Would love this for my condi. She doesn’t have access to burning through her skillset, but the molochev kittentail does a ridiculous amount of it on its own.
Well, I hope they leave the original functionality in if they update the trait. I’m sure I’m in the minority, but there are a few bundle weapons I love using (Claw of Jormag’s flamethrower, the frost and lightning rifles in Mount Maelstrom). 10% Damage from this plus 15% from the Initiative I’m not using makes them all the more attractive.
Make sure all your inventory bags are fully expanded
possible epilepsy warning?
actually, yeah. they did.
Not an issue. You are not allowed to use most consumables there.
Seems a likely explanation though. Hie thee to a PvE area.
Maybe some… oh, I dunno… details…. would help.
Semantics aside, people opposing many in the list simply are arguing against having more options in the game. There is simply no reason to not add content to the game.
Break every option to its base: Add content. Everything in the list I summed up with two words. And outside of hardware or software limitations, there is NEVER an excuse to not add content to a MMO game.Disagree? Then name one GOOD reason (not listed below) why that is incorrect. Cause I’d honestly like to see it.
1. It ruins the game.
And that’s all I need? ’K.
Oh, oh, wait, I should elaborate.
Have you ever heard the phrase, “tacked-on”? How about “Afterthought”? “Pushed out the door”? “Doesn’t really belong”? “Distracts from the experience”? “Detracts from the experience”? It goes without saying that a shoddy addition is often less good than no addition at all.
But, let’s assume that ANet can at least produce some quality. So, ever hear the phrase, “Unintended consequence”? This one is the major one.
Let’s look at something that got added recently that only affects a few players. If they want to be involved. Maize Farming -I’m sure you heard of it. Use a consumable to generate free expensive loot from npcs that otherwise have little value to the average player. Innocuous, right?
Except now you have packs of these maize farmers setting up shop in various places dictating to other players that it is now “their spot,” and kitten you if you think you can do anything in that area that might somehow interfere with their means of ‘having fun’ (read: getting gold the easy way). You can’t work on weapon master with ‘their’ ambient critters. You can’t kill ‘their’ critters, not even by accident, without accusations of griefing. And you sure as kitten cannot get them to go somewhere else, not even if you were there first.
Let’s backtrack now to the dueling bit that I snipped.
You think dueling, an inherently aggressive activity, has no means of bleeding over into non-dueler play? GW1 was bad enough when you had PvP players screaming at PvE players because they didn’t play ‘their way’. All you’d need with this system is some dueler (or a pack thereof) needing his kitten stroked to monopolize some resource and demand people to fight him for it. Opportunities for this are limited, but they still exist, as I just demonstrated with maize farming.
Further there is the damage to the ambiance and community spirit of the game. Competitive play was separated from open world for this very reason. When you have to worry that you or a party member might get bushwhacked by some kitten who is dying to compare the size of his kitten, it makes most players leery about who they go near.
You have a very pure conception of these additions, not only in how they will be implemented, but in that they can be shoehorned in with zero ripple effects, that they cannot or will not be the cause of griefing, that they will have safeguards that will always work, that they will have no impact on game balance, and that there is no one gleefully wringing his hands over the prospect of inventively kittening over someone’s day with them. And opting in/out? There’s always ways around it, provided one can find a way to pressure someone else into giving in. This is why even the option must not exist.
1. Mounts :
Not needed. WP System is the existing solution of going fast from place to place. Those who want mounts want just another tier of collectibles to get busy. Not a real use out of it.2.Duelling : PvP in GW2 is built around teamwork and classes are optimized/nerfed/buffed around this system. Some classes are clearly superior to others and inferior to some. Duelling would be just frustrating.
3.Open World PvP : Reason for Trolling. Hate between players. Factions dont fit into current story of all against Elder Dragons.
4.Holy Trinity : Please no. 1 Step closer to generic MMO.
8 : DPS Meter. Inspect Gear. Inspect Gear is actuall a nice addition. DPS meter would just be one step closer to generic one best build/equipment approach. Destroys variabilty and forces everyone use the same build.
