In GW1 we were able to report people who just stood around in the spawn area but were clearly present and not just late are loading the screen.
Yesterday, I twice had people standing in the spawn area calling everyone pve noobs but I couldn’t work out which complaint to use to report them for leeching… I didn’t care about the name calling… one of the people in question ventured outside the spawn area and died in their first 1v1 encounter and that is why they refused to leave a second time… I thought it was actually amusing that they call me a pve noob while refusing to fight anyone because they died.

completely agree with this thread… spvp is anything but pvp… you get more points awarded for capping shrines than killing players = avoid fights and keep capping. If I want my team to win, then I take lots of invisibility and avoid fighting anyone that is not on a shrine… wtf? Is this pvp?
They took the worst pvp game in GW1 – and made it the no.1 pvp game in GW2… seriously?
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
Anet got tired of people ganking their invincible warriors underwater so they removed it because they knew people would complain even more if they buffed warriors any more.
I agree with the original post… I love underwater combat and would like to see restored properly. Just because some people can’t get their head around 3D pvp fighting should not mean that we should lose it. Especially as this was one the main selling points of GW2 when it was launched. Also, all classes are quite balanced now underwater… the days of mesmers ganking everyone are long gone.
I would like to see 3 different borderlands… Green (because it is the no.1 ranked server) should be as it is – standard borderland, Blue (because it is mid ranked) should be underwater… the game play is slightly more difficult than the current borderland but not overly difficult once people get used to the dynamics better, Red (because lowest rank) should be in the air… similar to eotm but a different map that is more suited to competitive wvw action – a few easily defended choke points that give red a slight advantage but not too many to make it a joke… more like small plain areas near keeps and supply camps that have edges where people can fall off but are large enough for battles… then multiple choke points leading to the plain areas so that it is difficult to defend every single choke point but not impossible if you are fast enough and have the numbers. It would take a bit of thought to get the right balance.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
I agree with OP… I would like to be able to use my dye as camouflage but there is no point if you got a big red sign above your head.
I also disagree strongly with Marauder… I solo roam quite a bit and can cap a camp in under 4mins… one night last week, I was the only player on SFR for 2 hours preventing Deso from ticking 100% – done by jumping borderlands and capping random camps. There are often times I am the only person capping camps. I also give scout reports, kill other roamers I see capping camps, take out strays on zerg tails, hide inside keeps that are about to be taken and provide portals for quick retakes etc. etc. I play an important role for my server.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
my favourite moments have been and always will be… big garrison fights that last hours. Sadly, you don’t see many of these anymore.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
lol the arrowcart-PVPers make qq cause alooooot more people play eotm than wvw
man – wake up – you and people like you made wvw a boring place and people dont wanna play it like this anymore
defending kills the fun – just fight when meet each other in open field^^
Don’t talk wet… eotm at the moment is one big pvd karma train that avoids fights and if they see an ac they run away. Adding a little defense and making teams work for taking a structure instead of just banging on an undefended door… will add fun to the map. You will get those willing to try and take the structure with other siege like the game is intended and you will get some who will avoid anything too difficult and go and blob fight in the open field.
The only real pvp in this game is by solo and small group roamers on the borderlands.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
My idea is you get one extra point for each structure you hold on a tick that counts every 10 minutes….
so for example… you get 1 point for taking a structure… you get 2 points every 10 minutes for holding a structure.
Which ever team has the most points after 3 hours… each player who has been in the matchup for 1 hour or more wins a bolt of damask. This can be monitored by adding a resettable achievement that gives you one tick every hour. You get a bolt of damask if your team wins and you have a tick. You could offer lesser rewards if you have 2 ticks or 3 ticks.
It would not be as difficult as you think to implement. It is basically taking the same model of wvw and applying the point structure with a slight modification to eotm.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
Any plans to introduce this as a limited skin on the gem store?
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
I agree. CM tags should be account bound and paid for by BoH not gold.
I would like to see scout tags too so that a commander and other players can check to make sure everywhere has a scout.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
The eotm map is actually a great map to play but it has been hijacked by the pve/pvd karma train. People complain when they meet a proper fight or a defended objective… I have actually seen commanders refuse to engage a defended place and turn away from fights.
Any case, anyone with a bit of pvp spirit complains about the way the game is played on eotm. So how do we solve this mess?
It is actually quite easy…. think why does this not happen so much on borderlands? The borderland maps are designed better than eotm and ebg for this kind of behaviour. I think the solution is that you need to make eotm more rewarding for defense.
To do this you need to make the points count for something…. that way it becomes beneficial to defend.
so my solution is to give a prize for the side that scores the most points but the prize needs to be worth more than what can be gained from pvd farming. This needs careful thought because you need to balance the reward from capturing something with the reward from gaining the most points by defending your assets… we don’t want to turn things into a turtle game – a balance must be struck.
My idea off the top of my head would be for the winning team to receive a single bolt of damask. It is not too much of a prize but it is something worth fighting for.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
As good as it might sound, i think i would be more fighting against the camera than other servers…
yeah, that’s what i feared as well, that and you’d see mesmers and thieves blinking and and down houses and balconies haha
That’s what would make it really good fun.
Ages ago I asked for a sky map and we got eotm which didn’t work out how I envisaged it because of the players karma farming. I have a solution which I will post in its own thread. BUT, the other map I asked for was an underwater map.
Would be nice to see 3 borders… one city (green)… one sky (blue)… one underwater (red).

