With a thief and Mesmer anything would work…..just saying lol. I assuming you are meaning for WvW?
A lot of people get these, ignore and move on.
Lol I guess this test does not take in mind too much of the explorer side:
Your BrainHex Class is Mastermind.
Your BrainHex Sub-Class is Mastermind-Conqueror.
You like solving puzzles and devising strategies as well as defeating impossibly difficult foes, struggling until you eventually achieve victory, and beating other players.
According to your results, there are few play experiences that you strongly dislike.
Mastermind: 18
Conqueror: 14
Seeker: 13
Socialiser: 9
Daredevil: 7
Achiever: 6
Survivor: 2
And the other:
30% Ace, 33% Effector, 72% Innovator and 33% Strategist!
Innovators are players that like to “seek”, be it seeking new places, new inventions, new skills, new knowledge, and the like. Innovators are self-oriented in that their focus lies largely on their individual experience and what that experience can do for them as players. While this might make Innovators sound selfish, many Innovators enjoy working with other players and using their skills to benefit a group. However, the group interaction is not the end-all and be-all of game play for the Innovator, and it’s absence from a game is not as detrimental to the Innovator’s enjoyment as it would be to an Effector or a Strategist.
Innovators are often investigators: they are drawn to a game because of the appeal of discovery, be it the discovery of new places, new possibilities, or even uncovering plots and unraveling riddles. Innovators enjoy learning for their own sake, whether or not their knowledge might benefit a group, and sometimes might be reluctant to share what they’ve found with others under the attitude of “go find it yourself”. They are not generally hoarders, however, and are usually excited to share their passions and discoveries with others if given the opportunity. On the field, most Innovators are to some degree mildly active players, and tend to take positions that allow them to use their knowledge and skills to make sharp attacks rather than prolonged straight-on combat.
I wonder if Anet had their own sort of test like this what they could do with the info from the majority of their player base! Just imagine what the shape of GW3 could be like. O.O

I would like it if there were check box options for what we can turn on or off to target. For example I would turn off yellow passive mobs but turn on ambients. Why turn on ambients you may ask? Almost at 50% shield mastery is why and I am sick of targeting them with my mouse!. :P
so many PVEers in here to say “i disagree, give me them all!” what a shock…
we earned them, they didn’t, they want them anyway.
when was the last time you saw a PVPer turning the tables and moaning to be given wings of the sunless, or any of the countless PVE weapon skins that never made it to PVP?
You overlook the fact that NEW pvpers are also locked out of these skins. So I would suggest to bring them back via reward track chests.
There are we all happy now?
Tip:
Unless you have a very disposable source of real life cash simply do NOT buy keys from either real cash OR cash converted to gems. As all you are doing is encourage anet to keep this system in place. It’s time it went from the game and the only way that will happen is if people stop buying the keys….
Boycott it (by not buying, not on these forums by making posts etc as that is against the TOS :P). I have for the last 3 years but that does not mean that I have not bought gems for other things that have been in my onion well worth it.
And obtain all the skins and achievement points in the process? Some players like me have multiple accounts, but can’t play on their “main” due to unforseen reasons, or wanted to start afresh, but maintain their rewards, which I believe they are entitled to.
Can you be more specific about these “unforseen reasons”? Because the only one I can think of that would prevent a character from being played is the account got banned.
If the account’s banned, there is no justification for allowing that player to get those achievements. It cheapens the effort of everyone who follows the rules.
Actions have consequences. -Sid
Not reffering to banning lol, but you are completly right ^^.
Extreme example: Ex-bullied, got harrassed online, reported his harrassers but still felt like his account had been tarnished by the event, wants to start afresh on a account where noone knows him or his situation to prevent ever being a victim again.
You would also have the opposite be true. The bullies able to link their accounts and keep all their rewards but be under a new name. Thus pretty much losing their bad rep for what they have done in the past. This could be the real problem.
If someone has been the victim of such a case I really can’t see how they are the one with the tarnished name.
Yeah wont happen, it would create too much possibilities for exploitation.
