Are the new weapon skins seriously 2 tickets?

I’ve gotten lucky with the free keys and have had 3 tickets in my storage for like over a year, but every skin they release looks like garb most of the time. The new skins look real cool with all them tentacles so maybe I’ll pick one up to use or to sell in a couple months who knows.

So I lost three games in a row...

Sometimes. But as a scepter/focus ele I have two kds available from gale and cometto interupt rezzing and enemy finishes. But then again I also have obsidian flesh for rezzing, but if there’s multiple people around me it’s sorta not worth it because I can’t rez fast enough. Rezzing is essential in pvp to outperform the enemy team. I like it, my teams just always seem terrible at it.

They should have just mix damage and utility and defense throughout all the elements, and just keep specific conditions to certain elements and some flavor specific spells instead of splitting up the roles in each element. They should have also made the traits universal instead of just applying to one element, because it is counter intuitive to have 4 elements you’re supposed to constantly switch between. The core traits how they currently are are more geared towards tempest and camping one element, which is probably a big cause as to why tempest totally outranks core ele.

I’m gonna guess they’ll just bump the numbers up for the new spec so 2 elements are on par with 4, but you’ll be able to have a more focused build that isn’t held back by having to balance damage with all the utility the 4 attunements provide and vice versa

Honestly would bump thief to at least medium, sure they can shadowshot anywhere and can dodge more frequently and stealth but for any content that isn’t easy mode for every other class you can get one-shotted fairly easily. It required less work to do damage than other classes, but required more work staying alive.

Would also bump ele up. They have staff which is easy mode in team play, but if using anything else you end up getting closer and you have the problem thief has and seem to always be dying, or close to it. plus note all the combos and knowing where all the blast finishers are on a build and being able to dance through attunements to know which order will let you get the most blasts off before the field ends.

Other than my opinions on these two classes i think you did a good job. Would maybe put ranger and necro in easy section, theyre fairly survivable classes. I’ve never used them for anything high end though so take that with a grain of salt.

I prefer finding old, ancient magic and different secret powerful things to solve problems as opposed to making a machine or whatever science stuff is used to fix everything. There’s no mysterious to just making a device to fix everything. It’s too real and not fun or mystical. It’s like GW1 was the belief in the wizard of oz and then GW2 is opening up the curtain and really it’s just some dude with a computer and there was no magic to it all along. It makes the magic in game seem obsolete and not as grand as it once was.

It would be much cooler and rad if we had to get ancient magical items and rituals and stuff to defeat the dragons as opposed to building a giant laser to just roast them. magic empowers the individual while technology makes the individual insignificant.

It would be acceptable if in the end magic still trumped technology on the grand scale and tech just helped us when our magical abilities weren’t enough, but in this universe tech is able to trump every type of magic and it’s 100% lame.

The most annoying thing is every time they balance or add anything to pvp, it’s always too small and too infrequent to make it any better. The one game mode offered would be nice if it wasn’t the main option, but it just turns into a sustain fest. There’s basically one viable weapon combo per class and I thought they said having less skills would result in better balance and more viable builds per class.

It’s hard to pin point one problem, I believe pvp needs like a 90% overhaul of everything, but it was too risky so they just played it safe too often and didn’t listen to the community. Also, I don’t think the combat style supports a very competitive pvp. This whole defined/undefined team role of classes/builds I think screws with everything a lot. Like, having a healing build that can also add a decent amount of dps. Having high sustain builds with spike damage.

Sorry if this was a bunch of incoherent rambling.

I understand that most people wanted dps and condi builds to be buffed, but everyone was also complaining that ventari was useless and the only viable build was power shiro/glint and that more legends needed to become viable. They delivered on trying to make another legend/build viable for rev so they aren’t stuck as an aa power bot for every aspect of the game. Not the most flashy or impressive changes, but it’s better than nothing and I’m sure the changes are more impactful in game than they are on paper.

