ya, but unless you are in a big pve guild – those areas are empty most of the time – I’ve tried it ..and stand around orr like I have to go to the bathroom itching to get back into wvw lol – but nooo one is around. If you pve regularly, I’m sure you have your pve buds to group up with quick, but if you are hardcore wvw – you don’t know many of those people and are stuck trying to rally people for what seems like forever, then with dungeons – they usually get upset because wvw builds die fast. – minus the warrior and guardian which naturally take more damage better.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
part of the problem with ascended gear and pve vs pvp – is that many hardcore wvw’rs have custom builds set specifically for pvp / wvw – and most of them don’t work in pve dungeons as well. so there’s the issue of having to make a new level 80 that is for doing dungeon runs. I’m in the process of doing that now myself – and trying to come up with builds that work great with both – but it does feel like I have to compromise the way I prefer to play my build in wvw. – That alone is discouraging for anyone that would rather spend more time in wvw.
so to say we should stop wvw and go play pve – really means that many don’t understand the wvw spike damage style builds. In dungeons, spikes don’t matter because an extra 100 – 500 damage is meaningless to a high level dungeon npc that can wipe a low defense team in minutes. It would also be incorrect to say wvw’rs should run dungeon builds, because the fights would last way too long with people having slap fights and healing lol – in wvw, the best defense is a strong offense.

thats why i appreciate the pve guys on our server, when they put their mind to something, they get it! Just need to keep their mind on enemy keeps, towers and sm , and you good! – Just a matter of time before we get our whole server in ascended gear and hard core achievers! ^.^
that can be tricky too, because some commanders are still new and need guidance as well. Sometimes the commander should take council from wvw vets as well. It’s really a matter of communicating and acting fast based on the best strategy.
lots of new faces in wvw / Darkhaven, and I am very appreciative of that – but I do admit, it seems we went back several months in strategy levels lol – it’s all good though, because our core players are patient and friendly – it’s just a matter of time before the new guys get up to par – so expect a few more weeks of this before it gets organized again – I’ve seen all the phases in wvw Darkhaven has gone through – this phase is acceptable to me though because it’s with our server loyal pve’rs. So it’s worth being patient, while they learn and get organized. Keep it fun for em
I’d rather be patient for a few weeks and train the new players with server pride and have years of a great server team – than put up with any more bandwagon guilds. It will pay off.

depends if part of those conditions are cripples – then you run circles / kiting around them while they drop like flies lol
the most effective condition attack I’ve seen, is when it’s in your primary attack – if you depend on a skill that has a long cooldown, then forget it – cleanses will wipe that – but if for every basic shot you stack a condition – that is very annoying and effective. it doesn’t take armor into consideration – so go ahead and clean – as long as someone is constantly stacking a condition on you with his basic attack – you won’t be able to keep up with healing / removing it …. – I use an earth sigil on my mesmer / greatsword – and it works great – combo of raw damage with high crits and a small condition that adds up and keeps stacking – especially when you have a heavy armor character down to his last points and tries running away fast to heal – he just eventually dies and you catch up and finish him off. even works great against retaliation if you have low raw damage output – you hit for low points but drain life.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
and the hardcore wvw’rs shouldn’t sleep on the pve builds either, some of them work great in wvw… – fought this one thief tonight , just did condition damage with pistols, i have high spike damage, he was tougher than a guardian, and I’ve taken out guardians and warriors .. i also watched him down a warrior too lol…… and he didn’t do any stealth either, the condition was hard to get away from, because even if you cured condition, the next shots load you up with tons of conditions all over again…your armor is basically irrelevant. The only time he ran was when I turned him into a moa – and he just jetted out …and I couldn’t get close enough to finish him! he healed up like a mile away, came back and kept sending me more conditions! lol! I can see how a build like that would last in a dungeon, whereas the common thief builds in wvw wouldn’t. I can down the avg wvw thief fast when not in stealth. This guys build wasn’t average! so kudos to the pve’rs with interesting dungeon builds – too bad the thief can’t extend the pistol shot to 1,200. Trying to decide how to spec mine.