You would have bypassing time gated crafting and other such things such as the new key farming rule. Double, triple etc laurels, yeah no, too open for “pay to win” situations.
Don’t even get me started about gold sellers and their bots and how they could exploit it…
Then there is free accounts on top of this. I suppose you would rule them out? They would have to.
It’s def explorer for me, it always is in most games I play. Not only exploring in the sense of the map/world/lands but also the game mechanics as well as all the different races and classes. Of course here there are all the different personal stories as well so there is quite a lot for the explorer type person like me. Oh yeah all the recipes too, especially cooking I really had fun exploring and unlocking all of those.
Buy them for the skins sure as that is a doable thing. But for the AP’s not so much. Sure you COULD do so but don’t expect to get them in a speedy fashion. Especially if you are getting HOT and will be spending most of your time there and in future GW2 content.
So summary:
Sure but expect to work away at those APS over a great length of time.
I would love to see them spam this song in game for the countdown of the last 24 hours for the launch. It would be so cool yet so annoying at the same time. :P
Please don’t give them ideas, especially ones that will make people run to the hills.
Oh boy you went and done it, opened up a whole new can of worms! Okay fine, I would settle for them to play the Churchill speech at the 2 mins to launch mark.
Another world… awaits us.
I used to have this song as my battle music for GW2. Sadly it would play non stop for me as I would always get into a lot of fights with groups since my build is made for it. Add this to the fact that it would never end when it should and I soon got sick of this song which is a shame as it’s one of my fave pieces from any game.
C’mon Lanfear, Don’t Stop Believing.
It’s all about The Journey
And let the path of corny 80s song title puns begin!
Never Surrender! (to that kitten song!)
Here comes my thief’s playlist (all of my characters have their own lists), it is almost all 80s music. Well, hopefully I will get that day off because there is no way I will be able to get anything done thinking about both haloween AND hot.
Don’t forget Queen – Invisible Man!
I would love to see them spam this song in game for the countdown of the last 24 hours for the launch. It would be so cool yet so annoying at the same time. :P
You are. There is no subscription, all it means is now people can play for free what we bought. Mind you they have a lot of restrictions. So don’t worry about it, move on and ignore all the garbage you see in game about it from those who think they know better.
I am from New Zealand and ALWAYS experience bad latency and Ping/Fps in Drytop and the Silverwastes so I am not really looking forward to how the new HOT maps will be for me.
I don’t think it will be as bad as being dced from the game but still it gets so bad that I always have to turn down my settings to the lowest performance. Basically its on a par with when I am in WvW and there are zergs all over the place. No where else in the game is so bad for me. So tbh I really wonder why this is. Are these servers placed somewhere else? Is it all the decorations or the verticality of the maps are just more taxing on my crap graphics card? I really do wish they would look into it tho.
Let me tell you, using those pick up items to travel around Drytop is a nightmare. You really do see the latency issues. There is still one particular Lost coin that I can’t get as you need to use the teleport to pick up item and it will ALWAYS over shoot you no matter what. Don’t even get me started on the JP/diving goggles there. At 10 Fps on the lowest settings it’s a real NIGHTMARE. Even just at the base of it, if you fall down underneath the structure you have to fight very hard with the camera just to get yourself out of it. It is the worst experience you can imagine in a game let me tell you….
So here’s hoping it’s not too bad….
Before the Megaservers came along I was playing around exploring in Southsun and the map was dead, no other players. Actually I was trying to farm for Armoured Shells I think as the fish drop them there pretty well. Anyway I was searching around in all the water areas of the map and came across the champ shark on the south side. I debated with myself if I should try and solo him as I could solo a lot of champs and would always test myself against any new one I saw. I think I tried him but had to retreat as his charge attack can be deadly and is hard to see coming.
That’s not the interesting part of the story, this next part is, if that. So the next day I went back and was exploring around for the best area to find the fish that drop the shells. Again I come to the champ shark area and what do I see? The champ shark was fighting a npc Jellyfish. I thought to myself, “uh oh that poor jellyfish”. But boy was I wrong, as he was constantly healing himself. In the end the jellyfish won I couldn’t believe it. I don’t think I have seen anything close to that again since. Needless to say I felt useless being that a NPC could kill that champ when I couldn’t lol….