Rev hasn’t been good at 1v1s for a long time

You clearly haven’t seen the ESL 1v1 tournaments. There was 1 player that successfully beat every other class put against it with a rev, including very good mesmers, DH and warriors. This was about 2 weeks and 1 week ago, so after the nerfs as well. And others playing rev haven’t been doing badly either. Tbh, the bad rep rev has been getting lately isn’t entirely deserved.

>1 player
>Lul Rev is fine

>1 player
>Lul Rev is bad

Works both ways. Frankly, it’s nice there are some classes in this game with a high threshold for performance. Rev isn’t a bad class, you just need to be much better with it than many other classes. I don’t doubt that’s desirable though perhaps not intended by Anet. Variety isn’t something that should be avoided.

What?

You just don’t get it, there is no point in playing a harder class but to feel a special snowflake, cause me original anti-meta special boy!. You could be playing any other easier class and still even outperform Rev.

No, you don’t get it … some people actually like to be challenged in the game, so yes, there are people just like you describe here where Rev would appeal to them. Just because you aren’t one of those people doesn’t mean variety in difficulty shouldn’t exist.

Dude, I generally like to use the more complicated classes or playstyles in games and find it rewarding. The difference here is that it’s complicated to play because it isn’t that good and there isn’t much room for error. It’s not like with ele or engi where there is a technical aspect that makes it difficult, but once mastered it pays off and can compete with the best.

You have to look at it for the reasons it’s challenging to play. Is it the playstyle or the balance of the class? I think the majority of it’s challenge is due to the balance. I also think the design of the class is weak, so if the things that work with rev are unbalanced, the class has no other aspects of it to lean on.

unfortunately it is locked out and they are unable to be used with revenant since it’s utility bar is locked to stances. It’s sorta dumb.

How would you redesign the revenant?

in Revenant

Posted by: ScottBroChill.3254

ScottBroChill.3254

I think it has to be redesigned from the ground up. I have this belief that it was designed with it’s elite spec already in mind and because of that, glint is sorta mandatory in order to be effective. Dragon stance gives so much, while the others offer very little. Without it, every build seems very incomplete. Each of the other stances feel very incomplete and need glint. the stances decide how the class plays and the weapons offer very little. It’s a niche class that overs a mobile boon share and not much else besides a powerful AA with sword main hand.

We need more viable weapons. Sword main hand and staff are a must. Not because they are so good, but because every other weapon totally blows. Hammer would be cool if it was more of a threat, offered more utility, or just synergized with any of the stances, but it doesn’t. Every stance is more suited for close range.

Give us a ranged condition weapon. not with a new elite spec, but should just be added to the class. Our one condition build isn’t so hot, I like the mace and I like the axe but it just underperforms. I like the demon stance, but with one weapon set and one stance, it feels like half a build. Sure you can ult and add loads of torment, or spam banish enchantments, but there isn’t much else to work with.

Ventari. I don’t use this. Why would I. It’s a cool idea but it doesn’t work with highly mobile combat. And on top of that if you’re sitting in ventari, can’t switch out, you’re basically dead. It’s very clunky. I don’t even know what one would do to fix this, but I think some people mentions making the tablet float around the rev which would probably be way better than how it is now.

The class is just very incomplete. I love it, it’s gimmicks are fun, but there lacks depth. I feel like I just sit around spamming auto attacks and staff 5 to knock people away. That’s not a literally representation of how I play, but I guess I’m just saying rev lacks build diversity and a fun factor.

How about: Bosses stomping players.

I personally think having the downed mechanic is what does it. No matter how fast you go down, low or high defense, you can basically be resurrected instantaneously. If players actually were killed when they lost all their health points and needed a resurrection skill to be brought back up, going down in the first place would be a lot more detrimental to the team’s success. In this case the risk factor of having so many glass cannons would be too high and would warrant more investment in defense as a means to stay alive.

