I mean experimental remnant is cheaper than orrian steak frittes and deals 5-6% more damage in raids but I’m sure that 700hp is very important
Considering you would need to consume 3 of them to match the uptime of one orrian steak fritte, they wind up costing roughly the same. Frittes are probably cheaper if you craft them yourself.
As for 5-6% more damage, I wouldn’t know….I don’t care enough about raids to do the math.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I’ll stick with my orrian steak frittes thanks. I don’t care enough about being optimal to spend 50 silver for a 30 minute buff.

Uh, Necro can survive just fine without minions. I did CM yesterday with my guild and was fine, didn’t die once – no minions on my bar at all, swapped out Lich for CTTB. Had no problems in the new map or story. Not had any issues with my Lich Form minions either (running the MB Viper Horror build still) so I’m not really sure what to suggest for you. I don’t want to say ‘git gud’, but Necro is just fine right now. We got away lightly with the changes in this patch.
kitten off, white knight. I was talking to ANet, not you. I don’t care how determined you are to kitten-lick, I am not interested in your pro-corp, brown-nosing gurglings. I don’t want to have to say “gitgud” with your reading comprehension, but gitgud with your reading comprehension. You made unwarranted assumptions. I have no minions on my skill bar, only Rise, which was nerfed to death. Is that clear enough so that even you understood it?
I think you need to git gud.
I’m doing just fine after the nerf to Rise. I hardly notice a difference.

I’m putting all of my legendary weapon projects on indefinite hiatus because of this. Zerged around for a while in WvW, barely made any progress, and left feeling utterly drained.
If you did an hour of Edge of Mists each night for your Dailies you get WvW potions, these potions give you track reward points, each one gets you a chest. Of course getting those Dailies means finding a player with a commander tag that also knows what they are doing, depending on your server it shouldn’t be that hard to do.
That was my initial intention, but I just can’t bring myself to spend an hour a day doing something I don’t enjoy; for however long it would take me to earn 3 gifts of battle.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I’ll never understand how anyone can play with shaders set to high. That weird spotlight effect on my character’s armor completely kills it for me. I leave my shaders set to medium always.

Reaper…because scythes are cool.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I really wish the watchwork pick didn’t give sprockets. It really decentivises using anything else…
I agree.
…and I really wanted to buy that cosmic mining tool too.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
SW is unique in this way, it sometimes has more than 1 rich node but records/remembers your limited to 1 so it treats the second as a normal.
I don’t think this is the case. Rich nodes aren’t always limited to one per map. Kessex hills often has 2-3 rich iron nodes, and they all give the full amount of strikes.
The rich node in SW is bugged, and always gives 2-3 strikes, regardless of whether or not there’s another rich node in the map.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Applying non damaging conditions to nearby ambient creatures is usually the culprit. I had this problem on my necromancer until I stopped using rending shroud (pulse vuln to nearby foes while in shroud)
Check your traits and skills.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I get this error every day around reset. It really sucks when I’m trying to kill Tequatl.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I don’t see why this is a problem. Solar beam already hits like a wet noodle soaked in weaksauce.
If anything, the damage should be buffed by another 25%.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I say this as a person who loves doing jumping puzzles: I don’t care if people get portals to the end, and I don’t think it needs to be changed.
Agree. I refuse to use portals though.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Dusk is one of the few precursors that is cheaper to buy. I had actually crafted it and none of the collection items for it were all that difficult or time consuming.
If you purchase the base materials using buy orders, and craft all the deldrimor steel/elonian leather yourself, it should be slightly cheaper to craft than to buy. But it’ll take you at least 90 days to craft unless you already have a stockpile of mithrillium.
For the record, I crafted dusk. I’m not sure if I saved any gold…but it was a long and tedious process. I recommend just buying it.