12. Player to Player Trading : Did you ever played Diablo 2? Reason for bans, hate frustrating and new chinese player explosion.
wow u are so d…. first of all people already are using the same build is called BERSERK ER gear second of all dueling is nice add u don’t have to duel if you are noob let the rest of us enjoy having fun in towns dueling for fun wasting time in this game and 3 there is reason why there is holy trinity you can create awesome content whit that mode inside your kittening game raids pvp dungeons right now we have shallow copy of and mmo staking and killing in dungeons not smart play no positioning no healing there is no support role there is no tank role there is no need its only DPS rush it always was that so adding that and the dps meter will only improve this game
you CAN always REFUSE DUEL in any MMO if u are not good or you dont enjoy it dont play it but I LIKE IT there is THING in option click it ALWAYS refuse DUEL so you can always play the same game why the kitten u are so afraid of OPTIONS you dont have to use it let the rest of us ENJOY this is so selfish so so so selfish
Wait… did you just get kittened off at yourself?
BTW, petulant much? And I won’t even go into the pot calling the kettle black.
They jinxed themselves. Never name anything “: Part 1”.
Sounds like a ska band… they’re still a thing, right?
I like the idea (particularly if it gets the PvP in PvE people to shut up). The major snag is that the maps are inherently unbalanced. You’ve probably noticed that all the existing PvP maps are symmetrical. So you likely won’t see a perfect clone of a particular area if they decide to go this route.
Indeed.
Unintended consequence of the enforcement: farmers get to hold the area hostage.
I guess we all need GM friends.
My response on the reddit thread seems pretty pertinent here:
“Can I request my own megaserver shard for private farming?”

Just to reiterate, the day they add this kitten is the day I quit this game for good. I don’t play GW2 to live in fear of being ganked by spiteful players while trying to do ANYTHING.
Then profess common sense, and not foolishness.
Time to update my game rules.
After several days of trying, I finally told map chat, “20 gold to anyone who can port me for the not so secret diving achievement.” I got really lucky, and two players kept porting my friends and I for half an hour or more. My point: ask for help in map chat.
It’s really sad if you had to resort to actual payment. I have seen this JP and the high jump itself being portalled several times for free/tips.
Definitely, ask for help, because this is bar-none the toughest JP outside of trib-mode SAB.
Hard to call it a bug when they’ve said it was an intentional change.
The reason for it is to expand the results list of things you can get from the forge. Let’s face it, if you’re throwing 4 80s into it, you didn’t need them to begin with.
Precursor return rates are unaffected.
5) Play another game, you’re obviously really bored.
And who are you to tell people what to do ?
Lunar Sunset.8742
The day after I finished Frenzy (bought Rage on the TP, it was cheap, nobody wants underwater weapons), I threw in some random rares in the Forge. And got the precursor with the skin I wanted ever since I saw it in the PvP locker: the Hunter. I got it earlier this year, and I only found out last week there’s another exotic that shares its skin…
Which Exotic shares skins with the Hunter? I was under the impression that it was the sole Precursor that didn’t have a shared skin.
The only rifle that shares the skin with The Hunter is the Plated Sniper Rifle. This was a PvP-only skin you obtained from the PvP forge and it is no longer available.
Rodgort’s precursor is also unique.
I noticed that I too melted very quickly on stacking with the NPC’s during this encounter. Given that the previous instances have taught us to listen to the dialogue for clues on how to do the fights, this is a very mean trick indeed.
I think the dialogue wasn’t intended as a trick and meant to be followed… in some way shape or form. The writing for this episode felt seriously subpar compared to the previous ones. Given how short it is, the thing may have been rushed.
This is hardly the first time this has been tried
Stuff that got fixed:
skin name: #itemID
- Primitive Cowl: #50395 #50396
- Duelist Gloves: #50194 #50222
- Duelist Pants: #50198 #50231
- Rogue Mask: #50228
- Buccaneer Boots: #50200 #50212
This Patch fixed all the (currently) known armor items without skin unlocks… yay
Verified. I started tracking these things in May. It’s nice to see them all fixed.