Now I’m sure this wouldn’t solve every problem but it would inhibit players ability to rebound once killed. As it is now when someone gets downed they basically get brought back up in a matter of seconds so it barely matters that they were knocked down in the first place.

Gw2: Filled with half-finished projects

ScottBroChill.3254

Completely agree with the OP. They don’t stick with a project and just seem to be bouncing around like a kid with ADD who can’t decide what he actually wants to do. They want to do everything without having the labor resources available to get everything done, which ends up making the companies efficiency in terms of development lower. If they just had everyone focus on the core of the game, profession balance, and end-game rewards, they would make a much more stable game that may not have as much cool new stuff but at least is a smooth enjoyable experience with goals to work towards. But instead we get to play kitten events that are constantly changing and lack any desirable reward.

I still play the game and I enjoy it, but it’s like being a cav’s fan and watching lebron and the team totally choke in the finals.

Also, the crafting for legendaries and stuff like that is confusing. With all the gifts that are required and items. Its just hard to keep track of and for gamers who are like me and aren’t the top elite, it can be a little overwhelming to know where to start when trying to craft them. Not saying to make legendaries easier to obtain, but try to make it more streamlined or whatever word it is I’m looking for.

IMO professions and combat are shallow

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ScottBroChill.3254

ScottBroChill.3254

The only way the combat really progresses is when u start the game and your skill bars are still not full and you need to unlock skills. after that, you play with the same stuff the whole game, and usually play the same exact way in most situations. You only really switch up strategy and build for fun, not really for improved tactics. Professions vary enough to satisfy me, but they all play the same for the most part since each skill bar is somewhat similar for the most part with variations between ranged/melee and aoe/single target. Traits aren’t that deep. You don’t have many logical options to take, there are usually traits which are obviously suited to the weapon your using, making everyone using the same weapon basically the same.

Another thing that annoys me is conditions being the new form of conditions and hexes. Hexes added flavors to certain profession in gw1, in gw2 the conditions make these effects really bland with a bunch of universal condition removals.

I wish there were higher levels of specialization, more customimizable skill bars and traits, more combos and skillful play. less dodging. getting two invulnerable saves every so often isn’t deep, and when it’s one of the few defenses against getting one shotted by a boss, it’s just sorta stupid.

My opinion on the whole clusterfudge of the combat and professions of the game. Still a good game and fun. A lot of good things in it, just also an equal amount of bad things.

I definitely feel like an kitten hole when I use stealth, but never guilty or like it’s unfair. It’s just an annoying mechanic because it requires you to flail around randomly with no direction until the thief re-appears. The problem I feel is stealth is such an all or nothing mechanic. You either have your stealth with all your potential burst ready to go and whatever defensive stealth traits you have, or your not stealthed and lose all of that and lose the chance for the first strike. I don’t think stealth is cheap, it’s just all or nothing. If stealthed, OP. if not stealthed, UP.

Sclerite Weapons Tickets - Next to Impossible

Been doing southsun since yesterday and got two southsun crates. the second one had a scarlet weapon claim ticket. I hope this makes you all mad because your complaining about random chances being too random because you want to be guarenteed to get it, but it isn’t the point. It’s a rare weapon that you don’t really have control over whether you get it or not. Farming more or playing more or buying more from the gemstore won’t guarentee you getting it. That’s the beauty of random chance.

I personally enjoy getting random weapons like this. It feels special. I know that not any little jabroni can go and get it from grinding and only a certain amount of people will have it. And for me, this system works better for me. SAB had the same thing, but they also had the ability to farm currency for it. Well I didn’t have the time to get all the babbles or whatever they’re called so I couldn’t get one of those sweet hologram weapons. I didn’t get lucky that event, but i did this event and that’s the luck of the draw i guess.

But I don’t condone this for legendaries because the grind is so absurd it’s an impressive feat. Legendaries need to keep their reputation of being hard to obtain through a lot of time and work.

Its not a bad idea to go back and read your post before posting it.

Any little jabroni can get it you just said you did after doing no work.

