Guild Mission/Favor problem for 1-2 p guilds

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Seera.5916

I find the hatred towards one to two person guilds, frankly disgusting, some people don’t want to be a part of a 50-man or 500 man guild because they feel lost in the shuffle and don’t have alot of say, especially when it comes to guild halls, I run a 2 person guild and with the current system it is absolutely viable, spending gold to buy influence has been how we built the guild so it’s clear Arena-net have designed guilds to allow for this kind of thing, and frankly I don’t want to see that change, secondly who are you to say what is and isn’t a guild? Destiny’s edge is considered a guild, and it’s only made up of about 5 characters, the lore doesn’t reference Destiny’s edge as a “party” it’s a guild, so I don’t see what’s wrong with asking for scaling down guild missions for smaller guilds. Thirdly I find the statement “Just make a guild” to be ridiculous, clearly you have never tried building a guild before because it’s not as simple as typing in a guild name and finding five random friends, odds are those 5 people you recruit will rarely if ever log into the game, and even if they do won’t even represent the guild you are trying to build, if your part of a larger guild and complaining about this, kitten off, because this doesn’t concern you, please explain to me how it takes away from your game-play expierience that a 1-2 man guild can have it’s own guild hall just like a 50-man guild? Me and OP aren’t demanding that it be as easy, obviously if your a larger guild then you can make stuff faster, all we are asking is for 1-2 man guilds to be actually viable

And don’t even bother with the argument of “Your just complaining because you don’t get access to the content” when it comes to raiding, I understand that because that is a skill-cap, but guilds? I hate the idea of things being arbitrarily gated off because you don’t have enough friends or you don’t happen to run a giant established community, please respect that some people don’t want to be a part of a medium to large guild and would rather try to form a small group of something like 2-3 person guild, sheesh, at the very least make a 5 man guild viable, at least then smaller guild’s can team up with other small guilds or PuG’s in order to complete the content and earn favor

And they may have scaled for 5 people guilds.

But the OP is asking it to be scaled for 1-2 people guilds.

And I don’t have any problem with missions not favoring 1-2 player guilds.

I would have a problem with ANet not having a way for 1-2 player guilds to earn favor in other ways so that they could unlock things like banks and vaults and banners, etc (everything that is currently able to be done with the current set up in guilds). With caution as to how so that big guilds don’t abuse it.

They already stated the Leader of the Pact must not be a member of any order or else one will be seen above the rest. The three Order leaders also have shown they are unable to work together due to their own bias beliefs as members of their own Order. Even before the Pact is formed they doubted any attempt to work with the other Orders would work.

That would be the aforementioned idiot ball. They’ve shown themselves unable to work together TO CREATE A JUSTIFICATION for the leafy messiah. At this point he’s served his purpose — they’ve all had a chance to ramp down those prejudices in the face of experience. He’s also demonstrated the sheer folly of overcommitting their individual resources to the Pact where they can be destroyed en masse.

So should it be the Whispers leader and anger all those who prefer Vigil or Priory? A non-order pact leader is the only way to go unless you want to force all living story steps to require personal story completion. Because otherwise how do you assume they have an order? Plus, it keeps the other orders from thinking that the order of the pact leader gets preference with regards to missions, supplies, and glory.

There’s little demonstrable advantage to there being a SOLE LEADER at all. The three Order leaders can manage the highest level policy and they can assign Pact taskforce commanders to individual tasks. Having Trahearne continue to lead everything after the action moved out of his theater of expertise lead (unsurprisingly) to disaster.

But what happens if there’s only enough resources to tackle a problem one way and each order has its own idea for how to tackle it? Who decides which idea is done if the three orders each honestly think their own idea is the best option?

So who would you say has the expertise on Mordremoth at this time that is capable of being a leader of the pact? Was it smart for Traherne to remain in command of the pact and not find someone else to lead it given the revelation on Sylvari and how some people may react to that? Probably not, but even the best leaders can and do make mistakes (I’m not saying Traherne was ever the best leader, he was a bit too unsure of himself to ever be the best leader.). And had Traherne even been given the information about Sylvari (I’ve been slack on finishing up LS2 so he might have and I’m not aware of it.)?

Ascended Gear to be Required for Raids

It’s just the final wing in each raid that “should” have full ascended.

