@colin
maby you should than not make a blogpost with things you will give us this year BUT
a blogpost with things you work on
i guess people would be happy to read things like: we work on housing but far from release, we have 3 dungeons in beta status, we had to restart work on precursor crafting and its back to alpha status ………
something like this
That would also break the company policy of what we’re allowed to discuss in regards of what is in development
Though I wonder if we went a little more broad and kept a rolling “top categorical issues” the community team communicated or owned that summarizing high level things the development team is aware of and might or might not be working on, but see’s as core fundamental issues to address, and players just had constant brainstorm threads on those topics – if it’d at least get us halfway there.
Although it isn’t my place to comment directly on company policy, I will say that in the other MMO games – including certain Funcom and Turbine games, I can state what they are working on in a broad sense and they even email out forthcoming news, even if it’s not ready or near to release, in the form of a newsletter. Details gets released as and when, but broadly, I know what is coming and the community in a generalised sense keeps its expectations for timelines in check. Because they feel communicated with. I have no idea whatsoever what is on the horizon in GW2. At all.
At the end of the day, you can’t stop disgruntlement or moaning. It’ll happen even if you tell us 100% of what is coming. You know that. I know that, most of us know that. But, the majority of the community are invested in your game and want an idea of where we are going, perhaps more out of enthusiasm and excitement than anything else. Some relaxation of your policy can only be beneficial.
Although I’ll still play the game even if you don’t, since I enjoy it and that’s the main thing

You wait all year for some devs and they all turn up at once ;D
Good to see the focus back on communication and to read through the dev tracker and see some positive discussion going on across the subforums. Going hand in hand with the excellent content in S2, this is a great turn of direction for the game and the community.
You are players who love the game like we do, but are privvy to what could be coming. The community are players who love the game, but have nothing concrete to look forward to. That common goal and disparity should help find the bridge you need.

This has been answered categorically in the wvw thread by a dev. Due to the feedback from the community a very hasty change was made and 2 devs worked over the weekend at short notice to sort this for our benefit.
There was no trolling, no conspiracy.

Good work to the team then who worked hard to get it done and for listening. Thank you
And importantly, hopefully lessons were learned from a design P.O.V on such things for the future.
New starter experience maybe?
Have to say sounds unlucky. I never see that in Orr. There aren’t many ppl there, but what I do see is usually well coordinated.
Also, most people will be in Dry Top, since the currently desired rewards are largely there.
The Mordrem Wolves being different from Overgrown Hounds could mean that Overgrown Hounds are a direct creation of Mordremoth out of plants while Mordrem Wolves are wolfs corrupted by Mordremoth rather than just being spawned by him.
The EDs can’t create life, they can only corrupt it.
I thought primordus minions were life created from inanimate?
And the party continues, with the SAB ninja!
Remember, this is a fun community event – please keep discussion respectful to players and devs alike no matter the opinion on the subject
(and yes that is Scarlet….)
:)

