That launch personal battering ram buff looks hilarious, at least. I wonder if the new throw mine will still scale up with forceful explosives. 300 radius AoE knockback sounds hilarious, and would cover most small capture points I think.

I am more curious if they also finally fix that mine bug when mine dont trigger if mob is already inside of radius. Working bunker down is my current dream.

I know where is problem. Since heastart was engis and little bit eles also quite underpowered with pretty high skill cap and to be at least equal to rest they had to be excelent players. And now after few tweaks what make those classes equal to rest are average players of other classes simply rekted because excelent players got excelent toys:-)

This behavior make me incredibly angry. You paid 60 dollars once (I guess loudest screamers 20 in some sale) and you enjoying game for 2 years. I have over 5k hours played. And now you scream because you will pay a little bit more for massive expansion? Remember from gw1 those expansions had always content worth 2/3 of orginal game. Out there are 60 dollar games what you finish in 5 hours with overpriced DLCs what you finish in 20 minutes and yet you still complain about expansion what can bring you addional lets say 4k hours of fun? Dont be ridiculous..
Anet never had problem with splited playerbase they are competent and I am sure they will come with something innovative just trust them.

I’ve been told that essentially the only three professions that are viable in the game are Warrior, Guardian, and Elementalist.

Thats basicly what noobs will tell you. If you find a guild with decent players they will know all classes are very viable. For example ppl still thinks warrior is top class dps while its actualy mid tier dps what is good only for banners:-)

Classes in this game are very ballanced very equal and can often replace each other in roles if needed. Simply play what you like and play it as good as possible and you will be fine.

Do they still have a build like that for engineer?

You can do basicly the same with minefield+barrage+sd. but its very hard to land it without stealth because minefield need 1 sec cast

Honestly even trying to res as a team vs one or two engis is just suicide. It cannot be done (hence no bunker guardians I expect). The cleave is just crazy. The CC is crazy. The damage is crazy. It is a dps spec and a condi spec IN ONE. It is like having two people in one. The healing is absurd. The team support is absurd as they have so much CC they can peel and they can heal. Its almost impossible to interrupt their heal which is then really high – much like ele. Their block is very frequent. Their spread of condis is very high. Their mobility is very high. What can’t they do? Really?

If necro is meant to be engineers natural predator then its just not working out that way. I don’t even feel a favorite vs them alot of the time. And vs elementalists I just have no chance pretty much. The maths just dictates that the combination of their healing and regen means even when I hit everything they just don’t die. And the CC is crazy on engi.

It is not worth tiny nerfs currently (imo) because the problem is pretty big and I doubt small nerfs do much. It also isn’t just celestial that is the problem. My ideas which I don’t think have much risk.

10 magical balance steps

1, Remove 50 points from each celestial stat
2, Remove ele lightning glitch which makes healing too high
3, Increase cd on sigil of air and fire to 10 seconds each and reduce air dps by 10%
4, Make incediary power a GM AND reduce the burning to 2 seconds (would still be OP – in fact the difference between 2 and 4 seconds is nothing as we saw with dhuumfire, if you are burning for 3/4 seconds you will die anyway).
5, Reduce the dps from grenades across the board by around 20%
6, Remove the stun and blast finisher component of the supply crate elite
7, Increase engi block cd to 35 seconds
8, Increase cast time on healing turret to 1 second to add counter play
9, Lower dps/burning of fire dagger no.2 on ele as it seems very strong currently
10, Add an LOS requirement to steal like all other ports

So topic name is about “engi OP” and your list is almost totaly non engi related lel.

1. celestial amulet isnt engis fault.
2. so you make engi less OP by nerfing ele that actualy really new approach to problem:-D
3. engis dont use those sigils.
4. what if I told you its not this trait what killing you?
5. oh wait it looks like engineer related finally. Well grenades havent much more dps than simillar skills and if you count all those aditional skill celling with manual aiming its quite fair.
6. Remove this skill from elites then
7. This change nothing you will die anyway
8. It will be probably big surprise for you but almost all classes have instant uninteruptable heals eg heal signet ect

Can't choose a Profession

After playing the new WoW expansion I decided it wasn’t for me. Iv played GW2 on an off since lunch. I have gotten a engineer to level 28ish and a guardian to 25ish. I deleted the engineer a LONG time ago, but still have the guardian. The problem I’m running into is I really like the engineer profession, but as I reach search it seems like you have to run at lease 2 kits to be effective in pvp, wow, and dps. I don’t like running anymore then one kit if that. I use to play a full elixir eng and really liked him.

