I agree, why not? It’s already pretty terrible as it is, only has niche uses.
Don’t need to teach stacking actually. Most dungeon encounter require very few stacking, its only that pugs still think stacking helps when it really doesn’t.
I cringe at how pugs keep using the same spots that were only useful for using fiery rush before the nerf.
Just proves how clueless people really are.
Then these same people are the ones that come on the forums whining about how you stack and bosses die and it’s no fun.
No problem!
Just be sure to understand that unlike other weaponsets, you benefit mostly from not swapping attunements when you’re on staff. Aside from the initial burst where you might start with earth to use eruption to blast in your field and perhaps start in air to use glyph of storms, you want to camp fire as much as possible.
Also don’t mind the # of views really. Sometimes people just browse to try to learn stuff themselves.
New class confirmed – the Warguard!
The kittenty DPS of a warrior with the tankiness and partywide defensive support of a guard!
I have sympathy for you Nevets Crimsonwing. I completely agree with every single point you’ve made and honestly can’t fathom lasting as long as you have repeating yourself and dealing with all of the illogical whining.
I commend you.
I’ll admit to being wary of other dungeon runs featuring necros and rangers and it’s a bit of a lottery. But higher lvl fractals are usually a safer bet
I wish this were true for me too.
Pugging fotm is ebola compared to dungeons because unlike dungeons, it actually kinda matters whether or not you have people with clownshoes equipment/traits to get the stuff done without it being really annoying.
I’m never wary of necros/rangers in my runs as much as I am with eles/warrs/mesmers/guards. So many s/d signet of restoration camping eles, GS+rifle warriors, staff guards, and GS mesmers trolling runs. It happened so frequently that as a result I’ve completely given up the notion of pugging higher level fractals ever being a good idea and haven’t done it in maybe 2+ months at least, maybe more.
Really am baffled at the number of people who post on here saying higher level fractals are safe with pugs. Either I’m extremely unlucky or maybe it’s just a matter of us having different standards. xD

You guys must have some intense social lives.
>50/50 GWAMM x3
>…>Does not understand GW1 and how short it takes a 7 year long veteran of the game to get GWAMM and 50/50.
>Most people have more hours on this game right now than my entire play time in GW1
>so Yeah, intense social lives.
Why are you flaming them though? We all play the same game and all have arguably worse social lives than somebody who doesn’t play it… so, wtf.
It’s effective in WvW and PvP but trash in PvE really because the utilities are wasteful, the runes/sigils aren’t very practical either, and D/D offers less DPS and defensive utility than D/F does.
You can use D/D for leveling up in open world PvE and it’s fine for things like that, but never take it in groups when doing dungeons/fractals because dagger offhand is pretty bad there. You only really wanna use dagger offhand in instanced PvE when you’re either prestacking might before an encounter or quickly using RTL then swapping back to another weaponset. In like 99% of all other cases, go for either staff or D/F.
Staff offers the very best DPS for an ele and D/F offers a lot of blasts for might stacking mid-fight.
Check this guide out for more details.

You and your hotw…
This is all preference based, I find Rifle hits more dps on mai than longbow therefore I take it. Yeah you can blast your LB burst but thats an optional thing to do. I highly suggest NOT camping a melee weapon for mai, too much unnecessary damage from physical dps + bleeds(Can argue about cond removal but you still take damage before its removed) To anyone planning on fighting mai with Range + WH offhand for cond removal, camp your range weapon and kite her at max melee range(to where she can’t hit you) and swap to Axe/Warhorn when you need to remove conditions, toss a quick 4 vuln, Vigor and swiftness to team and go back to range. This is what you should be doing in most PUG’s, if you have a good team setup, etc. then do other tactics.
No…
Telling people not to use melee weapons only puts them in the position where they are more than likely to end up tanking a teleport shot from her. It’s totally pointless to range her. You can always kite her around with axe and rifle doesn’t offer anything for group support either.
I worry about people reading and listening to advice like this. :/
You should always have at least one block on you for Mai Trin in pugs and especially solos. You don’t need more but it allows for mistakes to be made.
I question why you wouldn’t take banner of discipline in a solo either. If you really want the signet of stamina, swap out the signet of fury for it. ‘For Great Justice’ is also more valuable than an extra 40 precision from deep strikes is.
