On a site nothe ther are a few questions on the forum that are not officially awsered that are no spoiler nature. Like if the new content will be 80 only. What will happen to world completion if there will be new maps. Where will the update go online and other non spoiler stuff. Plus there are some people that are asking about things that we are shure wont happen int this pathc like new races.
All those questions are already answered.
1. Log in during the time of season 2, unlock entry in journal, play when you hit 80. (Yes, log in as in your character must be inside the game).
2. Same as what happened to world completion when they added new waypoints back when, if you have completed world already, you aren’t affected, if you havent , your goal got longer.
3. No one in an mmo gives an exact date or time when a patch will go live. There can always be delays. But I can tell you what’s going to happen when it does go live. Everyfew hours the servers will go down for a small patch to fix something, because the internal testers don’t put as much strain on the servers as public.
4. As for the other questions, bobby answered that. They are busy trying to make the patch right, so not much time to spend on forum posts. Probably next week, if lucky, we’ll have more active devs.

We have basically joined the new Destiny’s Edge, and Rox is calling it a guild. So, maybe down the road in the living story, our new guild buddies decide to get our own guild hall? Thus, our housing idea, where we can fill with trophies, crafting stations, etc.
Even more so, our own non-living story guilds can create their own guild halls too. There, it ties into the living story to make more sense instead of just inserting it.
Did the op miss the whole thread and discussion on templates and best ways to implement, features they would have, etc?

Liandri was born into a rich noble family of Divinity’s Reach. Her father was a tradesman, selling fine silks to the other nobles. Her mother was one to constantly have company over, whether it be business partners, or friends, or other nobles visiting from far away.

Eventually, she learned the art of Illusions and became a Mesmer. If anything, her training was a good means to get away from her parents. But hard times soon fell upon the family, and the blame landed on Liandri for the cost of her training. She was locked in her dark room, the only comfort she was given was conjuring her own illusions to hold her.
Once old enough, she left her family, cutting all ties, and became a wandering adventurer. She soon became known as Liandri the Dark, for how she seemed incased in darkness, the same with her illusions. She was a deadly force, able to win battles without ever taking a scratch. And those that do seem to break the darkness are met by a woman so fierce, so vicious, that they become blinded by her light and beauty, and are stuck down in one blow.
What hype, i havent seen hype of any kind in this forums.
I think he means the players hype. Anet really isn’t hyping this at all. Sure, a few screen shots, the journal, and saying ’we’re excited too!’ (Which duh, a company isn’t going to trash talk their own stuff). But everything else about the patch we know NOTHING of, which is only leading to the fear of ‘nothing new coming’, as people are hungry for something different (not just story wise).
So if people accuse a net of hyping this, its false. They are going to let the patch speak for itself. Players are the ones hyping it.

1: Asking for dueling in GW2 isn’t because people want GW2 to be “other mmos”, however, in many cases it most certainly is as a result of people enjoying dueling in other mmos and want it for our game as well. (In which it probably would work very well)
2: If we have a few, small dueling arenas (a circle on the ground would suffice) spread across Tyria, inside of which dueling would be allowed (but nowhere else), these issues would disappear.
3: As I’ve said once before, finding a custom arena server where you can actually duel people is really, really rare. It’s simply not worth sitting in the browser for an hour when it mostly results in nothing.
Whenever I do find them, however, I’m easily having more fun than I’ve ever had in GW2 – It’s an absolute blast and I’m sure a lot of others would say the same.4: Everyone will not find dueling fun. A lot of people will though. My first MMO was WoW, like a lot of others. The combat system wasn’t really as well suited for dueling, but nonetheless there where always about half of the amount of people outside the gate dueling as there where in the busy city center (Where the bank and AH/TP was).
And how is dueling not a valid form of PvP practice? It’s the purest way to practice 1v1, arguably a much more effective way when compared to the means we have today.
I find it a lot easier to learn countering another profession/build by dueling them in Courtyard (Again though, it’s a huge struggle finding a server for that)And it is a lot of fun, and a great way to pass the time. I’m sure almost everyone have spent an awful lot of time waiting in LA/VK for a group (of guildies) to assemble. How great would it be to be able to duel in comfortable distance of the FotM portal?
5: Again, dueling areas would completely solve this (if it would ever be an issue in the first place.)
Frankly, I don’t see why people gets so passionately against dueling? It adds a lot for the vast amount of players that will enjoy it. And it will draw a lot of players to sPvP. The few negatives is nothing against the positives, especially with dueling areas. I’m sure most people that want dueling will accept dueling areas – As long as they can enjoy dueling other people. We could even have them hidden away for those that doesn’t want to take part of dueling – Put them in the sewers of LA, in caves or on cliffs, as long as we get dueling.

