This is why RNG RMT exists: so that those who are hated by luck MUST can buy gems to exchange for gold to get the items they need want.

FTFY. I’ve been here since launch and never once used conversion. I’m fully kitted out in exotic gear, save for some trinkets which I could make at any time on my maxxed Jeweler. Probably 70-80% of my gear is crafted. You only resort to Real Money Transactions if you haven’t got a shred of patience or intelligence. If my guildie can make X00g in a day hanging out in PvE, it stands to reason anyone can.

Then I’ve been playing for roughly the same amount of time he has, but I land my precursor 2 years time, and despite its worthlessness (35g) compared to the other pres in the market, It poses a question if the game is naturally picking people who are to get lucky when they create their account. To support this, there are a number of YouTube videos where people get more precursors forge tossing, and they all the sudden become outliers.

Just to address these two points:

1. The system as it stands is (or at least really should be) agnostic of the value that players put in the item. All items of a particular status are treated equally, even if you think Venom sucks compared to Dawn.

2. Calling outliers outliers is redundant.

2.a. The vast majority who are getting failures don’t make videos for other people to see, since they have nothing to brag about. If someone posting strings of videos of successes has a run that is all failures, do you think they’re going to show that? Hell no. That run gets secreted away, and it skews what you think their success rate is.

Ultimately, lots of successes come from lots of tries. Like the lottery, you can’t win if you don’t play. If you get lucky once or twice, that allows you to keep playing a whole lot more.

They didn’t have a mission, Faolain decided that she wanted to go get Wynne

I’ll need to replay the intro chapter, but that was my impression too.

As far as good, evil, and sanity go, Faolain seems obviously a sociopath, even at this early stage of life. That excludes her from the discussion of normal motivations.

Come to think of it, it seems most of the NPCs that snap are sylvari.

They already have implemented something which allows them to be opened for free – black lion keys drop extremely rarely from mobs (I’ve seen 2 drop in just over 2,000 hours) and can occasionally come from map completion.

For that, refer back to my first post.

Of course, someone will point out that you don’t have to grind for the luminescent armor … and I think I will indeed call it a day here. The regular armor will do.

That won’t be me… If you think bladders suck, just wait.

Good luck trying to complete these events successfully with 10 other people when the story has moved on from Silverwastes.

There are full overflows, but they are a pain in the kitten to get in to. People aren’t ferrying often.

I don’t mind the grind too much… investigating the wardrobe is my current hobby, I have patience, and I’m not going to pursue this to the exclusion of everything else. But I haven’t RNGed any of the new parts as yet, despite trying, and since these things are only accumulating, I’m not looking forward to it. I already have to kill 3 of these bosses 6 more times and one 5 more times, minimum, to get the body parts I need. Next week, add 4 more sorties each, if they hold to pattern. That’s roughly 40 attempts, barring duplicates and forgetting to use the kitten extractor. That’s about like getting a suit of armor out of a dungeon.

I think there should be an incentive to kill all mobs instead of only bosses, to do more than just killing one mob to get the event chest or kill all mobs in a dungeon instead of speed clearing it.

There is, and it is exactly as you have already said it. More drops, which are affected by your MF. But most players value their time more than additional chances to the pittances of copper most monsters carry, the usual 16 c piece of vendor trash you are most likely to receive, or next-most-common the blue or green item you’ll have to salvage to make a few silver off of. No, they’d rather focus on those champ sacks and the single gold they know they WILL get on completion, so why wait to get to that point?

It would help if the minimum dungeon enemy level wasn’t Veteran, and a player could reasonably cut through a few of them like a knife through butter. I know this would hurt the challenge, but it doesn’t have to applied dungeon-wide.

Still .. its a little “unfair” to let people first push their MF, and then suddenly create
more and more content where it doesn’t work.

What would you say if they for example suddenly create zones where you run
around in a generic outfit all the time instead to show the expensive outfit you have
grinded for ?
Or where armor stats suddenly don’t count anymore.

The content where it does not work is the same kind of content where it didn’t work before: events featuring endless spawning enemies, and champion bags. The former is inconsistently applied but generally true enough to be a rule of thumb. The latter has never been any other way.

Both of these situations are overly prized by farmers, become farmed to death, and generally lead to infighting over something or other (usually, some version of who has ‘rights’ to say when and how these things will be farmed. The answer btw is nobody). This is why these things will never change.

If you want your MF to matter, then you need to stop thinking like the typical zerg farmer. Kill enemies out on the fringe, which are governed by different spawning rules and untied to events.

@Sariel: I have no idea what that is so I googled it. No I didn’t see that. the Death Blossom name came from the Thief Off-Hand Dagger skill of the same name. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Death_Blossom

The movie preceded GW1 by several years, and in-context, seems pretty obvious it’s the source of the name.

1. BLCs and BLKs are ANet’s cash cow. I seriously doubt they are going to implement anything that allows them to be opened for free.
2. If they did do so, I see it working one of two ways:
2.a. Lockpicks either fail too often for most people’s liking, which exacerbates complaints of RNG for RNG, or
2.b. Lockpicks are too rare for most people’s liking, which exacerbates complaints of RNG for RNG for RNG.
3. Making these drops with any kind of reliability would turn someplace into yet another farming plot with all the venom those seem to engender lately.