Now for the whole host of other issues…. ;D
What I don’t get is the name and description. Jungle outfit and “Getting ready to go into the jungle” when it seems like we are getting further away from Maguuma Jungle like the Magus Falls area.
Remember the nature of your adversary. Give it time.
B-b-b-but muh immersion!!!

Oh, I thought this was about using a Norn as a trident.
By Whitebear’s Fishsticker. what savings!
No, doesn’t have that ring.
I first stumbled onto this thing when it was a Personal Story reward (Hunting Trident, or something like that) and thought it was something unique. I held on to it even though I had long ago found something more powerful. It seriously does not fit with the Norn weapon theme.
There are a lot of underwater skins that didn’t get translated into actual weapons after the release of the Wardrobe. If you’re going to make this trident into a staff, please ensure that all of these skins find a means of acquisition!
Will the yakkington back piece which says it shares a skin with Koss on Koss, unlock that skin in the Style guide collection? (wiki says so on the style guide page, just looking for a confirmation. It would be an expensive misstep. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/There_with_Yakkington:_A_Traveler%27s_Tale
It should. I don’t have it myself but all the variables involved pan out. It has the right skin, and the wardrobe unlock is what the collection is based off of.
In relation to the second question, is there an infused recipe for Wylenn’s Manual of Style, the reward from the style guide achievement. It doesnt say there is, but it doesnt say that their isnt either which seems like it would be something to note as it is ascended. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wylenn%27s_Manual_of_Style
The Manual of Style is an Accessory. Accessories don’t get infused (yet).
There’s a way to expectedly get a precursor, outside the TP?
Yes. I have a guildie who did forge dumps with enough trials to statistically ‘ensure’ one or two pres. He was fairly confident of the results and tended to make money on it.
Most unexpected? My next one.
I don’t really have an issue with the rng as it stands. It tends to favor me in spurts. My definition of favor is a lot more lenient than most people’s here, however. I’m happy with the occasional exotic, and I’m getting more of those lately by playing with rares in the forge.
I would like to raise awareness of one particular thing.
ANet has rarely if ever given us something permanent without applying some kind of cost or taking something else away. You may well get some kind of improved system for rationing drops, but you’ll need to consider what might get yanked off the table when that happens.
If and when they decide to implement some kind of new token system, it had better be put into the wallet or some other form of UI, and not my kitten inventory. I have enough junk.
I don’t believe the collections are bugged, more like they weren’t intended to be released yet.
An alternative is to progress the personal story on a character until you get to the one in the sewers in LA. Doesn’t solve the main issue but it’s a workaround.
Maize balm can be used in Personal Story instances, but it produces nothing. I don’t think that helps.
Here’s the problem. He’s not necessarily wrong.
If the guy is using an autoattack to work on Weapon Mastery, that’s not griefing. That he has set up shop in your favorite spot sucks, but it doesn’t change the fact that he has a legitimate reason to be there doing what he is doing, and he’s using legitimate in-game mechanics to do it on autopilot. Farmers don’t own the instance, and he likely set up shop in their absence. Getting in his face about it will make you look like the griefer. Players have been using that instance to get Weapon Mastery kills for a lot longer than the maize balm has been around, and there’s no reason to expect that would stop just because you or anyone has found a way to make money off of it instead.
Now, if he’s sitting there making snide comments and deliberately attempting to antagonize anyone that comes his way, you have a case. His intentions are then clearly to get in someone’s face about what he is doing. But you didn’t mention such evidence, so I don’t know that you have it.
The reverse is true if you substitute a maize farmer for the weapon mastery farmer, except you can’t do the former on auto-pilot. Yeah, it sucks you can’t easy-mode Weapon Mastery while someone else is killing those ambients, but that doesn’t make it griefing.
At the end of the day, one of you is monopolizing a limited resource, and there is no rule or recourse that requires anyone to share it. But this is balanced by the fact that no one has exclusive rights to that resource. Both your desires be kitten ed. What happens if a third party enters this arrangement? Who gets to use the spot?