But, do as you please.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
There is only one viable gearing set in this game, berserker. If you are using another stat you are just gimping yourself.
If you want to survive alone as an ele, you should be using scepter focus with 30 arcane for the water dodge.
Lolwut
Berserker is the best to play in when you’re capable of playing in it without failing constantly, yes, but to claim it as the only viable set is very narrow-minded.
vi·a·ble
?v??b(?)l/
adjective
capable of working successfully; feasible.
Let people play in training wheels. There’s nothing wrong with it provided they respect other people’s wishes on the LFG when they ask for berserker only.
Since I’ve posted on here, I’ve gotten axe and sword!
From TWO consecutive runs!
Here’s the sword, highlighting it because for once I actually got a reward from a duo on 50 that was good xD
http://www.twitch.tv/purpleishawt/c/6122670
RNG, I don’t understand you. You give me this, yet something as simple as not getting max swarm counts at Lupicus is too much to ask for? Psssssh.
Elementalist will feel overall weaker than other classes, despite having more skills available.
wut lol
I really hope by “weaker” you only mean “squishier.”
I didn’t say it was fine to do, I’m just explaining to him that as long as he plays that class it’s gonna keep happening… at least in pugs.
There’s nothing he can do about it as long as he’s on a ranger.
It’s called stigma. I blame the robin hood roleplayers.
I know it sucks for you but you must understand why people do it, yeah?
Sometimes people just kick because they’re conditioned to believe that rangers/necros are always terrible. At the same time there are morons out there who think warriors have the best DPS still, so it’s misinformation across the board.
But… it’s undeniable that ranger seems to attract the most retar___ people on the planet. It’s just.. the way it is. They should consider renaming the class from ranger to something else, so that people who pick the class don’t immediately assume you’re supposed to roleplay as robin hood when doing dungeons/fractals. It would do the class justice.
As for your personal issue… it’s just something you’ll need to put up with unfortunately.
now they just need to fix mossmans leash range…
I’d also like it if they fixed the bug where he interrupts himself and gouges from stealth too.
I think I know what the problem is.
OP is too embarrassed of admitting they don’t know how to check the laptop specs.
Kekkity kekkity kek.
Hell no I’d never waste money on things like this haha.
I have as much faith in ArenaNet acknowledging our thoughts, suggestions and opinions as I do with the fact that they’ll fix Alphard’s bone wall.
But nevertheless, congrats on the title Rising Dusk ^^
They’re channeled skills… if you spam the keys it’s just going to interrupt the cast. You press the key once and it’ll work.
Rifle has always been a trash weapon for warrior.
I’d support it being buffed, sure.
Testing on an immobile golem? Not ideal for sustained DPS in real situations i think. But I would like to see the actual numbers for the optimized DPS for both if someone can provide the link. Even if ele pulls ahead in DPS it wont be that significant.
Back to might stacking, in order to maintain 25 stacks of might if the boss doesnt die in 20s, the ele has to rely on a second ele for continous might stacking, otherwise face a big loss in DPS.
In a group ideal setting, in theory MM necro has the highest DPS with a conjured weapon from the ele.
You want real examples instead of just a test golem? Sure.
I just linked a Lupicus kill that I did with staff ele in my previous post. It wasn’t even my best one, and my friend’s done a staff ele Lupi kill in ~3:20 and has a 3:36 uploaded on his youtube channel. It’s barely possible, if at all, to even do that in under 5 minutes on a warrior now due to the plethora of DPS nerfs it’s seen over the past year.
Warrior was roughly 30% better DPS prior to April 2014, when it’s seen tons of damage nerfs since then. During this time, it was only possible to kill Lupicus on a warrior in under 4 minutes with close to 0 mistakes and perfect RNG. The very best kill time back then was 4:08 on a warrior. Even back then, ele was miles ahead of warrior in DPS and not only because of FGS.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
Warrior sustained DPS is at least top 3 if not best i think in general. Not every boss goes down in seconds with prestacked 15-20s of 25 might even with 25 stacks of vulnerability.
Meteor shower and ice bow – large AOE and dependent on immobile mobs. Staff ele is slow.
You’re 100% incorrect.