Since it’s not something that is balanced around PUGing, then players will either be friends or in guilds together where players will know or be able to vet skill level or be willing to potentially carry.

As someone who does not have any plans to rush to get full ascended gear, I’m fine with 1 wing out of multiple wings needing full ascended, if I’m still able to get the legendary armor pieces. Since legendary is about being a "jack of all trades – let’s be honest even those who make their own legendaries don’t have to be masters of each aspect of the game – then it shouldn’t require the final boss to get the legendary armor precursor or whatever drops from raids for legendary armor.

I’m questioning if these people who want Trehearne to die even know what it may lead to.

A better story? More emphasis on the individual Orders and the choices WE made rather than all road lead to Orr?

Unless they already have a new character ready to replace Trehearne as the Pact Leader I doubt he will ever die.

They do and always have: The leaders of the Orders, who get handed the idiot ball so that we can have the one true leafy messiah.

Once Trahearne is the raid boss we’ve all seen coming, the Pact can go back to what it should have been all along – an alliance of 3 diverse but dedicated factions fighting the dragons.

But guild related content should not be designed around guilds that are too small. 1-2 person guilds are too small for content to be designed around. They should however design ways for those guilds to earn favor, albeit at a much slower pace as otherwise the big guilds will still have a much higher rate of acquisition.

You might not care if you lose your account. But the rest of us prefer to not have hackers and gold-spammers everywhere.

No, since you are actively risking the enjoyment of others by refusing to secure your account they should ask you to do it every time.

So you’re saying that hackers/gold-spammers are everywhere and adversely affecting and taking enjoyment out of the game for everyone? Do you have the statistics to back these statements up, because in the 10 years I’ve played GW1 & 2 without added security bots/spammers have never been a problem and most people still seem happy.

I don’t think using people’s subjective state of minds is a valid argument for forcing things onto others, especially when we have a report function already set up and working just fine.

It also hurts the game’s economy, which in turn hurts every player. The items they sold on the trading post to liquidate into gold? They get duplicated.

If they can roll-back a players account they should also be able to roll back any duplicated items or damage caused from hacked accounts. So the economy argument isn’t really valid, especially given we do not and never will have the statistics to back it up…

What I think that ANet should offer to people who don’t want to use the non phone Authenicator is an agreement that if hacked, before support restores their account, they they will pay supports costs to get their account back and do the account rollback to replace deleted chars and items. That way you can play without having the “harrassment” of having to click that button and ANet doesn’t have to pay the costs of people who refuse the security and then get hacked.

The companies have always paid for these types of things so what’s the need to change it now? It would be priced in and paid by the customer anyway as a part of business, and it could also be argued that the expansion is over-priced and already paying for it.

Showing customer loyalty and giving people CHOICE (opt-out) is what creates happy customers and a WIN-WIN scenario for all involved.

They don’t take away items that were sold to other players from those other players. Since they are completely innocent in the matter. They don’t want to make people scared to buy things on the TP in case it came from a hacked account. How would like to get a legendary and equip it and then find it taken from you? Or your full set of ascended armor taken because you bought silk that had come from a hacked account.

ANet doesn’t want to make innocent players be punished due to gold sellers. So they just duplicate the items.

Ethecatl, I agree we should be more downplayed. Our role should be one of “helper” in the greater story or it starts feeling like WE should be the pact leader moving armies and sending hundred to die on this beach so we can land thousands on another.

Seera, if he dies he becomes a martyr that those bickering parties can rally around. They all have one thing in common, a shared friend and leader/advisor has been killed…so rally round and avenge them.

That’s assuming they are bonded enough with the leader at the time and the leader’s charisma. Whether Traherne had that during the fight against Zhaitan, well never know.

Trahearne didn’t steal anyone’s glory. The PC is still one of the most powerful and influential figures in all of Tyria and someone Trahearne himself looks to for guidance. It seems kind of silly to me that Trahearne is treated as if he purposely phased out the PC’s accomplishments and made everyone think he was the one who performed all the hero’s tasks.

If anything our name and role is too major. Future installments in the franchise will have to tip toe around our character’s name just like this installment needs to be careful not to give any information on the hero that repeatedly saved the world in GW1.

As for the topic, it looks like Rytlock will be the Trahearne of this story. He will be the one leading the charge while our character does all the impossible feats of heroism to make the end goal come to fruition.

