so i ask this would king author be consederd king if he bought excalaber from the bazaar?

Sheesh, been playing the latest game “Britannia Wars 2” from MaloryNet and their weapon acquisition method suck. Seriously, you hear all about this great weapon you get and you’re thinking “Wow I can’t wait to see what sort of boss is guarding it! It must be like a dragon, or maybe a horde of Frenchmen or something!” So you get to the part where you are supposed to get this “Excalibur” and do you know what’s guarding it? A kittening rock! Seriously, not even a slightly irritated pigeon to ward off, you just go over and pick it up.

I though there would have to be more to it, but once it became clear to me that there was nothing else involved I got so annoyed that I threw the thing into the lake. Next time I log in guess what? There, in the middle of the lake is a hand holding up the sword THAT I JUST GOT RID OF to give it back to me! I want to feel like I earned the thing, not like no matter what I do I can’t get rid of it!

Lame weapon, shoddy script, terrible clichéd grail quest that feels like it’s going nowhere and Mordred is so badly written it kills me.

Can’t tell if this is serious, or brilliant satire.

+1 either way.

At the very least, Anet, it is time that you made a clear declaration that either we will at some point in the future be able to do something with these rings, or we won’t. This is the least you can do for those of use who have loyally played your ‘top-end’ content for close to two years and assembled one or two bank tabs of rings. Let us know, for once and for all, to keep or not to keep.
p.s. and also prove you actually read and respond to forums would be nice.

[QoL Suggestion] Use material storage first

in Crafting

Sariel V.7024

It does inventory first, bank, and then collection currently. I don’t see any real need to change it.

Would be nice to have the choice how you prioritize the storage slot and I would say a lot of people are annoyed about the current way it works.

But why? That’s what I’m not understanding. I can’t see any reason why you would need to separate out materials.

Material tab is the dump where everything you pick up goes when you are cleaning up your inventory.

Bank tab is where you specifically put stuff, which generally implies you want to keep it separate.

Hardly. Bank tab is where my overflow goes.

Keep it as is.

I specifically put my overflow into my bank tabs MANUALLY because I have to keep my Material Tab EMPTY in order to use the “Deposit Material” tool.

If the system was changed to use the Material Tab first, then they would be eliminating the UNNECESSARY MANUAL step of moving the overflow out of Material Tab.

You’re doing the same thing I’m doing (moving overflow to the bank). If we fixed this so that Material Tab was used first then you and I BOTH would have a LOT LESS manual overflow moving to do.

No, actually. We do the SAME amount if we’re smart (one time, when the store gets filled). What changes is I don’t feel like I have to craft in order to keep remote-depositing (not true), versus you not feel ing that material storage items are reserved for their purpose (also not true).

The more tools a company gives for elitists to flourish, the worse the atmosphere of the game will be for the rest of us. I don’t think any company should encourage people to empower one set of the population to demean another set of the population. Now I’m not saying all elistists do this…but some do and they’re loud and obnoxious.

We already have farmers vs people who want to just play the game in multiple threads shouting at each other, and we’ve already had a number of threads about people arguing about elitists in LFG…this would just make the issues worse.

Why include it if it is unobtainable? Because it was already obtained by some people and it’s not fair to yank it back from them.

I suppose they could hide it if you haven’t unlocked it. That might soothe some ruffled feathers, but I’d rather they put it back in the game. Certainly more so than that ugly kitten Tribal armor everyone keeps begging for.

I wish we still got the PvP chests when getting the achievement point chests. I miss opening those and looking at all the awesome skins. I didn’t even care that I couldn’t use them outside of PvP. /sigh

Here here. I never entered PvP before about two weeks ago, but I had a healthy collection of skins from those chests. They probably won’t do it, since it would mean the wardrobe/collections could be filled more easily.

While the ire is bubbling, over in the quickie-experiment thread, I thought I’d put in a more serious question. Assuming the following is true

1. One player’s observation is that the gear received from drops now heavily corresponds to what the player can equip.
2. Exotic Hunter items are tied to particular classes of champion creatures.

