Silly questions are silly. You find magic orbs that seem to “magically” counter their magic that allows you to turn the tide of war. But that all applies to fighting Dragons, which we’ve resigned ourselves NOT to doing so no point in thinking about it.

You know, in a “smart” community, we’d designate some (one? two?) servers to pass the event to get the merch and some servers to fail, so people can continue to farm. With free guesting you just go where it’s you kind of deal.

If arah is contested, and the embers are up, I’m fairly certain it prevents the arah chain from starting. If I’m wrong, I apologize.

But that still doesn’t make it right to fail events on purpose. Anyone who calls anyone else a troll for purposefully attempting to complete an event is an idiot and needs to be slapped with a fish.

It use to be you had to do the even chain to open arah. But people complained enough and the dungeon is always open.

Today I Learned: That trying to complete the event gets you labeled a ‘troll’. And those of us who might want to actually use the flippin’ waypoint as the quick route to the Cathedral, Promenade, and Hallows, well, too bad or something.

You know, on Jade Quarry, everyone was sitting doing the ember farm. I was trying to open Temple of Grenth, but I couldn’t pry a person away from Meddler’s Waypoint with anything. Then a group of trolls showed up and finished the event and bam, Temple of Grenth open. Temple of Melandru open. Temple of Dwanya open. People starting roaming the zones for once…that was the way it was intended.

Well, each event does have a point where a bunch of mobs spawn, and champs, why wouldnt they go there since their main farm is gone? All of my servers temples open after reset, but what did the zerg do once the temples were open?

I agree with serophous. The people that claimed that they want to do the event only ruin the farm and wait for peoples reaction and then uses remarks to make people furious. You cannot blame him if he really wants to do the event, in fact we should help him. But if such behaviour spans across 3 servers, the intention is questionable.

Sadly, it spans across most servers, at least the NA servers.
I have done those events many times with my guild and
randoms from map chat, and have simply walked into that fight. Never got much in the way of rewards for it, but it was nice lending a hand.

The problem here is that Anet knows the antis are griefing other players, shoot, they even post pictures and vids of the fact, there have been people on this very thread LFG to stop the farming. So why has Anet not stopped them from doing it?
What the anti farmers are doing is clearly disruptive as it is their stated goal. They are doing it on most if not all of the NA servers so it is an organized effort.

They have made it very clear who and what they are, so why haven’t the children been given a time out and a good talking to? If that behavior is ok with Anet then what, if any, are the limits to bad behavior? Would it be ok, for example, to show up in large groups and up scale an event while not taking part in it and do it on most NA servers? Very crappy thing to do I think, but what is the difference?

The solution seems simple to me, ban the anti-farmers for a few days and let the rest take notice, and the rest of us can make our coin in peace. Lord knows that every other money making event has been turned into a “not worth the effort” event. Anet wanted people in the open world and now they are out there, and being abused for it.

Yaks bend is contested atm, and most likely other lower pop servers. People go to the higher pop cause everyone is already there.

Which brings me to my point that people completing it arent doing it to succeed but to troll. I logged on just as the escort was starting, and how many people were there? None! No one was doing it! So, if people guest to farm, why not guest to complete the event?

Look, i farm time to time, but i cant do it constantly. Ive only done the ember farm two to three times and got bored, same with the living story farm.

Does this farm need nerfed? A bit, events should give a good reward for completing (that needs buffed), and as i suggested before, maybe adding bonus conditions to events for a greater reward.

BUT I dont agree with people completing the event not to complete it, but to grief. Thats just uncool.

Great idea, you do just that, and don’t leave out you or your fellow traveler’s part of the conversation, the part where the farmers were goaded into telling you what they think of your actions.

That gate event doesn’t mean a thing to you people, it is just an excuse to grief people for doing something you don’t think they should do.
Nothing has prevented you people from doing that event every day for months on end, yet you didn’t do it. If you want into the dungeon, way point right to it, it is seldom contested and even then only for a few min, maybe 10.

pretty much this. Orr was barren a long time ago. The only time you would see people was during reset to just do some fast temple runs then thats it. But it does seem that those who are completing the event aren’t saying “yeah! we did it!” to “yeah! we ruined a farm! LOLZ look at the rage!”

Took me about 50 tickets to beat her, and multiple respecs and gear swaps playing a warrior, but I did beat her. Anet said themselves that not all specs will work, and you will need to re-tune gear and traits, so I did.

The following was as a warrior:

1st entering – orb pulls me, and darkness falling kills me. Ok, not a great start, but never did it before. Watched people ahead of me, learned that i need to destroy those orbs, ok.