Reading through this post and am depressed at the people who spend hundreds of dollars on tools for multiple characters and think it’s an alright deal…
Depressed that people like to support their MMOs? Ultimately that’s why I buy gems, the tools are a useful sink for those gems. I’ve still spent less on GW2 in the past 4 years than I have on MMO subscriptions in the past.
Regardless, that’s the deal that was offered. Anyone who bought these tools should have known that.
In contrast, I’ve spent more on GW2 in the past 4 years than I would have for a typical MMO subscription. I’m a sucker for shiny things.
But I will never buy another unlimited mining tool as long as the watchwork pick exists (and gives watchwork sprockets).
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Honestly, after all the jumping puzzles and their monthly requirements of the past, I hope never to do another one again.
To each his own. I miss monthly achievements.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
The infinite harvesting tools in the gem store have always seemed like a bad deal to me, even for 1 character. A copper-o-matic is 800 gems, which is a flat $10, for something I use every 30 seconds. The harvesting tools are 1000 gems, so a $20 minimum each, and I use them much less frequently.
In addition, unlike the copper-o-matic, which I use regularly in all game modes, the harvesting tools only get used when I’m about to burst farm an area. Since I have to prepare for the burst anyway (usually by switching characters to my speedy thief, using speed boosts, et cetera), going to the kodan merchant in LA to pick up some spare harvesting tools for like 20 silver really isnt that inconvenient.
I addition, you really need all 3 on one character for it to be convenient at all, since if you have 1 or 2, you will make the same number of trips to a merchant to refill on tools.
I am confused…how is 800 Gems 10 dollars, and 1000 Gems 20 dollars? For me, anyway, 1000 Gems is $12.50.
I think the point there is: Since you can’t buy 1000 gems, you have to spend $20 to get enough gems for an unlimited gathering tool. Then you have a bunch of gems leftover that you didn’t necessarily need. It’s an underhanded marketing tactic that I wish MMO developers would move away from.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Take all of the gems you would spend on unlimited tools, exchange them for gold. Use gold to buy a permanent merchant contract off the TP. Put in shared inventory.
You now have unlimited gathering tools for as many characters as you want to make.
Except that there is a still a cost at the merchant, and the picks do not drop sprockets.
Orichalcum gathering tools cost a whopping 4 silver each. That’s a cost of 4 copper per swing for the axe/pick, and 8 copper for the harvesting sickle. As for lack of watchwork sprockets, you got me there.
Still, if you think buying unlimited gathering tools is more economical than using orichalcum tools, you are mistaken (with the exception of the watchwork pick).

they are all sorts of off.
I looked at a wep wielded first.
then look at it stowed and cry.Its like HALF as big. =( How long has this been broken?
That only happens in the preview window…unless you play an Asura.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
What Sartharina said. You don’t need to remove the old runes to put new ones in; just double click on the runes, and then choose the pieces you want to put them in. If, for some reason, you do want to keep the runes (if they’re expensive and good to sell on the TP for gold, for example), you have a couple of options. If it’s non-karma-bought exotics, you can use a black lion salvage kit on each piece to get the rune back (100% chance of getting it back). If it was bought with karma, your only option is to buy new runes or buy an upgrade extractor.
Keep in mind, if you use a salvage kit to get the runes back (even a black lion kit) you will lose the armor piece to which the rune was attached.