Do we now have to know what a particular champion can drop AND bring the right profession to the fight in order to have a shot as getting the particular exotic? If I pit my ele against old Shelob, have I screwed myself out of obtaining Lord Taere’s Shadow?

I thought the collections got triggered upon acquisition not salvage. At least, the ones I’ve gotten so far seem to be that way. Or maybe in the case of things that can be traded it’s upon binding (account or soul)?

Like Ayrilana implied, the triggering is on bind, or on consumption for consumables or skin acquisition for wardrobe skins. The collectible items include a bunch that are bound-on-acquire, which explains what you’ve seen.

I’ve got a question.

It seems like ever since the inception of the Living Story, materials required for recipes have been climbing exponentially in proportion to their effectiveness – in other words, getting far less bang for your buck. In particular, I’d like to highlight the Station recipes they released during the Battle of Lion’s Arch. With food, the cost is a mere ten of whichever item you want to share; with these stations, the cost is a handful of ascended materials and a lot of Crystalline Dust. The difference here is between a few silver (for most feasts) and several gold for one station. Likewise, the new recipes look like someone is just pulling numbers out of their kitten. Prickly Pear Stuffed Nopale requires ingredients mostly in quantities of 10s, including 20 of the much-rarer Prickly Pears. The overall effect is on par with old recipes that are much easier to produce. Bowl of Garlic Kale Sautee requires 30 kale for one bowl and is effectively the same as Rare Veggie Pizza (which is a headache to make but only takes a couple each of several ingredients). What’s the reasoning on these decisions?

Mystic Forge QOL Improvements

in Crafting

Posted by: Sariel V.7024

Sariel V.7024

What seems obvious to you isn’t necessarily so to the game engine. Say you come to the forge with 4 rares each of sword, greatsword. hammer, and mace. Multiple combinations work, since any one of these work with all the rest. There are 43680 different combinations (counting permutations). The forge doesn’t know that you want to only combine like items, because maybe you don’t. Maybe two swords, a hammer, and a mace are all level 75 and the rest level 39, and you want to try for a max exotic with the high level weapons.

Maybe when you’re tossing exotic greatswords in, in your bid to get Dusk, you also happen to have an exotic sword that you wanted to hold on to. Well, kiss it goodbye, because it also works in combination with those greatswords!

It sucks to do all that clicking, but it’s there for a reason. I doubt the devs foresaw players cleaning out the trading post and tossing in scores of weapons willy nilly, but they did foresee someone maybe making a mistake when they clicked on their stuff.

You know what this is like? This is like if George Lucas decided Star Wars was too long, and entirely removed how they escaped the Death Star…which they then immediately blow up, and only THEN do they arrive at the rebel base to figure out how to blow up the Death Star. Cue ending credits. And also he stole all of your copies of the movie so you can’t even watch the old version anymore.

Close enough to how the resissues rolled out a few years ago. You could work for ILM.

this armorskin is the only thing what PVPers have left from their work before patch made everyhting free for casuals

so no

before they would do this they would have to add ALL Livingstory Rewards from S1 to gemstore, cause PVPers can´t get this too

PvPers have 7 exclusive armor sets (not counting chest pieces), a handful of exclusive weapons (one really cool one and the rest mostly dross), one exclusive back piece, and one skin in particular that everyone wants, no one’s ever gotten, and now no one can ever get (thanks dudes, you can’t even brag about it). It’s hardly as one-sided as you like to make it out.

That said, I do think you guys deserve some exclusivity, but access to the skins that didn’t make it back should still be possible, even if it means beating on someone else to get them.

And also: can we hope for better rewards in our achievement chests above 25 000 points? I mean… 2 gold, a reparation cannister worth nothing, 1 laurel, 9 000 karma, two blueprints and a crafting/ XP booster for about two months of """"work""""… it really isn’t much for so much time invested.

TL;DR: you will never get those hellfire/ radiant breastplate.

