I bought quite a few on halloween and I’ll never spend that kind of money again. I bought one for wintersday with the leftover gems just for fun but that’s all I’m doing. It’s a big waste of money.
I don’t know. This is by far the best online gaming community I’ve been a part of. Our map chat almost always has people chatting and I frequently hear people asking for help and others coming to their aid.
I don’t do dungeons but the only rotten eggs I’ve run into are in Lion’s Arch and that hasn’t happened in a while. I guess it’s just dungeons like other people said? I’m kind of dreading having to do that for my story now…
Definitely yes on those points of Sylvari and Charr wanting to show off there patterns. It’s really annoying to make a character with a Sylvari with an awesome glow or Charr with a cool fur pattern and have it be covered by armour.
I can’t find any cool medium armour to show off my male sylvari’s glow. I did go with the pit fighter (like someone mentioned) for my Charr to be able to see his cool fur pattern.
We do need good options both ways though. Like many others I don’t want to see this turn into Tera. If someone wants skimpy clothes let them have skimpy. If someone doesn’t want skimpy they should have good options too. I couldn’t even play a female character in Tera because there were NO options that didn’t look ridiculous.
I agree. As long as there’s enough options for both. I’m female and I hate running around with a character whose breasts are falling out of their armour. I don’t care if someone else wants it though :P I’ve played too many mmos where that was the only option for a female character though and I’d hate for THAT to happen.
I say more skimpy male armour. There’s definitely not enough of that. There’s only two that I can think of that show some chest.
I have the same experience at Mirta actually. It’s kind of funny really. I’ll be going around an area and see a few people running around most times. But when I run into an event everyone comes out of the wood work. It’s like a group of ants finding candy.
Map chat has a good number of people talking and asking about what events are up.
I was playing in the Iron Marches and the Blazeridge Steppes zones and saw a lot of people running around, not just at events. I wasn’t expecting to see anyone in these higher level zones (never been there before) since people kept saying they’re dead.
My guess is it’s your server. Mine’s definitely not dead.
Selling the unidentified right now is about 11 silver and climbing last I checked. Most common and uncommon dyes seem to go for a few copper(which is what you get most often). I’d sell the unidentified.
I guess it’s kind of a grey area. You have played it for a while, but it’s an mmo. It’s a bit different from a single player style game. You buy it for the long run. You expect to be playing for a while. I think it does deserve a longer refund time but 6 months is a bit silly. Again though, if it changes from what you thought where do you draw the line? I mean what if these changes occurred 2 years down the line?
What I used to do in GW2:
- Enjoy the content
- Explore the world
- Make friends
- Participate in dynamic events
- Level my charactersWhat I do now in GW2:
- Enjoy the content
- Explore the world
- Make friends
- Participate in dynamic events
- Level my charactersHmmm….seems like nothing has changed for me.
This is me exactly! Except dynamic events would be a couple higher. I love those things.
If relogging didn’t work, you wouldn’t happen to be trying to mail it directly from the bank would you? You have to mail from your inventory.
I pretty much do the same as the OP. I just like exploring and doing map completion mainly. I dabble in crafting a bit too. I have a ton of materials after completing maps so I just throw it all into crafting. I don’t buy mats unless I’m trying to make something specific. Just hanging around and having fun mostly.
I actually just discovered dailies so I’m having fun doing those now too.
I’m currently on Northern Shiverpeaks and I’m pretty amazed about the community. I guess I never noticed the crazy alliance business so I can’t comment on that. I can say that being a relatively dumb mmo player, most questions I have are answered pretty quickly on map chat and if I’m downed people come to my aid pretty quickly.
I guess I come from a pretty jaded/selfish mmo but I can’t believe the how cool the people here are. There’s fun conversations going on in the map chats and people just have a good time. The only place where I’ve encountered rude people hanging around is Lion’s Arch. Seems like not a good neighborhood.
It does seem to have a pretty high population. Even when running early zones there are people around. The only exception I’ve seen is when playing early in the morning Eastern time. It’s fairly dead in the plains of ashford but I do see oh maybe about 3 to four people doing events then.
Fun if you got a precurser, grind if you didn’t
That’s really not true and it’s an unfair judgement on the players. I didn’t get whatever the heck a precursor is and I thought the event was fun overall.
Again, a very simple solution:
Adjust the chest so that it can only be opened ONCE PER ACCOUNT, and reactivate the event for another 24 hours or so.
This solution will satisfy many of us and afford us the opportunity to experience the event/content and get a chance to roll dice on the big chest at the end.
Give us an opportunity, that’s all we’re asking.
If they did that though, very few people would be willing to help out those who are doing it for the first time. I can’t imagine anyone would want to do it for no reward. I’d be afraid some people would be stuck in an overflow where not many people were doing it.
All in all, I like the strides you’ve taken to toughen up the karka. The multiple health is great, and being stomped on, or rolled over can be avoided, and feels like it should knock you down.
I thought it was great being rolled over by them. It was pretty funny. When it happened the first time and just about the entire group lay dead in the wake my jaw hit the floor. Nice attack.