Unless they allow us to move when using WD, give us stability while channeling. Me and others have suggested this before. Pretty much for the same reasons we have stability on CA#5.
so use a stability skill?
I tried but then I got interrupted.
My reaper has the same problem sometimes.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
It needed movement or damage and they gave it damage. I think it’s fine as-is now. If I were going to change anything it would be replacing the retal with some bleeding so as to make it play nicer with condi builds.
Replacing the retaliation with stability would make me use it more. It’s too prone to CC, and in order to pull it off successfully, you need to blow a utility/elite with a long cooldown.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Can you explain how full zerker with chest, leggings, and a ring assassin is the most flexible?
Chest, leggings and ring are those with the highest stats, so they are utmost efficient at being swapped out for the biggest change.
If you swap those three from zerker to assassin, it’s like you replaced the whole armor from zerker to assassin while leaving the ring zerker in that case.
Yet an assassin ring is raid exclusive, wich makes it a bit less popular.
Phantasms also get a damage boost when you’ve equipped an ascended (main hand) weapon.
When are rangers going to get this?
When rangers pet stats depend on the stats of the ranger. Imagine, if you will, having to build full zerk to get the same damage from your bristleback or smokescale. That in order for your bear to be the meat shield it is then you must go full soldiers.
You’d like that right? No? Stop complaining then. At least your pet doesn’t disappear in a cloud of pink butterflies when the enemy dies!
I’m pretty sure he meant it analogous to Mes and Engi: When the Ranger equips an ascended weapon, pets should deal 5% more damage.
He never mentioned anything about inheriting stats.
Precisely. Of course, I wouldn’t be opposed with ranger pets inheriting stats from the ranger, so long as they inherit other things, like boons and food/utility buffs. Unlike mesmers, who can crap out phantasms almost endlessly, when a ranger’s pet dies in combat, swapping it out puts it on a hefty cooldown.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Then why is every group convinced that they don’t? Because they’d rather just tote a bajillion Tempests around?
Because they know a tempest has the best burst damage in the game right now. That’s just the way it is.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Can someone answer my question about why Viper is preferred over Pahua’s? I definitely like the condition damage being top dog. But, I don’t like dying all the time, which seems to be what happens to typical power/precision builds.
I’m a power reaper, but the principle is the same. people prefer vipers because they don’t need defensive stats to survive. Reapers already have really high passive defenses with shroud and minions.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
They should but they don’t. Way back when I first entered HoT maps I thought the mordrem would count towards the plant slayer achievement and then found out they don’t. Still not entirely sure what does count for that achievement though………
Strangely enough, ranger spirits count towards plant slayer. Even your own. Unless of course Anet fixed after I last noticed.
Edit: it looks like this was fixed. Carry on.

-BnooMaGoo.5690
“Rise!” is usually fine since the minions are on a pretty short timer. I’ve never had any complaints using it in dungeons. But as I only use it for the damage reduction, I tend to not need it unless I got stuck with a horribad group. I’ll also bring a flesh golem if my group isn’t breaking those break bars fast enough. Just be aware that your golem may decide to do something stupid.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Whirling defense hits like a TRUCK. Im talking when buffed upwards of 16-17k dps in a marauder amulet against things like eles.
Being able to chase someone while moving with that skill WOULD make it over powered.
Axe off hand I really dont feel needs buffs. What I feel DOES need buffs is the sword movement skills. To make them more reliable movement or evade skills (pick one). That would buff axe offhand by proxy.
Really. In PvE, I get around 3k DPS. Perhaps you’re referring to the total damage over the duration of the skill?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
As someone who has recently created a mesmer, I find this thread very informative.
Thoughts on power vs condi for open world/dungeons?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
And, how does he move from the left console to the right after he triggers left?
Looks like he used Consume Conditions to cleanse the imob.
I mean, how did he move. You’re immobilized when you trigger a console.
Consume conditions removes all conditions from you (including immobilize).
-BnooMaGoo.5690
So I made a mesmer. I wasn’t able to replicate the armor exactly (no access to tribal gloves) but I think it looks decent. Still tweaking the colors and deciding if I like mesmers or not.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Double post, but I still really want to make this particular sylvari (armor and all). I suppose I could make him an elementalist, but I never cared for the ele playstyle. Maybe I’ll make him a mesmer.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
My ranger and I had a bit of a falling out after I discovered how much I disliked the druid spec. I was also going to make a sylvari necromancer for HoT, but I couldn’t argue with the moustache.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Thanks for the feedback! How come that force is so much more expensive than bloodlust? Especially in wvw the 25 stacis take very few time.
PvE is where most players are and bloodlust is pretty lackluster in content where sigils really matter like raids/fractals/dungeons. In some of them it’s not even possible to get 25 stacks and they will reset when you die.
So if I don’t do raids/fractals/dungeons, and I rarely die, then would bloodlust be preferable?
-BnooMaGoo.5690
we’ve already done the work to earn the Badges of Honor,
Yes, many work, very effort, WOW!
You’re gotta be kidding me with this argument…
I had to spend nearly 3 days in WvW to reach rank 14 so I could buy gifts of battle. That was 3 days longer than I wanted to spend there.
I absoluely detest WvW if you couldn’t already tell.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
I always thought those adventurer’s specs looked like a bad Photoshop job.