Also, don’t get me confused, I enjoy doing these achievements, I wouldn’t do it otherwise, and I love the game, it’s just that;.. yeah… no reward.

I wish they hadn’t taken away the skin chests, particularly now that they’ve pulled nearly all the interesting ones from Personal Story (to be fair, those were replaced with the expensive Vigil/Priory/OoW weapons and cheapest racial chestpieces, but I never had to worry about tracking those down if I didn’t want to deal with the trade post).

well, the farmers keep the champs occupied. When they’re left alone, they kill people taking down the ice wall and the golems.

Nope and this is where you are wrong. Farmers usually go to one side, kill the champs that give boxes and then run over to the other side, by doing that they drag the mobs over to the other side. Which most of the time results in the death of at least 2 golems that just spawned.

You don’t contribute to the event you just leech and get the same reward as the people who do the actual work. It’s a shame that you actually think that this is okay.

Add champion loot bags to all champion mobs. Problem solved.

Ban leechers, Problem solved

Then they should ban those who afk auto attack Jormag with Pact Bazookas during Phase 2 while standing at the safe spot. Those are far worse leechers as they contribute nothing,

If they are contributing damage to the Claw, that’s not nothing. They may be passively playing, but that’s hardly the same as tagging and then standing idle (or /dancing) doing absolutely nothing at all, or finding some hideyhole to autorun in while everyone else sallies on.

Certainly there’s little to complain about about their relationship being more important than Tyria.

Sure, there is. They can talk about their feelings for each other all they want, whenever they want – except for when we’re in the middle of a mission. Hoo boy, if my mesmer had really been the ‘boss’ in that situation, those two would still be waiting for their ears to stop burning. She’d have made Gunnery Sergeant Hartman blush.

You mean people in the middle of missions in real life never talk about anything personal? Hell you’ve never watched a war movie where the guys are in a trench talking about home and their loved ones?

Give me a break.

No, sir. No break. They weren’t in a trench. They were smack dab in the middle of unfamiliar territory facing threats known and unknown. Not the appropriate time for relationship chatter.

Go watch Aliens with your favorite adult beverage. Take a drink for every time Hudson says something that should earn him a reprimand. Have another for every time he gets one. You should be blackout drunk by about 100 minutes in.

The point isn’t whether chatter is appropriate. The point is it happens. And btw, you’re in an adventuring company, not a rigorously trained military squadron.

TL;DR
scarlet’s workshop is needed but should have been introduced/incorporated better

Missed this post before.

I wasn’t meaning ‘it isn’t needed’ but rather ‘it has nothing needed to progress season 2.’

All of if should have been put into the game during Season 1, as I said. It has no real place in season 2 and the fact we blindly stumble upon it by pure luck when we spent a year not finding anything is just poor writing.

While you are correct, I personally felt very annoyed with Trahearne for taking a position that felt like it belonged to the player, and for never really taking part in any battles. That is where the Kormir comparison comes from. It’s not so much the role in the story, but the feeling of a boring npc being the focus, when the player should be the focus.

-snip quote on DE-

I think this pretty much goes back to the point I just made. Npc’s taking center stage, when the player should be the main character. They don’t literally act as Kormir, but the feeling is still the same. It’s the feeling that the writers felt these characters were more interesting than the player.

Oh please, then why no hate on Rurik, Evennia, Master Togo, and Brother Mhenlo? They had the main focus roles, more than the players in GW1, so why no hating them for stealing your spotlight.

I don’t think your argument works. You hate some bit not all who do that.

Rurik is widely despised for being the secret inspiration for Kilroy Stonekins (Leeroy Jenkins is just a convenient cover ;D ); he ends up dead before the halfway point in the game anyway. I got sick of The Mhenlo Show long before the end of Factions. Evennia was hardly a spotlight hog.

Story wise it could be a petty vengeance from Taimi where she creates golems/holograms that look like Phlunt for the game.

This is a fun idea—I can’t promise it’ll be anything other than an idea, but if we ever were to go forward with it, I would push hard for it to be called “Punt Phlunt.”