It’s tricky because GW2 releases content differently to other MMO’s, which is part of the appeal to many. There was an excellent listing on the forums once of all the things still in game that are permanent, since a large portion of 2013 content was temporary sadly.
since 2012 off the top of my head that is still in game;
- New zone + elder dragon + minions + events + story
- new WVW map
- champions drop lootboxes which can contain t6 mats/rares/exotic and above
- meta bosses have new timers plus improved guaranteed rewards.
- crafting goes to 500
- new tier of armour and weapons – Ascended
- new wardrobe system for customising looks
- 3 new fractals
- 1 new dungeon path, plus revamps of old ones
- megaservers increase population on maps
- Tequatl is now an open world raid with exclusive loots
- new very hard open world raid Triple Headed Jungle Wurm. AGain with exclusive rewards
- Achievement points for a wider range of activities
- New mini games
- Lions Arch in ruins after a massive battle
- Various profession balances
- Exclusive events for Guilds, including bounties/rushes/puzzles/exploration
- New jumping puzzle(s)
- Lots of new armour skins in gem store
- lots of new weapon skins from champion boxes
- LFG mode
and of course, all the temporary storylines/festivals/open world battles/map changes which you will have missed
For some that is satisfactory, to others it isn’t. GW2 had a strong core base with a huge map, so we were quite spoilt in some ways, but I can understand why people expect more. Realistically this game is completely free after you have purchased it, so the best way to find out…is to try it
SAB Guild and EU map conga line
No arguing please in thread guys. Agree or disagree, the choice is free to make. Just keep it civil, constructive and fun
Yes, no matter of opinion – support or against, please keep the thread civil. This has spawned a fun community event and it would be good to keep the fun going
Screenie from Gunnars Hold (Im the one with the boombox)
I shall bring my SAB boombox!
Possibly unintentionally. Who knows what effect us stepping into The Machine had. Maybe Mord or other Elder Dragons have access to our thoughts
Yeah each characters birthday will generate a mail for that toon with the relevant gifts. If I had made an alt on 25th Aug 2013, I would get the 2nd birthday gift on my main and the 1st birthday gift on the alt.
Yeah def sounds like the 1st birthday gifts for a 1 year old character, but a screenie of the mail would show for sure.
Really? Headtstart birthdays haven’t begun yet surely? Certainly not on my account, and my first toon was in from headstart day 1. I’m fairly certain 2nd birthday gifts go out around the 25th Aug?
They apparently locked a four page thread about it in the main discussions forum. I didn’t see a post saying why it was locked either :/ That’s pretty disappointing.
The main thread is open. Reading the 4 page one…it is fairly obvious why they locked it considering the tone of some posts. I agree SAB to stay, but there is a means and a way to presenting the arguments, many of which were somewhat lacking there from the start…
Im on Gunnars and havent seen any sign of this issue in game, in guild or in chat. Thats not me saying it doesnt exist, but it doesnt sound widespread either.
Almost all lag issues reported tend to be ISP related even when ppl swear its not, but the only way to find out is either in the tech forum or submit a ticket to support. If there really is a problem, reporting it directly to the tech team is the only way forward.
It is a shame. Even if they never intend to update it, keeping just worlds one and two would add to the variety of the game. SAB was praised across so many quarters, why wouldnt you want to keep something popular and different? Those who didnt like it, could just ignore it.
I understand the emphasis on core content entirely. Not keeping as a permanent fixture after this announcement seems unduly contrary to me. Plenty of unpopular mini games are still in the game after all…
I believe Sand Savage also appears during the sandstorm if my memory serves. WHich suggests a more random spawn timer for rare bosses.
That is based on memory from a few days ago though, so I can’t fully confirm.
There’s a new devourer boss which spawns north of the giant, but its a rare spawn. Only fought it once so far.
Sand Savage Iirc
It’s an interesting discussion, but the pessimistic side of me dismisses the speculation concerning Livia onto the same heap as recent speculation of Glints offspring/Mursaat/White Mantle/Realm of Torment. Wishful thinking, but sadly unlikely.
Ofc happy to be proven wrong!!
So…Cantha, Tengu and Mounts incoming?
j/k
I’ll take the first
No, seems to have gone fine on the ones I guested to today
Not many people read the OP here I think
There has been surprisingly little discussion about it, but you aren’t the first to make the Livia=Anise speculation. Her motives are pretty aggressive, and I wonder (hope) that the possibility that she is still using the old dual classes from 250 ago bring some cross class features into the game for PCs.
Talk about a game changer…
Actually there’s been a large amount of discussion about it, just spread across the LW/lore forums over the last year or so and heightening when she pops up the LW story.