Fun is a matter of perspective. Your fun is not the same as others fun, as should be apparent by people not wanting duels. You also say you don’t understand why people are against it, yet the same question can be asked why people are for it, since this topic is so beaten you can’t tell its even a horse anymore.
And what is ‘a lot’? Is it half the player base? 3/4? You can keep saying a lot, but that could mean just 100 people. And since anet has shown no movement toward duels (other than gold for customer arenas), then ‘a lot’ =/= ‘enough’.
You cannot claim, in anyway shape or form, that it will draw people to spvp. There is no proof or evidence of it.
And again for dueling areas, people will NOT accept them. Why? Because the option is already there in point 3, and you said yourself those are rare. If dueling is already rare, then it is not as popular as you think, or people do not accept being confined.
There are a lot of interesting theories being posted. I don’t want to get in the way of that. Also, the LW team is crazy busy right now so we’ve gone mostly silent on the forums (not officially—it’s more of a lack of free time than anything else). I’ll be really curious to see what people think of episode 1 the day it releases, where they think the season is headed, and how they like the story journal and our scripts, VO, gameplay, etc.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing that they are using social media. It increases their exposure, which is good.
However, anything “official” should always be posted via their site as well as through all their social media outlets. Thus producing the greatest absorbency of the information across their audience – as person A make look in place A, person B may use options B and D, person C may use only option C, etc etc..
Fan made stuff that they feature, I can see that being limited to whichever outlet they choose to feature it on.
What others have said and I agree with is, the social media outlets should redirect people TO the gw2 website, not gw2 website directs to social media. Make the announcement of the teaser on social media, or post the pic there, but make sure that pic is on the main website too. I know the post leading to the website was intended to help, but to me and others, it did feel like a slap in the face (I understand the intentions were good though).
Perhaps if Bobby had responded first, AND THEN the link to the pics, it would be a different story, since his response was what this thread was originally intended for. Even a simple “wow guys, great thread. Gives me something to read in the morn with coffee and bagels” would’ve been nice and fun to see. It gives the community closure in that you are still there (and yes, need to make time, ls2, China, etc).

I do get where you’re coming from, we won some and we lost some. Inevitably we mostly played a defensive game, minimizing Scarlet’s damage by beating back her various machinations. However in the Personal Story we basically won ever single time, so maybe ANet tried to do it differently in S1. Hopefully in S2 we get more meaningful victories.
I think what Anet was trying to do with Scarlet is just say she was too smart for us (ya know, graduating colleges, yada yada). Though we really didnt find out till the end, the second this war started, we lost, no matter what we did. They had it that she planned everything out all the way back to the reactor going off, (chances are, if the god scenerio won, she probably wouldve been in some ancient library or something to find the leylines).
Basically, she knew every move we were going to make before we made it (toxic tower, we just gave her a stronger syrum really by injecting our antidote). The marionette was a test to find the weaknesses in her bot to make better, smaller versions. And it was all planned out that even IF she died, she would win. Seven Movie SpoilerJust like at the end of the movie Se7en, the villian wins, despite dying.
Really, Scarlet was the perfect villian, no flaws, nothing, just perfect, which I reallllly hate when making a character. Flaws are what define a character better, but seeing how Scarlet was perfect, made her unlikeable. But once we got into her base, and saw the dragon, I believe that was Anet’s way of trying to say “yeah, scarlet is bad, but the worse is yet to come.” But we focused more on the scarlet than the one in the shadows.
And lets face it, scarlet and the dragon have chosen the best time TO attack. Our forces and supply lines are stretched and cleaning up in Orr. LA being reconstructed, Captain’s council a bunch of idiots, Mia free, and we are already trying to recover from throwing everything we had at Scarlet just to try and stop her.
Heck, while this dragon was attacking and sending its forces at us, if I were the flame legion, I’d be trying to resurrect the titans or heading down to the Ring of Fire and maybe find a new ‘god’ to awaken….

But seeing the sanctum hit? I really feel hurt. I always loved the atmosphere (no pun intended) there.
The whole event scale feature is the problem. It discourages players from participating, or causes players to exclude other players (no more to boss x or it up scales and we fail).
So maybe having the dead not count towards scaling would be a start, but this is more of a mechanic issue than just someone dead.
If they promote it as they are now, then its ‘hype’ and ‘over promotion’.
If they say nothing, then its ‘a failure’, ‘wash’, ‘waste of resources’.