No keys from drops yet but that should really come as no surprise to anybody. I have had 4 total the 3 years I have been here before this change was made. So that explains that.
“Map completion, one key. ( two maps did not even give me the reward chest)”
More than likely you completed these maps in the past and got the reward already. Anet have added extra Poi’s and Wps to some of the maps. What this did was made our 100% for them less than 100%. So we had to complete them again by getting these new Wps or Poi’s. They are right in not rewarding us again with the chest. You were not ripped off trust me.
Considering that I had never been to these maps on this character, I’d say I was ripped off.
Well that def sounds like a bug then. Are you sure no one else plays on your account like a brother or sister or something? If not I would def send in a support tickect and they can clear that up for you.
Good work taking the screenshots! And people scoff at suggestions to make a Skritt playable race. Do eeeet I say if just for all the role-play potential.
Lol I just got a key drop. I guess complaining on the forums does pay off! I have only been playing very casually since the update too. Just doing daily and farming foxfires. Got the drop off the Vet that guards the Elder Tress in Malchor’s Leap.
So a word to the wise, don’t overlook killing him while you farm there!

Sounds to me like you just want to rename “karma” to “gold medals” or basically just turn the Gold Medals into a new currency? We really don’t need a new currency. All they need to do is add more value to karma….and the karma vendors.
Lol I am sorry but I just have to say it:
Anet rewards key buyers by giving them the bird! I think that’s a hint to stop wasting money on them.
Oxidia.8103:
It would not make any sense that you get to use locked finishers when you have random set. What would be the point of even buying them? Sounds to me like you have got some of the consumable ones without even noticing it.
Oh that’s easy. He’s the new class that is coming with the next expansion after HOT. It’s called the “Butler”. Sadly tho all your skills do is keep my POH clean and tidy. Those clothes will get dirt on them from all the harvesting of my fruit and veggies too so you better wash them often!
This sounds more like another type of template thing to me more than an actual weapon swap. So with that in mind I can see nothing wrong with the idea at all. Of course they need to add the build template first of course!
Good to hear about changes coming as I usually have the music turned off. Why? The following reasons:
1 – The combat music starts too often and just blares at you. I wish there was an option to turn it off so I can enjoy the other music. Yes I know we can change it to our own music. For a good while I had the intro music from FFX, best piece of gaming music ever but soon got bored with that. Yet to find the Benny Hill theme music, that would be perfect lol!
2 – Most of the said other music is either boring or depressing. The best pieces do not play often enough or seem to be confined to certain maps/areas. The into piece of music when you load up the game or perhaps on the char select (I forget which) is the best piece if I recall. It pumps you up and makes you want to get in game and do heroic deeds. But alas it ends there as it never seems to play while you are actually in the game! Such a waste.
3 – Some of the music that was in GW1 seems out of place here. Yes some of it was good but when I hear it now I just think back to GW and the worse graphics, no jump and the maps there where I would hear the music. Not good.
A good place to start is to look at the Achievements section. Work on these while doing your first world complete and you can’t go wrong. Mix in a bit of WvW and PvP too and you will have tons to do.
A racist trying to cover his backside while pointing the finger at others?
Obviously the OP used photoshop or some such to add those words to the pic and is trying to put the blame on anet.
Shrug, don’t laugh and move on, best that we can do here.
I can already walk on water, it’s called jump spamming. :P
Tip:
You can preview ALL dyes (including locked) so you can always find the name of a suitable dye from previewing. It is just a matter of noting the dye name and buying it.
I always had put it down to latency issues for myself personally. I get the same thing every year for the Halloween Minigame too.
There is 1 Lost coin I can’t get in Dry Top because of the skill 3 overshooting every time which leaves me to my death from falling. Good gold sink from all the wp costs I guess.
