The “Angry Bird” easter egg in Ebonhawk. Harm the chicken in the farm enough and they will start becoming “Angry birds”
Legend of Zelda
The fact that anyone could make this mistake saddens me. What has become of the current generation?

The Clocktower was one of the greatest releases of Anet. Your thread title speaks volumes to why Liadri is so awesome, and more of the same needs to be provided in each bi-weekly update.
There are two kinds of challenging. The clocktower, and Liadri are not the good kind of challenging.
If anet insists on introducing more of these twitch reflex muscle memory puzzles where the only way to win is through trial and error, I don’t think I’ll stick around.
If you can do something without trial and error, then it isn’t much of a challenge. And to be clear, I haven’t beaten Liadri yet, but at no point will I complain to Anet that it’s bad content simply because I can’t do it. I need to L2P, and with practice and repetition, I will.
If you can’t do something without trial and error, where exactly is the challenge?
The challenge is learning from your mistakes, and applying the knowledge to the situations as they present themselves.
The kind of “challenge” that Liadri presents is not fun nor is it engaging. It is an exercise in frustration.
Here’s a for instance. Ozma from FFIX was challenging, but was also fun to fight. Chocobo racing for the sun sigil in FFX was more challenging than Ozma, but was more frustrating than fun. Liadri is more like chocobo racing than Ozma.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
You know, aside from the wallet, and champion loot, I don’t like this update either. More aetherblades, unreasonable difficulty in the queen’s gauntlet, and more “press F 30 times to win” achievements.
I’ll be battling this migraine far longer than I’ve battled Liadri.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
The countess is probably E. The mystery sylvari who Rox took potshots at is probably Scarlet. but yay for another month of killing aetherblades I guess.

I’ve just about given up. I know the mechanics inside and out, but I either screw up in phase one, or fail miserably in phase two. This fight is in the same vein as the clocktower, which is the bad kind of challenge.
No, it isn’t. Because you can’t make it. Doesn’t mean it is a bad kind of challenge.
Do I have to link that experienced points video again?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Clock Tower and Liadri, the only legit difficult achievements so far in this game…………………and people starting crying.
Because they’re difficult in all the wrong ways.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
…where the only way to win is through trial and error, I don’t think I’ll stick around.
not true at all, you can watch the battles from above and you could talk to people who’ve done the fight also. It’s actually awesome design, gambits are quite fun also… so you can make lower tier enemies more interesting.
I spent about an hour watching people fight, and fail. Everything changes when you enter the arena against Liadri.

It took me nine hours to complete the clocktower. I expect Liadri to take several days and over 10g in repair fees alone. Not to mention the 4 silver per ticket.

I haven’t had a look at the new content yet, but if it’s more of the same as the aether dungeon, then it might be worth bumping up this old topic of mine in the dungeon forum:
http://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/game/dungeons/to-Devs-Take-rangers-into-account/firstI’m basically asking the dungeon devs to limit themselves and take ranger pets into account while designing their dungeons, or otherwise push the other devs to improve the ranger pet mechanics in dungeons so the dungeon devs don’t have to limit themselves.
ANet is a giant wall that people talk to. Their company icon is actually very appropriate.
If Anet designed dungeons around ranger pets, they would be dreadfully boring. The problem is, ranger pets and challenging content simply don’t mix. And if Anet’s vision of the ranger isn’t going to change in the near future, neither is our situation.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Did you know that traited spirits only have a little more than 8000 health? Anyone who complains about spirit rangers being OP needs to learn how to focus fire their spirits immediately after they drop them.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
You get divided by zero.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
This actually disheartens me. I always enjoyed doing quests in older MMOs, and the renown hearts sort of scratched that itch for me. I found Orr and Southsun Cove to be terribly boring areas to explore without hearts.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I was going to have each character decide for themself who to vote for with the tokens that each of them obtained… and then I realized that dragging all 16 alts up to the Zephyr Sanctum would be a colossal pain in the butt and banked the whole stack for my main to deal with.
He’s a Human Elementalist, a Nobleman who has stern views about Honor and Honesty. When he received the first attempted bribe from Gnashblade, his votes were decided. He would have thrown his support behind pretty much anyone else if it meant striking down the dishonest coward who thought his vote could be bought. Lucky for him, Kiel presents the kind of reputable persona that very much appeals to him in contrast. I didn’t play GW1, so him being a Charr is no biggie to me… and my main’s best friend and longtime research partner in the Durmand Priory is a Charr Engineer. Melchior doesn’t obsess over Ascalon these days any more often than I raise my fist to the sky and curse Canada in memory of the war of 1812.
Also, I don’t do fractals and don’t buy from the Black Lion store any more, so I couldn’t care less about the outcome beyond the RP aspect.
Even in video games, we don’t vote for the candidate we like. We vote against the one we hate.

