scarlet was a cringe-inducing self-insert fanfiction character that was somehow accidentally written into a major market game
Bullseye.
My main (though mostly defunct) guild is The Jesters. We would all need that hat. Do want!
Totally! I’m surprised this isn’t an annual piece of apparel like the various Windersday and Halloween items.
I’m not even asking for a full Jester’s costume (although that would be nice). Just the floppy hat with the bells would be more than enough!
ugghhhh I tried to say joker / jester hat in the gem store.
Anet should put up a jester’s cap like the one in gw1. I would buy it in a second.
Link to gw1 jester’s cap: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Jester's_Cap
Here’s some examples of armor styles I’d love to see one day. I hope that the more Anet improves the core game, the more willing they will be in the future to devote more time into making fun, unique, and stylish armor sets. It was discouraging to say the least when they said that armor sets took too much time (6 times the effort as an outfit? Is that true??) and thus was the main reason why we received such a paltry amount in the HoT expansion. I understand that there are more pressing matters to attend to, but it would be nice if we could get substantially more armor sets in the future.
Anything that makes dual pistols effective and stylish the way they should be.

Hopefully they do something with it for LW Season 3? The story could really use a lot more follow-up with what has happened to the Grove and their inhabitants.
Ugh… if that’s the case, I hope it’s a short follow-up just to be done with it. I like the sylvari and all, but admittedly I’m pretty tired of them being the focal point of the whole story and would like to move on already.
Then…the norn’d probably just get drunk once a year.
The norn get drunk any day they want.
Isn’t there a new MMO that is releasing that has playable centaurs? Like Camalot unleashed or whatever it’s called.
Might be Crowfall? At least, if I read it right.
That’s the one! But the graphics are very 2006ish…
Holy cow! It looks like you can play as a minotaur as well! They’re my favorite fantasy race ever! Gonna have to keep an eye on this one, thanks for the info!
Uh… ok?
/15 stacks of confusion
Yea, it was confirmed they started development for it recently. A potential 2016 release was mentioned
Admittedly, I haven’t been closely following news around the next expansion, but I haven’t heard anything about a potential 2016 release. Where was this mentioned, and more importantly, is it even plausible?
With how rocky HoT’s release was, I find a 2016 release window highly unlikely, especially since we haven’t even gotten squat about the next living story update. Nevertheless, I’m still curious to know where this rumor even began.
You just had an unlucky bad experience. Many people could actually argue it’s the other way around, what with the meta game making pvp pretty unbalanced.
Either way, don’t make a sweeping generalization based on a single experience.
Mullet! Bring back the awesome 80’s.
Did somebody say mullet??
Sad thing is, I think Anet and GW2 are the most qualified to take up that challenge. It’s rare to see an MMO that has distinctive races to the point most are at least half unique. But most MMOs make slightly-altered-humans as their spectrum of races.
A couple of weeks ago I would’ve agreed with you, Leo… but since they gave us the “it’s too hard/too much effort” excuse for why we received such a sad amount of new armor sets with the HoT expansion, I’m not so sure anymore. However, I’d certainly like to be proven wrong about that someday…
I want to play as a Centaur. I am sad so few seem to want that
I would love for the centaur to become a playable race, so you’re not alone on that.
I understand the challenges in making a fully customizable centaur race to play, as there are lots of factors to consider. However, I’m waiting for a company to stop being so intimidated by the thought, take that challenge, and break the mold with something truly unique and impressive by introducing playable centaurs.
I’m not expecting centaur to become playable, mind you. They’re just on my impossible wishlist, lol. Logically, IF we ever get a new race, it really has to be the tengu, which I would still be excited for. There’s a ton of lore behind them, and there’s some solid story-telling and customization options they can provide with the inclusion of the tengu.
Nope….we all want Largos to be the next playable race, none of us want to play an ugly overgrown chicken.
Largos? You mean those out-of-place, butterfly winged, drow wannabes? Not in a million expansions would I ever care for that lame race.
