You can unlock weapon/armor skins even if you can’t use it. Cultural armor may be an issue, though.
I like masteries, better grind something then having no content and whine about on forums how THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO IN GAME.MMO’s are not for lazy people,if you don’t like it,you are on wrong genre so feel free to leave.
why do you assume that anybody is whining about no content? i f.e. have not once complained about a lack of content.
The people who complained about lack of content left, quietly in most cases. Some of those people have returned, myself included.

I’ve heard it’ll take around 60 to unlock it. The 400 is to completely unlock everything in the spec. It shouldn’t take that long to “experience” the elite spec.
The release time is pretty irrelevant, since you’re unlikely to be able to log in anyway.
If you have map completion you should be able to access it on release. The point you’re missing is that “access” and is not the same as completing it.
The game would revert back to it’s older self — just with more content.
Which is what most GW2 players want.
Clearly this isn’t the case, otherwise you’d have someone helping to defend you.
good alternatives? what the game promised at the launch.
cosmetic grind, no grind for the BiS, just story, living story and events.just make ascended tradeable, much more common as drops…and leave legendaries as is it now, no matter as it’s a skin.
This is the only thing I would accept.
Until that moment..no gw2 nor any other mmo.
Grinding for legendaries is also grinding for BIS.
I got the mad king book on a lvl 18 guard, and the complete edition on a 30~something necro. Usually, the open world events are aimed at the average lvl, ie 30-50 range.
I wouldn’t trust new players either.
When the randomness is gone, there is an incentive to unlock the legendaries and sell the account. If someone scripted the whole thing, it might become profitable.
If someone could completely bot a legendary, they’d be working somewhere that pays them 10 times what they could get from this. Or they’d be high tech james bond villains.
Are you trying to say the new precurser mastery’s will be botted?
If you can do it, a bot can do it.
Those precursers are account bond. The effort it would take to program a bot to do the activities required to complete the mastery would far exceed the effort to do it manually. This is literally a none issue.
you….it….wat?
1 guy programs them, 90000 buy it from him. How is that not worth it?
Do you know anything about the mastery track for these things? If you did you probably wouldn’t have made this thread.

Maybe action camera mode will solve this, when it comes out.

Yes, it can take a few hours to update.
The old system was stupid grindy. I can’t wait for this thing to come out.
You will bring whoever shows up on time. The small group of bleeding edge world first type of players will want optimal classes and gear, but everyone else will take what they can get.
I don’t believe you.
It sounds to me, like they’re giving a less RNG dependant way to acquire some materials, so that you can ACTUALLY grind certain materials if you want, while also trying to make the current worthless materials, not worthless.
The game won’t die from these changes, no matter how drastic they might be, or perceived to be. Don’t be a drama queen.
It’s not grinding, it’s reasons to continue playing the game beyond the story.
Zerker will still be the “meta” for everything below raids. What people don’t understand, is that zerker isn’t a requirement, it’s a choice.
Playing on release day is like watching a train wreck. It’s tragic, but there’s nothing you can do about, so you watch anyway.
What got me was when they stated enough gold and time at tier 3 to keep the value of the Pre’s on the TP.
Did they ever say that? They said they wanted the Precursors to keep value, and I expect that they’ll still cost several hundred gold to complete, because there needs to be a large investment so that they retain their… grandeur. But I don’t believe they said that they want the Precursors to keep the same value they currently have on the TP. I mean, Dusk and The Legend are triple the price of The Energizer. Do you really think they’d make those Precursors three times as expensive as the other collections, just because they’re more expensive on the TP?
That depends on how they define value. Devs value time and money/gold differently from players. Will the cheaper pre’s make those collections useless/counterproductive, and or will they bring down the price of the more expensive ones? Who knows.
Welcome to every game forum, ever. 80% of forum threads are complaints of some form.
I wanted to try out the engi elite… so I haven’t bothered with the beta yet.
They’ll fix it when the internet from across half the globe stops sucking.
The weapon models will likely be data mined before release, but they probably won’t tell us anything about them until right before or even not at all.
You paid to get access to the game at the point you had paid for it. So you’ve had access for the game longer than someone who got it for free yesterday. That isn’t even taking into account that their free access is restricted.
No… gw2 when I bought it wasn’t advertised as buy for early access, or wait and play for free… I paid for content of worth, under the understanding that you HAD to buy to play, as THAT is what it was advertised as. you say I could have waited and got it for free, but lets be realistic, who ever thought gw2 would be given out free, the devs certainly never so much as even eluded to such a thing at release. Now they are telling me that content is actually worthless, but because I wanted to play when it was released, too bad, I should have waited, I have to pay. people are fond of used car references, but what company gives out a old used mustang, completely updated and matained for free so long as you buy the new stereo they put in there???
These really bad analogies are fun, lets keep it up. You’re saying that if someone else gets a moped for free, your mustang is somehow worth less.
You… reading comprehension? I said if someone gets a mustang for free simply for buying the stereo in it, my mustang is worth less.
Your mustang is worth exactly the same as his mustang. It was worth less regardless of him getting it or not. The difference is you had a mustang for a much longer time.
This analogy is still bad, since the free version is not the same as the paid version.
They are exactly the same, the same manufacture/seller made and updated them at the same time. I got my mustang sooner then he did yes, but the one at my house was upgraded at the same time as his sitting in the wearhouse. same components, same quality, both kept in pristine condition, but I had to pay to buy it, and I had to pay for every single upgrade that went into it, he bought only the last upgrade and got everything else for free
Everyone who owned the mustang at the time could go to races, and parties, and have access to the mustang whenever they wanted. The guy who just got it yesterday missed all the events, has no idea why the mustangs have a large dent in the rear quarter panel or what the original interior looked like. If it’s the free version they also don’t get a horn, half an engine, and missing a tire.

