DragonHunter is about a different kind of support. Vuln, CC, Ya know stuff that makes it easier for frontline zerkers to murder things. It is definitly NOT a spec your gona wana take if your a hard healer/defense booner

Did you miss the part where you lose none of that? if you trait DragonHunter and Virtue line you STILL get that from both. Now there might be abit of a question as to how the major and grandmaster traits will interact but those basic boons will activate just fine

P.S. Don’t touch my fire spear, its not even out yet and your trying to touch it. Bad lorde bad

My only beef with the name is that its more “hunter” than “dragon hunter”. that bow skin is just about the only part of it that’s dragon related from what i’ve seen. Then again with bosses coming up like the wyvern the name might be spot on

You know how a shout warrior uses shouts for their 789 slots? The way things are going now, that’s soon going to be 67890 and you’ll never see one with signet of rage. Same way signet warriors will always use healing signet, and signet guardian will always use signet of resolve. Shout builds are probably only going to use shout elite and heal skills. Same with the other skill types. As of right now you would be crazy to choose skills from three different categories, I’m afraid that soon the game balance will be set that you would be crazy to pick anything but all signets, or all shouts, or all traps.

Upcoming trait and skill changes, wooo~
Ok, now that I’ve confirmed that I love what the devs are doing I’m going to get to my complaining.
Utility skills have traits. They always have. Choosing skills to go along with your traits is kinda necessary to not be a nerfed build. Healing and Elite skills are being forced into utility categorizations. Who’s going to pick one skill when they can get all these hyped up traits for another? It’s an impossible conundrum. If one skill is so strong that you would use it as opposed to the one your traited for, than 99% of the time people are going to take the build that supports that skill instead. As of right now there are healing skills and elite skills that aren’t in utility catagories. This is going to quickly change from what I’ve seen. We need a reason to still keep those skills that aren’t in the same skillset.

Traits that pertain to utility types need to be toned down abit (hint: as a Medi guard I have never felt the need to give fury to my entire team) , and traits that affect specific effects from skills (such as conditions, boons, etc etc) need to get a double look to make sure they’re effective enough that choosing for example: judges intervention, purging flames, and tome of wrath, is a reasonable combo because u can buff the burning of all of them. From what I saw of the traits that may be possible. However I don’t think I saw anything that would give you a reason to take CC skills in combination like sanctuary, spirit hammer, and signet of wrath or bane signet.(not that anybody ever WOULD take those in combination because no stun breaks but I think you get my point). As of right now I know alot of meditation guardians take shelter over Litany of wrath. If shelter gets changed to a specific utility type its going to get nerfed to balance it out when its effected by that types traits. Meditation guardians will no longer be choosing between two healing skills, they only feasible choice will be Litany of Wrath

Radiant retaliation won’t be used until 1. it gives a secondary effect or 2. it uses both power AND condi damage. I realize that can be a problem with might but there are ways around that (mathmatical ways). Also yeah its placement is kinda awkward because u cant use that light aura with it.

in Guardian

we CAN burst. Knowing when to and when not to is basicly what makes a good medi guard. I don’t wana hear any talk about nerfs tho because we don’t even really get might stacks. Radiance line. Please don't nerf me bro.

Silhouette.5631

Dear Developers,

Right now I’m playing GS/swordXtorch + meditations. It’s great fun, however I’m taking traits from all 5 lines, and with the new system I’m going to have to rely on radiance line for most of my damage. (R.I.P fiery wrath but I don’t wanna grab all that symbol stuff with you.)

Plans are to make right handed strength to be changed to the go to sword trait. Great! I’m going to love having a powerful sword trait. I would not love however to be punished for using a sword/GS combo. Its hard enough with only having symbols on half my weapons(and feeling silly if I take zeal), please don’t make me feel nerfed any more for using these two weapons together. Make it a sword only trait, and take out the buff to other one handed weapons. Right now its the only weapon trait that affects things other than itself. That would be fine if it wasn’t the only one but it is and from what I can see right now I would be gimping myself if I didn’t go scepter/sword.

Also I’m finally getting a cool torch trait I’ll be using (praise Balthazar!) however I’m going to have to choose between that and a basic dps buff when using retaliation. I -always- have retaliation on, this is gonna hurt me(You know, on the inside). The big issue here feels like its making me pick between setting things on fire and going offensive with my retaliation up. As it is right now these things go hand in hand for me. They have always gone hand in hand for guardian. Set them on fire, pop my retaliation, go to town with a blade big or small. If this choice has to be forced for balance reasons, I understand that, but right now conceptually it feels weird how a person is being forced to choose between raw damage output/realiation and burn capability when so many other traits are made to fuse these things into a hybrid.

Also, nerf that third minor trait. That’s to much crit.

P.S. It’s going to be nice only having to use 3 trait lines for what I want. Thanks ahead of time for the update.

Guardian is Warrior 2.0?