I have been farming on various 80s since the release several hours a day and I have not seen the 1st crate drop for me. The last 2 days I have used %423 magic find yet still no crate.
Any content added to a game should be accessible for any player willing to play for it if its getting a raid together or simply putting hours of play time in or buying it from the cash store. This content is being restricted from me because I have bad luck.

edit* TBH at this point I am just quitting putting so much effort in getting a crate just to open and hope rng feels sorry for me is idiotic.

Yo, derpy. I read the post and meant what I said. I meant nobody can go and obtain it. There is no amount of work or smart play that will give you the item. Compared to legendaries in which you know the exact steps you have to take in order to get it and know how long it will take you to get it, this item there isn’t a guarantee let alone the possibility for some people. Sure finding crates and grinding helps, but it more just happens if it happens.

Now I’m no hardcore gamer. Lengendaries are far out of my reach and most temporary living content items are out of my reach. But, RNG items are still a possibility for me and are still special because no matter how hard some people try for it, a limited number of people will get it. And this is proven by your claim about farming forever for something, sorta like the heroin dragon. It’s not something meant to be farmed for.

I feel some people are just too hardcore and competitive to see why this is something some people like. They don’t like it when people who don’t play as much and good get something cool and they don’t.

ScottBroChill.3254

I think the complaints lie in the fact that stealth isn’t what it is for everyone else. It’s our way to mitigate damage, it’s our way to do damage on par with others, its basically a part of us. There are some builds without stealth, but the majority of them utilize it to a fair extent. I almost consider it part of our class mechanic, as it even allows us a new stealth skill.

So, the trap takes away defense and attack. What’s left? nothing, and that’s the problem. Again this doesn’t apply to every build, but it is an integration to the class. We have a whole trait line dedicated to stealth buffs. What if the trap took away 50% of all other classes armor and damage? because that’s what it’s effectively doing for the thief for the most part.

Stealth Negates 0 Damage. You can still be hit by it, and anyone good will interrupt or cc you before you stealth and hit you. Stealth is used to evade and confuse people. You can do it other ways though, like SB and Shadow Step. You aren’t always reliant on stealth to do those things.

Some builds do less damage without stealth, but what build actually loses a large amount of dps. Backstab loses one burst, but still has high crit heartseekers and can simply kite for 30 seconds if you really have to. D/P Perma Stealth loses the most of anything, but they don’t lose their heartseeker damage.

Well stealth isn’t an active defense as armor is, but it serves the same purpose. The enemy loses targeting and tricking people is a form of defense. The regen and condition removal traits also make it defensive.

Although stealth doesn’t improve overall dps much, the stealth skill has good burst, you can trait for 100% crit, you can trait for extra damage from backstabs. So it really does increase burst potential by a lot, which is how thieves play. They aren’t meant for prolonged fights and aren’t meant to be hit. Stealth is perfect for both of those.

Horrible Targeting

ScottBroChill.3254

I mean if they’re is ever a 2v1, you can never focus on a target resulting in an automatic loss. Then ur just left to rely on self cast skills, because they’re the only ones that work on the intended target. Honestly think this may be why bunker builds are the fotm combined with the fact that they’re a tad overpowered. They’re also way easier to combo skills the way you want.

A totally different game, League of Legends, that shows a great example of why accidentally targeting something sucks. Iets say you’re vieger and ur about to nuke the enemies ap mid. Your last skill to finish them is the one that scales with enemy ap and you accidentally target a jungling lee sin. Well they get away and the lee sin murder you. The only difference between Lol and GW2 in this aspect is that in LoL you can make your important skills matter because you can click a target and lock on.

It’s a moba I know, but the same principles apply.