I do think it would have been nice to be able to tell that they had armor on instead of just looking like they healed.
I thought it was fun doing the other wacky things to kill him. It was fun when the objects changed. The only thing I didn’t like was reinforcement waves. They took way too long. I liked it when the object kept us moving around not just fighting the same guys for an hour.
Everyone in Lion’s Arch caught crabs at the same time (though you’d figure aphids would be a bigger problem for the Sylvari). The public health implications are going to be huge and far-reaching. There will probably be informational pamphlets being handed out all over the place.
Yeah, when you donate enough to Lionguard Lyns she gives out the pamphlet.
Well a kraka did run off with the lighthouse.
I got the feeling that the charr don’t care one way or another. They seem like you pair off with whoever you want whenever you want for whatever reason. You can have a mate to breed with but it doesn’t seem like you have to stick around. The majority give the cub up not too long after it’s born anyway.
They don’t seem to have to stay with a family group considering your warband is your family, but it seems that some charr choose to stay with a family group. Like that female(it is a female actually) talking to her cub about the father being gone. That cub looks old enough be in the fahrar but he’s still with his mom.
I think there’s another charr in a human town talking about starting a fahrar with some neighborhood kids so his cub doesn’t have to go away. Sorry I can’t remember the convo exactly.
The problem is then you’ll have all the people who spent almost three hellish hours on this event unhappy because their rewards got taken away.
Then it shouldn’t bother you. Seriously. It’s a game.
If it’s not fun don’t play it. If you don’t like the one time events, don’t play the game. Find something you like that does everything you want. Why play something you’re just annoyed at that just keeps annoying you?
The only people saying this are the ones who got the obscenely expensive loot
And yes if this isn’t fixed i’m pretty friggin done with this game
Been playing since the first one and i liked leveling from 1-80, but the endgame content and balance is so much worse it feels like it was made by a completely different company
I got 20 silver worth of exotics and the bag. I just know it’s a game and don’t worry about it. It’s not my life.
I agree with OP. You can’t even get the karka shell earring anymore. Sorry I’m not a NEET, Anet. One time events are for the NEET crowd.
Then it shouldn’t bother you. Seriously. It’s a game.
If it’s not fun don’t play it. If you don’t like the one time events, don’t play the game. Find something you like that does everything you want. Why play something you’re just annoyed at that just keeps annoying you?
They’re account bound. You can’t sell them anyway.
I just wish people would stop with saying everyone who was able to loot the chest got minimum 30 gold worth of stuff or more… I sure didn’t. I got the 20 slot bag, the accessory that will wait another 35 levels for me to be able to use it, and a couple of yellow items that aren’t even as good as the masterwork armour I already use….
Yep. People, those things were not guaranteed. Few people got them. No one in my group got anything good except the bag. Definitely not a reason to not do one time events.
I got some exotics totaling (TP prices people)… 20 silver :P
Wow! You people who dced should be so jealous.
Okay, sure, but why on -earth- should those one-time events have guaranteed rewards worth ~30 gold and possible rewards worth up to 200 :T
You guys are blowing those rewards way out of proportion. Very few people got those rewards. No one in my group got anything worth more than 20 silver. They were definitely not guaranteed.
That event should have had them guaranteed though. It took way too long. I find it hilarious people are complaining they missed it. The people who did the event are complaining they were in it.
I like that idea BatteryBiscuits. The only trouble would be find enough people to go back and do it. We had too few people to begin with.
It took about 2.5 hours to complete the event.
It needed those drops.
Amen to that. I still think we deserved more, lol. I nearly gave up. If there had been one more reinforcement wave I’d have been out of there.
I think it’s just hard for gamers to accept one time events. Gamers are used to the world being created for them and them alone. They expect to be able to get everything and be special. That’s how we were conditioned. We want the game to revolve around us. If we can’t participate we don’t like it.
It’s a living world and you can’t do everything in the world. I like it this way. I wasn’t able to do the phase 2 events but so what? I also couldn’t go to the Nobuo Uematsu concert either. Yeah, I paid for the tickets. Sucks, but that’s life. You can’t do everything. It makes it feel more real. To me at least :/
Natural part of item treadmill.
Catch up or get left behind, your call.
Gear treadmill’s the cause? This has been happening for a while now. I only see people asking for lvl 80 for dungeons. That’s why I laugh at this gear treadmill crap. People think the game was equal all around before but it most definitely was not. People were asking for exotics only and lvl 80 way before this new armor tier.
And why the heck do you people think it’s casuals? The dungeon lvl is 30? Let 30’s in. Casual has nothing to do with it. People can be fine in a dungeon if they’re lvl 30.
I found it much easier to trash some gear in the forge than farm karma for those things. Also it’s got 250 pack salvage items and 250 pack gathering tools which I don’t think you can get anywhere else.
I had a blast.
Some lag but i had fun doing it.
I agree. I had a lot of fun even with the lag. I love the one time events and I hope they keep doing them.
I like the lionguard skins :/ Not everyone thinks they’re trash. And it’s cheap to just get one and transmute it.
I actually think quite the opposite. I think a single thread with over 9k views has much more impact.