Can’t wait for HOT and all the deaths people will have from failed gliding – brilliant gold sink!
They’d have to dumb down the game for consoles and split the patches and budget. It would be better if console gamers stopped being cheap and just got a PC and stopped supporting the silly childish console war that’s ruining gaming.
I think that you will find that console gamers spend more on gaming in the long run than pc gamers as the games are a heck of a lot more costly. Also I think you may be in for a sad future as everything will be done on our tvs in the not so distant future anyway. That’s right our computers will be a part of our tvs so you may as well say that is console gaming. It’s actually the PC game makers that will have to adapt, and their players along with it.
Tbh it’s the PC fanboys that give gaming and gamers are bad name in general. :P
I think you’ll find a PC gamer will spend more than a console gamer in the long run, for the following.
1) We can’t buy games second hand. Console gamers can. (and games like CoD are the same price on PC as they are on console.)
2) To keep the best level of graphics, for the same length of time as a console we have to spend the price of a console on just a card.
3)Depending on what sec PC you have to start with, you could end up buying a new graphics cars every 3 years or so, just to keep your games looking as good or better than the console.
I might have to dispute your reply here:
1 – I don’t know where you live but here you can buy PC games second hand. Sometimes you do need a new code sure, but that can be cheap enough usually. Besides it is going this way for a lot of games on consoles too these days (needing codes, battlefield 3 is a good example).
2 – The average life of a console these days is about 5 years. I have had my current computer for about 3 so far I think, maybe a bit longer. Not yet updated my graphics card. Although I do seriously need to but that is only because when I bought this computer I got a real crappy card with it at the time without realising it. Can’t upgrade it either as I would need a new motherboard I found out so I am better off getting a whole new computer. But this is my 3rd computer I have had and the 1st time I have had this issue.
For some people they can make a computer go for a good 5 years+ and sometimes without any upgrades.
3 – See 2.
Lastly console gamers HAVE to buy a whole new console every time the new one is out. They can’t just change parts here and there. PC players are lucky they can just replace parts as they come out. Again I think PC gamers have it easier right now.

Have you got many alts? If so, another option is to park all your alts out in Malchor’s Leap near the Elder tress. Log in on them all every 15-20 mins and cut the trees for foxfires. It can be pretty good for little work. Sure it’s not a guaranteed fast farming but it can be something to do to break things up.
Tip: go to PvP lobby to bank/use BLTC Vendor, no need to head into a city. You can leave PvP too and go back to your exact spot before you entered the lobby.
So you basically want an item introduced that you need to piece together just so you get a key so you have a % chance to get another item where you need to piece lots of said item together again so you can finally get a weapon skin?
This wont end well…….Surely anet can come up with a better solution! Actually here I have one for you. Sell the TICKETS directly and drop the need for this rng garbage. Heck with HOT coming and all the opportunity there to make a lot of cash from gems for all sorts of cool “skins” you could release for decorations for our guild halls you really DON’T need to keep this bltc/chest nonsense going any longer.
There we go, fixed your solution for you.
I wanna play as a Centuar and challenge Human females to races.
Uh oh, now that would change the game in a BIG way!
As said above, you actually need 7 runes to give 6/6 all the time. Worse the common rebreathers are unsalvageable, meaning you can’t extract the rune on them by salvaging.
I have suggested they get rid of the underwater helm and use the runes and stats from the normal head gear but I don’t see that happening any time soon.
This issue also applies to Agony Resist where there is no slot on any rebreather, so you lose 5 AR fighting under water. In this case it may be preferable to use 5 bits of ascended armor along with exotic head gear to save on costs.
They really should do away with the breathers imo. It’s just such an annoying system and confusing to some people. All they need to do is have an aqua breather slot specifically for a different skin for our helmet while under water. This way it still looks realistic and all those skins they created do not go to waste. Yet I don’t think they made too many skins but still…
What the above posters said and to add a little more it has ALWAYS been like this. Maybe you just never noticed it with other runes because the effect was not so noticeable as the movement one from the Traveller rune is?