To Whom It May Concern,

Every time I get a Shatterered, Broken, or Bent Lockpick I feel like I’ve been kicked in the gut. Was this your intention? To laugh at us old Guild Wars veterans and the good memories we had of whole, unbroken lockpicks that could be used? To spite us with never being able to claim a lockpick from a bandit or pirate without breaking it first?

I propose that intact lockpicks become a rare drop AND that they have a low chance of opening Black Lion chests. What say you?

Well I remember the “glass crowbars” of old. I also remember their ridiculous cost, their ridiculous fail rate, their ridiculous drop rate, and the uselessness of the things you tended to get with them. I see no difference between them and the Black Lion Keys we have now.

Edit: Wait, there is one. BLKs don’t contribute to any sort of ‘luck enhancement’.

3. Move the soulbound collection item from storage to the character’s inventory.
4. Stare in befuddlement and reboot game.
5. Post-crash, item is unlocked in the collection.

Crash isn’t repeating itself for me, so it may be a one-time deal.

What am I to do with luck now that I’m max magic find???
1) Click it as it infinitely continues to collect
2) Destroy it as it infinitely continues to collect
3) Collect it and hope they give it a purpose
= Currently a Never Ending Pointless Waste of Space/Time

Solutions:
1) Stop giving luck after 300% mf (give 1-5 copper instead or whatever luck is worth)
2) Give it another purpose
-Turn it into vendor currency on special vendor
-Give it vendor value
-[Insert usage here]

Stop using cheap storytelling techniques like cliffhangers to keep people “hooked” and instead just tell a good story and tell a good portion of it every two weeks.

Was originally going to berate you on this, but examining the point turned me around.

I don’t think cliffhangers are bad, and at this stage in the story we can fully expect them between episodes. But if we’re going to liken this to a tv series or a miniseries, then we can expect some plot elements (or subplot elements) to be resolved by chapter’s end. We did have that with the last chapter, in finally catching up with the MoP and him dying, but the overall resolution felt weak because Caithe’s actions and characterization were way too ambiguous. Overall I keep seeing a lot of loose ends that get their due nod but remain loose and poorly explored.

Not for Caithe’s lover, nope already evil right from the beginning.
It makes me wonder why Mother Tree didn’t just burn her body before it emerged.

I’m hoping we eventually learn that by allowing the Nightmare Court to dabble in their evil-for-the-lulz, the Pale Tree is able to exert some measure of control over them, or at least monitor them. The alternative being her attempts to hold on to them too tightly would drive them to becoming Soundless and leave them fully open to corruption.

Since I am obliged to post something spiteful regarding LS here, I will take the opportunity.

I haven’t liked the quality of the script for the last few episodes, particularly the wrap-up segments at their respective ends. I may or may not be able to write better, but I think I could have come up with something that doesn’t feel half-hearted, treats the characters with a bit more respect, and doesn’t make the player look dense. We need more than plot points with minimal dialogue that only serves as a surrogate exposition.

Thank you so much for the response, Joey. It’s great to hear that the highly-requested tribal armor will be making a return—hopefully it will be very soon! I’m now eagerly awaiting the chance to obtain this and all the other PvP sets!

I hope it will be harder than completing trivial PvP tracks we have now.

Dude, reward tracks would be absolutely fine. You already have the set, as you’ve repeatedly stated (rolls eyes), so how will it’s method of acquisition affect you in any way, shape, or form?

I dont want people to get stuff with less effort than I had to go through.

Ok, ok, but if these pieces were available through Achievement Chests, that’s pretty much a moot point.

As far as a track reward goes, that would make it a solid month of PvP play to get the whole set. I don’t count that as minimal effort.

From what I’ve read I have a 25 percent chance to get a scrap and it takes 10 scraps for a ticket and it takes five tickets for a weapon. Isn’t that a little bit ridiculous? Who has experience with the Black Lion chest dropping the tickets?is the drop rate really that bad? Is it even worth trying to get one?

Is it ridiculous? Yes, if you’re looking for an older weapon. The newest weapons are only one ticket (still sucks but not nearly so bad). In a couple of weeks, the Winter’s weapons will be returning for 2 tickets each; they left several months ago at 7 tickets each, but this is a trend I don’t foresee repeating itself much. If you like mostly dark weapons trailing little glowing snowflakes, get one while you can.

Full tickets are fairly rare. Scraps were dropping about 50% per chest during the last iteration. Chest contents were updated just yesterday, so no one knows what the drop rates are now.

As I said, this was the first stealth mission ever in GW2. Veterans were as clueless as new players. It was new to all players.

Actually it’s the second (there’s a painful Ash Legion heart in eastern Ascalon), but this one is the first with its mechanics.

Being a fan of stealth games, I had no trouble whatsoever. Most of the stealth mechanics are a straight port of Metal Gear Solid/VR Missions, and it required all of the time it took me to approach the first enemy to figure out how to take him down unseen. If you encountered a bug or suffer terrible lag, I’d give you a pass; but really, I don’t see this one as that difficult to figure out.

having caught up to the end of the thread, Mike Hawk calls it correctly. I understand these sylvari are barely adolescents, and Caithe would probably forgive Faolain after even the thinnest lie, but she ought to be smart enough to question what the hell was going on while her back was turned when F. is obviously hunting down their sister with no pretense of letting her go home alive.