The big question, is a full elixir engineer possible to play at max level DPS, WVW and pvp? An be useful? If not , and I need to pick another profession and suggestion? I like being able to support others ether with protections, or healing.

First of all engi is quite pain to exp and really open up at 80 so hold up:-)
Playing with multiple kits isnt as complicated as it looks you usualy use only 1-2 skill from one kit in main rotation and its just matter of memorizing.
Full elixir builds are still viable in SPvP and solo roaming in WvW but definetly not in dungeons.
But You can also try ele its much easier to handle then engi and not that boring to play as some other classes

why isnt this kit good? im using full celestial right now and it seems to do alot of damage and has a stomp secure also. the tool belt skill hits for 1.5k for 3 shots so if they fully tick its 4.5k im really new to engi i have had one but this is the last of my 8 chars i lvled to80

It looks like lot of damage but actualy its not compare to bombs or nades.

Problem of Fumigate is it dont clean condis from you. Like no other classes have simillar self punishing barriers like engi (Overcharged Shot and so on).

Really cool change can be if Fumigate will work as eles Cleansing Wave (I hope its right skill name:-P) where you can be also affected by that spray when you runing forward while casting skill.

I play since headstart every day 10+ hours and still love it because there so much stuff to do everytime.
I think key is loving mmos. Some ppl come here are guided to lvl 80 and then they are lost because they dont know what to do and are bored by stuff what mmos usualy provide. If you dont like stuff like dungs, pvp and farming in general you should rather go play some single player games. Its like complaining about lack of swordfights in Need for Speed series its simply something what isnt there.

This is incorrect. Bombs have higher direct dps. They have lower personal dps(direct+condition) than grenades in both groups and solo.
When soloing you should rotate between bomb and grenade but grenade auto is superior because it procs on crit stuff like bleeds more effectively.

Its dont work that way. With zerk gear and 25 might are condis about 10-15% of your dps with nades and direct dps of nades AA is about 30% lower than bomb AA. They stack vulnerability better yes but if you have other vulnerability from party members are bombs far better.

Not mention party condis overide and have cap so overall condi damage of full buffed zerk party is about 8% of their dps. Direct damage is always better in party:-)

We’re not just looking at the skill1 though are we? aren’t the other skills coming into play? Or is the discussion simply about the auto attacks, because then yes bombs have a higher coefficient. But, personally I don’t use the 1 skill on nades all that often, spend much of the time jumping between kits hitting the bigger damage skills.

Just not sure how to build for WvW. Mostly run with the zerg. When there is one. More or less have to run by myself.

Survivabilty if my main key. I am old and can be slow on the buttons. Not even sure which race to go with. Little guys look fun.

You can definetly try my zerg build (link in signature) Massive survability and basicly only skill you use is FT1 for tagging all those poor walking bags:-)
That build is for running in front line on commander its based on heal per kill so more target you hit with FT more invincible you will be.
And its basicly useless for solo roaming you can survive 1v3 forever but no chance to kill someone by yourself.

Right now its good ballance between damage, flying speed and aiming. I think main problem is that players use nades on melee so no aim or flying time needed. Maybe simillar range dps boost based on range like mesmer GS 1?

Now I don’t hit the max DPS rotation but I do think swapping back and forth between kits is crucial to maximizing your play.

I generally do:
Barrage/incendiary ammo->FT->Napalm->Flame Blast/Detonate -> Healing Turret/Detonate -> EG -> Acid Bomb/Cancel->Drop kit -> Jump Shot -> Blunderbuss -> Grenade Kit -> Shrapnel -> Freeze Grenade -> FT -> Flame Blast/Detonate -> Grenade kit auto till shrapnel back up -> FT -> Flame Blast/Detonate -> EG -> Acid Bomb -> Grenade kit rotation till Barrage is back up and start again.

Doing this I can get 4 blasts in my Napalm while getting my big hitters nearly on cooldown, it could be further optimized but this is good enough for me.

And a few talked about using Bomb auto… Absolutely if you’re just soloing around the open world, but when you get into group play the 2 extra stacks of vuln per attack with grenades is quite nice and not worth passing up IMO.

