So if you bet money on your torch 4 hitting, than you’re betting money on the wrong thing. Now I know its supposed to be easily avoided. I get that. But here’s a list of things that should not be happening
1. People jumping over my fireball<- I swear to Balthazar this has happened numerous times
2. My fireball deciding to follow the ground, go down vertically, and then run into a wall. Instead it should just get lobbed through the air at my opponent across whatever gap is in between us
3. Be dodged by people who decided to SLIGHTLY change their direction and or stop moving because they decided to plant themselves for an attack skill. Or people who just momentarily took their finger off the forward key to hit a skill button.

That is to say people dodging ON ACCIDENT. This actually happens almost as much as people dodging on purpose
4. My fireball missing downed or point blank opponents.
It should be dodged by
1. People dodging
2. People who see it coming and run in the opposite direction that they were running.
This can be achieved by
1. Increasing its attack radius and
2. Having it fire like any other projectile
3. Increasing its velocity
These buffs can be balanced by nerfing it’s damage. Really its OK. We wont notice. I don’t even know how much damage it does since it never hits anything. Ok It hits stuff some of the time. But I don’t feel comfortable saying most of the time.
That man is a credit to our Profession. And probably the only guy with shield
It just wierds me out that retreat has a higher CD. srsly
How about we give 1h sword its own trait and then work from there?

Healers will become popular when you have to be super kitten good to go glass cannon. Like those people that solo Arah. THOSE should be the only people running glass cannon without worrying. Content should be hard enough that everybody else tosses in a bit of toughness and Vitality, or instead brings a healer and CC specialist along for the ride.
P.S. Telegraphed attacks and mechanics that’s heavily support DPS or put ridiculous focus on dodging (I’m looking at you Lupi) are the culprit. Dodging should be as important in pve as it is in pvp. Not the be all end all

Simply increasing attack frequency and forcing players to flank and trade out agro would really take care of half of this. A dedicated healer shouldn’t be necessary. It should however be highly welcome in any party
If this is an issue now I imagine it’ll only get worse as rifle specializations appear and more classes run into this.
Counterplay? Yeah I guess dodging would work…… Oh and Judges Intervention told me he’ll be seeing you next match.
Hire people? They have a whole kitten player base complaining about this stuff 24/7. Give us a test arena and a feedback form.
Personally I would post more stuff on the forums but it’s honestly discouraging due to the mass flood of threads they’re getting hit with already. I feel crazy asking about guardian shield when we’re busy incinerating everything that can breath.

Right Handed Strength is currently the way it is because scepter doesn’t have a symbol yet its trait is in the Zeal line. It’s their way of trying to give it some love but it just ends up being a backhanded insult to the 1h sword