I fear Konig has finally gone mad…
That doesn’t make any sense. Keep Vistas as Vistas. What they should change are the Points of Interest. Instead of just discovering them for exp only, you find it, get its name, Icon appears on top of your map, you press it and you get a page worth of information and historical references of the place in question and a cool picture.
What a superb idea!
I’m really surprised that Wildstar didn’t do better than it did.
I played it, I’m not.
Same.
The last mmo I played with trinity/aggro was Wildstar and that has an appauling combat system. Granted it can work…but it isn’t needed here. The combat system at it’s core is fine (conditions in groups excepting) and often superior to many other mmos. There are better tweaks than aggro that are more needed, like improvements to controls, a wider range of skills and out of combat quick swapping.
I do however admire that you at leats put forth credible suggestions and backed up with skill ideas to support them
My noble elementalist looking dandy in Ascalon.
Like is great-great-great grandfather before him. When Ascalon was beautiful…..
Ectos are much, much easier to obtain now with the introduction of magic find, champion bags and a lot more bosses and guaranteed yellows that come with them. The precursor drop rate hasn’t increased by as much and are also subject to marketeers using the trading post to increase profits.
I barely wvw and have no personal interest in the tag…yet even I can see the flaws here. It absolutely should be a free feature once a tag is bought. How was this approved or not caught early in the design process?
Whilst I think the process is bit long winded and you have to find a guide outside of the game to craft it (never a fan of that)…I like the idea behind crafting it. I see it setting up more prestige items and maybe the long hoped for precursors as well.
Also, you can’t put up a positive thread and call for screenies, without putting your own up first
We’ll get lions if we ever get to Elona. For now though….
T6 mats – laurels and clover production will get you your bulk. They are virtually unfarmable, the rest you will need to buy from the AH
Not in open world for sure. It just isn’t set up for it and creating separate maps would just fragment the population when they just brought in megaservers to avoid that.
Dungeons? Maybe. Only the devs could say and they wont. Achievements are were they are testing the waters here. Seeing what works and what doesn’t.
In terms of tactics, well the early stages of that are being seen in S2. The Mordrems are much harder than normal mobs. ALso, we have Teq and Wurm set up for those who want more tactical fights.

These days people just use it as part of the joke. Instead of censoring a swear word with kitten, people just type kitten instead.
It is interesting how MMO’s have moved on in general. In GW1, it was expected players would need to attempt story missions a few times to get through. They weren’t necs outright super hard, but some were pretty tough and required changing builds etc.
Nowadays, we expect to get through first go, and I include myself in this as well. I wonder what or when it changed. I’ve noticed the same trend in other MMO’s too.

ahhh I see. Thanks for clearing that up
What do you mean by “not skip any steps”? What steps are skippable?
You can go through the entire zone w/o doing story – the path through will just be harder to find
What do people think of the skin itself? Worth the time investment? I have nothing against it, but it seemed nothing spectacular over another skin so decided against making it in the end. I do like the scavenger bit though, so I did hunt down a lot of the pieces.
What are other people’s views on it for the time involved.
Agreed. Maybe at the end of LS2 there will be a cutscene book.
I hadn’t until you pointed it out. I wouldn’t say casual, but I would say the events aren’t telling the zone’s story like other DE’s normally would. The inquest for example for are a rather random element to this zone – very out of place, mixing nonchanantly with other mobs in the area.. DE’s (and the old hearts system) would have explained this better.
The other main worry I have is that these events are designed for peak numbers to unlock the vendors. A new zone if we get one, would pull us away from this zone and deaden it a lot. Unless they develop the old style zones, which they seem keen on avoiding at all costs.
It’s a hard fight, but that’s how it should be. The community complained about how the dragon fights in the PS were a walk in the park, so they upped the challenge on this one.
Also, we have to remember that the GW1 bosses were no walk in the park. I remember the fights Vs Varesh and Shiro and the Gates of Madness battle. They needed tactics.
The fight interested me since in PVT my warrior could absorb the damage, but could do very little dps, so it was a long, drawn out fight. Yet a dps specced class could shorten the fight considerably, at the cost of high risk of death.
There have been a couple of threads about mursaat in hat video, but I still can’t see anything resembling one. Where have people seen a mursaat in the cutscene?
