So the problem isn’t that the footprints are backwards, the leg joints are misidentified.

So, how hard is it to adjust the basic char skeleton?

But they did say in a topic (I don’t have a link, sorry) that they are okay with people paying gold to jump to the end of a dungeon and yet here they say they are not okay with people not playing a thing they spent a lot of time on…….. to quote my lil sister; “All them lies they tell”.

I doubt it’s a case of them being ok with it.

More of a case of them TOLERATING it and choosing not to invoke some rules lawyering to try to define one person’s skill as an exploit.

There. I’ve summed up Dragon Ball.

This is without a doubt the most poorly designed content ArenaNet has ever released.

Strange, that doesn’t happen to me. Or it hasn’t. I wonder if this is some odd bug, or if you’re targeting someone who’s not in line of sight.

They are definitely in line of sight. Standing right next to me, hitting me until I’m dead. I can’t hit them though. It afflicts me about 50% of the matches I go into. I wind up just feeding the other team kills because I can’t help out in any way.

I get it too, and not just in DB. There are a lot of situations where I cannot hit something with a projectile because it is standing in the way of itself. Or I cannot attack at all because I am at point blank range. Attacks WILL NOT GO OFF. Utterly ridiculous.

On topic: I enjoy the game when I can find a fair matchup, but that’s harder than hell. Usually I come in to a game on a short-staffed team who is losing by a wide margin.

I don’t think that works out in the wild, though, since everyone gets downscaled and you see them with a lower level green number with an arrow pointing down next to it to indicate they are actually higher level than the zone.

There are a few places in the wild where it can happen, usually at a boundary between regions. The southwest entrance of Mole’s Head will have suspiciously weak enemies if you don’t go too far in.

[SUGGESTION]: Reverse DB daily requirements

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sariel V.7024

Sariel V.7024

Problem: To complete the Dragon Festival dailies, one is required to play at least 2 matches of Dragon Ball. For completists, you must also win 5 matches. This requires playing at least 5 matches, but more likely entails double that amount or more. Losses are not rewarded, and players’ time is limited. One outcome of this is that players are quickly abandoning matches where they feel they have no chance of winning in order to find a freshly starting one, causing a lot of team churn and forced side-changes.

Suggestion: Change the dailies so that 5 matches (win or lose) and two victories count towards completion. If a losing match will count towards daily achievements, players have more incentive to stay if they are losing or come into a match late. Poorer players will likely consider two victories less difficult to accomplish and readily doable inside of five matches. PvP haters will (hopefully) grumble less.

[SUGGESTION]: Make the New Content pointer point to Diving Goggles that have not been registered yet.

The problem with the Dive Master achievement comes when a particular jump doesn’t get counted for some reason, and the player hasn’t kept perfect track of his progress. When this happens, it becomes impossible to tell which jumps have been completed and which haven’t, because a jump that didn’t register once may not register multiple times, while one that has already registered will never register again.

Customer Support has already stated they will offer no help whatsoever in determining which jumps are still missing from the achievement, even though this is obviously being tracked in the player data somewhere,; else, there couldn’t be an achievement to begin with. Therefore, put part of your NPE to good use, and add unregistered Diving Goggles to the new content pointer discovery list once the player is of the proper level. This will void a lot of frustration being felt by players who have nearly finished this achievement, but find themselves stuck because one or two of their dives didn’t count. If a jump fails to be counted, then the pointer should still point to those goggles.

I understand that half of the Dive Master achievement is hunting down the goggles in the first place. Anyone that is serious about filling this out is already going to resort to a guide or the wiki to track down their locations, so that aspect is no longer really valid. Throw us a bone here

Perusing the API, I see only one scepter in the PvP only section. My guess: either it was renamed, or you’re not remembering the name right.

Only a couple of skins have been altered in the wardrobe move. Anything that existed before has a slot at the very least (some can not be acquired now, but that is a different problem). Check through the scepters and staves and see if one of those looks like the one you were thinking of.

Mystic Forge Recipes?

in API Development

Posted by: Sariel V.7024

Sariel V.7024

They might be intended to be a puzzle, but they certainly aren’t. They get documented on the wiki. The ones that don’t get documented allow a few people to control a niche in the market, which seems unfair to me.

So, I’d argue that it’s ok to hide undiscovered recipes from the API, but the greater good to the community is to expose known recipes to everyone.

I didn’t respond to this earlier, but I think it’s worth commenting on.