One suggestion I have made in the past went ignored which I will say here again:
At the moment we can upgrade wood to higher tiers via the Mystic Forge. They could give us a backward version of this. Say you throw in a stack of Elder Wood for example and get back 50 Hard Wood. This could be an option.
Atm this would only be profitable for 2 common mats, gossamer to silk and thick leather to rugged leather.
Still, it could be a great pre-emptive/solution for anything else that comes up in the future. You also are overlooking wood and ores. I would suspect Elder to Hard and Mith to Plat. Of course you could then go further and turn Plat to Iron etc.
mithril-platinum has a 1-4 value ratio, elder to hard wood a 1-3 value ratio. IF you just get 50 back from a stack, it wouldnt be profitable.
Well if you go by the ratio that I gave which by the way was a quick off the top of my head example based on the current that we get when we UPGRADE lower to higher tier. Obviously Anet would decide on the ratio/numbers. They could easily do a 1 for 1 ratio since it’s lower tier quality if they wanted to, but I doubt they would do that, but still they could.
Look past the numbers at this point, it’s the basic idea that could be a solution. Besides it was more for the solution to the problem of being disappointed that you get a higher tier than what you may want/need and the issue that higher tier is valued less than the lower because of the over supply. My idea is NOT based on what people can profit from or how they could turn it into a profit making business or hard cash making system.
In general, i dont see it as a problem that some higher tier mats are less valuable than lower tier ones.
For some reasons, it even makes sense that the value of materials doesnt ascend with its tier.
Because it promotes participation in lower tier maps and functions as an incentive for veterans as well, to play on those maps. It also gives new players, who level their first character, good value for their loot. If only high end maps would drop valuable loot, it widens the wealth gap between veterans and new players.
While it’s true that wood and ore is no real problem to get as you can simply go to those maps and it does promote incentive to go back to those maps. The same can not be said that much for leather/clothes. It is just much harder to get these when you really want to. Simply going to the map does not guarantee that you can get the lower tier leather/cloth any easier at all. Simply because of the fact it’s all RNG drop wise from both mobs and loot bags as well as adding to the fact that you can and probably will still get lvl 80 loot if you are 80. Thus again getting more and more of the higher tier cloth/leather you may not want.
So again a downgrading option can help here.
Racial skills, because of Anets standing policy of always balancing them to be ineffective fluff inferior in pretty much every situation to class skills, don’t really matter. They’re about as important as adding emotes.
As for the cosmetic thing, sure cosmetics are big, but why waste development time on so many OLD cosmetics? Any “new” race is going to be one we’ve seen plenty of. All that modeling and art work to re-make all the existing armors for them is just going to be extensions of themes that you’ve already seen. The only truly new thing you’d get out of it is the three racial armor sets.
Roleplay, I don’t know how many people are actually involved in, maybe Anet knows. If enough of them, which I find incredibly doubtful, then maybe the upsides of a new race would be bigger than the overwhelming landslide of downsides.
There is only 1 racial skill that is any decent I will admit that. Point was, it is still SOMETHING even if just for fun. As for adding emotes, to some people that is important as well. Simply because they are not important to you does not mean there is no value there.
Waste development time? You keep saying this would be a waste. How could it be a waste when once made they last FOREVER and can be used by people new to the game or others who want something new to play with? Unlike many of the LS bits and pieces we had early on in the game which lasted a day or 2, that to me was a true waste. Not only racial armours but there will be new PS as well as a new city like you said above. Sure the PS may be a small % of what you get from the full PS but then again maybe this could be an incentive for anet to go back and add on to ALL of our PS and take them a little further than just the small point they do atm. Also more races = more people wanting to play them which = more char slots bought.
It’s not really just roleplay, it’s also immersion, these are 2 different things. I have every class and race covered at the moment in game. While I don’t go hardcore RP as it’s not really my thing I still play them as if they were their own different characters. They have their own background and theme I sort of go for when I play them and it can add a lot of fun to the game for me. It can give a nice break from my main when I just feel like playing the game differently for a bit. Again I see nothing wrong with this.
