Any Plans to Fix the Servers?

We did. It isnt affecting most of the population, so that is proof. There will be isolated issues however, which are utterly unfixable unless the team know about them and have data from the users they cam work from

Did you try contacting support? Tech are usually pretty good at identifying the source. Of individual lag issues.

Have you tried talking to support or the tech forum? I know people have had this issue solved for them since it rarely is a server issue directly (if it was, everyone would likely be affected and that isn’t the case).

Worth a shot if you haven’t already

Thanks — you’ve given me a lot to mull over. I was thinking basics, like Lion’s Arch before/Lion’s Arch now. But a lot of your ideas make sense, and it’s an interesting discussion.

Indeed. It woudn’t be like for like as it was. That could never be experienced again (sadly, since despite its flaws, there was some fun content there and obviously things like Nightmare Tower has set up the way new zones work today)

Logistically it is one of the tougher challenges to implement. But, you guys like those…….right??

Jewellery can be obtained with laurels.

The difference in stats between exotic and ascended is 2-3 stat points per piece. Better off just eating food – the stat difference on ascended wont make any difference at all and if you don’t enjoy crafting it wont make you feel like you are missing anything.

If you feel really brave…you can get ascended armour from completing some of the more difficult collections..

I had a lot of fun… but I have one BIG worry.

It all felt forced. Fan-service. I’m afraid this was their way of silencing the whining GW1 fans – and NOT a trend that will continue.

I know what you mean – Glint’s Lair felt forced into the story with a crowbar a little bit. Not that it matters much. It was still great story, it was still extremely good fun to play and I’m sure it will tie together properly by the end.

Is it even possible, given the changes that came about in the world?

I don’t believe so, but something needs to bridge the gap. I see so many confused players and so many confused ‘potential’ players, that is is a real stumbling point for them to miss essentially a year’s worth of story. Even the earlier season 2 stuff is confusing people since they don’t realise they have to unlock it with gems.

We need to think of a way to pull it all together. The direction of S2 is improving the game with leaps and bounds, but there’s that feeling for many of a whole chunk missing.

Perhaps instances tagged onto the PS, massively foreshortened (eg Nightmare tower – small linear instance with the boss fight to conclude and cutscenes to set it up), with cutscenes to fill in the rest. Something in game and not on the webpage/external sites to guide people.

Glint's Egg Speculation [Spoilers]

in Living World

Randulf.7614

What I want to know is simple. What happened to Glimmer?

Ogden says it’s the last egg, but we already had a perfectly healthy baby dragon hatch in GW1. We protected it from harm during Glint’s Challenge. Unless something happened to the little tyke (named Glimmer by someone else on the GW Guru forums), she should still be around. 250 years older, of course, but still a toddler by dragon standards.

We’ve already got a baby oracle dragon. Why are we hatching another?

It died 250 years ago whilst my character farmed his destroyer gloves. At least that was what usually happened….

I’m still utterly baffled why Chris is upset about this thread. Can’t say I can find very many examples of bullying and immaturity – certainly not enough to warrant getting upset about by a long shot. Glad to see the CDI’s getting their own subforum though – I suggested this way back to prevent any problems occuring. Hopefully this will help it.

Top 3
1. Accessbility. Everyone and anyone should be able to access this. THIS is what stands GW2 above all others. Other MMO’s fail utterly here, GW2’s core principles should hold it up high as an example to others

2. Original mechanics. I have faith this will happen anyway. I am LOVING silverwastes and some of the recent LS2 mob mechanics

3. Rewards. SIlverwastes shows what you can do. Wurm shows how to get it very, very wrong (what’s the incentive for the average player to try?). It needs to be worth the time and effort – exclusive rewards are essential

added extra note;. Improvements to (UI?) – eg build templates/commander improvements/larger team sizes/map notes and pings for all raid group.

least important

1. Massively challenging content. In so much that it shouldn’t be difficult for the sake of being difficult. Fun and accessibility first. Or end up like the Wurm and shut out and frustrate too many players. Difficult? Yes. Completable by top 5% players? What will have been gained by that?

2. Story. I’d actually love a really good raid story, but let’s face it, raids work better as pure gameplay (imo). People just skip the story and it wont really fit a living world if you complete/repeat constantly. It’s not necessary to write much for it in my opinion

Morning,

Ok I have been up all night reading the posts and thinking about this CDI.

To be frank this is not a good CDI, specifically because whilst some folks are trying to be collaborative and have valuable discussion others are just bullying with their different agendas.

I have always said that if a CDI loses its value on both sides that it will be stopped.

So I am at some what of a loss. I can’t tell anymore if it is of value to this group. Whilst it certainly has been valuable for us it has been extremely time consuming to get to the good stuff.

So I will leave it up to you folks. If you feel you can work more collaboratively then by all means let me know that you want to carry on.