You pay for access to the game. Price is very much related to that. People pay higher to get in early. Those who don’t feel the price is worth it can come in later. If you get in early but don’t take advantage of your access, that’s your problem. There are many games I could afford but held out on because I realized I wouldn’t have the time to play.
Or play for free… Wait what did I pay for?
You payed for all the stuff they don’t get. It’s pretty straight forward. They even have a nifty little chart to help you figure out what that stuff is. And lets not forget the 3 year headstart, which is kind of a big deal.
Every game forum is this way, don’t flatter yourselves thinking this one is any different.
Just because they want to attract new people doesn’t mean the GW2 playerbase is declining. Even WoW has been trying to attract new people continuously during its 12 year long lifespan.
Oh puh-leaze. Is Warcraft now free-to-play? Have they gotten rid of their subscription base format? No? Then kindly take that nonsense elsewhere.
It ain’t flying.
Going F2P isn’t the only way to attract more players, fyi.
I don’t think HOT is going to be different enough to warrant a demo. If you like the core game, you’re more than likely going to like HOT.
I like bashing Anet but saying you could get similar amount of content in $10 DLC is a bit too much. DLC that costs $10 usually gives you like an armour or so.
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of The First Sin, 20€ and I spent over 200+ hours with the content it gave me.
Lets be fair here, that DLC is actually 3 DLC’s, each costing 10$. Not really a fair comparison.
They aren’t? That’s weird. Most of the zones I go to are always well populated. Must be me.
Yes, because the world is so populated and full, they’ve decided to offer the game for free in an attempt to tempt more people, and sales, into the game because giving it away makes oh so much sense with a robust community.
Why wouldn’t you take this opportunity to increase your player base? Regardless of how many people currently play the game, a demo never hurts. They should have done this long ago.
Cyborg RAT 7 or 9. Or The MMO 7/9
Your friends are just poor.
The majority of players will never have a legendary, so for those players, it doesn’t matter if they add 3 or 30. Their game experience won’t be that different with or without new legendaries. Should the devs focus on content that the majority will see, or will a few more “shiny” skins be the determining factor of quality and completeness of the xpac?
They should absolutely work on the content that they promised. Basically everybody who watched the HoT announcement at PAX thought “Awesome, a new set of legendaries.” Then we find out that its only 3 new legendaries. An absolute disappointment.
I prefer the quality over quantity approach. 1 new legendary is 1 more than I’ll ever have. This thread just shows that people had false expectations about what “set” meant.
There’s a reason event mobs have little to no loot, and we only have ourselves to blame.

Isn’t there some sort of lead time they need between an announcement of the date and that date? If they are going to be selling the expansion in stores then they need to make all the boxes and discs that they hope to sell and ship them out, as well as the time needed to sell all these boxes. So, there’s manufacturing, shipping and selling time that has to be factored in to the release date.
Box copies of MMO’s are just a physical copy of the patcher. A CD with a file that points to the GW website download is all they need.
I never understood that particular PVE rant. Just because it’s possible to beat the easiest content through auto attacks, doesn’t mean you have to.
There’s going to be bugs and other problems regardless of how long it takes or how many beta tests they have.
Oh you sweet summer child. If you only knew ( and by that, I mean if you did any reasearch) you would know that answer to most, if not all of your questions. An expansion is overdue, that’s all you need to know.
“To continue playing the game after HOT launches – existing players would need to pay a nominal expansion fee of around $15 or there account would be suspended.”
Ya, no. That would be a kitten storm to end all kitten storms.
With the release of the expansion they are effectively doing that, but making everyone pay 50 instead of 15. I have no doubt the new specializations will be OP.
Sort of. 15-20$ is a much better deal for vets, but tacking on the suspension of accounts that don’t pay would be taken as a slap in the face.

Just because you theoretically can, doesn’t mean you should. And so what if some content can be beaten with the mind numbingly boring strategy of auto attack? That content isn’t listed as “challenging” so why does it matter?
