I don’t understand why they had to nerf shocking aura boons so badly.
But oh well, I guess ele’s damage was OP or some kitten.
And don’t even mention aurashare, because they could have toned it down so teammates only benefit for half of the boon duration or something. They didn’t have to downright kill it.
All this update has done: more reasons for people to focus on 1-2 builds, instead of spreading variety. Focus buffs won’t do kitten.
I can’t believe this lol. The infamous bunker spec and aurashare are now more powerful, and every other spec has been nerfed indirectly thanks to the RtL changes.
Way to deal with the root of the problem ANet!
Btw I used 0/20/0/20/30, completely different than the common 0/10/0/30/30

Without the fancy bunker build, no one would be complaining about anything.
The bunker build gave everyone a reason to set their scope on elementalists, and complain about everything they do.
Too mobile? nerf.
Too much burst? nerf.
Escapes like no other? (lets choose to ignore thieves, mesmers, stealth, etc.) NERF
The only thing broken is the healing (added to the tankiness) and ridiculous condition removal. Other than that, they’re fine.

You’re not the first guy wanting to kill RtL just for the heck of it.
The logical nerf is: dealing with the root of the problem.
But like in other games, once X is deemed Op for Z reason, people will find the way to complain for just about every little thing that X brings to the table, instead of just dealing with Z.
At the end, X gets nerfed to oblivion in every single aspect. I’ve seen it happen way too much so that’s why I’m so vocal about this whole thing.

If all the chests cost the same (rabbit, deer, dolyak, wolf, etc) then it might be wise to save them.

Make RTL require a target, similar to magnetic grasp part 2.
I believe its intention was a gap closer but it is used as a getaway.If that change isn’t made then they will either reduce healing, or nerf RTL distance to the ground.
My other suggested change was to move Cleansing Wave to focus.
ATM x/D has the best heal (except standing in geyser for its full duration) on it and the best movement skill
The focus has some good skills, but no heal on it making the x/D better in most situations.
RtL does not need a nerf. Why the kitten do people want it nerfed so badly? Nerf the root of the problem, not everything else.
Let’s pretend that condi necro is gamebreakingly OP. But instead of just nerfing the condition themselves, you come up and say that we should nerf death shroud.
That’s basically what you’re doing right now.
Saying that I won would be an understatement. The staff vs D/D matches were completely one sided and I didn’t even need to use my heal glyph (yes I use the glyph) because my HP was above 75% the entire time.
Then he switched D/D and it became a more even matchup but in the end it finished 2:1

Two players of equal skill, you are at a disadvantage as per the items I’ve already discussed…so the “what” was justified.I think his point is that he is not the best player out there, but he could survive the damage output of a similarly skilled D/D ele, to the point where it would be a draw.
I’ve had some VERY fun duels that last 4+minutes and are ultimately decided by one person missing a dodge and taking an extra hit or two, only to be ultimately worn down. I think my favorite such long duel was against a rifle+hammer warrior when i was support staff. Got him with an earth signet+lava font while my greater fire ele was up and his condition removal was down.
edit: just wanted to point out that i am also in the ‘definitely not the best’ category and neither is my warrior friend.

I get my kitten handed to me often enough and don’t pretend to be super-pro. I don’t even run tournament sPvP, just quick-join. But in my experience, I just don’t see D/D as being any better (or worse) than Staff… which led me to wonder why the noticeable lack of staff discussion on the forums.
I was happy enough with the “playstyle difference” explanation. But then there was some insistence that 2 equally skilled players would have D/D at an advantage, and I argue the validity of that statement because the D/D Eles I run into, I can usually best. No… I can best them MOST of the time… with my build as stated originally. In the scenarios that I’ve experienced. With few exceptions.
It could be they are doing it wrong, but seeing how there are about 3 cookie-cutter D/D builds on every thread on the internet, I don’t imagine they are ALL doing it wrong. A Berserker build doesn’t beat my PVTH build without the other player being significantly more skilled… it just doesn’t, I can outlast it all day long. So it’s not inherently better… s’all I’m saying. Nor does my longer cast/animation times hinder my ability to kick kitten in any very noticeable way… I always considered it part of the tradeoff of having more control over my arsenal than a D/D setup… I’ll take faster projectiles and/or shorter casts/delays… but I don’t NEED them.
Maybe it’s just most Staff Eles doing it wrong. I’ll take it as a compliment.