I’m trying to keep up and look into the best wvw guilds on each server, which are TC’s?
TC does not have guilds that can compete with the ones I previously listed that are currently on T2 servers
I don’t play on US servers any more… but I find that difficult to believe. The skill level between t1 and t2 is immense on EU servers… a lot of guilds who used to be t1 have gone soft with easy kills. If they were better in t2 then they would not be in t2 for long because the server would rise up the ranks into t1.
I doubt the US is any different
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
I play mesmer… before the April patch, I could take a camp in under 5 minutes… after the patch, I needed to make some changes to my weapon sigils and traits to keep my build viable and it now takes me about 7-8 minutes to solo a camp with my roaming build… but if I switch a couple of the optional skills with feedback and my elite to some sort of summon… I can take the camp in under 4 minutes. It all depends if I take everyone on at once, or if I pick them off one by one or two by two. But if I switch my skills it makes me vulnerable if anyone comes to contest the camp. The scouts are the only thing that causes a slight problem (in delay)… once the scouts are dead everything else is very quick and easy.
As for the mesmer being vulnerable to thieves… best way to kill a thief is magic bullet and the only vulnerability is making sure it hits without it being dodged and surviving the recharge time if it does miss – which is not that difficult for at least one more shot.
By far the most difficult class to fight is a warrior. It just takes so long to kill them and you often run out of skills to press because everything is on recharge.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
well you could join in the fun a bit with a song of your own… need some help?
Try something about BB and SFR with Cher’s I got you Bay (babe)
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
I solo roam with a mesmer… what I run is not the normal meta which makes it fun. I also avoid using boosts like food etc. adds more challenge.
For my build the key is in and out… attack heavy damage – pull away – switch weapons to range – switch back – jump in heavy damage – pull away.
My biggest problem by far is skill failure… I have a 25%-30% chance that a skill will fail.
My second problem is cool down time. There are times when I literally have nothing left on my skill bar to press because it is all on recharge and I am waiting before I can swap weapons – that tends to be the time where there is a 70% chance I am going to die – so I start hitting wildlife to increase my chance of a rally.
But the most frustrating thing is skill failure… drives me nuts when you pressing the same skill and nothing is happening or it goes straight into recharge without actually executing anything. Nothing worse than dieing to someone who has less skill than you because of bugs.
But I digressed… what I wanted to say was… just because you play a mesmer or thief does not mean you have to play the meta… you can play around with other builds and find something that is fun to play.