Go to the heart of the mists and test it on an indestructible golem for yourself. Literally every single form of an ele is higher sustained DPS than warrior, including:
Scepter+LH ele
D/F ele
Staff ele
You think staff ele is slow?
If you were to do absolutely nothing but autoattack and lava font with a staff ele it’d still be better DPS than warrior.
And these are the classes that have higher sustained DPS than warrior in a group setting assuming ideal conditions (fury + 25 might):
thief
elementalist
engineer
ranger
In a solo setting warrior pulls ahead of ranger, but now thanks to the might nerf thief is able to match warrior’s DPS in a solo setting even with no fury and no might. In group settings it’s been abundantly clear for roughly 2 years now that warrior wasn’t at the top level for personal sustained DPS. Where have you been?
EDIT: Also… you say meteor shower/ice bow are dependent on immobile mobs… erm… HUNDRED BLADES? If anything hundred blades is more dependent on that than either ice storm or meteor shower, considering its range is only 130 and is a 3.5s channeled skill.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
*Warrior is higher then both ele and thief. So there is that. *
After those 3 it’s a toss up, but I know which isn’t there. Necro’s cause their last.
Lmfao
I’m cringing for you right now. Warrior has literally trash DPS, even with full ascended berserker everything with scholar and truffle steak + mighty or precision infusions.
They’ve been struggling for over half a year now. Time to wake up, people!
How is Ele sustained DPS high especially after FGS nerf? If they are might stacking, their DPS decreases even more as opposed to phalanx warrior which has a slightly less DPS output especially at lower level dungeons whilst easily maintaining 25 might stacks on all, not to mention Empower buff.
Ele’s DPS is only number 1 when it comes to structures or very large bosses.
As for thief DPS, only kicks in when enemy’s HP goes down to less than 50%. Before that very subpar DPS.
Actually a warrior has to sacrifice like 30% of their personal DPS for phalanx strength, it’s not as small as you’re making it out to be. It’s a good trait obviously but it’s not “slightly less damage output,” it’s a lot less.
And as for eles… a staff ele has the highest personal DPS in the game unless we’re talking single target DPS, which thief is slightly higher. This is just with lava font + fireball as well, not even referring to rotations involving meteor shower + ice bow.
If you consider the ele’s capability of an opening burst by prestacking to 25 might, using glyph of storms for 25 vuln, and using ice bow followed by meteor shower… it’s without question that eles are the best of all classes for damage.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
What the kitten is this?
Laughing irl at that pic hahaha
You’re not supposed to camp water… it’s intended to deal garbage damage. Water has utility such as chilling your enemies/healing yourself/allies. You can camp it if you really want to, but if you want to be an effective ele you’re supposed to make use of all attunements. The exception is staff in PvE where you optimize your damage output by camping fire.
I like the fact that FoTM rewards are very different from dungeon rewards. For a new player, FoTM rewards are amazing since they will give them bag slots, ascended trinkets and fractal skins. The problem is that veteran players already have most of these and getting rewarded with something we already have is almost the same as getting nothing. I think a cool reward could be the ability to get those +stat/ar infusions but make them account bound and make it so equipment pieces just feeds on them when we apply it so we don’t need to constantly MF them. For example let’s say my helm has a +1power, if I feed it 2 +1powers it becomes +2power, and if I feed it 4 +1powers it then becomes +3 and so forth.
The stat infusions idea is something I suggested at least 5 times, once even over a year ago. Barely anybody had anything to reply with and nobody seemed to care.
With that in mind, +11111111111. I obviously fullheartedly agree with that. :P
I thought it had been confirmed already that 50s has the worst loot table aside from the 1 to 9 bracket.
It was bugged when it was confirmed. Actually right now if you check any spreadsheets they seem to be kind of… even. Now everything is equally crappy.
A relic and shards are not exactly nothing. Moreover, like Anet likes to say, the journey itself should be rewarding, not what’s after it.
That doesn’t matter.
It’s undeniable that the reward system in place for fotm is and has been utter crap for pretty much forever – worse since the fractal patch yet we haven’t had the issue addressed.
It’s pathetic to leave your playerbase waiting around this long with such an embarrassingly awful system like that in place.
Some of us really like fractals just because we find them enjoyable to do but it doesn’t make it any less insulting to get nothing as your daily reward.