The Trait
Retribution- A very nice trait that gives increased damage when you have retaliation.
The Issue
It does not match with any of the grandmaster traits. Nobody is going to take damage over 20% burn duration and then pick Amplified Wrath. Nobody is going to take it over signet of wrath and then take Perfect Inscriptions. Nobody is going to take it with Radiant Retaliation because one is a condi based buff and the other is power based.
Solution-Move this trait to the Zeal line.
The Trait
Blinding Jeopardy- Apply vuln upon blinding or immobilizing the enemy
The issue
It is in zeal line when it naturally synergizes with radiance. Zeal line has neither traits for immobilize or blind. Radiance line has both. 2/3 1h weapons would benefit from this trait. They are also the weapons that do not use symbol (scepter and sword). Also Vulnerability now applies to conditions as well. Radiance is a hybrid line for crits and condi. A trait that gives damage boost to condi and power based moves seems like it should belong here.
The Solution
Switch it to Radiance line.
Medi guard here. Don’t nerf us just yet. Going melee without any kinda ports or stealth is kinda suicide right now. Wait till the burn is fixed and THEN if we’re still bad do something about us
That has got to be so aggravating. I’m all for you there. Especially with these guild arenas coming up which I think will technically be pve. Y’all deserve to have something as important as that not change around on you.
Personal feelings on stealth: Reveal shouldn’t even exist baseline. It should be an effect of different moves/traits but not baseline. It was only put in as a way to nerf stealth but lo and behold every thief has built around it anyways. Who cares about 4s of reveal if you’ve already downed the person? Do rangers even care about reveal when it comes to their lb? How many times have random stealths→reveals in wvw messed up a theif who then needed to stealth up a couple seconds later. It makes no sense and it’s a band aid on a mechanic that needs some fine surgery. We need more things that yank thieves outa stealth and less things that keep them that way.
Yes we need softer counters to stealth. We don’t need 1 move that reveals them for a few seconds so we can super burst them. We need CC to be allowed to knock them out of stealth repeatedly.
And yes the rest of thiefs defense mechanics would have to be tweeked to compensate.
Until the pvp stat system is fixed your bets bet is to roll celestial. Until the games entire balance is fixed your best bet is to roll guardian (Trololololol)
Actually it doesn’t have kitten to do with any of that. You see its a chronological issue. Historically speaking your character isn’t back in queensdale, fighting the centaur menace. They already DID that. Back BEFORE you had the glider. New LA? Please, why are you going to go into the heart of the maguuma jungle, grab a glider, and then leave YOUR DIEING COMRADS to fly around LA. SRSLY

Ive taught at least 20 people how to PvP. Please show me what mythical land you live in that the average player can tell you what build for their class has the highest DPS, because I have 3k hours on my guard and I STILL couldn’t say which weapons best for that. On another note Having 9 different professions that can play 10 different roles each and pick from 20 amulets with 15 different weapons doesn’t seem to be an approach made to cater to “the barest of minimum” builds. Now all those numbers I just posted were 100% kitten (USDA approved) but I think you get my point.
In all seriousness. Did you change the trait in your PVP setup, or your PVE?

I’ve been reading through all the threads every few hours (Honestly who hasn’t?) and there’s one thing I keep seeing. The word Meta.
Dear People,
The reason we are going through ALL this change and ALL these bugs and ALL this kitten hitting the fan right now (sorry kittens) is because having 2 or 3 builds to play is bullkitten(which I think is technically a Charr). If you see somebody complaining about how their build is not working right, offer some variations to get them back to where they were before. Or offer suggestions on what in the current system would need to be changed to make them viable again.
HOWEVER. If you at any point feel the need to tell them to change to a different spec and “learn the new meta” than please. I beg you. DON’T
These changes are not about a new Meta. These changes are about making the system less eccentric and about opening options to players that were not there before.
These changes are happening because whenever I would teach a guildmate to play PvP I wouldn’t tell them about dodging or cool downs or even boons and conditions. I would tell them a x/x/x/x/x and what weps/runes/sigils to use because that was always the quicker way to power them up. Because our system was so complicated that people were fighting at 60% power just because they took traits that sounded nice instead of the ones that were Meta.
Or goal here is not to lose builds. Its to make more viable…….
And I for one welcome our new Mesmer overlords.

Power medi is dead. The current zerker stats do not support our primary defense mechanic (our healing).
I am disappointed with the build diversity all classes have right now. You are either bunker or super glass cannon. Can’t really go inbetween

