They need to buff dungeon rewards in general. This path can be completed in 30 minutes with a good group. That’s worth about 4 gold, not 2 gold.
Got a video of that?
The Random Story is poison.
This.
Then, the second attempt got stuck at the ooze puzzle for 50 minutes, due to a combination of not everyone not knowing what to do, the lava elementals constantly respawning, usually close enough to stack their immobilize, the fact that the oozes count as hostile, so you have to be especially careful not to hit them (also no tab targeting, since it usually targets the oozes first, hooray for more bad gimmicks), and the fact that since you need to get both in within 10 seconds of each other, meaning that even if you do well on one side, the other side can fail and render your effort utterly pointless.
I just can’t understand how they managed to make an escort part so awful, especially when most of the dynamic event escorts out in the open world are at least tolerable to do..
I want to say we fought valiantly and though it was difficult, we won the day. But we couldn’t. They were too strong to overcome, and they utilized a deadly toxin to wear us down completely. Nothing we tried worked. We had to make a retreat and return with others, by then all the defense we had previously cleared had been restored.
Fun fact: Trying to merge with another party while inside this instance can cause you to all be booted, as we found out the hard way, rendering the 53 minutes we gave on our first attempt completely pointless….
Sigh. Note to self, use the old site again. It’s still better anyway.
“They compliment each other perfectly. Just like fire needs fuel and fuel needs ignition.”
Yes. These cutscenes work. Much better than two heads on a background.
As they eventually fall, Scarlet keeps yelling more and more.
“Make me proud, my minions. Or at least make me laugh. Come on, kill something! Make it messy!
“If I have to treat you guard dogs like actual dogs, so be it: Who’s a cute little puppy? Kill, puppy, kill. Good dog!”
For a moment, Orr passes through my mind. But I brush it off. Zhaitan is long gone. Though sometimes I miss when things were that simple…
What the—!?

So the Aetherblades are further in, killing off the wildlife. Well, can’t say I cared for anything living in Twilight Arbor, but better them than these pirates.
“More mulch for the compost heap, eh? Prisoners, listen up! It’s time to make whatever spiritual mumblings you people make when death comes for you.”
Because it has. Scarlet said “Catch and burn anyone who doesn’t run fast enough.” You should’ve run faster."
Such wasted life. This is even lower than the Nightmare Court. This doesn’t even have a point…
Ugh..having to lure oozes was so icky.
Well, so much for surprise. Well, can’t let that stop us. Still, I’ve yet to see any Aetherblades, just some of the same creatures I fought before the last time I was in Twilight Arbor.
While the others and I went through the main path, Caithe took her own path, higher up. I wanted to be with her instead, but I’d probably just slow her down.
“We don’t know Scarlet’s defense system, but she doesn’t know we’re here. Maybe we can surprise her for a change.”
A minute or two later…
Secrets about Caithe…this feels like Faolain. If she’s working with Scarlet now, this could become big trouble for the Grove too. But I don’t say anything to Caithe about it..she doesn’t like it when Faolain is mentioned. Besides, she’s probably thinking the same thing herself. Once more into the darkness we go..
“I respect the Lionguard, but I have my own agenda. Luckily, with you here we can all get what we want.”
“I met Scarlet in the Grove, before she went on her academic pilgrimage. I was not overly impressed.”
“Now she’s sent me a direct challenge. She claims to know things…things I wouldn’t want the world to know.”
I don’t care about the Lionguard. I’m here for you. ^^ I’m not going to let Scarlet mess with you.
Is she supposed to be in water, or is she pulling off an invisibility cloak in that picture? Eh, still nice artwork, even if she does look a bit scary.. >.>
Oooh, a letter from Caithe?
…Scarlet… >:(
I don’t really feel like dealing with her again, but I’m not letting her get away with messing with Caithe. She’s not just egging Caithe on, she’s egging me on too..
People who want to just experience the story need not apply. If you’re not good enough, too bad.
It was advertised as a hard dungeon path, not storytime.
If you only care about the story, go watch it on Youtube.