I’ve had it happen to me dozens and dozens of times as well and while I’m obviously used to it, it still makes me shake my head with disappointment. Same with getting duplicate skins.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
I have an alt filled to the brim with infused rings along with several bank tabs overflowing with them.
I <3 hoarding.
I hope one day they’ll allow us to salvage/forge them. Ugh. Please let this all pay off in the end.
Just thought I’d also post to let everyone know that truffle steak went from being third best DPS to first in a solo setting due to the might nerf. The lower power means that right now power is the very most important attribute given by food. But since we’re in a solo setting and don’t have an optimized crit chance, we want precision more than we want ferocity.
Truffle steak is now best and curry butternut squash went from first to third best, making it kind of pointless to use altogether due to the fact that it costs nearly twice as much anyways.
If you want to use them they’re obviously all good DPS choices, but I figured I’d pass on the advice to help save money.
Well to tell the truth, every game I played, I played as tank, I like the idea of controlling the whole fight, position the boss, keep my raid members out of danger.
I leave GW2 several times, mainly because of this reason, returned mainly for PVP, while you can try everything in GW2 PVP without investing any time to gearing and leveling, and Cele Ele at the moment fits my definition of fun.
Sometime, I get the crazy urge to enjoy the PVE game also, so I look to LFG, berserker only, 5000 AP (I play this game like for 2 years I still have 3500AP and I don’t why it is so important to have 5000AP), with a sad feeling I put my berserker gear and go in and die 5 times inside of 5mins run.
Well I accepts it is doable and fun in an organize group, but watching %20 of every boss fight in down state is most of the time is no fun.
I returned this time to the game because of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oueBpmhAU-o and I am running this build (thx god for the Tome of Knowledge in PVP) in fractals to my pleasure I have to say nobody is dying in my watch if they are paying attention to one shot mechanics and nobody complains.
I accept that might be overkill for COF P1/2 but I wished that it would not be kick reason while I just want to play this build.
This is a “learn to play” issue.
If you aren’t capable of playing in berserker gear like others, then don’t do it. It’s a choice.
But if an LFG ad requests/demands berserker gear and you don’t have it, then don’t join it. That would be just being a jerk.
I didn´t see anything special there. right after you kill him (and you were not alone and he was not fighting you), The engenier engage you and kill you whithout effort.
You didn´t show that HB is good dps, only that there are other ways to deal damage and i think no one here is discussing that point.
The OP just said that HB is under performing and you didn´t prove him wrong.
That’s because he was responding to everybody else. He was insulting OP for using signet of fury and for not using a terrible human racial skill instead of signet of rage (???) and thought showing a video of him jumping on an engi at half health was going to impress people.
Apparently I’m going to start losing viewers so everybody can marvel at his superhuman strength, pulling out a whopping TWO. THOUSAND. DAMAGE.
-insert squeals of excitement-
@PurpleMiku
Laugh while you still can, just pray that your viewers don’t stop watching you and migrate to my stream instead.
k good luck w/ that
So, I stopped watching the video when I saw signet of fury.
But here’s the thing, the OP complains about DPS Warrior being bad when he’s too scared to do risky plays with Zerker Stance. Uses signet of rage over rampage too. No wonder you’re getting bad results, it’s because you’re playing bad builds.
I guess now you realistically can’t really complain about “Warrior sucking” when you blow at theory crafting builds which is probably the easiest thing that you can do on the game.
^ My friends and I have been laughing at this post for over a day now, it’s just pure gold LMAO

Thanks for answering for me when I wasn’t able to, Nike. Much appreciated.
@hulmen.8713
If you truly wanted to perform at the top level that you can for warrior still, you can match the DPS of strength runes now provided you maintain 100% scholar uptime. The numbers are slightly off but strength runes end up being just barely better DPS when soloing, however not enough for me to justify telling people they should put them on a set if a person only has one armor set available. If you can, I suggest you have both a scholar set and a strength set because it will make it easier for you to determine what’s situationally best when soloing and in groups.
Ideally if you have the option to, you should have a scholar set and a strength set.
If you don’t have two sets and don’t want to make another, then just roll scholar.
Between scholar and strength in a solo setting, the difference is so small now thanks to the might nerf that it makes me regret putting strength on this set. I am tempted to overwrite them with scholar, as I personally have stopped doing solos for the most part on warrior (mostly because I’ve almost entirely switched to ele at this point).