wrong speech, tell them to be patient and it will be over in a few days. the lower tiers don’t want the bandwagon elitists back. You don’t hear the lower tiers complaining.
around the clock coverage is important in wvw, and now you have it more than ever, there is no problem according to your goals of having the best coverage in gw2.
congrats!
what kind of armor should bandwagon tears buy ?
lets say for arguments sake ….that a player in full ascended gear – has maybe 2 less shots to take out a target than one in exotics – @ 20 people – that’s 40 less shots. 40 shots can take out an extra 5 people faster.
Ie – Guardians and Warriors in heavy armor – most often get away with murder because they take high damage and run away fast – that extra power will stop them from getting away.
whenever you cap a camp on an opponent’s bl , an x comes up on the map – anyone watching their maps will respond to that x (and they do watch maps so you will get a response 2 out of 3 times ) – the response can be anywhere from 1 thief that appears out of nowhere – to a group of 5+ people – this in addition to the npcs you started fighting lol – it can get very ugly fast….so I highly recommend you have some escape plan when using that approach, be it fast mobility or stealth.
It’s a rush though, I go solo roaming every so often – every once in a while I’ll take out an opponent and the camp at the same time heh!
(edited by Ricky.4706)
I find solo fights all the time, in the form of a thief popping out of nowhere and spiking me, then going invis again before I have a chance to respond lol. If you want to find solo fights , just hop around the different boarderlands and take out the sentry points and camps. If you do this, it’s almost impossible to not find a fight.
there are no servers that were meant to be dedicated to wvw. The bandwagon guilds caused this, stop blaming the pver’s that have been there since beta!
the bandwagon guilds are to blame for this, not your loyal pvers. I’m having a hard time feeling bad for people who rush to win at anyone’s expense.
they couldn’t care about wvw as the pvp’rs couldn’t care about having balanced servers ? interesting. lots of not caring happening in t1 and t2 servers.
pve and pvp team work is different, but if you know how to lead, train and direct people, it’s instant power. That’s why not everyone is cut out to be a commander.
it could be interesting, but as op mentioned, it would be nice if this was tied to server loyalty somehow. Serious, loyal people should be compensated for all the changes we’ve endured since beta.
@vince – a zerg of 20 in ascended gear ( which legendaries share same higher attributes ) does make a difference. 1 item isn’t much, but – 2 ascended earrings, 2 rings, an amulet and a weapon on 20-30 people in a zerg is a lot. especially when they teamwork to take out 1 target at a time. Doors melt without rams.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
sounds lonely at the top us lower tier servers just don’t understand -sigh-
we got 99 problems, but lag ain’t one.
(edited by Ricky.4706)
hey, look on the bright side, you have the round the clock coverage you always wanted lol!
I totally agree!! I was saying it on my server tonight, that I’d take a loyal pver over a fly by night guild in wvw any day! besides, our pver’s are totally decked out in legendaries and ascended gear – that alone is a huuge advantage aside from server loyalty.
we at Darkhaven appreciate our pve audience – we would rather train our dedicated pve server members and train them in wvw, than have to deal with fly by night bandwagon guilds that have zero server loyalty or pride!
(edited by Ricky.4706)
who can blame them ? look at how you treat them!! I love wvw and would avoid it if your whole server treated everyone like you post. Our carebears shed no tears, and become Beasts after we finish training them! We help them in the jumping puzzles, while we shoot down your pver’s mercilessly!
(edited by Ricky.4706)
yap! And a big shout out to the pve’rs that are joining us, they have really been supportive and came in with a great teamwork spirit – they are learning very quickly!!! – wvw looks awesome with all the legendary gear there – never seen so many glowing characters in one area – not even in lions arch! lol
tell your commander to use the “say” chat …it shows up as bubbles in the local area – not as efficient as a quick command would be , but better than not having anything.
Tired of Blobs ? So are we, we train our wvw’rs to work in teams and solo!! Pure Strategy and Tactics! Never a dull moment and you play as you want!! Our optimal sized zergs are always on the field ready to back you up should you encounter a large amount zhaitan’s minions in wvw!!
want to finish the jumping puzzle achievements ? Not a problem, our Experienced Fighters are on guard with Superior siege in our jumping puzzles to ensure you have safe passage!!!
sick of being looked down on by the elite wvw guilds on your server ?
Feeling left out ? kicked aside, looked down on ?