It’s really obnoxious and I don’t know why they think it’s ok or even thought it was. It’s extremely hard to click on the right target, your trying to simultaneously rotate the camera to keep focus, you have to make sure your hand placement is right for hot keys, and you have to decipher what the hell is going on on the screen. Like I am hardly ever able to play reactive in this game because 1) It’s a pain to target with multiple enemies, especially pets, minions, clones, etc. 2) I can’t tell what skills the enemy is using until it’s too late 3) I have to think about so much else that by the time I’m able to time a skill perfectly, I lose the target and waste a skill.

Targeting really needs to be looked at. Such an important aspect as using the right skills on the right target shouldn’t be left in such a kittenty state. Single target ranged weapons are almost useless, and it’s one of the reasons I enjoy melee and staff aoe’s more than things that need targeting because it’s ridiculous.

Anyone else getting rather annoyed by the targeting in this game? I find it extremely annoying when facing rangers with pets, mm necros, and any sorta of mesmer. It’s as if the game wants me to lose because it’s always switching targets to the pets instead of the person I want. I’m hardly ever fooled by illusions, but that doesn’t keep the game from wanting to target them and make me waste important and timed skills.

If anyone has some tips to help me out it would be great, but atm I don’t think there’s anything to make it better. Ride the lighting is always hitting the wrong target taking me in a whole new direction, and having an asura thief in pvp may be nice since the small size, but the camera is focused lower to the ground than on other races making targeting and seeing the target a pain.

Anet needs to put in an aiming cursor or point and click lock on because with the game being so visually hectic it’s rather important to be able to use ur skills on the intended target instead of where the game thinks the attack should be directed.

People bringing up things like “you don’t have to buy it if you don’t want”, that’s just ignorant. Psychology plays a large effect in gaming and business models. The problem stems from those who don’t have a lot of money see GW2 and buy it because it’s a one time purchase. These people also want a cheap way to boost they’re self esteem in a way by making their in game character impressive compared to their real life persona. So now that this demographic has been wrapped into the game they make it so a lot of the more impressive skins are in the cash shop in RNG chests, so it’s similar to how poor people tend to be addicted to lottery tickets. It’s not that this is a wrong thing to do or if it was even planned this way, but there are most likely correlations and it’s a dirty move by Anet if I do say so myself.

basically without sufficient recharge rate of attunements your gunna get screwed. It feels like the elementalist was balanced around having 15-30 points in arcane because without having your tools at hand your gunna get man handled by every other class. They don’t have a lot of high damage skills and don’t have a lot of individually strong skills, it’s only when combining all of the attunements you get max performance, so when you take 3 other trait lines and none are arcane your gunna get screwed because you won’t have the necessary skills available when necessary making whatever traits you picked most likely not as good as they seem.

I personally feel like the attunment recharge should be a fixed time and arcane shouldn’t increase recharge rate and instead do something else idk. But without a higher than base recharge rate you’re not going to be as competitive as other builds unless you’re running a conjure build, and those are weaker in all regards but are fun.

They’re probs working on the expansion or atleast working upon what they want in it, but it probably has no plan for release at the moment. I’m guessing they’re getting a head start in case they need to release it before planned.

Former rank 1 GvG GW1 talks GW2 competitive

They definitely need more game modes that focus on strategies besides mobility and bunker builds. since those are the only two builds that are in the top tier of effectiveness, it really limits versatility and dynamic team builds.

Team death matches may be a bit hectic, but they can really utilize most types of builds besides mobility. They support more offensive and utility builds and create a totally different pvp environment which I believe is more addictive and/or immersing than the conquest game mode. I really loved AB in GW1, but in GW2 the map and team sizes are just too small for it and the most reliable strategy is zerging and whoever isn’t in the mob better hope they have a good bunker build.

I personally feel they shouldn’t be thinking about having an esport, and should be focusing on trying to make the pvp game more addictive and rewarding in play.

I think the downed state should be removed or something, or at least not rez if something near you dies. With how it currently is, you can have half of the other team in the downed state but if one of your team mates dies than the whole other team gets resurrected. This makes team fights way more one sided and/or never ending and it’s just an annoyance.