Source for the “advertised as hard” bit please.
Thanks for rubbing salt in the wound. Sorry I suck too much. This is yet another turn-off to the Random Story. I shouldn’t even try to keep track of it anymore, should I?

People who want to just experience the story need not apply. If you’re not good enough, too bad.
With few small preparations at start you can make sure you have a decent group: put an AP restriction, ask ppl for their overall build orientation and gear, kick those who don’t fit the profile (make sure you got 1-2 soldiers who are sturdy enough, few condition removals and max 1 condition build..oh and NO RANGERS :P ).
Good pugs start with a good party leader (unfortunately sometime that means you have to be an @ssh@le, and set some rules that exclude certain players).
I don’t like doing any of that. That’s another reason to not like this path..it brings out the worst in all of us. We have to be utter jerks when it comes to all these little things.
It’s not fun..
Does it have a range so you can get away from it at least? Seems to hit everywhere.
The difference is that you don’t really need to do the Arah explorable for any significant story (besides learning how Glint got free will). This is part of the Living Story, and I’d want to see the story myself. Time to watch a video instead, because I fail too much.
It’ll solve nothing. I was party leader, and all that changes is that people will just leave on their own when they rage quit, meaning you need to stop to find others. In addition to that, when I tried merging our party of 4 with a party of one, we ended up being booted out anyways, despite no one leaving at that time. On top of that, it seems that the level of coordination required for this path is utterly PUG-unfriendly.
Best dungeon yet, with the best fight since lupi. You’re just too lazy to learn it.
New reply, since the previous one got infracted by a nameless moderator.
Apparently I’m just not good enough, and never will be. Fine. I suck. How dare I criticize anything? Even though I can handle any other dungeon besides Arah as long as the group knows what they’re doing, I just suck. Happy now, nameless moderator?
I just wanted to be able to enjoy the story and help Caithe out, and hopefully kill Scarlet this time. But since I suck too much, I’ll just watch a video, hope Caithe doesn’t get turned evil (because that’s the only way left that the dungeon would infuriate me any further), and stick to the Crucible of Eternity. I don’t care for the skins from Citadel of Flame.
I feel your pain. Even as a “good” profession, I couldn’t do it. It’s probably 3 times worse on rangers.
While they’re at it, they should also implement a “Troll Here” topic where you can post instead.
Eh, I found the dungeon pretty fun. The mechanics weren’t horribly difficult to figure out if you just the descriptions of the mobs.
Funny that. Never on Sparki and Slick did it say “Make sure to kite the oozes into the oil and don’t kill them, or poison fumes kill you no matter where you are”.
I would say best dungeon in a while. Harder content is what we’ve been asking for. How do you think every other dungeon was figured out? By trial and error.
Who’s this “we” you’re referring to? I don’t recall asking for harder content, nor did some of the other posters I’ve been seeing here.
There’s a trend with Guild Wars 2 players that they just want stuff handed to them then complain when they can’t beat it on their first attempt. Reading guides or watching videos takes a lot away from learning how to do stuff on your own.
No, I want content that’s actually FUN to do. Wasting time kiting oozes to a bunch of gears while fending off a horde of Lava Elementals while also not letting the oozes hit you (or you’re down in 2 hits) is not fun.
Neither is a duo of bosses whose only real hard part is having toxic fumes do all the work for them and have ridiculous amounts of health.
At this rate, I’ll have to read a guide or watch a video to see if it’s even worth it, since trying to do it blind and “experience” the content has led to 4 hours being wasted seeing many people come and then leave soon after, and having my will to play be trampled over and over.
I mainly wanted to just help Caithe hopefully kill Scarlet this time, but thanks to another dungeon path with awful gimmicks, I won’t even get to see that myself.
Worst dungeon yet. Worst fight since Frizz. They’ve learned nothing.
(edited by Nilkemia.8507)
And when bosses are hard because of bad gimmicks requiring everyone to die die die die die over and over and over in an infuriating process of trial and error to figure out what to even do first, or read up a guide/watch a video before going in and hoping you do as well. Worst dungeon since the Aetherblade Retreat.