Eh, this is a step in the right direction, but now what should’ve been posted about first.
We want to hear about new areas, new weapons, races, professions, anything in that range first. This should’ve been middle or near end announcement.
Well, we are still taking damage despite if any magic there is protecting us. Even so, the magic would have to be concentrated more in the largely open areas to make sure you don’t get skewered. Imagine the defense of the armor improving even moreso by the magic overall if not concentrated in one area.
We also still take damage despite any metal there to protect us. It’s more likely that the magic is always spread out and the metal is reinforcing it somehow.
Also, despite everything said, Kasmeer implied she went through the Tower of Nightmares without any clothing at all (wearing nothing but illusions). It’s questionable how much they actually need any form of armor for defense.

As humans, we tend to rationalize things by what general knowledge we have. Since really, there are no articles or books or ways to explain how gw2 magic works, I would have to rely on my DND idea (which shouldn’t be too far off since mmo RPGs are based on the DND system) and say her illusion spell provides a massive bonus to deflection AC.
Course then, I am applying a different rules and game mechanics to a different game and world where we don’t know exactly how such mechanics work. Course, I do this because as a person, its how I rationalize and try to understand something that is different and unknown.
So, in a way, I am wrong to say that a skimpy armor piece doesn’t provide protection, as I do not know the full understanding of how magic works in tyria. But the other way is, I am right since using what I know and common sense, skimpy armor should barely provide any protection at all.
The first point he makes is valid though. We can’t pick and choose which aspects of the game we want to be ‘realistic’ while ignoring others.
Which is why I believe the designers simply used the prevailing standards of fantasy armour as a guide: Heavy armours generally covering more skin than light.
It is, it just annoys me when people play this “woman=/=war” card.

Why can’t it just be about making available as many choices and options for people to dress their characters how they see fit so they can enjoy themselves? Does the solution have to involve intolerance?

I wouldn’t put too much faith in them. At this point, I will be pleasantly surprised if it is better than Season 1, but I expect much more of the same. I’ll just fall back on the library of steam games I’ve picked up, but never got around to playing.
And then summer comes and that library grows….
The report part made me chuckle a bit. WoW tried to be an esport, and was removed. And it made sense as you saw the same team comp over and over at the top. It was stale and boring. Gw2, though a bit more balanced as with more stat restrictions at least (though not perfect), will still fail as well as again, same classes, same specs. Where as MOBAs like LoL have MANY champs now to fill each roll, it gives a different play style each game. There would have to be a major class rework for that to even work in gw2, something you know won’t happen.
So please, give up on gw2 report, it’ll save you from the pain later.
Don’t forget how the choices you made never had an impact, as the second option was always completed successfully.
Also, trahearne pulling spells out his kitten for ‘just such occassions’ and becoming some uber NPC that makes you wonder ‘why am I hear again?’

Everyone seems to be missing the underlying reason behind this post and other well thought out complaint posts.
People don’t want to quit playing GW2.
They post in hopes of changing the games direction/adding what would make the game have more value for their time.
Now, at the end of the day, it’s still just a game – but is what you’re doing in GW2 today, worth you coming back tomorrow to play again?
I ‘quit’ Rift a few months after its first release. Now I’m playing it again since its free. So while someone can say they ‘quit’ gw2, unless I see a video of them deleting all their characters, then they plan on coming back at some point. Until then, its not quitting, its ‘taking a break’.
Maybe it’s just me, but the particle is overwhelming. All I see is a giant mess of mashed polygons that make it indecipherable to tell what is actually going in there. It is like we’re all attacking one big giant ball of scramble light spectrum’s. Just my 2 cents worth.
I’m using “best performance” settings. And I must say..no particle effects…..

anet should’ve learned from the knights. if you dont FORCE people to split, they won’t.They need to do the same thing, colour buffs (or something) that allows you to fight said boss, and limit the number of people who can get that buff.
Another thing, ALOT of people have mapchat off, and it can be crucial to events like this, anet needs to force that on if people are in the vicinity of these events.
I agree. Marionette did it right with having to divide the zerg to defend five lanes, and the debuff. But the mini ones and now the boss marathon don’t force you, its optional, which doesn’t work, everyone zergs to ones boss.
And I don’t know what’s worse, the guy who thought of the idea to charge money to start an event, or the leader who approved it. Anet, take a page from Jon stewart, and hire a guy to sit at the table to raise his hand and say ‘that sounds like a bad idea’.

Which vendor is it? I looked at the ones at the ship, and only saw the flower, dragon horns, etc. Is it a random drop from the boxes?
They are highly secretive on developments. for two reasons;
1) They simply do not want to spoil upcoming content
2) The moment they say what they are working on, people take it as absolute 100% gospel that can’t be deviated on. Should the devs make changes or scrap an idea, many in the community accuse them of failing in their promises.Whilst many (myself included) feel like yourself, these are the reasons stated in various threads over the last year from devs as to why they don’t reveal much until it is ready for release.
oh and as Stormcrow mentions below; The China release is understandably taking up most of their time in May.

