doesn’t work for guild cata. I should test, but guild cata are very expansive… And it’s not like if a dev will make some patch about that.
But yes, I confirm that the limit is fonctioning for “normal” cata, because sometimes I can’t add more in defense, too many siege error. But I have never tested with guild cata..But maybe that guild cata can be placed without any limitation.
The guild cata is very usefull when you are in small group, but with blob it’s really too power full…
the limit is there for gcatas as well. If I’m the only one throwing them down, I was never able to place more than 5 next to a wall.
But as I said, I’m fairly sure the exploit is to throw them all at the same time since the check can only look at siege that has already been placed.
Pick a date, use Glicko one last time to set the seeding order, then ash can it to the recesses of our memory. After that, 1 up 1 down to reset the next weeks matches.
Over time, the matches should come to some sort of an equilibrium where decent matches that are not stagnant can occur… If a server gains people, they will rise. If a server loses people, they will fall. Either way, they will get to matches where they can compete and have fun.
Still doesn’t address coverage etc, but it is a start……
Personally I am a fan of this as well. Winner goes up, loser goes down means that:
1. Bandwagon servers will rise up much quicker, causing less damage to the servers they pass along the way.
2. Servers that experienced an exodus will fall much quicker, causing less damage to them as well as they quickly drop to a tier that they can be competitive in.
fairly sure YB gets around this by having multiple people drop the siege at the same time. I have seen them drop 12+ gcatas along a single wall.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Nate.3927
I’ll put it in simple terms for you guys:
1. GW2 the base game will be discontinued.
2. GW2: HoT is now the new base game.
You’ve had 3 years now where you enjoyed the game. You are not being ripped off. I personally use the $1/hour rule. If for every dollar spent I’ve had more than 1 hour’s worth of enjoyment, then it’s good value for money. That is certainly the case with this game.
I recently transferred my wife back to the server where we were from and paid 1k gems, now you guys lowered it to 500, sobs. About the new changes, I hope you guys realize that you guys killed alot of lower tier server populations. Hope some changes are reconsidered.
actually, it’s livening up a lot of the lower tiers
I still see the XIII bads around, we blew some of them and Obey up the other day. Seems XIII are good at sending salty whispers and bad at doing anything else.
The main problem is probably [TF] when you have all of SoS in WvW on 1 tag in OCX it is kind of boring. Outside the weekend no server can come close to competing with the numbers so people just sit behind siege in keeps, or map to a different BL and let TF PvD.
We are willing to give 15-20 a shot with our 5man, maybe get a few bags here and there on the way out. But dat TF blob just too phatz, (i dont blame them btw, thats just how they play the game which is their right).
Leave the trash talking to the PvF forums Chorazin. In reality we wipe you guys just as often as you wipe us. It just depends who’s actually in the fight since skill wise and lag wise it varies from member to member.
Cray has real life matters to take care off so he’s been gone for I think 2 months or so.
I agree with your comments on TF, when we have 10 or less and only 2 on TS vs 40 or 50 SoS, most of which are repping TF and I assume on TS. It’s kinda hopeless.
And yes props to your group, you guys are one of the few on YB that would actually charge at superior numbers.

read his signature please people.
I thought this said “hairdressing in wvw” and was wondering why somebody put this here.
as far as hard ressing goes, I personally think it’s fine the way it is. It’s actually a good chance to bomb multiple ressers and and actually give your side the win.
it’s an exploit, but it’s not a hack.
So I did some testing today and now can confirm that if you turn into creature right at the same time as you cap objective, gives you no reward.
This is probably the same as the “walk out of the circle just as it caps” problem that gives you no reward. But it’s likely different from the “I’ve been standing in the circle the entire time and got no rewards” problem.
One thing to consider that I have tried to pay attention to is that maybe you do get the reward, it’s just that the event popup on the top right doesn’t show. Unfortunately since this doesn’t happen to me on a regular basis, it’s hard to properly pay attention to this.
It occurs to me that if FA is a test case for what the cap is then it may be set too low. How is its coverage across timezones? Looking at coverage wars may be slightly misleading due to YBs dominance.
I can’t speak for NA/EU but we get maybe 15-25 people during OCX and maybe 10-25 during SEA depending on the day of week.
“at best, premature” is referring to the fact that making judgements based on a beta is a premature act. It is not referring to HoT completion stage as “at best, a beta”
Completely different statements.
I wonder if the new calculation considers the movement of population to different servers. Like, does it immediately remove a “WvW” player from a server’s total and add it to another server’s total when that player transfers? Or is it painfully slow to adjust to population movements like Glicko is?
Many have asked if EOTM is being taken into account.
That question needs to be answered if it hasn’t been officially – because not one of us in WvW believes that EOTM is WvW in any sense of the word.
that question has already been answered in the original post by the dev. No EotM is not counted.
sounds like a bug
there are some attacks if used will prevent capture point. My suggestion is mouse over your specials and see if your using one of those attacks while trying to capture an objective.
Could you please be more vague?
What type attacks do you speak of please..
Edit: If you can pin-point down exactly what causes this behavior I am sure the devs would like to hear from you so submit a ticket so they can put in a fix asap.
I’m saying its not a bug and its working as intended and all of you should look at your utility specials and see if your trying to use one of them to capture objectives.
the skills will tell you they prevent capture point.
Example=
Guardian skill “renewed focus” prevents capture point.
you’re misunderstanding the OP. This isn’t about not contributing to the cap. It’s about contributing to the cap yet not getting any rewards.
It’s a weird bug that’s been around for a while, but it doesn’t happen consistently enough so it’s hard to work out what the exact cause is. It also only happens rarely so not a major issue tbh.
if you have one or more free character slots and you try to create a new character on one of the beta slots, it will actually use one of your regular slots instead.
for me personally if I’m in a golem I often get no reward, or if I move out of the circle just as the cap bar fills up, I get no reward.