Been a while, but I thought I’d offer suggestions on hairstyles that are more “messy” than the majority of what we currently have to choose from. Straight and curly hair included.
Side note: the face and beard in the first attachment (Simon Belmont, fyi) look really awesome. Rugged and tough, which we definitely need more of in this game.
This comes off as kind of creepy to me…. Just saying. I get the intent but the delivery is a bit borderline creepy. ^^;
Pretty much what I was thinking… >_>
I love your enthusiasm, as I’m just as crazy about character customization! You should check out this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Human-Male-Hairstyles/first
Judging by the latest batch of hairstyles for the humans, it looks as though the art team may have taken some ideas from there. If you’ve got any suggestions for human hairstyles, male or female, feel free to post them there and keep the thread going.
That’s awesome!
Now if only I could actually obtain it…
Really awesome idea to introduce dungeon glider skins should dungeons ever get any attention again.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Idea-Dungeon-Glider-Skin-Rewards/first
It won’t be reverted. It was even mentioned by Robert in the elite spec preview. The quote is something similar to how it would look stupid/make no sense to see a character moving with a GS plunged into the earth, which I completely agree with.
I think it looks just fine for the guardian and the mesmer.
On the contrary, I think it looks stupid/makes no sense that the graphics for Nightfall spins in the opposite direction that the character spins the sword, but that’s just my opinion. I preferred the old animation, and the minuscule root was never an issue for me.
Oh well, in the end I’m just one player. It’s not going to kill my overall experience by any means, but aesthetically it does kinda suck. Chalk that in right next to elementalists shooting golf ball sized fireballs and barely visible, egg-shaped auras.
As I mentioned earlier, if the replacement animation at least looked as strong as the old one, I’d be more welcoming of it… but it just looks too… soft.
The attached images are fan concepts of an asuran glider (not mine, I just found them). I think something like this would make an awesome Crucible of Eternity glider that you purchase with knowledge crystals.
There’s so much room for creativity with this dungeon glider skin idea, I just wish it wasn’t more or less a hopeless cause.
I kinda figured it was because of the root… but was it really all that detrimental? The guardian’s greatsword skill, Symbol of Wrath (skill #4), functions similarly, and there hasn’t been any complaints about it as far as I know and it feels just fine to use.
I apologize if I’m nitpicking… I just enjoy the aesthetics as much as the mechanics, and the way it looks now is just weird. At least if they spun in the same direction as the swirling vortex it’d look a little less awkward.
True, it probably won’t be reverted, but I wish they would’ve made the effort to make the replacement animation look just as impactful as the old one.
Hey all. Before I start, I only have a charr reaper, so I’m basing my opinions on that. Now then…
I’m not sure when this was changed—I only recently geared up my necro and started playing him again—but I noticed that the reaper’s Nightfall animation (greatsword skill #4) has been changed. I remember it having the player strike their sword into the ground to create that swirling darkness. There was such power behind it and it felt really satisfying to use that skill. Here’s a link to the skill animation I’m referring to.
https://youtu.be/5NJENoYL8Yo?t=10m9s
Currently, however, the skill animation seems to have been replaced with a rather underwhelming, slow spin. What’s more awkward is that the vortex swirls in the opposite direction that you spin (What???).
Overall, the animation as it is now is very weak-looking, nothing compared to the ground-slamming original. When did they change this, and why? Was it mobility issues? But then the guardian and mesmer doesn’t seem to have any problems with their greatsword skills that use the ground stabbing animation.
Is there a possibility that the animation could get reverted? It’s probably a long-shot, I know, but the old animation just felt so much better and I already miss it!
^ Agreed. This latest batch of hairstyles was a definite step up, in my opinion. They show more creativity and diversity which really helps provide a much wider range of style options for your characters.
In particular, I appreciate the additional dreadlocks hairstyle they added, even though I’m not a fan of the side cut. Here’s hoping we’ll see more creativity like this soon! There’s lots of good ideas in this thread overall!