For non-Sylvari characters the story moves very quickly from death of mentor/introduction to Traherne to Traherne’s the leader of the pact. Had it been one of Destiny’s Edge, it may have gone over better. Player wise at least.

If Traheene had been better fleshed out before he took over, more players may have been accepting of the role be had.

As for me, I’m also aware that you don’t have your leader who keeps bickering parties cooperating go into dangerous battle. What happens if they die?

If you did not want exclusive rewards something to worry about then you should not have purchased Guild Wars 2. Even before the game was released, they rewarded exclusive Hall of Monuments skins to those that played Guild Wars. This information was clearly at hand. A precedent was set, and nothing was said assuring at this would never happen again. If you purchased the game without knowing this, that is also your own fault for not doing the very minimal research it would’ve taken to uncover this obvious fact.

Are you going to somehow argue that the Hall of monuments rewards should be made open and available to anybody doing anything in Guild Wars 2 now?

Guaranteed he would 100% support it being available through other paths, especially if the skin looks so cool that he must have it but doesn’t like the path to achieve it.

That’s why his entire reward structure is a failure.

He wants 100% of the skins, literally every single skin in this game, to be available through multiple paths. He doesn’t want ANY of them to be “exclusive”

Anet, clearly against it since guild wars freaking 1. But ohoni still believes they will change it lol.

He’s trolling at this point.

Anet has the proper structure in place but its not good enough for him since he wants an UNBALANCED (NO exclusive skins period) reward structure where anet is BALANCED (they have some exclusive skins with more coming and a lot of skins that are acquired through multiple paths)

He doesn’t seem to understand how blatantly unbalanced his method is, thus he is trolling

Oh dear I can imagine the backlash from that. The forum went crazy when a gem store item looked similar to a human cultural outfit. Something only race exclusive and then race exclusive to the race most people play.

It would probably very well be the final nail in the coffin for many GW1 vets. And rightfully so. I might even stop playing in protest as I wouldn’t want to earn those skins unless I played GW1 and earned them the original way. I don’t currently own GW1.

Guild Mission Reset Time Changed

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Seera.5916

Some of you are saying it’s not a big deal. But, in fact, it is. Not everyone is connected online all the time. Some people won’t hear about this until they log on for missions. And less than a week is not much time to plan an alternate activity. And for some people, this may be the only activity they show up for, so an alternate activity may have no appeal to them.

You can’t judge it from your own perspective. You have to look at it from other people’s perspectives. It doesn’t do a very good job of building the GW2 community if one of the major activities in the game gets hamstrung at very short notice.

Sure, it is only one week. But that’s a big deal for some people. Maybe that’s all they do in GW2. And the short notice is, frankly, a bit rude.

I agree with what was said above: do a double reset. Once at the current time, and then again at the newly scheduled time. I doubt very few guilds will be able to coordinate fast enough to get double loot between Sat night and Mon. And if they do, so what? Is that game breaking?

Personally, I’ll deal with it just fine, even though I look forward to my guild’s missions night. But I’m pretty laid back. But I feel this is a significant misstep, and do not blame anyone for getting upset over it.

Getting upset about it and offering suggestions for how to work it better if it’s possible to change at this point is all fine and good. But some were blowing it out of proportion.

So you’re saying being kicked in the shins is OK, as long as nobody kicks too hard. You guys are great.

ANet has decided that the best course of action for the game is to have no reset this Saturday.

Just because guild missions don’t reset doesn’t mean that suddenly you have to cancel the entire night. Maybe instead of guild missions get a picture scavenger hunt organized. You’ve got until this weekend to do so. Or do Obsidian Sanctum. Or do a run of jumping puzzles.

You’re making a mountain out of a mole hill. And yes, mole hills are annoying, but no need to blow it out of proportion.

If you actually tallied the posters, you’d find that there is a 41 page thread mostly consisting of everybody arguing against you.

Correction, mostly involved the same ~20-30 people arguing with each other. Yes, the raiders had a visible percentage majority in this thread, but then (as we already know) raiders are generally more active and overrepresented in forums, and it was a raid thread as well, so it’s no surprise. And if we look at total numbers, then the pro-raider group seems really small.

I’m not likely to raid at all or not much if I do. Probably not enough for legendary armor unless I get really lucky and the precursor is RNG based.