Man, this game can’t keep my attention for more than 10 minutes at a time anymore. I used to have fun with the new content, but I started to ask myself what the point was. With every single mmorpg I’ve played, there was always a goal, no matter if it wakittenting max level, getting a certain type of gear, or exploring new areas. I have no goals left at all for Guild Wars 2 once I hit 80 and got exotic gear. I feel like people only play on patch days and the rest of the days are boring with no people playing at all. I just moved on because I felt like I actually had goals in other games.
And yet you’re still here trying to make arguments where there are none.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
There are 2.5 million players logging in every week. The game is getting new content every 2 weeks and much has been done to improve the core game and rewards systems.
Pulling numbers out of thin air i see.
It was actually published on the Chinese website.
So no official announcement from Anet. My point exactly. And that website made this announcement purely for marketing purposes in China. Anyone can make those numbers up.
If I’m not mistaken, “that website” belongs to Anet.
And how that’s that help us? Are we sure that 2.5 actual individual player accounts log in every week or is it like McDonald’s has their x million customers served, meaning they count each log in. So if you log in 10 times, you count as 10 customers….Marketing is a funny thing you see.
Anet posted the statistics, maybe you should ask them.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Read the manifesto, people. Anet said, “we want you to play how you want to play without being hindered.” Yeah, of course Ranger’s and Engineer’s dps is fine. But only with certain builds. I play a longbow ranger and do 10% of the damage any other class does. Kids, please stop being positive with an undying loyalty to dead classes. If you continue saying that Rangers are good, nobody will fix them an they will stay a dead class forever. The only half decent builds with the Ranger use the Shortbow. But please, if you think Rangers are good, by all means, play the class which I guarantee the people defending the Rangers don’t play. Again, please play the class so I can destroy you in 2 seconds. I see a Ranger shooting me in PvP? I completely ignore them and shrug off the minuscule damage they deal to me. And this is coming from a scepter ele. The squishiest class in the game besides the thief.
…You have never actually played a ranger have you?
The only half decent builds with the Ranger use the Shortbow.
This is so far beyond incorrect I don’t think words capable of describing it even exist.

Stealth is only really useful in PvP in low skill brackets.
Abilities should not be balanced around the lowest skill brackets.
Abilities should not be balanced around the smallest portion of the game either.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
the fact that thiefs has a good amount of stunebreakers and stealth clears there conditions, i would say that they need to have a longer time where they cant enter stealth and then they get reveald each time they exit stealth.
Contrary to popular belief, thieves do not have “a lot of stunbreakers” since the MH Sword nerf. We have the same number of stunbreaks as any other profession, 5, but unlike other professions we do not get easy access to stability, invulnerability, block, aegis, or protection…and currently without stealth (i.e. at least 10 in Shadow Arts) we have a max of 3 (4 if mainhand sword) damage condition clears, forcing many to invest into Shadow Arts(stealth trait line) if they want a chance at the closest thieves get to a sustained fight.
So, basically, you’re saying your in the same boat as everyone except guardians. I don’t know about you, but my ranger would kill a baby quaggan to have access to as much stealth as a thief.
And I still think stealth is a broken mechanic that needs to be reworked into something that offers more counterplay. “Spam AoE in random directions” is not a counter to stealth.

Here’s an example of good pet system:
Pets have their own inventory, can learn spells, can be transformed temporarily or permanently into other creatures by feeding them certain fish, sell your unwanted inventory in town and will return with requested items from your shopping list. (Torchlight 2)
This. So much this.
All of my this.
I want to go buy Torchlight 2 now.

I think there is a relatively simple solution to the safety concerns. Introduce an item that can be purchased from in game merchants that costs 10g to buy from the merchant and also sells 10g to the merchant. In addition this must not be storable in the wallet but stackable in your bank tabs. Can come in denominations of 1g, 10g, 100, 1000g. You now have a way to store gold in the form of an item. I am assuming that given this is an item, the technical implementation should be simple.
Reminds me of a similar “10 million big note” that you could obtain in another MMO. But there it was used as a way to store currency beyond the limit of coins one could carry.
That would certainly be safer than the buggy guild system …
But it wouldn’t stop people from “accidentally” going: right click>destroy, and losing their entire savings in three mouse clicks.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Incidentally, those screenshots of the Crown Pavillion make it look like the hole is still there. It’s just been refurbished into a giant sunken gladiatorial arena.
Why fill in the hole when you can just throw a coat of paint on the walls and call it the worlds deepest gladiator pit?