I dont know why you even need mastery points.
Why not get the skill when you get the experiance needed.
^ This. The xp grind is tedious enough.
Moa birds.
No matter what you tell them, they will never forgive you for accidentally hitting them and will fight you to the bitter end, even when it ultimately means their own death.
This is a really awesome idea, and a great way to actually implement a unique set of gliders that ARE NOT GEMSTORE items.
Unfortunately I just don’t see Anet doing absolutely anything with dungeons anymore. If they weren’t integral to your personal story, I bet they would’ve deleted them entirely. It’s a shame when a company completely abandons their own content.
I still love this idea though. A themed glider for each dungeon would offer such a good variety of skins from the get-go.
I hope Anet realizes that this isn’t going away, no matter how much they ignore it.
The bottom line is that devs have stated the tribal armor set will be attainable again at some point. That statement was made over a year ago.
A dev update on the issue would be great.
Exactly, there’s no argument about whether it should or shouldn’t return, because it’s already been confirmed by devs that it will return.
It’s not a matter of “if,” but “when,” so continuing to argue about that is pointless and a waste of space.
This is something that’s been datamined way back before the wardrobe system was even introduced. Regardless, I would absolutely adore this on my main female asura (especially since they actually wear the female version)!
Please bring this to the gemstore, Anet, and I will buy it in a heartbeat! It’s such a cute outfit!
This isnt communism online.
Then there are other ways to stroke your ego if it’s that important to you. You can run around with a special title for one, and they even show your PvP rank level next to your name. Appearance customization shouldn’t really be confined to that, in my opinion.
lol, communism? Okay, way to reach with that one, dude.

Prestige is meaningless. This game should be about character customization, not arbitrary exclusivity.
Meanwhile Anet says (not here of course) “We want to answer your questions, about creature design.” O.o Seriously?!? Why not answer questions we want answered? Or that need to be answered?
I know right? I looked at the thread title saying “WE WANT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS!”
I thought, “aw yeah! Finally we might get some answers to some very important concerns!”
Then I read the next bit, “…ABOUT CREATURE DESIGN! AREN’T YOU EXCITED?”
Okay then… that’s… good to know I guess…
Dragon's Stand: Client crash or disconnect
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Seabreeze.8437
To be fair, I don’t mind the crash.
No, you should never be content with, nor settle for something like this. It’s an extremely aggravating problem that needs to be addressed. I’m honestly stunned as to how this has gone on for so long now, especially since it can block progress for a lot of collections and map completion.
BTW it doesn’t matter if you’re using the 64-bit client. The game kicks you to the character select screen, it doesn’t crash all the way to the desktop.
Very frustrated that there’s no word on this…
I’m so down for this!
Well it happened again. At least I was able to get the plated weapon I needed and open up some pods before it happened.
Players have also reported this happening despite running the 64-bit client. I doubt it’s a memory issue, because I’m not crashing completely to the desktop, but rather I’m being kicked to the character select screen due to some network error.
My connection is fine and I literally have no problems like this on any other map in the game. Is there really no official word on this?… because it’s a pretty big problem.
Equally frustrated. After over an hour and a half of slogging through this event a crash occurs, and even though I somehow managed to get back in, no chest/reward at the end.
That was my experience as well. I was in a squad, but it probably didn’t even matter because I was told through map chat that it was a total server rollback. A couple squadmates were saying that they had unlocked the machined weapon collection, only to have it removed upon reloading the game.
Until they fix this I can not progress along in my pursuit of Nevermore.
And this is the biggest problem. Losing rewards is bad enough, but this is literally blocking progress for many players.
My favorite thing about the Paragon was hurling javelins at my enemies. So satisfying! I wish they would bring back throwing spears as a weapon. The closest we have right now is the Guardian’s underwater spear auto-attack skill, but I’d love a land based spear like that.
Okay, so this is now the second time in a row that the Dragon Stand map completely crashed after the meta event had succeeded. It’s the second time in a row I’ve been unable to unlock the machined staff collection I need to work toward the ascended bo staff specialization reward.
