Raids at the cost of dungeons I think were a bad idea. Cycling out old content in favor of new content like that is counter to GW2’s core idea of content that is always relevant.
But raids overall are a good idea. Maybe if they used some of what they learned making raids to polish up the dungeons that would be good; tighter fight design, balancing around exotic/ascended, etc.
One thing that I think would be interesting for dungeons is a weekly lockout but I can entirely understand if nobody agrees with me.
Elementalists got Tempest, a healing/support oriented ES.
Guardians got Dragonhunter, a control/damage oriented ES.
Power creep has pushed almost all core builds out of viability. This includes core Elementalists and Guardians of most forms. I have actually seen a few bunkery Guardians around, but I would not say they are meta.
I’d like it if Moa at least didn’t pop minions. They can fix that, and the skill doesn’t need that to be a strong skill.
Why don’t you just start 3-5 days later? ;x
Of all the problems in WvW, the vet creatures is the one you pick on? I don’t get it.
Could some dev pls explain the decision to remove ferocity from temple?
How should removing them improve map flow?
I’m not a dev but I’ll try.
During the first set of spawns, they either spawn during the mid team fight (in which case, going to take them is going to lose you that team fight) or after the team fight (which makes them pointless). They would then keep spawning on that timer as the match progresses, and those times when they spawn with no other Meditations is the ‘best’ time to get them- but even then, they are rarely useful as their impact on the match is minimal. 3 points a kill is nothing.
They’ll also spawn in tandem with Stillness and Tranquility+Stillness, in which case, again they’re just a distraction. You should always be moving either to one of those two Meditations to capture them or to another point to exploit the enemy team’s movements to try to capture them. Ferocity never plays out as being a good choice.
Long story short, they’re noob traps. Unless you are already winning by a reasonable margin, you do not want to try to get them. New players might think ‘oo, shiny, i’mma get the buff’ but it doesn’t actually DO anything. With how builds work in the current game there’s no reason to add even more noob traps.
The new model of Temple is just “meditations are good, get them if you can, or use them to capture enemy points”. Ferocity is not good, and if it’s an opportunity to capture enemy points, it’s just because the enemy is horrendously bad.
But the format’s worked in the past, hasn’kitten
If the 5v5 domination format has worked in the past, then it’s clearly not the problem.
We play together ever since, yeah sometimes we face enemy premades with voip while we do not use such a thing.
But do you know what so cool about that?
– No more blowouts.
– No more rage in losing because I know everyone is capable and they did what they thought was the right thing at the time
– No one talks back at me
– No one AFKs
– They all cleave and stomp and peel and ABOVE ALL ELSE
– They avoid outnumbered fights, instead they/we rotate somewhere else, even if it costs us a capture point. After being stuck at sapphire T1 from soloQ I went up into ruby fighting teams of primo legends all the freaking time. But I kittening did it. Got me second tier in ruby, lost some pips, it got late. Will continue later otnight
No, you’re not allowed to do that! Making friends is against the rules! Go back to being miserable!
On a different side of this question – if I understood correctly, the achievements for part IV, you need to get to Diamond to get the 4 division threshold-crossing achievement necessary for completing the part IV meta. Is this correct? I heard from other people that you don’t ever need to get higher than Amber to finish everything, but it doesn’t seem true to me.
No, you do not need to make those 4 division jumps in one season. You can spread that progress over several seasons.
People saying you don’t need to get past Amber ever are wrong, you still need to get 10 total division jumps.
multiple necro teams are beatable though
and there’s an easy way to nerf them if they need it; knock down the components that give them huge chill or the chill damage
I am fairly certain that the achievements, and therefore the Gift of the Competitor will be closed once the last season for the year has ended. They should be your absolute top priority.
I think that the materials for the Gift of Skirmishing will remain the same, so any progress you have made towards that will be retained. The next set of wings will likely have the same materials required for a similar component.
I think the smaller wing variants will be closed off once the year has ended, same as with the achievements.
Gift of Fortune will remain as it is.
This might seem a bit bleak but there will likely be four seasons this year. That’s more than enough to get you the league progression achievement without needing to push into Diamond. Don’t get too stressed; just keep getting your 3 games a day and make sure you push into the next section of the meta whenever you can.
But who cares? What value is there in an item that denotes “this person has done some PvP?”
You do. Otherwise you wouldn’t be constantly complaining about it on the forums.
I told you the value of items being mode exclusive last season. Go re-read if you have to.
It’s transparent as hell that you’re only arguing from self-interest. Man up and either do your PvP matches or accept that the wings are not for you.
And yet, it continues to be a way to earn “PvE” rewards though PvP activities. Fact, stop quibbling on this one.
Stop misrepresenting facts to try to get what you want.
This is why nobody likes you. You’re always lying.
Then why do people keep whining “Nooooo! You cannot have these wings through PvE, they are for US only!”