2nd attempt – ok, killed the orb with GS, dodged, how the frick to i do dmg to her? What are these white lights? do I stand in them to get a buff like the other chick? Oh crap, wasnt paying attention, clone got me. Watch players again, saw they kited clones into the light things and threw an item. Ohh…ok.

attempt 10 – ok, I’m starting to see a pattern with the light spawning, I can memorize where the first 3 appear and I’ll range the orbs so I dont have to move a lot. Orbs are obstructed…I qq to other watchers and get told that they cant be ranged, only melee’d. Drat. but i noticed that after I get the second crystal to throw, a second orb spawns…

attempt 17 – OMG OMG OMG! I made it to p2! Now to put down my banner and…whoa! too many red circles! Dodge! Oh crap, cripple! weakness?! clones! death from above! gah!!!

Attempt 26 – ok, banner as a trait bad idea, so I will use shake it off, FGJ, and OMM plus sigil. kitten it, I wasnt watching the red circles again…

attempt 30 – Ok, p2 again, sigil, shouts, charge with GS and 100b and…owowowowowow and crashing from above, dead. Ok, bum rushing not working for me. And I have no ‘oh crap’ skill. Plus dodge not regening fast enough. So, time to sit back and think a bit. I can use the signet for dodge regen, and removes conditions, good. healing signet will help with the base dmg in p1. Endure pain will be my oh crap button. That leaves me with FGJ and sigil for dmg boosts.

Attempt 33 – ugh! I just cant melee her with GS, its too risky. I’ll try rifling p2. But I noticed that there are safe spots in the area that no red circles spawn, and it goes in the same direction, if I just run across the middle more, I can stay in there and dps…

Attempt 36 – Indeed, the cutting more across the inner zone to a safe area works. I even survived to the time limit! progress! Now my problem is dmg. Rifle isnt working. I’ll try bow.

Attempt 40 – Ok, bow is working better for me, but its not fast enough, and I am making mistakes still. Ok, full on condition gear. Change spec for increased condition duration, dogged march for extra healing and reduced time on cripple, the stance mastery to give me vigor when using my stance, as I should use it as a last resort when out of dodges anyway, lemon grass food for more reduce cripple time and weakness. oil for weapon.

Attempt 44 – Ok, keep calm. phase 2, dont rush, rushing leads to mistakes. Just run and shoot, spam fire and bleed when up, aoe orbs if pulled with 3. She’s almost dead…I can do this! She’s at a quarter of a bar..! Screw it! GS swap, charge in, endure pain, 100b…YES!!! WOO! I beat her!

Guy who thought I lost – “you should use rifle, better dmg”
Me – “Killed her with conditions with bow.”
Guy – “what? no way.”
Me – points to mini “yes.”

My friend was also getting ticked off at her, raging at me in pms how it was so stupid. But he still kept at it and beat it. But at least to lessen the difficulty, yeah, fix cameras…

Ember farming is exactly what GW2 needed, it promotes getting a group together to do events. What Arenanet need to do now is tweak it so that it’s more beneficial to complete the event.

Co-ordinating an event chain is way better than waypointing from champ to champ, if you removed the incentives for doing events like ember then all you are left with are waypoint farming.

I’d much rather do event chains than farming a champ rotation.

I just want to point out, we agree. The game is more fun and exciting when defeating things and working together with other players is rewarding. Champions have always been an issue in this area, and it’s why we addressed it, we’re continuing to pursue other areas in the game in upcoming releases as well.

That being said: the behavior we want is people join up together to play events, but they want to succeed those events and win them, we never want to be in a state where intentionally failing an event is more rewarding or better for players. We’re not going to take a giant hammer to champion loot, we love it and love seeing people joining together to do events. We do want to make succeeding events what the game is about. We also do want to make some events in the future even more challenging, and in return more rewarding for succeeding.

You will see changes over time to help directly encourage players to always want to try and succeed events, we don’t ever want to create conflict between players who want to progress an event chain, and those who want to fail it. It’s bad for the game and not what Gw2 is all about.

What if you add something like ’ the faster you clear it, the better the gold and karma reward’, ‘if x npcs are still standing at the end, better reward’ ya know, bonus conditions.

When Anise did this it really made me question her motives, especially given the charr/human peace atm. I wondered when she made him fight a charr at all, let alone Rytlock. Whaaat is she up to…?

I don’t see any ulterior motives to her actions. She was just toying with a friend of hers.

The charr Logan fought was a Renegade (model wise at least). And come on, the Watchknight turned into a quaggan. The fight with Logan was clearly merely a demonstration for entertainment, and not something to give motives.

Besides, charr know that they’re tough opponents and it’s pointblank obvious that they were a threat to humanity – and some factions still are.