How id you get pink hair?
I think that’s just a red. That hair style lightens whatever color you use on it. Give it a shot.
I liked it before the ‘fix’.
I have no idea why people were complaining about getting them too often. It’s not like you ever get anything good anyway. It’s fun to open them and see what you get though.
Here’s a thought: If you are too casual to keep up with any particular game, why don’t you go find a more casual game and stop trying to make all of the hardcore games less hardcore?
We did, it’s called Guild Wars 2.
Selo, casuals don’t care about any of that stuff. That’s what makes them casual. You’re talking about a lazy hardcore gamer, lol.
If you play 5 hours a day, you’re not a casual player.
Depends on your definition of casual
I agree with several posters. Casual doesn’t mean you don’t have a lot of time to play. It means you aren’t bloodthirsty for the newest gizmo or you don’t run around trying to do every piece of new content in one day.
I consider myself a casual player and I play probably 4 to 5 hours a day on average. More on the weekend. I just don’t accomplish anything in most peoples’ eyes. I just hang out and explore. Heck I don’t even finish dailies most of the time.
I never even considered getting exotics let alone legendaries. Did it bother me? Heck no. That’s just how I play. I couldn’t care less about this hubbub over Ascended whatevers. I’ll never get them.
What does bother me as a casual player is it seems like there’s not much for me to do in this Lost Shores update. To me it seems like it’s all geared towards the hardcore player. If that’s how updates work in this game then I probably won’t be playing for long. I want new towns and regions to explore not new dungeons and stuff you have to be level 80 for. And certainly not high level gear that I know I won’t even try for because I just don’t care. I’m just apathetic to it all.
You guys are probably right. But everyone said the same RNG thing when it was broken.
Well I never got anything good from the unidentified ones anyway. I usually just buy the cheapo colors I want. Most are under 50copper.
I noticed this too. I usually get several dyes when starting an alt and I haven’t seen a single unidentified dye since the correction.
There’s been a lot of these threads popping up lately. Seems like it’d be nice if there was an option to turn off skill dialogue and random npc dialogue or at least turn it to less often.
Yeah, fewer trench coats please. They look kind of silly on charr. I have one chest piece that’s not a trench coat and I just keep transmuting it. It’d be nice to have a couple more options at least.
I wouldn’t just forget about it. I hate pvp with a passion and I’d love for them to take this part off world completion but it’s possible to do with the tips above. I’m gonna hold out and wait til the end before I attempt this in hopes they’ll change it though :P
I think it depends on why you’re playing and what you want out of it. I love exploring so while I’m exploring I do events. I never played GW1 so exploring Ascalon and discovering the back story is really fun for me. It’s like the big lost history thing for me. I love doing map completion too. It kind of goes a long with exploring. Having a buddy to explore with is a big plus. I just like the world.
What did you do in GW1? What kept you playing? Are you part of an active guild? If you honestly want to keep playing GW2 you’ll need to find stuff you actually like to do. It may be that GW2 just isn’t for you right now I guess :/
I love how people always over-react to things before we have ANY kind of information.
For all we know the “slightly better stats” means an increase of 5 points. Guess what?
Those 5 points won’t make the player immortal. And for all we know this set is specific for the dungeon, meaning we can ONLY use it in the dungeons.
Stop whining until we actually know what is going on.
You can’t stop them. They just like to complain about things before they even know what they’re complaining about. They’re not gonna get the devs to change this update. Best to wait and stop them from doing it again when we know more info.
Why not just see what they really are before exploding into rage?
I won’t buy keys for the chests if they do that again. I didn’t spend much on those, maybe around 5 bucks though. I saw there wasn’t a chance to get anything out of them and quit while I was ahead on those.
I loved the costumes but I’m just disappointed they’re town clothes. I’m undecided if I’ll get winter costumes if they’re also just town clothes. If there’s some kind of battle clothing for winter I’ll definitely get it.
I bought the minis since I love those and would get more for sure.
Loved the atmosphere. Simply amazing. I’ll be sad to see Lion’s arch lose the little trick or treaters and green glow. I’ve only played three other mmos but this is by far the most awesome.
I don’t do pvp but I loved the minigames in this event. I don’t do jumping puzzles, but the clocktower was fun (imo) and I conquered it.
But again, the single most amazing thing was the atmosphere. I loved it.
I never talk to new people either but hanging with people in the clocktower and playing in the labyrinth, asking people what doors were up and just mobbing through it with a huge group was just so fun. I made new friends. Just awesome.
Best holiday event for me ever.
Definitely the best Halloween I’ve ever seen in an mmo. Nothing I’ve seen comes even remotely close. I was impressed with how seamless the acts went off. Very impressed.
The decorations were so far above anything I’ve seen. Most games I’ve played just throw out some pumpkins and call it a day. Just amazing. Awesome atmosphere. I loved the little trick or treaters.
The minigames were awesome and so was the clocktower. I loved the challenge.
My only concern is that it was a little confusing to know everything there was to do. I didn’t want to miss anything.
I would also like more costumes. Many more costumes!