Bear in mind that Zhaitan rose over 100 years ago in-game, and Primordus rose over 200 years ago. These guys have been around for quite some time, so devouring the world obviously takes a while.
And…the world still held parties during this time.
I thought it was Zhaitan who rose first. From what I understand, Primordus was the last of the elder dragons to awaken, due to the events which forestalled its awakening in GW:EN.
Otherwise, why does Zhaitan have such a large foothold in Tyria, while primordus has nothing more than a few isolated groups of destroyers? Don’t get me wrong, destroyers are almost as numerous as risen, but Primordus has nothing compared to Orr.

Now all my characters are going to have access to all my gold all the time. Which is a bad thing and causes people to start wasting gold more often cause they have it available all the time now.
Guess we can call this a new form of a GOLD SINK then.
I smell a conspiracy.

You did not read my post properly. It is not an option. It is not possible without touching core systems. Which will have other consequences. An MMO is a very complex thing.
So what your telling us is: Removing a key feature from the personal bank doesn’t touch any core systems, but adding a completely new feature while leaving the bank as is would require you to alter core systems.
I may not be a programmer, but something about that statement just seems backwards to me.
He’s not a programmer either. He has no idea how the digital cogs work. In the future, he should refrain from posting comments, in regards to topics outside of his own area of expertise.
I will ignore the tone of your post so I can give an answer that is relevant for other people: The information I passed along was coming directly from the programmer who implements the system. I think he is qualified to address this.
I’m going to go ahead and assume you were paraphrasing what this programmer said. Is there any you can phrase it so that it makes more sense to those of us who aren’t as tech savvy?
Or is it merely a rebuilding of the current gold storage system, which would require an entirely new gold storage system to be created?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
When I think of stealth, I think of Elder Scrolls style stealth. Sneaking around out of sight of your target without actually being invisible. I realize this wouldn’t work well against players, but being able to become completely invisible by stabbing or shooting someone? That’s just silly.
Blinding powder makes sense, and perhaps shadow refuge. The stealth that really needs to be toned down is cloak and dagger.
Perhaps stealth should be a functionality of blind.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Lol are all the mesmer paragons now venturing into ranger territory?
next Fay and Osicat are gonna post too!
On topic:
If I am not mistaken, axe 5 is indeed the only reflect (projectiles only), though rangers get alot of evades. (GS #1, Sword #2, #3, Dagger #4)
Though the question is directed at Razor:
I believe spirits are best used with a ranged weapon to keep them out of the AoE and benefit greatly from a high attack rate. Hence Longbow might be viable:
With eagles eye you can fight at 1500 range.
Though the auto attack is slow, LB #2 has a chance to trigger spirits with every shot, so does Barrage (LB #5)
As for axe you get Split blade where each of the five axes has a chance to trigger the spirits , as well as a bouncing auto attack.
For the birds of horn #4 I do not know weather they trigger the spirits.
But horn #5 might synergize nicely with the spirits active effects(ice field).
Nice to see the mesmers taking so much interest in rangers! I main a mesmer too after giving up my ranger in frustration …
- My main is a ranger. Mesmers are still better at support.
- Axe 5 is our only reflect. Evades don’t do anything for anyone but yourself.
- If your spirits are standing next to you at 1500 range, you aren’t supporting the rest of your group in melee range (spirits have a radius of 900).
- All spirits except frost spirit have an internal cooldown of 10 seconds on their effects.
- Spirits do not create combo fields.

