or is something that no one has discovered (but can exist in the current version of the game), not shown in the wardrobe?

To specifically answer this question: [&AgHXrgAA]

It fits all your criteria. Not discovered. Not in wardrobe. Can exist in the current version of the game (but does not currently exist, and likely never will).

with the new wardrobe system, wouldn’t we be able to see skins that we have not discovered yet?

or is something that no one has discovered (but can exist in the current version of the game), not shown in the wardrobe?

This is a segment I think no player really has solid answers for.

With the item api (which is a means of accessing information on all the items in the game), items are supposed to be entered into the roster of items as they are instantiated (crafted, dropped, bought, or whatever makes an actual item in someone’s inventory). Sometimes, items are missing from the roster even though they are probably out in someone’s inventory in the game (the various cultural armors still have pieces missing). And sometimes, they’ll be in the API even though no one has ever brought one into being (lots of recipe sheets entered the API when they updated the recipe icons a few weeks back).

The skins api (same as above, but for weapons and armor skins, plus an outfit or two) pretty much mirrors the wardrobe. It also specifies skins that will not show up in the wardrobe until the player has discovered them. When there have been errors with items pointing to empty references in the skins api, those items wouldn’t unlock skins in the wardrobe for the user. This suggests the wardrobe is either strongly tied to the apis, or both are referencing a third component that actually maintains control.

But the wardrobe isn’t always correct. We saw this recently when it and the skins api displayed Belinda’s sword as an Iron Greatsword, and at that point, the only people that should have had one was Belinda and maybe ANet devs – no players. Then the item disappeared off the wardrobe and the api, but clearly it was still around, because it came back as Belinda’s Greatsword. There’s also the cases of Destroyer Staff, Reaper of Souls, and Worn Voltaic Spear, which are in the wardrobe but no player has come forward with ever owning (that’s hardly proof since forum-goers are a small percentage of players, but if there are any out there, you’d think someone would have pulled one out to brag at some point).

The point here is, be careful of the assumptions that seem obvious based upon what you can see, because there are anomalies and always the possibility of mistakes slipping through.

True, but I wasn’t speaking on the seasonal minis that used the season mats. I suppose I should make that more clear. I was just curious as to whether or not someone was able to discover a recipe using a non seasonal mini and non seasonal mats. (like the stuffed ventari from the first winters day)

I asked that question in the other topic and unfortunately, i would say that neither minis or weapon/armor recipes are left to be discovered, otherwise their empty slot would show up in the wardrobe/collectible tab, which (as far as i know) isnt the case.

There’s an empty weapon slot, but it’s not in the wardrobe.
It’s in the API.
Between items 31034 and 31108, 31107 is still unidentified.

Then, if I am correct, they will be available for use with the new collection achievements, which is going to include consumables and who knows what else at this stage.

If I am wrong, then you’ve only cluttered up your storage for 5 days and can dispose of them how you wish.

If they include some lore bit about humans hunting tengu for magical speed implements …. well, someone ought to reward them for that one XD

With the situation during the invasion of LA, I can understand why they were killing anyone that came to the gates. There’s no easy way to identify who’s a civilian and who’s a pirate hellbent on pillaging. Heck, the civilians of LA ARE pirates, or descended from them.

Mordremoth, however, went straight through the Dominion of Winds to stick some tendrils into LA, so there’s probably no way the Tengu will be able to sit this one out. The wall is already breached.

And here I thought this would be a Rox/Braham shipping thread.

As proto-minions, I can see the Svanir ‘joining’ in the fight, because Mordremoth is encroaching on Jormag’s territory. I figure it more likely it’ll be a situation where “The enemy of my enemy sure as hell isn’t my friend,” and they’ll go it alone.

The NC I think would be happy to have the Pale Tree dead by any means and might surreptitiously help Mordremoth… at least until the dragon starts to dominate them, which is effectively why they were fighting the Pale Tree in the first place.

Marauder Helm is also a rare medium armor drop. It is the only part of that set that is generally available.

Items without skin unlock

item name – item ID – chat link

  • Koss on Koss
The skin Koss on Koss ([&C0gJAAA=]) is NOT unlocked from the following items:
    • Book of Secrets – #37009 – [&AgGRkAAA]
    • Book of Secrets (Infused) – #49370 – [&AgHawAAA]
    • Symon’s History of Ascalon – #37005 – [&AgGNkAAA]

    • Tome of the Rubicon – #37007 – [&AgGPkAAA]
    • Tome of the Rubicon (Infused) – #37016 – [&AgGYkAAA]

These items do look similar to Koss on Koss, but perhaps should have their own skins. Tome of the Rubicon is a different color than KoK, and the wiki picture for Book of Secrets is actually just a copy of the one for KoK, so you can’t be sure if it’s really the same.