Salvage has a max AP cap.
The Bandit repeatable has a max AP cap.If it’s repeatable, it does need a cap at some point. 15k is A LOT of AP just from Dailies(Dailies/Monthlies). Right now that is little less then half of what is listed. 15 000, and you only get 10 a day right now. Yes. It does need a cap.
A poor comparison at best. Daily is limited to once a day. Salvage can be done hundreds of thousands of times per day.
At launch, Agent of Entropy had no AP cap. A few people used it to reach over 25k AP in just a few months. Anet quickly capped it (and every other infinitely repeatable achievement) and rolled back the AP of everyone who had exceeded the cap.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Zhaitan took them all. Apparently he doesn’t like to share.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Reaper = roll face on keyboard to win.
It’s kind of fun though.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
They have taken up one of the possible pve dailies with this jp trash. They are a requirement for a daily. If they were not in the rotation for dailies then I could agree with you the they are not required gamelplay.
There are 4 PvE dailies in rotation. Only 1 PvE daily can be a JP. You only need to complete 3 dailies to earn your 10 AP/2 gold.
Not. Required. Gameplay.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
Ah yes, the infamous Shroom of Doom. And Aramil has your answer; trying to jump directly onto the tilted shroom itself is a trap. The correct route is to jump onto the STEM of that mushroom, and then jumping from that onto to the cap. Just be careful not to overshoot the stem jump.
I jump directly on to the shroom every single time. You just have to angle your jump so you land on the lowest part of the mushroom.

Sometimes your mini can become unchecked after the game hides it, either in high population maps or when gliding etc.
It’s been around since HoT launched, and I haven’t seen any posts from the anet addressing the issue. It probably isn’t on their radar.
Edit, sometimes your mini will become unchecked when logging in or changing maps.

Try to ditch ranged weaponry on a power-based build in favor of Dagger/Focus and Greatsword (maybe Warhorn offhand instead of Focus if you prefer that, but I value the raw damage and “burstier” LF-generation on Focus over yet another CC on warhorn)
As Reaper, you are very sustainable anyway and learning to stick in melee all the time is going to help you a lot.
Basically this. I melee everything.
-BnooMaGoo.5690
How many points in the HoM do you have?
50
M-M-M-M-M-MONSTER KILL!Seriously, you crazy.
I burned out at 49.
Capping elite skills is hard yo.

Sprocket pick is only current sources of sprockets aside the home node (for those of us that have one)
If they nerf the pick price will soar.
Don’t think there’s any chance of this, fortunately – because we paid real money (gems) for that pick (IE potential breach of contract) and they need a source of sprockets. Could always change the drop rate if there are too many about – won’t matter to farmers as price will rise, we still get paid.
I like the idea of adding the sprocket chance to a utility infusion, as someone suggested in another thread. Then send everyone who currently owns a watchwork pick one of these infusions for free.
I really like the concept of utility infusions, and wish Anet would do more with them.
I kinda like this idea.. sorta. I mean, if they put in a “Sprocket” infusion, everyone would ask for some other Infusion to be made as well, and then you have “Sprocket” and “Candy Corn” and “Crystal” and then, they would want the infusion to work on Wood and Harvesting nodes, since it’s an infusion, it should, and after a bit, you have people that hit something with a pick and get 10 items.. none of them ore…
While that would be funny, I am not sure if that would be such a good idea overall.
Well, since amulets are the only items with utility infusion slots, you’d only be able to equip one utility infusion at a time, so I think it would be fine.
That means you would be forced to equip only amulets that had a utility infusion, to be able to use that ability…. In a cute kinda way that would be funny, it would also generate some serious salt mind you.
Ascended amulets aren’t exactly difficult to acquire. Carrying an extra one around wouldn’t be a big deal. And you can still put normal versatile infusions in utility slots.