The topic poster is right. Worst fight since Frizz…I’ll just have to watch a video at this rate. More bad gimmicks, more constantly dying trial and error until everyone figures it out, and even then if one thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong. What a waste of time.
Sigh…more bad gimmicks reign supreme again.
Very good idea. Sadly, it would probably be deemed too convenient to have.
They wouldn’t want to lose any potential money from those Hair/Total Makeover Kits, after all…
Worst encounter I’ve seen since Frizz. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually miss the old F/U path…even though I almost never ran it.
Here’s a thought: Just give us the ability to reset traits whenever we’re outside of combat, like PvP does. This has to be the worst thing I’ve seen in the Gem Store since the Royal Pass and Infinite Continue Coin.
Here’s a thought, just give us the ability to reset our traits outside of combat just like in PVP, instead of making a Gem Store item for it. This has to be the dumbest thing I’ve seen in the Gem Store barring only the Royal Pass and Infinite Continue Coin.
Another overly annoying, too-many-mechanics dungeon. The kind you do once and never do again. Usually the hard content is enjoyable once but this wasn’t even enjoyable.
Not fun!
Quoted for truth. By the way, I had to give up because everyone kept leaving and I have to do my dailies.
Well, got past that, at the cost of much of my patience and will to play the game. We handle some more trash, watch some Nightmare pups run away, kill two pirates in a pool, and then…the worst encounter I’ve ever taken part in since Frizz. Still stuck here right now….just great. More trial and error of dying over and over to figure out the gimmicks. This is why dungeons are no fun.
(edited by Nilkemia.8507)
So far, the place looks pretty, but once again, just more of the same annoyances. The first group got to the duo bosses and kept dying to fumes that are everywhere. One person leaves, and when we try to get another person through the LFG tool, we all get booted. Well done, game.
Now, the second group I’m in, we’re stuck on the ooze part. I’ve never seen a mechanic so blantatly designed to waste people’s time since the hacking section in COE Path 1. We’ve been stuck here for about an hour. It’s not fun or hard in a good way, just supremely annoying.
Err, sorry for putting the posts like that, I’m not sure if there’s a way to put the pictures between the text in one post. :/
And a twist..
You learn that your krewe leader sold you you out, and got your krewemate kidnapped. You can go after the traitor, and he reveals that he already had the krewemate murdered, failing to realize that he’s within earshot of the Council, and that he’s about to get exterminated himself.
Since they probably wouldn’t play any later roles in the Personal Story, it just feels more fitting to have them both die, leaving me as the sole Snaff Savant. Just as planned…
While Teyo is pretty much a petty jerk, standard Inquest fare, she’s still a more entertaining villain than a certain weed I shall not name.
(edited by Nilkemia.8507)
Synergetics all the way for me.
For one thing, since Teyo is once again antagonizing you in this one, it continues nicely from the beginning quest with you helping Zojja stop her the first time around.
(edited by Nilkemia.8507)
Why were you even doing it on Tribulation mode then? I’m under the impression that the mode is designed with peoples’ suffering in mind.
So, does he just vanish or just stand there and do nothing after?
Yeah.. :/
Would’ve been a neat thing though, since unlike when Fyonna and Vevina are betrayed, you’re pretty close when Vevina decides to finish him. The other two you just watch from a good distance.
Oh well, we’ll never know. Not tomorrow anyway.
I’m just glad we sylvari got new hairstyles at all, we’re really lacking compared to the other races. (except asura, who are also pretty limited in hair right now)
Ooooh, neat new hair styles. I like.
Right before the fight, she’s got Laurent at her mercy, but he still has a bit of fight left, and even when the fight starts, he still counts as a friendly while attacking her. (green name, doesn’t go red)
So…has anyone managed to “save” him by healing him up and/or killing Vevina before she can kill him? I tried once with the guardian support tome, but I messed up.
I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be intended to happen, but it’d be neat if there was a different cutscene/dialog from him if he survives that fight.