Yet, I don’t agree with Ohoni. There is no problem with content having exclusive skins. So even non-raiders can want exclusive skins.

This right here is what I’m talking about. A sensible position. Thank you for being a reasonable person, and I hope we see some laurel or open world collection based armor precursors for new sets in the future so the mechanical parts of the system are more fair for people like you.

This particular boat sailed off a long time ago and isn’t ever coming back to the harbor. They aren’t going to reverse it. You can either use your guild banks as your personal character’s banks or come to terms with it.

The only caution I would give on guild banks is if you’re the only member in it and you accidentally leave the guild, there’s nothing that can be done.

And if your account gets hacked and they raid the guild bank, then the items in the guild bank wouldn’t be restored.

Ohoni.6057:

Yes, that is the expected response.

Elaborate on what you mean by this.

Well, if the theory holds, the more unpleasant the initiation period (ie the attunement process and multiple failures before completing the raid), the more indoctrinated the belief that this is a virtuous cycle, that the effort was well worth it, that it was more good than harm, and that others should be subjected to the process. It’s quite fascinating, really. Someone could probably write a thesis on the subject.

Prior to any of the discourse with concern to compromises there was talk about homogeneralizing the rewards through things like tokens or achievements that allowed non-raiders to earn their legendary armor eventually but at a much slower rate than raiders. That was probably the closest thing to a compromise from us that you denied since the amount of time to invest would be much too long, do you still feel that way now?

Well, if I recall the “compromise” offer was that it might take a month or so to get it via raids, and like 2-3 years to get it via alternate means. That was never going to be a starter. Others suggested that items might be exclusive for a period of 1-6 months, which is far more reasonable, and then be available for everyone else. I think if you’re going to hard lock the exclusivity period then the items should be relatively easy to earn, while if you only make them more time consuming to earn then they can involve a lot more effort. My point is, they shouldn’t say “you can’t even begin working on them for six months, and then once it becomes available it would take another six months to earn.” If the method itself takes six months then you should be able to get started immediately.

But no, I’ve always been in favor of that method as a compromise, so long as the time and effort required for the alternative is a fair one, and not some cruel joke.

That’s fine and all, but know that the same applies to you as well.

In what sense?

I would rate it more like hundreds of people to hundreds of thousands of players as the comparison, but that’s fine.

I’m not going to tally posters, but I feel fairly secure that there haven’t been even a hundred unique posters on this specific line of discussion, and of those at least 4-10 of them were generally supportive or ambivalent to the idea of raid-alternative methods of obtaining these items. But even so, a thousand people would still be a drop in the bucket compared to the people that play the game, and in no way statistically representative of them.

But hazing requirements are usually some combination of illegal, immoral, and dangerous (and sometimes deadly). Raiding doesn’t fall into any of those.

Hazing is also required to get access to the group. You don’t get access if you refuse. You are forced to be based. The group is synonomous with the content. Nothing in the game will be balanced around legendary armor or having a specific skin. You are not locked out of any part of the game by not having done a single raid.

What I think ANet should offer to people who need to use an Authenticator is an agreement that since they are so technology inept at keeping their computers and accounts uncompromised, even with an already existing email verification required from new ip address, that they be willing to pay a stupid tax for the Authenticator service itself since it’s robbing development time from their less technologically challenged players.

I’m not technology inept to the point I can’t keep my computer and accounts uncompromised. But even the most tech savvy person can end up with things compromised. Because new viruses are developed and new means of distributing them are developed. Heck, my brother used to work for a retail office supply store as a tech and literally watched as the tech support person who was remote accessing the computer click on an ad pop up and gave the computer a virus. So even people who know better make mistakes.

It makes sense to harass you because your choice to be less secure means a higher chance that the economy will be hurt as well as their bottom line due to increased support needs. Both of which are bad for the game as a whole.

So will you agree to pay the increased support costs that a “do not remind again” button will bring? You’ll agree to pay every player that has SMS or an authenticator for the inflation that hacked accounts create? Because I care. I don’t want to pay more for future expansion packs or for future gem purchases or for future items in the gem store. I don’t want to pay more on the TP for items due to inflation.

Help. I just randomly got a text from GW2 Authenicator giving me a code to log in but I never even tried to log in at the time, and I have it “remembered” or whatever on my PC. Should I be worried or is it their system just going weird?