SF Pirates came across the sea
They brought Deso pain and misery
They killed their guilds, and killed their creed
They took the game for their own need
They fought Deso hard, they fought them well
Out in the borders, they gave them hell
Deso tried to blob but it was their worst fears
Oh will Deso ever be over their tears.
Paranoia of alliances and the stab in the back
Build more arrow carts before SFR attack
Run to the hills, run for your lives
Run to the hills, run for your lives
Soldier of Green in the border lands
Capping and killing, stay ahead
Wiping their zergs and stomping the roamers
The only good Deso are dead
Selling them tears and taking Deso bags
Taking their keeps despite blobbing lag
Run to the hills, run for your lives
Run to the hills, run for your lives
Run to the hills, run for your lives
Run to the hills, run for your lives
Run to the hills, run for your lives

I don’t care about the rewards… I care about server pride… and I never run from a fight even when I know I will lose because of numbers. A fight is a fight no matter how long it lasts and if I can get one or two down before I am mobbed then great… it doesn’t cost to repair my armor anymore.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
I thought this was the wvw section not pve
badges should be spent on siege and either used or given to a commander or scout to use
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
About 4 months after launch, I left NA IoJ server for EU SFR because my ping in wvw was dreadful. So it cuts both ways… NA get poor ping on EU… but EU get a poor ping in NA too.
Also the most skilled players in the game are not people who guild raid… they are the solo roamers. People like Wing from Kodash (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMzejeULiEXQGH3xQTDrGXg) or Laela where ever he may be now (https://www.youtube.com/user/OroNeyishi/videos)
Also gvg and wvw are two completely different things. RG were untouchable at gvg – but wvw? They sucked, they were a joke when they played on SFR. When they were not doing gvg, they were noted for leeching. Never once saw them take an objective on their own or initiate an attack.
So absolutely no point in talking about wvw and gvg in the same thread… completely different.

We are also looking for a stable guild from North America that can provide the base from which us EU night owls can work with.

The Tide is turning on the pirates! Come plunder their loot with us
LMAO…. there are hardly any pirates in wvw at the moment we are taking a Seafarer’s REST after winning the tournament… we are just pottering about in small roaming groups looking for small fights and not bothering with defensive stuff. This week you will be lucky to see a zerg of more than 10ppl outside of prime time.
I was solo roaming the last two days and I’ve already lost count of the number of deso I stomped. And although I was purposely trying to avoid fights with RS… I stomped quite a lot of them too who didn’t take the hint that I was only interested in fighting Deso.

No you just need to organise your server better… not to mention the use of Teamspeak
Team chat for Commanders and scouts
Map chat for other game related information
Say chat for general chit chat
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
not sure who is best at gvg atm… I rate SLAY as currently one of the best wvw guilds… they have strong raids, they are good at taking objectives, they are good at defending objectives and outside of their guild raiding time they do all the boring jobs people like to shirk such as scouting, escorting dollies, etc. etc. They also do their fair share of open raiding too which are always very popular.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
I usually get spikes, white helmets/swords and heavy material bags from player kills. I get greens and blues from npc kills. For me it is incredibly rare to get anything other than junk or materials from killing players.

The theme tune of EU season 2:
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
Like other posters I claim with 4 different guilds… I am a leader in 3 guilds and an officer in another… 2 of those guilds are server admin guilds, 1 guild is just a list of friends from GW1 who play under a different tag on TC… and then SPoT is open for recruitment but is essentially just me still.
However, the dynamics of SFR are like one single giant guild with Kresh as leader and commanders and guild leaders as officers. We have at least 3 server admin guilds to help with that organisation.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
That last suggestion is a very good idea… it would then open up gvg between servers that are not in the same match up.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
Deso need to forget SFR and focus BB or they have a good chance of coming last this week. BB look the more likely to take 2nd at the moment.
SFR at the moment are just defending what we have. As long as we are ticking above 200 we are not a threat to either Deso or BB… the problem will be the same as last time… an attack on our garrison again will wake us up and whoever did it will come last because we will shift all our focus against them.
Leave our border alone and our side of the ebg alone and we will be content to let Deso and BB battle it out for 2nd place. Poke the tiger and we will awake.

will this see Australians move to the China server once the ques settle down? Closer time zone for them than America? What about Asiatic Russians? Vladivostok? And if they do switch for better primetime coverage… what kind of impact will that have on the servers that rely on these people for night coverage?
Will the China servers have other language servers like in Europe (English, German, French, Spanish)? So English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Russian? Or will the differences in writing be too problematic? It would be a good opportunity for Anet to expand the coverage rather than just China.

Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
Some servers manage quite well with poor coverage. It is what you do with the people that you have that matters. So stop crying and get yourselves organised.
In the past SFR were no.1 as a medium populated server and was outnumbered on all but 2 maps. It still runs a lot of the time outnumbered and it is still no.1. Look at BB… they only have good coverage for a couple of hours per day and they have a good chance to win 2nd position in the tournament.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
SFR proves the original argument wrong… no.1 EU server… got to that position with a medium populated server which was messed up by the first tournament and free transfers. As for coverage… while there is 24/7 coverage on the server, a lot of the time most bl are outnumbered for long periods…. it is not so much coverage in terms of population but knowing how to make the most of the people you have at any one time…. which in a way is related to skill.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
In terms of spvp most classes are balanced… there are still problems with a few mesmer skills. But you will always get warriors crying over being beaten because they are all but invincible in wvw.
In terms of wvw the mesmer is seriously broken. Skill failure is the biggest cause of me losing roaming small group fights. In terms of zerg the mesmer has literally become the Sacrx definition – null field and veil… to which I will add feedback to kill omega golems.
Even portal can now be done better by a necro exploit that does not seem to be against the rules of the game.
The new skill changes have made mesmers more survivable but they rely on team members to kill foes for a large part of that survivability because the damage output of a mesmer is so poor.
It is difficult to say what needs fixing because it is difficult to see what kind of damage is actually being done by conditions and retaliation. But my impression is that there is still not enough damage output to make the mesmer viable for wvw. Everything can be done better by other classes.
I would like to see Anet take some time to play the mesmer outside of spvp and see for themselves what needs to be fixed because at the moment there is an awful lot not working – skills, traits, and game play in general. Even the elite skill of changing people into a moa now has more chance of killing the mesmer than it has the foe. It would be useful for the Anet team to see the mesmer in GW1 in action and then look at how that can be replicated in GW2.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
As if it was not bad enough that they buffed the moa skills to make it easier to be killed by your own elite skill….
Now we have to put up with our own weapon skills killing us too.

Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
I disagree with the original post. On common issues that are (for whatever reason) in breach of the rules such as hacking and exploits… the community is as a whole united in stopping these and I would dare say they are united against the moderators for deleting such posts. Other topics about suggestions for game improvement are sensible debates.
The only toxic element is server vs server… but surely that just demonstrates how much passion wvw provides over other aspects of the game. Having server pride and making a troll dig at the other server shows that people are taking the game seriously and with passion that you never see in pve (PvE is just a game… wvw is server and guild pride). Surely, that has to be a wake up call to the devs that this aspect of the game is where the future of GW2 should lie. They get bombarded with questions etc. because people are most passion about wvw than any other aspect of the game.
So in wvw the toxic element is a positive element rather than a negative element. If you want to see a toxic element then go and look at the profession sections. There is no rivalry to be had in these threads and yet build suggestions and attempts at discussing builds generates unwarranted trolling. At least in wvw there is server pride and an excuse for toxic elements.
So… to summarise… I think the toxic element of wvw demonstrates a level of passion for that element of the game that does not exist elsewhere in the game… so the devs should be paying more attention to wvw because that is the best part of the game but the most neglected.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
More serious note: If you sorely lack players, please start your own recruitment thread, unless you want to be infracted on these posts.
Oh is this not a SFR recruitment thread? I thought the sound of drinking rum and singing while taking supply camps was enough to get everyone enlisted on board the good ship jolly rogered.