I make this thread in the interest of our newly birthed condition based brethren. I would like to see them balanced before they get ahem “BALANCED”.
It has been brought to my attention that us guardians are now about to do enough burn damage to…well…probably solo the next dragon.
Here’s why this happens
+We get our base condition damage
+We get duration modifiers from sigil, rune set, and probably a torch trait
^Since burn now stacks in intensity and we apply it FREQUENTLY its basically a damage buff
+We get a damage modifier(Amplified Wrath)
+We get a modifier to how often we can apply our VoJ burn in the virtues line
Sooo 1×1.75×1.15x whatever the Virtue traits are worth
We’re looking at over 2x regular damage. That’s a bit more what Berserkers get to their basic attacks when they take precision and ferocity. And these guys are grabbing vitality and toughness on top of it. Yikes
On side note make something to compete with Permeating Wrath. Until Dragonhunter is released I don’t see a single reason that a condi guard would NOT take virtue line
Edit: Scratch that. Nerf permeating wrath. Nerf it right in the face.
The most important thing to do is to decrease the kinds of multipliers we have. If we get more ways of applications in our traits. Keep it that way. If we get more duration. Keep it that way but DON’T CROSS THE STREAMS. Have one of the multipliers (application,duration,damage % buff) our basic one (probably application since that’s the way its always been) and then for balances sake have the others dependent on something else so we can’t just stack everything like crazy.
Example: That +20% duration on torch? Only have that apply to torch moves. I don’t need +20% damage on all of my fire. That is overkill
Amplified Wrath- I personally don’t like the way this trait works but I believe it was properly balanced its just the duration and stuff that making condi damage crazy
Suggestion- Just take out condi duration for damaging conditions.
Disclaimer- I’m not saying condi guard OP. I’m saying that the current system is looking HIGHLY abusable

P.S. Marauders amulet is only a partial fix. I would use it but it still don’t give me the toughness I had from before and puts me at a disadvantage in the long run. Otherwise I’d shut my mouth, grab that thing, and get back to 1 shotting thieves

Condition duration. Before it was only a worry for people who used bleed or torment or confusion. Now its an issue for people who use burn. Before I could increase my burn duration KNOWING it would increase my damage because those odds and ends would add up to a full tick. Now they don’t. That 20% duration I get from the torch trait? It only increases the damage of half of my abilities. This needs some kind of fixing/balancing. If it wasn’t meant to always increase the damage that’s one thing but it feels like a leftover misfunction of improperly used mathmatics.
Why isn’t anybody talking about how OP Guardian is?….oh wait. I forgot this talk about burn damage applies to us now

P.P.S. You all have my condolences about this new patch. It is really stupid easy to kill thieves right now.
So for all the people telling others to “adapt” yeah its possible. I play a medi guard. Instead of using the new berserk amulet I just tossed on celestial. It feels SIMILAR to the old play style(Because everybody is squishier). It however is an abomination of a stat combination and not something I ever want to use regularly. I mean Balthazar forbid its actually an effective build and not just me playing great. We might end up with celestial medi guards being the new meta. Is that REALLY what you want? As if the engineers and the elementalists weren’t enough.
My biggest gripe however is that by using it I am now a CELESTIAL guardian and not a BERSERK guardian. It’s completely different. It is unfortunately more effective than the zerker amulet because the passive defense stats (which got lost for me in the patch) complement the healing, and keep you from being turned into a bowl of salsa in 2 seconds when you run into the fight.(Since you know I don’t have a longbow or anything fancy like that)
This substitute will probably be viable for a lot of builds now that conditions got reworked. For those that are going to tell me to L2P. Ya know what? Fine I’m an noob. Look forward to swarms of newbies playing celestial stats. They’ll all have “adapted”.
Edit- Who am I kidding? All the newbies are gonna grab the glassiest ranged unit they can. This is gonna feel like playing a game of halo once all the new players come in for the expansion pack. Just run around the corner and BOOM first guy to press the button lives.
Any build that uses more hard defenses like invisibility, CC, or invuln is in a GREAT spot right now. Anybody that uses blinds blocks and heals is screwed(Especially the heals). So yeah change pvp. Give us our defensive stats back. Let the super backstabbers keep their crazy zerker amulets but give the rest of us our stats back.
People are crying about the “new meta” because its screwed up half the builds in the game. THATS why it needs fixing. not because “Q.Q we can’t dodge”. No we are at a distinct disadvantage now and we need to get this stuff balanced out again.
Power 1200. Precision 900. Ferocity 900. And then take 100 out of each of those and give me my 300 toughness back