Not everyone is computer savvy about their passwords and computer security. ANet can’t tell if you are or are not knowledgeable OP, and each hacked account costs them money in Support costs. To ask them to remove it is for them to accept increased costs due to all the people who aren’t computer secure and would refuse an Authenicator because getting hacked only happens to the other guy.

This.

It also hurts the game’s economy, which in turn hurts every player. The items they sold on the trading post to liquidate into gold? They get duplicated.

It’s not very difficult to say remind me later and it only comes up every 5th time you log in.

You can also get something like WinAuth or the Google Authenticator to get rid of it and not give anyone your phone number.

I would first suggest bank slots.

No. You need to release your API key with the correct permissions set.

Here’s the problem.

If you refuse to give your efficiency link, so that people can see your gear, will you be discriminated against?

i.e. Refusing to ‘show’ your gear is equal to not having the correct gear.

Refusing to show your gear will be reason enough to exclude someone. It will happen.

And there are plenty of people that play the game actively that do not care for the meta at all and would not use that site at all for pugging dungeons. Or even heard of it. I know I didn’t until I opened up this post.

And raids aren’t supposed to be easily puggable so when grouping for that, it’s not a pug and you’d likely know what your friends are using. Or would want to know what the group was wearing to make sure you had everything you needed for the variety of encounters in the dungeon.

The only guilds that would likely require it are hard core guilds and you’d be willing to give it out if you were the right fit for a hard core guild.

Not using that thread as proof that drops are linked to accounts, never even claimed that it proved that.

What it does prove however is at least once in the past, when the player base has experienced something off with drops, Anet first told them they were imagining it, that everything was working as intended. It turned out upon investigation that the player bases feelings and concerns on the issue were indeed valid.

Proof that some accounts are lucky?

No, but an indicator that despite Anet saying ‘working as intended’ they could be wrong if they bother to check it.

You didn’t read my post did you? And I mean really read it.

Because it was clear that ANet was onto investigating the issue within 1 month of the issue starting (and one month is reasonable, takes players time to realize the problem isn’t just a case of a bad streak with RNG). And it took them 3 months after that to find the problem AND fix it. And they posted at least once per month with progress updates. So the thread you posted does not support your claim.

Toxicity in the RP Community

Considering forum based RP’s can be pretty strict on post length and post content and time between posts and what you have to do if you plan on being away for any length of time, I’m not surprised that some RP groups in this game are a bit demanding in how quick and how well you post.

actually you are wrong on that account. Forum base RPs are not really Strict on post length and they give you plenty of time to respond and in fact they encourage that you take your time with your response and not rush it. Trust me I have done forum Roleplaying a lot and Its always been that way. We go from Semi Lit to Advance Lit. Depending on who made the thread and started it. Advance lit requires you to have 4 paragraphs and good grammar. Semi Lit requires less and your grammar can have mistakes in it. The good thing about forum Rp is that you can do a lot more.. Than you can do In game. You can add details and other small things. you can not do that in game.

No the problem with Roleplaying in this game is the fact that Roleplaying is even happening in the game. Until Anet supports the community like blizzard does.. I believe Role playing should not even be allowed in the game util they get their own chat channel Etc.. As most of the time its not really Role playing at all.

the mega servers did not help matters when you get lumped into a Shard that is filled with Role players that spam up your chat etc. Yes i could just turn it off. But that is not fair as sometimes emotes are non Rp and are ways to greet others.. Why did they have to merge TC with the other servers.. why could they not just leave that server separated from the others so Non Rpers do not have to pray they do not get lumped into rp infested area of DR ?

Or better yet..Why not give RPers their own chat channel they only know ?. That way they can use that to RP and stop spamming Emote ?. Sorry this might sound more harsh than it is meant too. its late but this is how i currently feel at the moment.

Like I said can be strict. I didn’t say all forum based RP’s are strict. But some are. All depends on who’s running the RP.

[OPTION] Remove confirm box salvaging Rares

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

When a rare item is salvaged, I’d like to see a checkbox something like “Don’t prompt about this again for 10 minutes”. It would allow people salvaging multiple rares at a time to avoid the extra clicks and keep their salvage kit active. By keeping it on a 10 minute timer it helps avoid the risk of people checking a permanent dismiss box and then accidentally salvaging something unintentionally at a later date.