I hope they don’t touch the rewards in eotm… I rely on going there for 3 hours to refresh my badges to buy siege.
If you want something to do with your badges then don’t be so selfish… give something back to your server – buy siege, turn it into superior and send it to a commander on the map who will put it to good use.
I go through 1,000 badges per day and that is not including any golems.
There is more to buy with badges than the number that drop. I never get enough badges in wvw… I have to play eotm for a couple of hours a day just to get enough badges to seige garrison.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
I am so glad you made this thread… I am unable to start new threads and have been wanting to ask one of those questions for ages now…
CAN WE PLEASE HAVE A INTER-CONTINENTAL MATCH UP – EU v US v China
I want to see the no.1 EU server vs the no.1 US server vs the no.1 Chinese server.
A winners of tournament season 3 fighting it out to find out who is no.1 server in the world for wvw.
No need for prizes… bragging rights will be enough. Perhaps stick a statue somewhere in the game declaring the winning server the best in the world for that season or a special finisher for those who took part from the start (so no bandwagoners) of the tournament until the ‘world cup’ match up
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
buy siege and send it to me I can always put it to good use… I can spend 1,000 badges in a day.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
I consider myself an all round player… I do what needs to be done for the server to win… so sometimes I am spending 6 hours scouting and refreshing siege… sometimes it is soloing a few camps and ruin shrines…. other times it is roaming and following the enemy zerg giving reports…. sometimes it is hiding inside a keep for a few hours then portal a group inside for a fast cap… other times it is running with the zerg… sometimes it is pvd karma train… then I might decide to walk dollys or siege up a camp and defend it for a couple of hours.
I play for the server… I play for the point tick… I am willing to spend time defending or attacking… makes no difference to me. BUT… the thing I like the best… more than anything else in the game… is a good garrison fight that lasts hours and involves more and more people. I don’t mind if it is attack or defense – I like doing both. Something about garrison that makes for some really good intense fights and gets the passion going of all sides involved.

I don’t use buffs unless I face a worthy opponent who is using buffs. I get more pleasure out of beating people using buffs without using a single one myself.
If I get beat in a 1v1 fight with someone who is buffed up then I will rematch using some buffs of my own… but 9/10 times I win most of my 1v1 fights without using buffs.
If I am running with a zerg though and the commander puts down some food I will take some but if I am just map roaming then I don’t use buffs.

The biggest problem with badges of honor is that karma trains get loads of them and defenders/scouts get almost zero.
YET, it is defenders and scouts that use badges of honor for buying siege while karma train-type people tend not to be interested in defending towers etc.
Acid Bath Babies Go Plop Plop [FizZ]
SFR is the only server that provides 24/7 wvw coverage. There are not that many blobs unless you can call 30 ppl a blob. There is actually quite a lot of roaming. Every aspect of the game from scouting and siege to solo/small group roaming to zergs and karma trains is covered. Ques… there is always a que for ebg but for borderlands there is only a small que at primetime 7-11pm GMT – this can vary from 10ppl to 1 person que depending on border and what events are happening.
The server like all servers has its problems but despite these, it remains the best organised server for wvw in the game. The entire server is wvw focused. Accusations of blobbing are probably referring to ebg only.
My experience of silver league is that there are a lot of very good guilds and lots of guild raids… but they very rarely work together to achieve anything. There are also a lot of arguments in team chat. Lots of players who think they know what they are doing but actually very few players who know how to play wvw. While the level of guild raids is very high, the level of skill of individual players is quite poor. While briefly on FSP I all but wiped out a 16 person zerg on my own – the tail was so bad, that I just followed behind them picking them off one by one until there were only 6 of them left. Another time, 2 of us took out a 20 person zerg. And another time, I killed the commander of a zerg and the entire zerg ran away and jumped back to spawn.
Bronze league… there are some awesome small scale fights to be had here. You can really improve your individual game by spending a couple of months in the lower servers. The biggest problem is that there is a lack of coverage… the imbalance of the bronze league is very problematic. Some matchups you will be lucky to do anything other than pvd during your game time. Other matchups and you are fighting a blob during your game time. That said, the people in the lower servers do tend to work together a lot better than the silver league… there are less egos and more co-operation in achieving objectives.