Not only that, but apparently as the map chat pointed out, it was a complete server rollback. I checked my rewards and achievements, and they were taken away from me. I had gotten the 25-point achievement for slaying the Mouth of Mordremoth in under 20 minutes, and it was gone after being disconnected. Everyone in map chat was talking about the atrocity afterwords as well.
Words can’t describe how frustrated I feel about this. Twice in a row now this has happened. How in the world is this not a priority fix? It is literally blocking my progress toward the goal I’m after.
Apparently this has been a known issue for quite some time, so how has this been allowed to persist for so long? There is nothing worse than feeling like your time has been wasted. Oh wait, there is something worse: having your rewards taken away from you. A real kick in the teeth.
Please address this issue. I don’t want to do the Dragon Stand meta anymore for fear that this horrible bug will just continue to block my progress and deny me the rewards I earn for my efforts.
Although I am well aware that there are different ways to pronounce it, I still cringe every time I hear any npc say “wih-vurrrn.” It sounds so silly…
The golem pronunciation doesn’t bother me at all though, as I’m used to either one… but that’s just me.
Things Anet is working on
Deposit/compact bags button too close. Anet realized this was an issue when a streamer complained about it. They are working on a solution. Not coming next Tuesday but coming soon (still need to test it).
So… the visual effects reduction feedback is pushing 900 posts without a reply (apart from the condescending rant we got on reddit), and yet this gets an almost immediate response because some streamer complained about it?
Gotta love those priorities…
As it’s already been stated, the Daredevil elite spec is not about stealth.
Hence, the name Daredevil.
Oh, and for those wondering what that Halloween jester outfit looked like, I took a screen cap for your viewing pleasure! Let it taunt you the way it has taunted me!
I’m pretty sure that is the female version of the male one I posted above, but I only seem to have a processed screenie of the male one. If I have one in female I’ll have to dig through my old screens and I don’t know what month to look in.
You know… you are absolutely right. But then I’d say that the male version looks terrible compared to the female version. Basically something similar to the op’s attached pics would be what I’d like to see in a jester’s outfit. It just pops more.
Or how about something like this? Anyone remember Gauntlet: Dark Legacy? Good times… and the Green Jester was awesome!
As fate would have it, I ran into a dev in-game and after chatting for a bit, I pitched the idea. He replied saying, “Well, there’s the Prince Thorn outfit…” To that I just kinda smiled and nodded as I figured it was safe to assume he’s probably never even seen a jester before.
Lol, the Prince Thorn outfit isn’t even remotely close.
An actual jester’s outfit would be so amazing! I’ve been holding out hope for one to use on my mesmer for so long, and TWICE now I’ve been taunted with unobtainable outfits. The first is the one that Donari attached in his first post. The second was an outfit I saw during Halloween. I agree that an outfit more closely resembling the Aion one would be preferred. It just looks so much more stylish and, well, foolish.
Oh, and for those wondering what that Halloween jester outfit looked like, I took a screen cap for your viewing pleasure! Let it taunt you the way it has taunted me!
So much time without a proper answer… I feel so discouraged…
Colin himself said something few weeks ago. On Reddit…
Do you mean that disparaging you’re-for-esports-or-you’re-against-gw2 post he wrote or has he written something since?
It’s been how long… and I’m still stunned by that response he posted (on Reddit, no less).
Problem seems to be that anet doesn’t want to separate pvp and pve skills and they balance everything around pvp.
^ This.
There will never be a true balance in this game until Anet finally separates the balance between pvp and pve (like in Guild Wars 1)… but unfortunately they don’t seem to have any interest/motivation to do that.
This is what causes many skills to be godly in pvp, yet worthless in pve, or vice versa.
Pocket raptors are zerglings basically; small, easy to kill, but deadly in massive numbers.
I hate them, too, but I doubt anet’s going to remove them. :P
Zerglings are way cuter.
zerg blob =/= real tactics