If you look at the weapons the chart make, or what the Pact has, wvw is very low tech except for the golems. They get massive cannons and tanks, and even subs, we get trebs and station catas….
People want mounts simply to make overland travel faster.
Frankly, I’d prefer tanks, so guilds and parties can travel in style. Tanks definitely need to be added to WvW, with Charr architecture and bases to churn them out and help with tearing down fortresses. Looking at WvW maps, I’m asking “What century is this?! Trebuchets, catapults, and castles? Get your tails in gear, Iron Legion!”
Maybe Charrpers (Charr choppers/motorcycles). With forward-mounted guns. And maybe a chain to whack people in melee. ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
God such a good point. The only advanced thing in wvw are the golems. You go to the chart city and they have massive turrets, motorcycle tanks, etc. But allllll that goes to the pact and traehearne.
And the wvw people get the leftovers of low tech.
That annoys you? Run through snow, look at your paw prints.

I like joining these groups with my 11k ap, then calling then scrubs for not even being near me.
Its horrible judgment as time goes on, ap will continue to add up, causing higher qualifications. Not to mention probably half of everyone’s ap is from salvaging.
Call me crazy, but I do believe some info about the next update, even if it’s just “hey, we’ll give you a potato in 4 weeks” would calm down the people impatience… such is the gw2 community hunger.
While we’d love to give you a time and date of when we’re sending out the potato, remember that during the development process we may discover that a baked potato would be even better. So instead of getting the potato of your dreams you end up with something completely unexpected.
It often happens that a mashed potato with gravy is even better still, unfortunately gravy requires more dev time. So we end up shipping a mashed potato without gravy to meet our promise of ship time or we push back the time and date of when we are shipping again and again. By addons if you mean the ones that change the layout, collect Ah data, then OK.
But if your are talking about addons like DBM, or dot timers, or buff timers, then no. You can go ahead and ask for harder content all you want, but you have a program telling you how to play the whole time. When to press a button, shouting a warning at you before e a boss does his major mechanic, those addons dumb the game down and itself. You have a hand guiding you through the encounters.
Wildstar has a horrible tutorial area for both factions. They are boring. What does gw2 do? Through you into the middle of a battle, shoves a weapon into your hand and says ‘see those bad guys? Kill em!’.
Wildstar I’m filling out a questionnaire asking how much i drink then shoving a prop item into my hand, telling me to interrogate some people then press a button.
Yeah, that’s dominion, and exile is the same with the whole ‘help me find my wife!’ walk five feet we’ve found her! Press a button!

Sorry I touched a nerve here and hurt you. I could go on with the tutorial area, being forced into lore quests, press more buttons, burn down hologram trees….that stuff.
But let’s go into starter zone areas. Oh there’s a mob near a resource! I’ll just kill it….and someone took it while I was fighting. No matter, questing I need to kill those lizards and free captives….in which someone is freeing the captive while I kill the guy….

at how is that exactly different from GW2 save the missing exclamation and question marks? Help farmer X is usually nothing more than a differently worded kill 15 spiders or collect 10 apples. And it kinda supports my original perception that you did not realize there is a kill sharing mechanic just like in GW2.
Nothing in my post complained about kill stealing, or mob tagging. I understand they go by a system that xp and you earn from killing a mob based on percentage of damage you did to said mob fills up your quest meter like the hearts in gw2.

Living world- Gravity change on moon cycle, water current, nodes that can attack you, etc..

Skins- No limitations on visual appearances ie: Heavy armor wearer can use the appearance of light armor.
No Living story
Double jump, sprint, dodge, & trinity
Real purpose to guilds.
Cons
Lots of AOE in combat, can feel messy at times largscale
Level 1-15 very tedious and lame (greatly improves later)
Housing- Useless currency sink, place for rested XP, could have been better implemented. Should have been out in the world like AA.
Not enough classes, Datamined early stages of the game show the class Techshaman/Dark sorcerer class, probably saved for later xpacs.
Race class limitations due to time, later plans to open all race class combos.
Optimization- Ongoing process of course, and the issue of beta client (information gathering) making things sluggish atm.

Remember, addons are a double edge sword. That challenging content will eventually not be challenging, both because people will learn the starts, as well as a flashing noise telling them to be ready for an attack (run away Lil girl, run away…).
Also, apparently already you need an ad on to sell junk…unless it was very well hidden.