This sounds like a reasonable compromise. The average player isn’t likely to have more than 10 minutes worth of salvaging to do in one go. And the average player isn’t likely to forget they’ve checked that box within a 10 minute time frame.

Had to hunt it down but here we go.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Share-your-data-about-perceived-strange-drop-behavior-here/first

I’d have to hunt for the six or seven threads that prompted Anet to make that one, but hey after 31 pages.

“Yeah guys turns out not all our loot rules were working right.”

1st post in the thread CREATED by a dev:

We’ve seen reports from players questioning the randomness of the drop mechanisms in GW2 and in particular asking if it’s been changed recently. This is not the case and we don’t think that the randomness mechanism is misbehaving, but we’re running some data to be sure there isn’t anything unexpected going on. So far nothing shows anything suspicious but we’ll keep gathering data and analyzing it.

Bold is mine. So in the first post in the thread, they’ve said the system shouldn’t work like that, they’ve not gotten enough concrete proof to indicate that something’s off, but they’re running tests anyway. And the tests hadn’t found anything, but that they were going to continue to gather data and analyze it.

That sounds like they didn’t think there was an issue, but were looking into it anyway with their mass simulations.

It should also be noted that the post was posted 3 days before Christmas, so that meant more employees were taking holiday vacations than during a normal period. About 3 and a half weeks later, Colin posts that they’re still looking into the issue and that it’s mostly a manual process and they’re also simultaneously trying to develop an automated system.

No dev post, but based on posts in the thread, a patch was released 12 days after Colin’s post that seemed to have code to fix the problem, which means in about 1 month from when they posted for more info on the problem, they had released a possible fix.

On February 2nd, they determined that none of the patches since November had broken anything related to the loot. But that they were going to go and look at every single loot table to make sure nothing funky was going on there. And that claiming it was the November Lost Shores patch or a later patch that did it was a conspiracy.

That’s not a “there’s no problem”, that’s a “the problem is not X, we’re looking into Y now.”

16 days later, Colin posted that a patch coming out later that month would have a fix to the problem as they finally located the problem and verified that everyone who had reported issues fit the condition of the problem.

So it was more like 3-4 months, but ANet got enough data to show that there might be an issue around 1 month.

I honestly believe that some accounts are flagged for better drops that others upon creation.

They say they didn’t do it that way, but it also took six months of proof being posted daily before they admitted to a bug in people being flagged for loot.

Source?

Edit: Oh. If you’re going to link Final Rest then you should know that it didn’t drop at all prior to when they fixed it.

Check these forums, unless Anet deleted it, it should have a red tag and over a thousand replies.

Something was happening, people were getting flagged with DR and it wasn’t turning off for them ever.

Eventually Anet did actually investigate and find a problem, but only after months of proof.

Do you not remember? The topic was on the front page for months.

How do you know ANet didn’t start its investigation pretty quickly and just waited for enough data to make sure they had the only cause for the problem and the correct cause and not just a band aid fix?

there is hardly any dif in 5 and 9 mate the dif starts at 10

That’s not the point though. The point is to respect and follow the LFG. If the LFG says they want to do level 5, then you shouldn’t join and force the group to do level 9; you should make your own group or find a group that wants to do level 9.

I wonder how much of that is just not paying attention since that popup automatically enters the highest scale out of all the people in the group.

Then wouldn’t that likely for many players now be something higher than 9?

And even in the instance that it is, that wouldn’t be forcing players to do 9, that’s making a mistake and easily corrected if it was a mistake.

Fractals are PvE. They’re still options for you to complete your daily with. ANet can’t cater to every player’s personal play styles. Too many differing play styles.

I’ll say it again: It’s not crippling to miss Daily Completion every once in a while when double fractals comes up.

I have the same computer for the last 2 years… I also have more then enough knowledge to know it’s not me, it’s Arenanet. Please stop bullcrapping me. I don’t want your opinions, I just hope someone from the development team reads this so they can look back and analyze what’s wrong, not me. I am also serious about Arenanet to stop with HOT and fix the core game first (dungeon bugs, PvP mmr, lags, etc).

-.-

Why do you keep dodging the question then? The problem can very well be on your end. If you’re unwilling to provide info then how can you expect to receive help?