We’ll there is a safe friendly haven for you, Darkhaven!!
we at darkhaven appreciate your skills, your sense of humor, awesome pve skins, never say die attitude, and invite you to come train with us!! PVE Commander wanting to learn wvw ? Not a problem, we have some of the best Commanders in GW2 that are willing to train future leaders.
No need to put up with being treated like a kitten in those nasty servers.
we are a server you can be proud of and loyal to!!
We love what you bring to wvw and welcome you to the friendliest fun loving server in GW2.
We got jokes!!! Bring your moa spell and don’t be afraid to use it!!
i’m having a blast on my server, and it’s really nice to see the pve’rs – I’ve been calling out instructions and training them in chat …they all understand and are more than willing to work together, we are even helping to train the pve commanders and they are supportive too.. – it’s actually refreshing. I dunno, maybe people skills will help ?
The last time people did that to us (the OS kite achievement), we coordinated with the 3rd server to work together and take down the campers, it ended up being a pretty fun afternoon.
That’s the spirit
now we just need a vendor to exchange carebear tears for ascended backpacks. win/ win
ah yes, the pve’rs finally understand why we have issues with ascended items!
hey, look on the bright side, the sm walls in T1 will always be fully repaired. -tries hard to keep a serious face-
you grab a town like orr – and let 2 -3 servers share it…..no scores.
carebear tears should be it’s own wvw currency! Then jumping puzzles would be fun for pvp’rs too!! win/win
i’ve been thinking about this, you may have a point – i take it back ….I can’t wait to lay heavy siege to stop the pve’rs that imposed their pve jumping puzzles in a wvw list.
I see the light. – many whining moa’s will walk the earth during the leagues!
wait a minute, DrWhom had a great point, the only people that love jumping puzzles are the pve’rs – this might be a great chance to pounce on them senselessly for imposing their stuff on our pvp lists -
Might want to re-think about this before complaining too much. Might be hilarious!
The point is there is too much pve in the pvp achievement panel. jumping puzzles fall in the pve category and encourage a lot of griefing in the game with people that hijack areas.
""ehm didnt you read my post?
you arent forced in any way to do these jumping puzzles! "
it’s not the point, I’d rather have a title for turning you into a moa than have I counted 5 titles for jumping puzzles alone ?
LOOOOL
that complaints … ofc someone had to complain about the most ridicoulus thing ever
1) YOU ARENT FORCED IN ANY WAY
READ THE ACHIEVEMENTS BEFORE YOU SAY SOMETHING HERE
you dont need to do the jumping puzzles for the main achievement!!!this argument is already enough to delete this post!!!
I kittenING HATE IDIOTS WHO ALWAYS COMPLAIN BEFORE READING!!!!!2) SEVEN WEEKS for 3 jumping puzzles???
OMG HOW DARE IS ANET….
delete this completly senseless topic now…
and this is another thing about pvp vs pve – I would have more fun turning orange into a moa in wvw than trying to do pve events or jumping puzzles with him, via guesting his server.
Please don’t force us to get along with his idea of fun. Can’t stand jumping puzzles myself.
i wouldn’t say they (Pve events ) are kitten, I took some time yesterday to do some pve and found a nice crew at jormag , and invited a few to go to the dwayana temple, we had a blast , but its just not something I want to do all day every day…..I have way more fun shoving my greatsword in some op warriors face with my zerg buds.
PVP’rs like adventure – but doing the same pve events over and over is not an adventure – it’s mindless repetition… – wvw and pvp is always alive and changing, so it’s less likely to become redundant. Heck, even getting facerolled can be a fun badge fest if you know where to stand in the spawn area. wvw is hilarious, pve isn’t.
pvp’rs got jokes and a sense of humor, you don’t find as much comedy in pve as you do in big battles where you turn the big bad warrior into a moa …that’s just priceless!!
here’s the difference, if you laugh and taunt jormag, you are pretty much a buffoon because it’s ai ….but if you turn another entire zerg into a moa ..oh boy! you WILL read about it in some random forum as headline news!

Devon, hang in there, please don’t take our words to heart, truth is WVW is a great fun place to hang out with like minded people, we love it and fight to preserve it as an important part of ‘our side’ of the game.
Don’t take us too serious bro, if the game was terrible, we wouldn’t bother getting excited and defensive about it, if anything, be happy you are in charge of such a powerful part of the game. We are pvp’rs , we fight, that’s what we do lol
I’d be happier if they just gave us the pvp locker in wvw and eliminate ascended items or any items with stat advantages from pvp areas. I don’t really want an ascended item, I just don’t want a non pvp’r to have an advantage.