I made quick test with dps metter and differnce between that crazy Nade/FT/EG rotation and this simple Bomb/Nade/EG rotation was around 400 dps (overall dps was a bit over 13k). Time what you spend on swaping is time when you loosing dps.

Simplier rotations are often more effective (even when they are bit weaker on paper) because its faster to memorize, easier to handle and much more mistakeproofed.

I checked out Nikes rotation, but wow…. FT 5 then 4 switch to EG hit 4 cancel throw back switch rifle hit 3 then 5 then tool belt skill….omg. I’m all for multitasking but I get so focused on hitting specific buttons, I’m not even looking at the screen anymore to find out if I’m even hitting anything!
Suggestions welcome, altho as the header suggests, I’m sure I’ll get some responses that’ll make me regret asking lol

Rotation of Nikes build is unneccessary complicated and practicly works only on training golems where arent any other distractions to perfect rotation. You dont need swap back and forth multiple times just because there is skill just on cd. You will lose minimal dps if you simply use one kit to kit rotation and then spam autoattack few times.
Basicly something like Blunderbuss, Jumpshot → Shrapnel Grenade, Freeze Gremade → Acid Bomb → Spam Bomb 1 few times and repeat. Simple and very effective its just bit of memorizing. Toolbelt skills can be mostly casted while you casting something else so you dont need think about them as part of rotation simply use them on cd (later you can learn mid fight might stack ect but today fights arent usualy that long).

New Dragon!!!

As we all know, the remaining Dragon is an underwater dragon. This brings worry to a lot of people in the Guild Wars community regarding a new expansion/Living Story since quite frankly: under water combat sucks.

I have came up with a completely genius plan on how to fix this issue and will hopefully get Guild Wars 2 at its highest point in popularity yet!

So basically all the water gets frozen over because jormag is annoyed for some reason and all the monsters coming out of the water as frozen risen, including the dragon itself. Unable to go under water we venture through the frozen mountains with no space of water to be seen (therefore no underwater combat) searching for this monstrosity of a Dragon to hunt it down. 10/10

Change name of Defiance into “Ranger Teacher” and everytime last stack of it goes down all Rangers in 2000 ft range gets 2s nonblockable and uninterruptable knockdown:-)

Sry I post in multiple forums and often not read all responses so better whisp me here or in game:-) My basic rotation (without pre mightstacking rotation ect) is Blunderbuss→ Jumpshot→Pry Bar and spam bomb 1. SD skills everytime when they are on CD.

Spoj: Toolkit and Mines are optional. I even often run 6/6/0/0/2 with bombs/nades/eg (or bombs/nades/mines) in TA and SE where its more effective. But for example in CoE is better have toolkit for block and you can block golem spin and continue dps without dodging out and coming back so you dont lose dps. Its maybe silly use mostly bomb 1 but first it hits for 10k and second even there are skills with bit better dps you lose dps while switching kits so not much difference. And ofc its much more mistakeproof when you using less skills.

All content in this game is sadly designed for pure dps so sacrificing dps for some extra utility can looks cool but imo its just tame wasting.

The meta engi build is certainly less user friendly than your bomb kit build.

Well “engi meta build” is just an example of what I am talking about. I cant say its bad build but far from most effective. And as you said rotation is unneccessary complicated.
Now some noob copy it and is ofc very bad in playing it (sure he dont forget to tell you its meta so he dont even try something different) so he make even worse name for all engineers. And then ppl wanna kick you from speed run “because engi low dps” and its incredibly hard to convince them that engi has 2nd best dps in game because only thing they see around are meta builds what didnt reach max dps even if you run that overcomplicated rotation like a boss.

I understand it can be a frustrating for new players but look at that from veteran player perspective. We run dungs because its profiting not because its fun and usualy with low levels, newbies what dont know strategy, players without speedrun builds those runs take much longer and that can be also pretty frustrating and some ppl simple dont have that patience to teach strategies and carry lowbies everytime thats all. When you run that dungeon every day past 2 years you wanna do it fast and smooth.

Dont speak for everyone some of us old vets want the unpredictabitly there is with lowbies in group that dont know tactics to spice our runs up.
And why would you do something that aint fun? if all your after is profit maybe time to start flipping the tp?

Because fliping is even more boring?:-)