Because as usual you’re misrepresenting the argument. They’re not saying you have to be good at PvP to get the wings. They’re saying you have to do PvP to get the wings.
But you do get access to some of them, and again, if you’d prefer more access, ask for it, but don’t use it as an excuse to deny people what they want.
Dude I have no power to grant or deny anything you want. You’re just misrepresenting the facts.
I don’t want to get those rewards through PvP because I think rewards of that caliber are better when they’re mode exclusive.
Reading comprehension problem. Read it again and think about it.
But people have been suggesting they change that philosophy for a long time now, and they have made changes in that direction, such as Precursor crafting, and PvP Reward tracks. You don’t have to run dungeons anymore to get dungeon gear, so why not be able to run PvP content to get The Ascension?
The introduction of dungeon reward tracks was to retain a functionality that PvP originally had. In the original incarnation of PvP rewards, you would obtain these skins in the same way as you would obtain any other skins. They did not want to remove that ability, so they added the reward tracks when they made the transition. This has no bearing on current or future development.
I will, so any hardcore PvPers planning on having the “prestige” of some “PvPers only” item will have to just accept people like me running around with them. I’m well on track. I’m most of the way through the third achievement already with two and a half seasons to get the rest. I’ll get it, I just don’t enjoy it at all, and I don’t see how ANet benefits from me not enjoying myself.
I am not sure how many people have the impression that PvP wings should be ‘prestige’ rewards for high skill level, as legendaries rarely have that quality; they are obtainable purely through time investment, with a relatively minor amount of actual ability. We already have PvP high-end exclusive rewards, including the glass-shouldered Glorious armor sets and the Primordial Legend title.
But it is about opening up new ways to get old things. If people had taken your attitude of “NO! Precursors can ONLY be earned through RNG because that’s the only way to currently earn them, and NEVER through any other means!” then we wouldn’t have precursor crafting.
Firstly, I don’t believe that is his attitude.
Secondly, this doesn’t actually have any bearing on anything. You’re just kinda talking about him and not the issue.
That may apply to some of the reward tracks, but many were added after the change, such as the HoT tracks and the Maguuma Waste tracks, which offer access to unique armor and weapons that can otherwise only be earned via PvE. The precident is there.
This is not a fair comparison.
Firstly, the HoT tracks, other than Magus Falls, do not provide particularly strong access to any sets. You’ll get one weapon from the Auric and Chak families, one piece of armor (gloves only), and then you only get components- VB, AB and TD can only be completed once. You still need to go and complete PvE content to be able to use those components you obtain from the Magus Falls track.
The two Maguuma Waste tracks are also not a fair comparison. The Dry Top track is the closest thing to what you’re suggesting is reality, but it still has the issue above; you still need to do Dry Top content to get to those patterns which allow you to turn your fossilized insects into weapons. The Silverwaste tracks is the same as the VB track; can only be completed once, only gives gloves.
Secondly, the legendary wings can only fairly be presumed to be items which demand high investment in that mode. It is only fair to compare them to similar items from HoT and Maguuma; chiefly, Machined Weapons and Luminescent Armor. It is completely impossible to obtain Machined Weapons and Luminescent Armor without participating in PvE content in those areas.

People cared about Ferocity? There was never even a good time to get them. They were just noob traps.
I like it but as an addition to the old map, not a replacement.
I don’t see why they can’t have Alpine borderlands and Desert borderlands always available in some variety.
If you’re dead and can’t reposition yourself to target the player?
stop being dead
1 Reaper can spawn at most 6 of those Shambling Horrors, and only if they hit 5 targets.
In theory, they could get up to 12, with good alacrity and perfect hits.
All of the minions do create issues when you are downed and cannot target a reaper with 1% health because 5 minions are standing between you. Granted you would still lose due to the lifesteal of the downed necro, but body blocking in downed state gives an unfair advantage. No more than stealth does, but at least stealth has a short duration.
Body blocking is something you will have to work around.
1. don’t pick foefire if your team being forced to defend lord makes you lose
2. if you played better on points, the game would never have gotten to the point where you lose at lord
People will convince themselves by any means necessary that it’s the system screwing them over. That it can’t possibly be their lack of skill. The same thing happens irl. There’s a term for it but it’s escaping me…
It’s a form of projection.
1. Make sure all three guild members participated in the Capture event.
2. Camps no longer upgrade based on a timer. Instead, they will upgrade based on how many yaks they deliver to other objectives. You need to deliver 20 yaks to satisfy the mission’s objective.
They also pretty much told us that we won’t be seeing separate balance between WvW, PvP, and PvE because it’s just “too hard right now.”
It’s not hard at all. It just takes too long.
Do you really want balance changes and new content to take even longer to come out?
Why do so many people seem excited at the prospect of GW2/HoT failing?
It gives them a feeling of vindication. Maybe a little schadenfreude.
This thread seems silly.