There’s plenty of other places to find ambient critters in, so the argument that either of you couldn’t do it elsewhere falls flat; it’s just not as convenient, not impossible.
A GM explained his handling of a very similar situation over on reddit. A player moved in on a maize farm and began killing the ambients. The farmer happened to be buddies with the GM and sent him a message. The GM moved the other player to his own server, where he could kill critters in peace. But that player kept returning to the original server to get in the way of the farmer, and when he wouldn’t return any messages, he was suspended. It was obvious he wanted more than to just use the resource there; he specifically wanted to deny it to anyone else.
I asked how I’d be able to get my own private overflow to farm whichever with, but I didn’t get a response.
We should go with Mountebank. Then the next time we get some idiot post demanding mounts, we can say they’re already in-game.
Tequatl should drop a Hashi IMO,it suits him better.
Drop a bridge? How is that equivalent?
This was an item that used to be available in Queensdale, not too far from the gate into Divinity’s Reach. There were 6 different colors of Rabbit’s Foot (orange, blue, red, purple, yellow, green), and each were identical. That is to say, the only thing they offered was an upgrade slot.
You spent a fairly hefty chunk of coin for a level 2 character to get one, all for a mostly useless item.
There are level 80 Rare versions mixed in with the craftables data (Pink, White, and White. Yes, two Whites). They have stats and gem upgrades included. I don’t think they’re in the game in any capacity.
There are level 80 Fine and Masterwork Rabbit’s Feet (no color specified) that appear to be from a Karma Vendor.
If the item is like its brethren, it should have stats equal to its level +6 (or 9). It should also be exotic. This is at a level when you can’t even get masterwork gear, so it should be useful for some time to come.
You’re right, though, making it a level when you can’t even equip it is silly.
IMO, OoW has far better representation in the world at large than the other two combined. There’s more exclusive dialogue, more secret places and hidey-holes, and in general a greater sense of actually interfacing with your order than the other two offer. In other words, it’s the coolest option and makes the other two look particularly lame. It’s about time the Whispers took a back seat and let the others have a moment in the sun.
- Our character insistes about being discret. Someone apparently betrayed us.
By telling anyone we’ve had connections with.
If my character were in the OoW, she would probably be ‘missed’ for being too big of a liability.
As it is, she’s Vigil and would probably be up for a court-martial is this were an official mission.
I know, I’ve been derelict and let an update or two pass. I’ll look into this more tonight
As far as Corrupted Weapons not unlocking Etched and similar issues…… I am… disincentivized to look into that due to the cost of the appropriate materials and desire for unlocks.
As it turns out, the PvP skin rewards are in fact posted on the wiki. The only one that appears to have a shot of being back is Legionnaire Harpoon It’s going to be a minimum of roughly two weeks for me to find out.
Paying gems to access content that was already available is like paying a company to sell you tap water bottled from your mains water supply.
….
Define “fly” . . . is that throwing it at the ground and missing? Because I can totally have that happen.
Well, according to the fourth and absolute worst book of a particularly good comic trilogy, you’d be right.
You’re right. “I ain’t learning this kittening list,” is not straightforward, and not helpful. Let me rephrase.
DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME CHOOSING NAMES THAT ENSURE YOU ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO BE INVITED WITH, BECAUSE RIGHT-CLICK-INVITE FAILS 80% OF THE TIME.
(edited by Sariel V.7024)
Look a little closer at your list. Jormag’s Breath, the FDS, the Crossing, Cobalt, and Volcanus are also light sources and none are legendaries. They only work for the user, however.
Haha absolutely true! I got rekt and downed the first time doing this fight by that nonsense. I had the audacity to trust him for a second time before getting downed again. After that I just took it to mean he would stand still long enough for some Ice Bow 4 and Meteor Showers.
Actually a very easy fight with and without the challenge node. Just ignore the moron NPCs.
You know…. this is perfectly canon. Why the heck would you trust fighting tips from a pacifist?

Sounds logical, Owain was pretty keen on omlette too.
Kinda funny how it’s usually the Sylvari that goes batkitten.