I find that the friendliest and easiest to enjoy area of the game is wvw / pvp areas – I personally do not like to roll with pve’rs that have the ‘man up’ attitude – the game is great, the people aren’t perfect and I would prefer if you don’t force us to play with whom we don’t want to play with. Thank you for considering our concerns with adding more of these materials in WvW.
Please keep in mind that some of the biggest griefers are the same people that love to do mindless repetitive pve runs to get rich. PVP’rs are a thinking class.
This does not reflect all pvp or pve’rs – but the pve has smaller groups and requires us to be closer to those misfits
wonderful surprise to see this thread, thank you!
1 – tools to rally more people from our servers to gather interest in wvw – ie world wide announcements – many people like wvw – but it’s discouraging to walk into an empty BL, or a BL without an experienced commander.
2 – tools that favor pugs – strangers are not going to randomly join each other – a “Join group” button that automatically groups teams of 10 – and keeps queing new players as people quit / get kicked.
3 – game announcements like gw1 – hall of heroes – of current wvw scores to encourage players already in our servers to join us. ie – Darkhaven holds SM – Darkhaven lost SM – and give server wide advantages for holding prime spots in each BL to encourage pver’s to come fight for it. ie – The server that holds SM Spawns certain Bosses more frequently – or has more ascended drops during that time, or triggers a unique events / or opens certain dungeons in the PVE world that only happens when you have SM.
4 – commanders based on stats – If my stats state I was involved in 50 or more sm caps and over 400 towers – grinding for 100 gold in pve does not give me that experience.
Pve commanders and PVP commanders should be 2 different animals.
5 – PVP Rule – you don’t grind for stats, only looks. It should be like chess, you shouldn’t have to play checkers to get a rook or a knight to play chess. – Sell bragging rights with /emotes and /particle effects /finishers – not stats.
6 – Balanced servers imo is moot – you can’t force people to play in any particular server. but you can cap the game so even the lowest server can provide those numbers – you can limit games to Day shift and Night shift so having people on different time zones isn’t an advantage. No server should allow a wvw population that causes skill lag.
7 – each new server transfer should have 1-2 weeks before they can use wvw chat and build siege – to circumvent griefing.
8 – PVE players can grind 100 gold a day with speed dungeon runs – the most I’ve seen in wvw – is 2-3 gold in like 3 hours – especially since I have to recycle items for orichalcum, ecto, dark matter, magic find, and ancient wood – not sell them… – it’s going to take me a very very long time to get 500 dragonite ore and the gold I need to make an ascended weapon just to catch up to the pve noob op warrior build who has the ascended backpack and ascended weapon.
maybe bringing the sPVP locker approach in wvw might be a step in the right direction and allow us to experiment with more organized builds. Only draw back with that – is wvw is Very fashion based , and the look of all the particle effect items in this open world means more, so I’d hate to lose those particle effects – it adds to the adventure and bragging rights.

the art is nice, nice place to visit…. but not worth investing time or effort in getting any serious competition. The balance and logistics are so off, you just can’t take it serious. It’s fun if you think of it as an action version of 2nd life though – the leagues and rankings should be taken with a grain of salt ….in gold league – you have skill lag vs skill lag – in silver league , you have roflstomp unbalanced matches… and in bronze leagues you have a variety of coverage hours – then you have the warriors and guardians being the best characters and having to leave wvw to grind for the best weapon stats.
this just isn’t a real pvp game – it’s a pve game that has areas where you can fight other people too, nothing really organized. Even what they call pvp is a game of tag. it’s dodgeball, not chess. I think accepting this might make the game more fun and be less attached to the competitive side of it, because it’s not there – may as well throw dice and write all the ladders based on the roll, let us know who won and email us a reward, give us a title for playing along. No reason for anyone to stop enjoying playing their class. Even if everyone rolled the same class, any concept of having a serious rank still can’t be taken serious – other than maybe a pure one on one in wvw – a player held fight club with their own ladders independent of anet.
look on the bright side, we have the power to balance the game by all rolling warriors.
I found the best way to enjoy the game is to really not care and use whatever till something better comes along.