Idk why people overcomplicate it. Yeah if you’re hitting overcap for condition duration you’re wasting your condition duration. If you promote one stat over the other you are losing DPS. Fight mechanics may either favor or disfavor condi damage/duration.
kitten ..wish i was handpicked by an ANet dev like u guys for wins.
You don’t get handpicked. You get gud
Are the elite specializations the only viable builds?
Kind of. There is a limited set of base class builds which are viable but they are almost always improved by elite specs.
Just wait until more casuals push through the assured low tiers and then once they reach sapphire/ruby you’ll be matched against them again and you’ll be able to farm them again.
I don’t have the metrics to say for sure but I’m willing to bet that a lot of people play <5 ranked games a day, just to complete their daily achievements. These people are still in Emerald and Sapphire. Once they push up into Ruby then Ruby will get much easier.
The real league right now starts at ruby and everything till then is just garbage prelims.
Is that even that bad?
Nerf chill it shouldn’t do as much as it should compared to everything else in the game
But Chill is only a problem when Reapers are using it.
Nobody complains about Elementalist chill.
Nobody complains about Revenant chill.
Nobody complains about base Necromancer chill.
Let’s put our thinking caps on for a minute: Is the problem reapers, or is it chill?
I’ve only just had my first two ‘unwinnable’ games at T3 Sapphire. It’s otherwise been a complete steamroll. How far did you get from 40 wins?
Soul Eater is just a horrible trait.
Ehhh, I think it does what it does well. It’s only ‘horrible’ because it’s on a tier with another trait that does far better in most traditional situations.

These effects would, I think, completely ignore breakbars either one way or the other.
While the target’s breakbar is up, they are not ‘feared’ in the sense of ‘they are running away’; but once the bar is broken, they’re also not ‘feared’, they’re stunned.
This data won’t make much sense w/o initial level and number of games played before the season.
This system apparently destroys games for new players.
I think a good point of comparison would be to include season 1 performance in the survey.
1. Day 1
2. Sapphire T3
3. No
4. Advancing
5. No
6. Yes
I did it, boys ‘n’ girls! I made it to Ruby Division with nothing but a thief, and a pocket full of stolen dreams. Take that MMR and your Foolish meta!
grats
I don’t mind mastery points. I only have a hundred of them, maybe it’ll get more painful as I progress further, but they’re good.
um no defensive utility? necro has a shout “rise up that makes my sd teef autos his 600” :/
Rise gets mulched by any kind of AoE tho
As per standard business, I can’t say anything about release dates or future content
:(
Chill is not the problem
If there is a problem, it is Reapers
They said that they increased BL key drops. There was not even one drop in 4,5 months. NOT EVEN ONE.
Changing the drop rate of bltc keys from 0.0001% to 0.0002% is still an increase!
No it isn’t. It really isn’t.
Dragonite Ore, Bloodstone Dust and Emp Shards are all trivially easy to get in Silverwastes chest farms.
Gold is not hard to get; farming runs in t2-t4 zones produce massive amounts of cash.
This is even assuming you’re crafting it. If you get lucky and get an ascended box, you get free gear and didn’t pay a thing. Maybe pay a couple gold to get it swapped to stats that you like.
For me, ascended materials seem inflated in price.
They are inflated due to one-time costs associated with guild upgrading, not long-term costs associated with getting multiple sets of ascended gear.
What’s your point?
He just wanted to deliver his salt to the broadest audience possible
Try not queuing as 3 necros? lol
Necros are weak on rotations. If your pugs aren’t strong on rotations you will lose. The thief on the other team probably won the game on his own
Of course knowing anet will never change the current mmr setup or balance for the rest of this season. What do you guys think the state of PVP will be after this season?
IMO it’s pretty clear that they’re trying some kind of goldilocks balancing strategy. Last season’s porridge was too cold, this season’s porridge is too hot, next season’s porridge will hopefully be just right.
One thing I don’t understand is, why the heck the best players need any assistance in the face of constant win streaks to climb faster the divisions. They are good players, right? Aren’t they supposed to earn it, instead of being carried by the system?
It’s to get them out of the low leagues as fast as possible so people who are in those low leagues because of their skill level aren’t matched so frequently against high-skill players that are grinding their way back up.
Play a game, grab the one guy who’s halfway decent, queue up together.
If you win, no problem.
If you lose, grab the one guy who’s halfway decent, queue up together.
Repeat.
I am not sure but I think you can get in trouble by posting something like this without the names censored out
ooo you wanna improve my proposal?
Nah if you have an increase for every game you’ll have people paying off the other team to get their wins to hit instalegend.
I wouldn’t mind a second tier of winstreak bonus. Stomp pubs, power through never hurt anyone.
In addition to
3 wins+ = 2 pips per game
5+ wins = 3 pips per game
why not?
Ohoni never wins so it wouldn’t do anything for him :^)
While it might be nice there’s really no point to it. Just consider the first two weeks of this league the placement season and you’re in basically the same position.