Sooo Merciful intervention. The least used Meditation. Lets take a quick look at it
Does about 2k healing to allies. 40s CD when traited
Now lets look at Judges Intervention
Does atleast 1.3k burn (without condi damage) and about 300 damage. And breaks stuns. On a 36s CD. Also its attack radius is higher than MI’s healing radius.
Now I’m not saying these two moves HAVE to be equal, but lets look at the facts here
-Guardians LOOOOVE Judges Intervention
-Guardians don’t love Merciful Intervention. Heck I’ve tried using it myself. I WANT to use it, but it just feels like I’m nerfing myself
And most importantly
-This skill does not complete its intended purpose. It’s supposed to be an INTERVENTION. To drop in and stop what’s being done and change the course of whats about to happen. Unless they are REALLY on top of it, 2k hp isn’t going to save a zerk, or yourself. It’s probably going to delay your fate for a second longer (IF THAT with the new burst meta). Also the defensive mechanic for this move is a HEAL. The people who benefit most from heals are Tanks. Tanks are not the ones who need saving. Its the squishy eles and such. And 2k hp does not go a long ways for them.
Fun fact- If your traited for meditations, using this move will actualy give your ally fury. This move actually has more of an offensive buff than a defensive one.
Suggestion- Add .5s invuln time. Enough time for human reflexes to realize “Hey I’m not dead yet, I should turn around and do something” and have your ally continue fighting. This will also prevent the guardian from taking a DPS BURST TO THE FACE for trying to swoop in and save his ally. As of right now the best way to use this move is mid DPS burst and jump in and slam the enemy to the ground. If I wanted to do that I would just use another Judges Intervention (I know I can only use one but just for the sake of arguement)
Actually from my experience protection is kinda the godboon right now because its the only way to keep you from getting burst down from 100% to 0%. Vigor got nerfed this patch so thats not a suprise. And as far as condi…thats gona take awhile to get balanced.
I love PvP and I’m taking a break while the majority of this gets sorted out

kdaddy- I didn’t ask for high risk high reward. I did not ask for my build to be heavily disbalanced. I did not ask for THE MAJOR DEFENSE MECHANIC OF MY BUILD (healing) to get nerfed in the face by being forced to toss out my toughness and have everybody around me be extra zerky.
It is an issue. It needs to be fixed. Bruiser type builds are highly difficult to do right now because of the displacement of stats. Melee builds are twice as hard to zerk because getting within damaging range is a death sentence.
Also, your running a warrior, with the highest HP pool, highest toughness, and DEFENSIVE utilities and you say you last a LITTLE bit. THAT is exactly whats wrong right there.
People are crying because pvp is messed up right now. Pointing the finger at people and telling them to change their build is wrong. We would change our build -If We Had Access To More Stat Options-

So I’m just gonna do my own little Q.Q thread here about the new stat (dis)balancing in pvp. Everybody being super zerks has really messed things up. Now the protection boon feels like it’s worth twice as much as it was before. People are bursting me with hammers. I sneeze and theives go down and I don’t even feel good about it. Things are messed up. People don’t bother stomping anymore. They just hit me and I die. I die before my downed heal skill comes off cooldown.
I’m a meditation guardian. I’m used to having 300 toughness. As a matter of fact my BUILD was BALANCED by the great creators around that assumption. An inherant part of my playstyle is the fact that I get heals, and heals don’t mean anything without some toughness to back them up.
Anet. PLEASE. Give us something here so we can balance our numbers out a little. I know your all frantically scrambling over your calculators already and that this is gona be a whole long balancing process. But right now, some little add on option to the amulets to swap out some of the stats would be AMAZING.
Yeah you don’t gotta buy any new recipes. I only have zerker gear and I could convert it to clerics just by buying the clerics exotic insignia
Also, you cant turn it into any gear type that doesn’t already have an ascended recipe. Like givers.