Right now I suggest strength runes only for phalanx warrior, which is pretty much the most boring thing I can imagine with the low numbers it puts out. ._.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
To bring you back to reality – warrior simply wasn’t fair. Warrior used to have almost highest damage, most hp, armor, best buffs, they had everything. The damage reduction is pure fairness, you won’t get it back, deal with it.
The reason why Ele, War and Engi are masterrace in the current dungeon and fotm runs is, because no other class will increase the party damage more than them (exception reflection dungeons). The engi has the best vuln stacks, ele highest dmg and fury, war tons of passive buffs (banners) and might. Engi can be replaced with a 2nd ele going for the glyph of the storms in shorter bossfights though. But there will always be at least 1 war and 1 ele in every good party! Everything else is bad!
You’re factually incorrect though… it never was close to having the highest damage. It was above average at its peak when placed against all the other classes in optimal scenarios. The only thing that I’d really say wasn’t fair was healing signet which they reduced many months ago.
To say “warr, ele and engi are masterrace in current dungeon runs and fotm” is so… ill-informed. One of the very most skilled engi players that I know would be glad to tell you that while it’s a fun class that takes a lot of skill to play at a high level of gameplay, it’s not optimal.
If you really want to be accurate to describe what is and what is most efficient, ele/thief are the overall most dominant two classes in terms of overall utility and DPS contributions to groups and in terms of general smoothness of runs, either a guardian or a mesmer for certain fractals/bosses depending on whether or not portals are exceptionally useful.
To claim that a warrior is needed in every party is a bold statement, really. My very fastest ever fractal and dungeon runs were, in fact, not with warriors.
Watch the trio dungeons tournament next month, on March 28th/29th. You’ll see for yourself how useless useful warriors are.
I don’t know why any of you would refer to warrior as a god, in past or present tense. It’s never been best really – not even in a solo setting. Elementalist is and always has been the best of all classes before and after all of the nerfs.
The fact of the matter is that in the past, warrior not only dealt above average DPS but it provided banners and EA for buffing the whole party +150 power, which was pretty important for FGS fiery rush when optimizing considering it affected every damage tick.
Now we have the same thing but with crappy damage, bugged burst skills that never work with berserker’s power trait (rip eviscarate) and we never get to keep our adrenaline.
It seems that they obviously wanted to get a lot of people to quit playing warrior or something, otherwise they wouldn’t have neutered it so much. I wouldn’t be surprised if they nerfed it even more. They probably won’t stop until the rest of you join me and everybody else.
They do read the forums and they obviously listened to the people who whined about it long ago, as we saw healing signet and impale and longbow nerfed.
At this point comparatively speaking, it really is underwhelming to play now at a higher level of gameplay. Some of the best warrior players I know all moved to ele/engi for a while now and rarely touch their warriors.
It has a very passive/lazy playstyle, so lowering the damage that much just made it too depressing to play. I still miss it though and want them to improve it one day. I didn’t make an eternity + frostfang for it for no godkitten reason afterall.
(edited by Purple Miku.7032)
Either 10 or 11, with a lot of duplicates
Getting relatively close to my 2nd stack of pristines now. I wonder if I’ll get all of the skins by my third stack.
As far as I can tell the class only has problems on the forums, and not even on all of the forums. Just this one, where a few posters actively QQ on every thread.
In game and according to all the real people I talk with, Warriors are great.
You sacrificed any potential for your posts to have merit when you claimed celestial warrior to be effective in dungeons in that other thread.
Us “QQers” understand the class much more thoroughly and how it compares with the other 7, regardless of whether or not you agree with us.
Berserker stat’d gear is overrated IMO. It provides a slight increase in DPS for a huge lack of survivability. You’re not going to lose the dungeon or PVP simply because you have slightly less power.
Personally, I prefer to do a little mixing and matching. Valkyrie is a decent substitute for zerker with decent power and a lot more vitality.
I would pay no mind to the groups who insist you have to be level 99 with mandatory full legendary/ascended/zerker gear and a quaggan backpack to be cool enough to play with them.
Lmfao.
“Slight” increase in DPS. Sure.