If you feel that it is a lost cause then I will ask for everyone’s top three priorities for raiding and call it a day.

I want to say thank you very much to all those who tried to follow the rules of the CDI and who had a healthy discussion. I also wanted to say a big thank you to TTS and DnT. We appreciate your feedback.

Chris

I’ve read back a few posts and utterly confused as to why you think this. I’m seeing plenty of healthy and good discussion going on – much of it is useful. The problem is that there are different discussions between different devs and the community going on, so discussions are getting mixed. It’s also an enormous thread, which suggests a general raiding thread was too broad, and maybe since you have asked many times for a focused discussion, the thread should have been re-titled for each discussion or a new thread per focus.

Not sure I’m seeing the issue really. There was always going to be conflicting “sides” to this raiding theory, that is uncontrollable. Personally I think the discussion has come out very much intact, if a little scattered given the nature of the subject.

still no first person view?

I’m not a fan of this “buy by the chapter” philosophy, it is probably the one thing I have strong criticism against, largely because of the problem here and also because if you try and explain the system to a prospestive player, it can come across as confusing or too much hassle.

I don’t really have an answer to how to solve to the paywall to players who miss chapters since free probably isn’t viable, but at the very least it needs better guidance to other areas and some indication a player has missed chapters. With the work going to in to make the NPE “less confusing”, I’m surprised the LS wasn’t cleaned up too.

Healing power is not useless. I have found healing power to be reliable if properly balanced versus other stats in certain situations or in certain teams.

I certainly don’t agree nerfing the individual heals would be a solution to anything. It would go completely against the way the game is set up and would be grossly unfair to a large portion of the playerbase. Healing power is supplementary as a support option, it shouldn’t be relied upon – ie if you lack a healing traited ele or guardian, then you adjust your team build accordingly.

Returning - Questions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Randulf.7614

Queensdale is active, other areas are less active. It’s pretty much a single player game to play PvE. There’s a new leveling system that gimps your progression. For example you won’t unlock your traits until 30th level and have to do certain tasks to assign them. Elementalists and Necromancers are fine. Play how you like.

I won’t lie, the Traits thing sounds like a hassle. What do you mean certain tasks? Like Quests? Am I better off just rebooting an old character rather than rerolling?

You now have to earn some of your traits (unless already unlocked) in a vaguely similar way to GW1. The idea is you may have to kill a certain boss, or do a specific event or do a jumping puzzle. Or You can just purchase the traits with skill points and gold.

It isn’t a huge hassle really, but it has courted controversy – the new player expereince/levelling changes will give many conflicting opinions. I have no real issue with it at all, many are vocally opposed to it. It’s something to decide for yourself really.

Returning - Questions

Your server is relevant only for wvw (which does cost to move). In pve servers are now “megaservers” which merges populations in order to populate maps better – so yes you will find a lot more people in starter areas now and in previously less populated maps in general. It is a system I have found extremely beneficial to the game.

I can’t comment on spvp as I don’t pvp

Hope you enjoy getting back into the game

The problem behind profession specific mechanics brings uo the problem that eliminating the trinity solved in the first place. You can spend ages looking for a specific class to achieve a specific role or the raid will become unstuck.

I like the thought process behind the prof specific mechanics, but in practical terms it doesn’t feel feasible even with the “soft mechanic” approach suggested.

in Living World

Randulf.7614

You have missed several earlier stages of living story which are locked behind a paywall for you. Playing the story in order would lead you naturally round the map to your destination.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the LS2, this isn’t clear and many have become stumped how to get to this bit as the game assumes you have completed all prior story steps.

The short and easy answer is that if you go to Prospect Town, you will find a house with an open door. The passage through lies at the back. Then you can work your way round in a circular fashion until you eventually get to the place you need to be.

Or you can use 200 gems per missed chapter to follow the story in order.

I like the idea of a raid being the size of a small map. Sort of like a more focused Wurm fight, but with pre-requisite challenges telling the story of why you are fighting it. Your Dry Top analogy might be more apt though

A small map zone dedicated as a raid could be something GW2 could pull off quite naturally the way it is currently set up.

I can’t suggest mechanics etc though – not something I’m particularly strong at brainstorming

What I’m supposed to do with 1 gem???

What do you do with 1 cent in change? Isn’t it the same thing?

Pretty much and to be honest it isn’t really a big issue (although my OCD triggers slightly when it sees 9 lonesome gems in my window lol).

I think it boils down to it being a change and because it is such a tiny, tiny one in the grand scheme of things, people can’t wrap their heads round why the change exists – hence the confusion/feedback/conspiracy theories.

Personally I scratched my head briefly over not being able to exchange the little amount of gems and then moved onto to killing more bunnies..DRAGONS…I mean dragons….

p.s. I echo the sentiments of those who are grateful extra time was put in to fix the issue from the feedback, irrespective of whether the change should have happened or not originally.