See, this is where I am starting to see it now. Ok, Anise wouldn’t be a traitor, but what if that really isnt Anise? But a watchknight disguised as her? I’m seeing the doppleganger bit playing out more and more, and we saw the Aetherblades mess with the watchknight against logan, they probably have their own mesmers to disguise watchknights as prominent figures to get close to Jenna or other leaders.

And before the whole “then she wouldnt be able to do the magic on the other watchknight”, again, taken over from a distance, they can probably cast the spell from a distance, the doppleganger just says whakittens told to say.

Actually, the more i thought about it, the more i think these knew guardians are a bad idea. We just saw one transform into a leader of the charr, and act like one, knowing the past. How do we know no one else is really a ‘robot in disguise’?

Ok, during the opening ceremony, we saw the robot turn into rytlock and know something of logan’s past. Logan didnt find it funny and probably had problems fighting it (though he did) after the whole personal story.

Which brings me to my point.

Tell me anet, have you decided to finally progress the personal story through the Living story, and now making our choices in the personal matter?

What I am getting at is, we lost a mentor on Claw Island. These robots can read minds apparently. So, how soon will we be facing Forgal, or Sieran, or….gasp! even having to face and kill Tybalt himself….

If so, I give you props. If not, I suspect our rival to have played parts in the past more than known.

Shes going to be captured by a giant green turtle with spikes on its shell, and spits fire, escaping into a hot air balloon with a basket looking like an evil smiling face.

In order to save her, we must enter a dungeon that hws several castles in it, defeat each one to find her, an each wrong cadtle will just have another captive telling us to try somewhere else.

And when you do find the right castle, only way to beat the tiant turtle is by being on a bridge, getting by him, ajd using an axe at the end to cut it, sending the giant turtle into the river of lava.

Eh, i think the plots are connected, but at the same time, seems to be taking too long for them to be.

We are suppose to be getting a rival, one to annoy us. Hasnt happened yet after so many months.

Chances are, all the things going wrong in events is caused by said rival, who is trying to weaken the tyrian forces for the next major villian (dragons dont seem to be that important to anet atm)

Ok. So, built my own new comp, everything was working fine for awhile, then my video card started artificing and turning off suddenly, freezing the computer.

Sent it back, got a new card. Still kept shutting off suddenly, making a noise like the fan was turning off (a wheezing sorta slowly down). But after that initial stutter, it will play for hours afterwards.

Company was kind enough to send a THIRD card, and still getting the same problems as the second card.

Since the power source is 700w, that should be enough to run the video card and the processor, so any help as to why it keeps just turning off suddenly, then working fine for awhile?

Note: When the screen locks up after I hear the noise inside, the screen turns either all white, all black, or (once) all green. Then the card shuts off (monitor says loss connection) then turns back on.

The ambient dialog at times was pretty good, and almost none of it worthy of eye rolls that make you appear to be having a seizure.

Knowing that that group has taken over the story mode writing leaves me wondering how painful it must be to have to write off the expense of building a time machine so they could go back and hire a 7 year old Stephenie Meyer to write the personal stories that shipped with the game. She won’t be unemployed long though, in a few years she’ll realize the ‘sparkling zombie’ craze is ripe for plucking and will write a whole new series called “Dusk”.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the wit and charm of the ambient text to show up in future story dialog!

1. You will receive one chest per day / reset. This was done to not crash servers. You can find all that you earned and next tier in the achievements panel.

2. Go to the dock guy (who took you to the strange area). Head offboat and turn right, go up a slope and youll find a bunch of shop keepers for turn ins of mats for chests. One takes scraps.

3. To get to southsun, go to the wp in LA near the fractal dungeon. There is a gate to southsun.

Anyone else feeling the devs are sitting at their comps on break, reading this forum and snickering to themselves while eating popcorn?

I despise dueling and in games that feature it, I always have duels set to auto-decline.

That said, I can think of no good reason to deny duels to people who enjoy them. It doesn’t affect me in the slightest. And in over 15 years of playing MMOs, I can count on one hand the number of times a dueler said something to me about declining his request, and they all went on ignore. Problem solved.

Besides, duels are occasionally fun to watch. Sometimes its cool when you’re walking through the city and suddenly a fight breaks out. I mean, as much as the “Living World” concept has been shoved down my throat… aren’t street fights something that happens in a Living World?

I will support this if, and only if, the lionguard show up to haul off the fighters once done and pay a fine.

Actually, its the rpg element causing people to be trained to want rewards. So, instead of blaming mmos for that expectation, we should blame DnD.

Having same problem here. Cept I have an AMD Fx 6200 six core processor. Playing for 5-10 min, suddenly black screen, comp shuts down, have to restart.