It’s useful only because of banners and phalanx strength in PvE, extremely weak these days though.
You’d be better off rolling another class for the time being. Perhaps they’ll improve warrior from the hole they’ve dug it into, but it’s never a good idea to assume anything but the worst when it comes to their balance updates. :P
If you’re staff try going for this
If you’re D/F try going for this
The reason I suggested the traits listed in the staff build is that quick glyphs not only allows you to summon the rock elemental to tank for you more often, but allows you to sandstorm more often as well. You lose out of arcane lightning (+150 ferocity) so use it in situations that sandstorm actually pays off to use (not on dredge mobs, not on champions/legendary bosses).
For the D/F build you don’t take quick glyphs but instead can swap out arcane wave for arcane shield, and also have renewing stamina for permanent vigour as long as you’re always attacking.
The D/F build also has strength runes instead of scholar like the staff one. The reason for this is that strength runes are literally always a DPS loss compared to scholar when using staff, but can be good with D/F if you are in a solo situation (or bad group) and struggle to maintain scholar. Scholar is always the best DPS though and overall I avoid strength – I just suggest it here because in your first post you indicated that you weren’t using staff to begin with.
Avoid any and all builds in pug groups that involve scepter. Do not use it. It’s very bad to use it in pugs unless you’re prestacking might. D/F is also almost equivalent DPS to scepter+LH builds these days anyways.
So I listened to Tom and watched both Clannad and Clannad Afterstory…
it’s been almost a full day and I still feel depressed from it. By far the most beautiful yet sad stories I’ve seen/heard of before. Omg…
I remember some of us talked about it on a thread on this sub a while ago.
Hi there i just return to my warrior and heard alot of bad things about warrior. When i left warrior was still ok so what i want to ask is are they still doing ok in pve and wvw? I dont do pvp yah just want to understand more
Anything can work in any game mode.
In short, it really depends on how you play. If you just want to casually get stuff done… then yeah, it’s fine. Everything is.
If you care about efficiency, pushing your gameplay, competing with others and comparing what your class can do compared to the others and what it used to be able to do… then nah, it’s pretty bad now.
It went from being great to either average or lousy, depending on who you ask.
An isolated berserker warrior nowadays has worse DPS than what a warrior with no armor had a year ago.

It’s not an exploit in the sense that it’s abusing some sort of glitch/bug, but it’s an exploit in the sense that you’re taking advantage of something that wasn’t intended to be possible to do.
So in other words you won’t get banned for it, but because this is the most popular boss in all of dungeons there’s a lot of people, myself included, that absolutely hate the fact that this is possible to do and wish otherwise.
The main problem is that we know that if ArenaNet does anything about it, it’s not going to be pleasant. Think back to what they did with Malrona in TA up… they could’ve made it so that reflecting her projectile barrage attack doesn’t scale with damage from the poison when reflected but instead chose the easy/lazy route and made the attack unblockable/unreflectable. Inconsistency with one of the core mechanics of the game doesn’t really make a boss fight more interesting.
I and many others believe that if a day comes where they acknowledge this topic with Lupicus, they’re probably going to make his projectiles unblockable+unreflectable or something like that. While the warrior side in me thinks “haha that sounds FUN!”, I have to keep an open mind and understand that for mesmers/guardians that would be a total slap in the face.
That’s a fair point you guys bring up but dungeons were completely abandoned on GW2.
Because of that, I feel like they aren’t given as much of a chance to become as popular as they could be. Of course tons of people do them, including fractals, but because they’re the exact same paths with the exact same bugs/problems since launch, I feel like they could be so much more than they are now.
I don’t want to jeopardize the popularity of the literally only part of the game that I love. Sometimes I pug and I still remember back before ferocity was implemented when these dungeons actually were considered difficult to solo. Back then sure I’d be inclined to support something like this… but have any of you guys even tried soloing them now?
It’s really easy, if you try the lower dungeon paths (AC/CM/TA). Ferocity made us overpowered. If anything it kind of feels like they’ve already addressed this in a way, otherwise why else would they have done this last year?
I don’t support this.
The LFG tool would start dying out pretty fast because this would eliminate the need to use it.
Soloing dungeons should remain the way as it is. They’re all really easy to do if you know the path so I see no reason for them to be simplified/scaled.