I have no idea what he’s running. However, I know what I am running. I’ve gone through all the steps including sending them my specs, support tickets, DXdiag, etc. there’s a problem that exists on their end. It’s real. It mysteriously effects some people and not others. Telling him that you don’t have a problem isn’t helpful (when he and many others do).

But he may not have the same issue that you and others have. His issue may stem from somewhere else. Or he may have another issue on top of the issue you’re having. So him not posting his information does hurt him.

It could be at a step before it gets to ANet, but after it leaves your end. And then ANet needs data on which one(s) are having issues so that they can use their influence and contacts to get them fixed.

Have you seen any posts where people organized actual experiments or was it all based on what people remembered? If it’s the latter, it’s not proof enough (memory is fallible). You need actual data. Like farmed X cliff bats, Y risen, and Z separatists, got A greens, B, blues, C exotics, D precursors, my MF was between ## and ###. And have hundreds of drops for comparison where the MF doesn’t vary all that much?

And did it ever occur to you that it took 6 months because they wanted enough data to be able to be sure they found the cause and fixed it? Didn’t want to jump to conclusions and change something that wasn’t broken and broke it.

Despite your sarcasm, two noobs have gotten precursor drops in the same party ahead of me. One on his first dungeon run with me guiding. At the same time I’m getting pure junk with 192%+ magic find.

The odds are against that. So, I want to know why. Does magic find actually work? Did I offend some dev?

Precursor drop rates are very low.

Remember that 300 × 0.00000001 is 0.000003. Still very low. You aren’t going to perceive a difference on drops that already have a very low drop rate.

Yes, the odds are low that two people in the same party on the say day will get a precursor drop. But still possible without any conspiracy being in play.

It’s possible because each individual drop doesn’t care what the previous drops were.

Sorry, OP, but I find the idea of elite RPers pretty hilarious.

I can just imagine them getting all shrill and livid and gradually turning purple, behind their screens, as people type too slowly, or get the lore wrong.

Someone should do a show about these people, quite frankly…

You have some things mixed up. Your friend definitely would not have needed help with “Setting the Stage” since that is just talking. If it was the step before that then it wouldn’t have any effect on your character’s order either since it would have been chosen before that as well. It does affect the storyline you end up seeing.

There is a bug in the personal story where you can get onto the wrong story track if you accept another player’s progress and they aren’t doing the exact same step as you.

It only affects the story, it does not affect order armor choices.

You haven’t officially changed your order. If you play the next chapter without anyone else in your party, your story will switch back to the correct chapter, if I recall correctly. If you wanted to see the story, you would have to pair up with someone doing the story steps you missed, you can accept their progress if it lets you, but you would be forced into any options they chose.

I got word from support that this requires further investigation and they would get back to me when they have completed the investigation. That was almost 4 hours ago… How long does it take to look at the account and realize it has done that same kitten thing that happened to EVERYONE ELSE that posted about having this exact same issue on the forum post that I linked….

Seriously this is the only game Company I have ever seen that doesn’t want to accept money …

Because they have to make sure your account isn’t an actual fradulent purchase and not a scammer trying to slip by due to the higher number of false positives. I’m not saying your purchases are fraudulent, but ANet has to make sure.

Guild Name filtering change

I did and that’s why I didn’t want to do it. Hello? Did you read what I said? I didn’t want to post this in a forum. I would have loved to have gotten to avoid it. I can’t even block people here like the transphobic jerk in Lion Arch’s map chat this morning.

They can go be queerphobic wherever they want.

No, Support said it was fine. Hello? Again. They said it was FINE. Support. Themselves. They said for me to go through teh forums because that was the only way to talk to the devs who are the ones with access to the filter list. Support doesn’t have that access. They said it was fine. They even said I can go around the filter and use leet or whatever for the filter to not pick it up automatically.

Then don’t act like people are breaking any rules or doing anything wrong when they post. You aren’t very likely to get a dev response. They’ll read the thread, but they likely won’t respond. And any response is likely to come from not a dev. Such as from Gaile.

Just because Support told you it was fine, doesn’t mean they sent a mail out to every player saying it’s fine to have queer in a guild name if it’s not used offensively. People will still likely report your guild name for being offensive and bypassing the filter to do so, even though Support says it’s fine. However, they have to investigate every report and as such, takes time away from other reports and other tickets.