If new races are not for you that’s cool, simply don’t play them if they come. But let anet decide if it’s worth it or not. Also who is to say they have such limited resources anyway? After all they are hiring more and more people all the time. Maybe it’s things like this they want to expand on in the game. Heck they have gone well and truly beyond what I thought they would for the guild halls with the decorating part. So I can easily see them doing things in the future that many people have said in the past “never, wont happen” or “waste of time/resources”. Truly, us players have NO idea what anet are willing/able to do and when exactly. Also add to the fact that Anet loves to try and surprise/shock us. I wouldn’t be surprised if they DID try and do some of these things just to say “you say we can’t, you are wrong – we can!”
(edited by Paulytnz.7619)
The problems with a new race, any new race, is the limited amount of new game play that it brings compared to how much work is required to add it. It brings nothing new mechanically to the game, at all. The only real addition would be the starting city, 1/3 of a personal story, and a whole lot of graphics. The graphical work of modeling every single non racial armor in the game for them is enormous, plus the three new racial armors they’d have to model. In the end, you end up with something that really has no impact on the game for months and months of labor. Seriously, all that work, and absolutely no impact whatsoever once you get out of the starter personal story and in to the factions part.
Why would they waste their limited development time on something so overwhelmingly cosmetic?
Flaw with your post where I have made bold. Sure it would be small but I would consider racial skills new mechanics.
That and roleplay and making a lot of people happy and giving them more variety I should say would make it all worth it imo.
“Why would they waste their limited development time on something so overwhelmingly cosmetic?”
You seem to forget just how much of a cosmetic game this is especially after level cap and what some people call end game. It becomes dress up Barbie which hey I am not knocking and many people enjoy. So why would players not want this to extend to the character at the most basic level?
Tengu hands down…….
3 issues with this OP:

Looking back on the past here with the GW2 community i remember how the vocal majority on the forum before HoT was thought of by the masses,
people were saying we would never get a new class, because all fantasy archtypes were already covered by the 8 original classes.
fast forward to the present, and Anet gives us a new class with its own mechanics and theme.
So never say never to new classes. Its always possible to design something new and fresh.that being said, how many of you believe we will get another future class in an expansion?
If so, what theme and archetype would it fit? Whats some ideas you may have?
Sheeple will always go along with what some people say/think just to feel smarter about themselves. I can assure you not ALL of us said they would not make anymore classes. Just like not ALL of us say “nay” to many other ideas/things that are said here.
Tbh whenever a new thread is made with either a suggestion or comment on if something will come into the game or not I would say the first few posts to reply may actually have some what of a direction of where more replies will go. Not always but I have seen it before.
Example there was one post where someone suggested more options for the whisper system. Only myself and the op were all for it (from what I remember). There were a good handful of people against, saying such things as “wont happen”, “not worth the time or resources”. There was no support for it besides myself and the op……………….
That is until a Mod posted asking for more details on what we would like, however saying there will be no promises. What happened next do you think? All of a sudden the post became very popular and everyone was in support of it. I say it again – SHEEPLE!

The problem is that when they made this game and put in the chance for higher tier wood they had considered that the higher wood would be more desired, simply because it is a higher tier. However the issue here is that this is not the case since supply and demand comes into it. Because there are more people playing in the lvl 80 zones you are going to get an over supply of the Elder wood thus making it less value than the lower tier wood.
It sucks, and believe me those of us who purchased the perm copper and higher salvage kits face this as well, if not more so since we do not feel inclined to buy the lower tier consumable kits since we spent either real cash to buy what we have or traded gold for the gems. They really do need to do something about this. There needs to be more use for the higher/highest tier woods so that they are valued and desired more. The same could be said for all mats actually.
One suggestion I have made in the past went ignored which I will say here again:
At the moment we can upgrade wood to higher tiers via the Mystic Forge. They could give us a backward version of this. Say you throw in a stack of Elder Wood for example and get back 50 Hard Wood. This could be an option.

Or they should just delete them already since we know there are going to be no more betas…..