Combinations are documented on the wiki by players. Like everything else on the wiki, it is a sum total of knowledge that has been freely shared, generally elsewhere (guildwars2guru, reddit, armor-soft, these forums) and inscribed by people that are dedicated to getting it out into other people’s hands. The devs do not maintain the wiki.

Effectively, the wiki is a massive collection of spoilers, much like you would find on a message board. It provides shortcuts for just about any process in the game, including things you haven’t considered like discovery, exploration, and practice. People turn to it for a quick fix of knowledge, but either don’t realize (or, likely, don’t care) that it sucks a lot of the fun out things.

The early period of forge experimentation was a fun one, but with everyone recording the combinations for posterity, it can only happen once. John Smith revived this with his own little treasure hunt story. The spirit of discovery, exploration, and most of all, collaboration made it interesting and exciting; the only in-game experience that paralleled it was the hunt for Mad Memoires. And that was gone before he even finished the story. Someone figured out the last component without the last hint, and so ended the era of forge discoveries.

I say all this as an unabashed fan of the Atelier series, which uses a similar system. Do I think that we need to reinvent the wheel every time we want to make Infinite Light? Of course not. But there is a reason for the process as it is and I don’t advocate rushing it. This includes revealing the magicians’ secrets.

Mystic Forge Recipes?

Posted by: Sariel V.7024

Sariel V.7024

I will freely admit my reasoning harbors ulterior motives. With the wardrobe work I’d been doing, I determined Reaper of Souls was forgeable (around mid-September) and worked every night to figure out its combination. I don’t have much in the way of in-game resources, so I codified a method and adhered to it. The amount of note-taking I put in was ridiculous.

I was somewhat irked when the combination was indirectly revealed by John Smith – a month’s work down the drain. I’d always steeled myself for the possibility of someone else finding it before I did, but not with the help of a developer breaking the usual pattern of silence ;D

So, yeah, this one is personal ;D

Why would a private section within a PvE map (That’s right, ‘A’ map), as per OP’s request, where FFA and PvP gameplay is allowed, with spectators to enjoy and bet on players (maybe?), where one can duel any friends of any server with food and full gear buffs be harmful to the PvE community?

Here is your answer:

The minority of PvPers are jerks who harass, at one point or another, every single PvEer who might be in the area of the arena with duel requests (through whispers if we auto decline) and subsequent name calling and demeaning comments when we refuse.

Nope.

Made a discovery today.

I assumed that all the Guild skin weapons were available in PvP, and the Guild Speargun skin would then have been PvP-only. This is not true; none of the Guild weapons or weapon skins were ever available in PvP, as best I can tell. There are no equivalent weapons with the same skins and PvP-only tags in the API.

This means the Guild Speargun is not a PvP-only skin. Its consumable is missing from the Guild Weapon merchant. It SHOULD be available.

Autobalance in PvP doesn't award a win.

I just raised this one in regards to Dragon Ball. In DB, you get nothing for winning or for losing, other than that win credit. I’m sitting at 90% on the leaderboard, which I only know because the thread got me curious. And you know how many prizes that’s won me? Zilch.

The leaderboard is not a measure of achievement, even if it compares achievement points. It is not a measure of skill, as a lot of dungeon-runners will be quick to tell you. It is an indicator of how long a player has been involved with the game and his ability to meet the hoops that ANet asks you to jump through. That’s it.

No one is grading you on your leaderboard standing. You will not be considered more highly for a government post because you finished SAB trib mode. You will not be given a legendary anything for being in the top 100. You don’t even get a title!

Get over yourself. I got straight A’s in high school; how many of you give a kitten? Right. The inability to catch up with the players on the bleeding edge is only a blow to your ego. Realize that some goals are not only untenable but utterly pointless outside of bragging rights, and go have fun elsewhere. You’ll be a happier person.

PSA: Never volunteer to switch sides at DB

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sariel V.7024

Sariel V.7024

The current state of Dragon Ball is such that once a team gets a sizable lead, the losers start to bail out in hopes of finding a winning team in a different game. When there is more than a two-man gap in team size, the winning team will be polled to see if anyone would be willing to switch sides, promising a win bonus even if you lose.

Since you aren’t awarded anything for winning, switching sides results in you getting nothing at all if you lose. Not even a win credit for your achievement track, which is pretty much the only reason to be playing other than to have fun. You are better off continuing to play and hoping you don’t get picked to give up your victory.

Hopefully the devs get some sort of fix in to discourage this, preferably granting a win point to a willing volunteer.