  • Stalker Boots

You must however give the player some feedback on why they died.

Ok, your right. Whenever this happend ANet should write into the battle-log: “You got 1-hitted, because your lousy armor wasn’t able to reduce the damage below your lousy amount of life. To avoid such situations in the future, increase your Toughness and vitality.”

Or, more appropriately: “You have max stats and armor. You were one-shot, because we could. Ha ha. Nana-nana booboo.”

I wonder why events have no surprise rewards now and then. Imagine having the chance for things like these when getting a gold medal:

  • sometimes a surprising champion loot box
  • rarely a mystic forge key
  • rarely a dye
  • rarely a mini
  • rarely a lodestone
  • very rarely a rune of holding (to craft 18 or 20slot bags)
  • very rarely a rare dye
    etc.etc.

Simply a huge (seriously huge – anything could drop) loot-table. What I loved during the personal story: Rewards where you could choose one out of 3 items. Do this for events, people would love it. BUT with interesting rewards, cut the blues and greens & junkitems.

The thing is: when people know there is a chance (and even the slightest one) of getting something really really rare, they go miles to get it.

I think you’ve summed up the main problem with that last sentence. You’ll see what should have been a fun rarity die in the face of a frothing farmfest.

After the wardrobe update you only need 1 and a regular ascended weapon to apply the skin to.

This left many people with useless duplicate legendaries.

At no point did those weapons become useless. They’re still best-in-class, as people like to bandy the phrase, and they kill critters just as readily.

As for now having two identical special snowflakes that could now be rubberstamped across their whole account…. well, frankly, they’re putting too much value in a collection of shiny pixels to begin with if they can’t congratulate themselves on their accomplishments just because they got easier with time ;D Mount Everest practically has a turnstile and ticket-taker installed, but I don’t think Sir Hillary is moaning that people have forgotten he climbed the thing.

Or run it both ways, as appears to be intended….

I joined a pickup group last night that was after one of the achievements in the last part (kill the final enemy without dying three times). Other than a few warnings beforehand on which enemies to focus, the mission went off without a hitch and without voice chat or much communication at all. I struggled with the fight when I ran it solo (my main is a bit too glassy), but as a group we did quite well, even with light organization.

I’ve seen duplicates when I’ve accumulated a few rares from the same area.

You’re right, in that each weapon is a specific configuration placed in the drop table, so duplicates are quite possible. Making them stackable won’t work, because the items can be modified. Thus, each one must be a separate instance of an object the game tracks, rather than one of an identical stack like the crafting materials, junk drops, etc.

Sariel V.7024

While there is some essence of truth here, it doesn’t explain his death. At no point does he wander off a bridge; he is always on safe terrain according to his own viewpoint. Unless he is autorunning, the server shouldn’t be anticipating that he is going to continue moving when it loses track of him.

What I think happens (and it happens to me a LOT) is that when the game momentarily loses connection, it will maintain your map x,y coordinates when it reestablishes, but not your z value. Instead, it assumes you’re at ground level initially and then attempts to reestablish where your client thinks it was. If you happen to be at any elevation, it assumes you fell. Often fatally. This makes JPs a nightmare unless you are on a cliffside or jumping between solid columns (e.g. places where ground level is in fact elevated).

Even better, other players see you at the position where your client thinks you are, but the server only allows interactions with you where IT thinks you are. So no res for you.

Are you looking for them to sell or open

I’m on a quest to open at least 100 of every bag in the game (so better-use-of-my-time arguments are not an issue). The crazy ~64s price for these bags mean that buy orders are probably never going to get filled (and I did have one out for a week and received nothing) so I will have to farm them.

A worthy enough goal. If you want statistically significant results on drop rates, though, you’ll probably need 10-20 times that number. Unless this is just for your own personal edification.

On the original suggestion, because I haven’t read the whole thread….
I like the idea, but I worry that you might forget to come back to make updates, get wrapped up in something more important, or just not realize that you might be making a time commitment here that you aren’t expecting. Even if you explicitly state that having the spot reserved is not a promise that it will be maintained, that might be forgotten by the community at large a few months down the road.