Traits on everything need a total rehaul for the most part. Ranger, warrior and guardian traits to me feel like the only ones you can actually choose from without having a certain trait line that trumps all the others.

Since there aren’t really many good heals outside the healing skill slot you sometimes feel forced to spec in defensice traits and traitlines. Really though, if you go anything other than defensive and take every trait that boosts your survival then you can never heal enough or do enough damage. you tear like a wet paper towel. Having a healer in the game makes it so you can go glass cannon and not completely get destroyed by auto attacks. Healers/protectors let you survive long enough to dish out enough damage to make yourself useful. But if you are unable to survive long enough you’re pidgeonhold-ed into being really defensive or mobile/untouchable. This is why the thief is such a pubstomper. It’s the only class that can build for damage and avoid it at the same time. When it comes to other classes it’s just about who can be the most defensive while also dealing enough damage to be a threat.

What I believe is without a healer, or a way to skillfully come back from the losing end of a battle, there won’t and can’t be competitive pvp. In the current set-up you will just keep losing health in a battle of attrition and you only get periodically dodges as a surefire way to avoid damage if your lucky/skillled enough to use it at the right time.

With what I just said and condtion removal being limited, this is why I believe necros will start to become flavor of the month somtime soon. With being condition heavy, one of the few classes with incredible condition defense, and massive health pool and other defenses I believe they are an unmatched class on a pvp standpoint. Maybe not with current numbers/bugs, but they definitely are the ones with the best tools for this games pvp.

These are just my thoughts on the game. Hopefully they can work a good competitive pvp without needing the trinity.

Looking for a bow class...

Thief bow is more of a gimmick. I’m not sure of the warriors bow, but ranger can use both bows and they’re both pretty fun to use. they can also throw axes for whenever your feeling like a bad kitten

Difference between GW1 and GW2

I say any argument about gw1 that includes things from Eye of the North should be dismissed. That is when they were testing ideas they wanted to include in gw2 and for the most part ruined a lot of the fun of the game. It was a scrapped mess that they released so people wouldn’t be upset about losing out on the Utopia expansion and in the end added more problems and ruined every other part of the game besides Eye of the North.

They don’t have enough universally enjoyable skins with particle effects that’s forsure. And a lot of the skins I question the point of their existence because, I agree, they are verrrrry dull. Really they should have like a couple basic staves with the dull looks just for ease of obtaining, but then really they should only release skins with an attractive appeal and things you can theme your look after. It’s not like they can’t do it, infact some of the skins are so lazy as if they tried to make them be undesirable. That scythe staff skin is pretty rad, but really only good for a necro flavor.

Bring back celestial and platinum skins!!!! or a wayward staff!

I mean in a way it’s sorta slander and can hurt the company trying to recruit new players, but everyone has a right to say what they think. If it’s one or just a few people doing it it’s no big deal and won’t make such an impact. If a lot of people are in an uproar it could have effects though, but in this case if there are a lot of people so unhappy with the game that sorta means there’s a bigger problem at hand. Now I’m done responding here, don’t want to continue the offtopic discussion. If you want to discuss more feel free to message me.

Hey, people complain about stuff to discuss concerns and hope for change. If someone is coming on a forum to complain about a game it’s obviously because they believe the game could be improved. I’m glad everyone likes to tell people with opposing viewpoints to get off the forums, it’s like that have nothing to prove their point so they try to avoid discussing it.

But yeah, right now this game could totally be better. I think we’re underestimating how much improvement this game can make. But at the moment, it’s a little dull.

yeah it’s dissapointing :/ I found cry of frustration my favorite way of dealing with it, marks everyone with some confusion which can deal some decent damage when they go and attack other clones. But it does almost make the illusions pointless in pve

Clones are shatter fodder and distractions. If you want them to be used for damage use phantasms. They’re used to be spammed, not like minions who are more durable..

Just made my new mesmer and think I finally got a look I’m pleased with. Tried to make him look as galactic/alien as possible. I’m digging it.