I fail to see how a staff user will outlast anyone at all when he’s not even doing damage.
Seriously, OP you said that you use PVT and healing power stuff… Isn’t that 0 critical chance and 0 critical damage? How are you even doing damage to your opponent?
You can be tanky, I’ll give you that. But you will not kill kitten.
That being said, I would wager that my build and my skill vs. a D/D Ele (bunker or otherwise) of equal skill would NOT favor the D/D Ele. I’m not saying I’ll WIN, just that I doubt I’d lose.

you cannot kill any (smart) opponent with just ground aoe’s. every class, even D/D eles, have some mid/long range spells to damage you from safety.
He’s talking about staff autoattacks. They’re way too slow.
Staff is great for control, support and aoe. No one is gonna deny that.
D/D doesn’t come nearly as close in terms of team utility.
D/D for small skirmishes and superior melee dps / mobility.
Staff for sieges and long range / aoe.
Scepter is a mix of both, and I don’t find a use for it in wvw.
You serious? Staff is viable and has it’s uses but you cannot defeat any remotely decent D/D users with it.

Not sure what youre saying. In a team fight, someone always has an invuln or stealth. If a thief downed you in a teamfight his defensive cds will always be up. Distortion is always available. Mist form and elixir may not be available but it depends on how the fight was going.
Because stealth stomps CAN be interrupted lol. Perhaps not by the downed guy, but by his teammates.
Can your teammates interrupt, or even damage / kill an invulnerable stomp? No, then why do you put them in the same league? Obviously because you hate thieves.

I’m honestly dumbfounded at the extremely silent matches here at gw2. Must be because it’s not a free game but still…
My issue is I feel these skills & combos for guaranteed or fast finishes make PvP much less competitive than it could be. I think it removes a lot of team work ( i.e. reviving team mates, timing knockbacks to save team mates etc).
Because never ending battles where people constantly save each other are so fun right?
The thing about these safe finishers, is that they allow you to make a choice. Your common sense tells you when it’s worth it to blow your really high cooldown utility spell so that problematic target goes down without having their mes / guardian playing ping pong (all while taking free hits) with you while you try to channel the stomp.
Edit: of course you can just DPS someone down instead of doing the channel, but that takes longer, and a single revive regeneration can outdamage up to 3 people.
Downed system is already pretty silly, let’s not make it worse.
Like I said, if you want to witness epic teamwork then keep your attention on the battle before people goes into downed mode. Usually it’s more interesting while they’re on their feet.

what kinda damage was doing that ele with the hammer? can’t see it.
I pull out 4600 damage per lightning whip (if both hits crit), I believe hammer does even more?
The only finishers that are broken are stealth and invulnerability finishers. Quickness finishers you can easily react to, and stability stomps u can just focus fire. So ele mesmer thief and engie are the problen
I think downed state can be a lot of fun at times. It adds a whole new dimension

The only professions that allow you to “easily react” to a quickness finisher would be ele, ranger and guardian. Every other one has a delay.
Quickness if anything is the only “unfair finish” that may surprise a downed thief, mesmer or ele. Stability or invulnerability will still be worthless against those 3 (the first cast that is).
This just in: A dash > A blink.
At least you can counter RtL with immobilizes, you cannot do anything about thief’s short bow #5, mesmer’s blink, and other forms of stealth escapes.
Ele is labeled as op because that build is too good, not because of RtL, learn to kittening play. I’m tired of these kittening monkeys that think that are balance geniuses.

OP makes it sound as if these moves were easily available to everyone.
They usually have ridiculous cooldowns. Capitalize on that and stop whining.

I’m leveling a thief and I’m amazed at how inferior SoR is compared to signet of malice.
It’s the only reliable way to finish someone off. I guess it’s much more “fair” in your opinion to down an opponent in a 1v2 situation just to die / have him instantly revived by his ally while you can only watch, right?

Unless it was a level 1 spvp char, even then, you don’t have to delete something to change a spec.

FYI the points you get =/= points that your team gets.
Your team gets +5 total points per kill, while a player gets 10. A team gets no bonus points when you actually capture a point, instead they get a steady flow.

You’re missing the whole point. You’re playing a d/d ele and you don’t think you put out as much damage as thieves? Just because you don’t have a “backstab” skill, it doesn’t mean you don’t put out good damage overall. A single fire rotation + arcane blast andor/wave can easily kill a thief/glass cannon class. If you can’t do that, then you’re failing as an ele.
You really shouldn’t even talk if you’re playing a d/d ele which is the most OP class in game right now bar none.
Seriously, stop comparing apples to oranges.
0/10/0/30/30 is OP, every other build is not.
So focus on that build, not on eles as a whole (like other people that try to get RtL nerfed and pretty much everything about eles nerfed lol)