I was really hoping for some sort of personal waypoint device. Something that would enable you to teleport to a location of your choosing from anywhere in the game, or at the very least, return you to your race’s home city.
I’m disappointed.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I don’t understand this post. Why do you need a one man guild to manage your gold? If you didn’t know that you could deposit gold in your bank, you do now. And if you have so much gold that you hit the gold cap, I don’t know what to say…other than you have way too much gold and should send me a couple thousand to get myself a legendary.
The ability to store gold in the bank goes away. What you used to have in the bank is added to what was in your inventory (and the inventory of all the characters on an account), and the total of all of those appears in the inventory of each character on the account. Make sense now?
I suppose, but all that means to me is “I’ll have to pay more attention when clicking through a merchant’s inventory.”
I don’t see any reason to be up in arms about it.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Caudecus has formed an alliance with the aetherblades, and they plan to use their technology to corrupt the queen’s new wind-up-toys. Enjoy another month of killing aetherblades. But hey, at least this time you get to beat up some reskinned golems to break up the monotony.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Are you going to delete all the extra gold you have obtained through the gold find infusion in the days/weeks/months you had the infusion equipped?
I didn’t think so. So what makes you think you’ll get a refund for something you’ve already used and benefitted from?
What if it was a recent purchase?
You still don’t deserve a refund. You’ve got 5 days to make the most of that gold find inscription. So munch down those omnomberry bars and run CoF until your eyes bleed.
…That’s why you got the inscription in the first place isn’t it?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
No you’re not. And no, you don’t deserve a refund.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Anyway, disappointed that the rapier is going to be released in this manner. Prices on the trading post are bound to be absurd, 200+ gold if not higher. I wish it had been another 800 gem BL store skin.
Why don’t you whine harder? Champion drops are fine, just go kill that oakheart in queensdale till you get it. Beats rng or real $ solutions.
queensdale has so many champions… it’ll never get out of overflow now.
I would wager that some champions drop weapon skins unique to them, or unique to their level bracket. It doesn’t make sense to farm the easiest champions for the best loot.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Having read the thread, I’ve just created a one-person guild to be able to manage my gold myself. My guildmates will be doing the same thing.
I’m not happy about having to deal with this because the design did not take into account an option that allows players to manage their gold on a character by character basis. Not happy about having to create a one-off guild, nor manage it in order to handle something that was already easily managed via current game mechanics. Not happy that “new and improved” breaks something “tried and true”.
However, I’ve learned over the decades that many developers make changes they THINK are good without understanding the entire impact on their system, their customers and most importantly, their customers’ experiences.
Any intuitive change to a complex system will inevitably leave that system worse off.
Given the dev responses here, it is clear, again, that I and my guildmates are a minority that will just (continue to) be ignored. We are mostly happy with 90% of this addition. The last portion goes in the “things that ANet does that makes us grind our teeth” bucket.
-Happy for those that _are_100% satisfied with this change.

Mesmers are better at support. Portals, reflects, mass stealth, and boon stripping are far better support than rangers bring to the table. Unless your group is really hurting for a water field, or an extra ~12% damage (spotter+frost spirit), I would take a mesmer over a ranger any day of the week.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I’m on the opposite side of Fjandi. Power builds for Rangers are awful. They still have no group utility. They still have no ranged burst. Melee is still reliant on evade spam in order to function as well as it does.
The ranger continues to be a condition class, but the worst condition class in the game.
Both bows continue to be the worst weapon options for the class.
So, spotter, spirits, and healing spring don’t count as group utility? Outside of warriors and HGH engineers, I can’t think of that many classes that have a really solid ranged burst. Going melee shouldn’t require you to spam evades to be effective? Someone should go tell thieves and mesmers they’re doing it wrong.
As for the worst condition class, they’re certainly behind necros, maybe slightly behind engineers, but hitting the bleeding cap in less than 4 seconds is an awesome sight.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
How many more questions will be posted in this thread before someone gives an answer!?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Will we be able to use event finisher, like the Gift Finisher we had at Wintersday, as a permanent finisher ?
I suppose, as long as you still have one.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Disappointment and sadness.
I’ve gotta go with this answer, sadly. Why? Because we’re talking about a fractal. We’re not talking about a large scale event or epic story that happens over a large amount of time. We’re talking about a maybe 30 minute mini dungeon with little to no actual playable story and designed for repetition via tiered challenge. I have nothing personal against ANet but, to properly tell either tale, there needs to be more than the sort of framework they’re working in.
I also still feel that the likelihood of the much vaunted Abaddon fractal being an underwater one is fairly high, which is something no one seems to be considering.
People oft forget that Abaddon was a god of water, as well as secrets.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I’ve never had a moment where I said “I wish I had a Ranger in the party”. At least Thieves have that sometimes. I groan a bit when a Ranger shows up to the party and isn’t planning on swapping to a more useful class.
actually I had…
mostly on dungeons when I started as a guardian and there was no ranger sometimes there was situations I thought “crap I could have better use there with my ranger than guardian…”
really and seriously I had
I actually ran the aetherblade retreat on my guardian after doing it several times on my ranger. I was hands down the worst guardian you have ever seen. It taught me that I can’t handle playing more than one class.
Get good with ranger>get worse with guardian.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
You are not going to get a refund OP. They don’t normally refund for player error. The guy who salvaged his Legendary weapon didn’t get a refund. It’s not a bug just because it didn’t have a warning. Many items don’t have a warning concerning salvaging. They will just tell you to be more careful next time.
I’m fairly certain you can’t salvage legendary weapons. Though I’m not sure about transmuted legendaries.
He said he salvaged it. I assumed he would know.
And there is this. A quick google for Guild Wars 2 salvage Legendary pulled it up.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aNCmLTAzSso&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DaNCmLTAzSsoOMG! I almost cried when I saw that……WHY? He could have made someone very happy and gave it to them instead (like me) :P I will never be able to afford one, and to see something like this is so sad.
It was soulbound.