Nah Guardians are still way different from Warrior. Our medi build is probably the most similar thing and its a lot slipperier than warriors utilities are. Medi build is also currently abit op, but it doesn’t have a real role in the current pvp meta (otherwise we’d be EVERYWHERE). also don’t listen to these people, medi guard is terrifying. I’m not telling you to learn to play, but if your not stealthed and you get sniped. I’m Sorry. I play a guardian, I use judges intervention to gank lighter classes all the time. That’s definitely a drawback of thief, and the upside is that your class is supposed to be able to use its speed and stealth to be able to disengage a fight whenever you want. Also don’t listen to all the “l2p” dorks around here. Half of them are just regurgitating “meta” stuff they’ve read and can’t actually pvp. If you feel your class is specifically weak in a certain area your probably right. pay attention to it. Learn about it. Do what you can to overcome it. And wait for the next balance patch

Licking my wounds

Silhouette.5631

1. Stabbing a person in the face while they are down is common sense not a mistake, it works for every other class, it -needs- to work for ranger. Downed stills are for stalling for time while a buddy comes to heal you, not to completely mitigate another players DPS because your healing 15% of your hp a second. The way to counter this skill should be either to CC the pet or nuke it but unfortunately pets are balanced unlike players to have no active defence and just a big hp pool so they don’t suffer from the same danger that players do while standing still to revive somebody. This is obviously a problem when i got fury and might stacks on and this critter isn’t going down, and the rangers hp pool aint going down either. Also from what I’ve heard you can knock them back and they’ll just get right back up and go to healing
2. Arron, please use the forums for -constructive- criticism

[sugg] dailies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Silhouette.5631

Silhouette.5631

Updating the dailies to be more quest like would be amazing…
Pros:
More chances to implement npc dialogue. Could lead to learning some more about these guys than “Hi, my name is guard, I guard stuff” (Not that all the npcs are like this, far from it, but you know what im talkin about)

Make the word seem less cycleish. GW2 is far from stagnant, but after you play for awhile you realize everybody is in this creepy pattern of advancing forward and falling back shiver even the people in orr depsite the fact that you’ve killed zaitan

Cons
Obviously this would take time and development, which Anet seems to be crunched on already (because they’ve decided to fill their plates with such big challanges)

If a quest included something like “Go kill this boss” EVERYBODY would be there waiting for it, now i’m not sure if this would be a good or bad thing honestly, could be fun for the community, or could lead to some really unsatisfying bossfights.

Not sure if anybody’s said anything about this skill before, that wouldn’t surprise me because most people don’t notice it, because most people don’t use it. Lemme break it down real quick for you. 20s cd, give allies 5s aegis when you block, 360 raduis

1. Its radius is crap. its double that of a symbol and if you compare it to another grandmaster buffing trait like Phalanx Strength that’s a 240 radius difference. The reduction in distance is meant to nerf it which would be ok IF (onto the next one)

2. it has 20s CD. This is ridiculous, an extra aegis for your team every 20 seconds, commooooooon is that REALLY going to stand up to the 25 might stacks the other team has from their warrior spewing might all over the place? I’m pretty sure a single aoe would take out all that aegis, and then some, heck a GUARDIANS SYMBOL would take care of that grandmaster trait on its first pulse, and its got a heck of a shorter CD than 20s
-Reduce the CD-(Try 5 seconds).

V Here’s the big issue.
3. For people who read the wiki entry and actually paid attention, here’s why its balanced the way that it is. It has no limit on the number of people it can effect. No ally cap. It is made specifically for zergs, which means we will never see it in dungeons or pvp. That’s not ok, there should not be a trait made specifically for wvw, because then that means EVERYBODY should be running it to be optimized, and that leads to sad times for the other builds.

They fix this trait, we might actually see Aegis based builds in pvp, till then, NOPE

Why ANet/NCSoft doesn't care (re-post)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Silhouette.5631

Silhouette.5631

I’m saying this out of concern for the game community. Half the reason of playing is always the other players. When players leave they leave in chunks. I literally thought I was gonna lose half the guild i played with when (insert other MMO here) came out, Thank god it boned, all but one of us are still here, -this time-. But we lost a person, one guy who enjoyed PvP as a ranger, both things which at the time needed some serious love, and that was one guy out of about 30 active players. I’m not sure how that percentage reflects the total player base, I hope it doesn’t. But when this game came out it advertised graphics, WvW, Pvp, all sorts of gameplay features other games didn’t have, quality of life kidna things, we didn’t come here for the grind. That may be what gives us something to do but its not what keeps us from getting yanked over to other games -just like how Anet got us to come here-

I think they are letting the majority rule their decisions, and i think that’s a HORRIBLE idea. Speaking as one of the majority, I always go after the latest shiniest thing, that shiny thing is always game play. If I see another game with better gameplay in a certain area, like oooh I dont know (EDIT not gona drop another games name thats not cool) with its apparent -shipbuilding and sandbox gameplay-, I’m tempted to go over there and check it out, don’t get me wrong, I’m not gonna leave gw2 but my time will slowly start to get sucked off to other games that advance in certain areas while gw2 is still…giving people something to grind over to keep people here….yup.

And yet they admitted that PvP attendance jumped 40% with the simple addition of pve rewards in it, oh and a new map, but that’s not even part of the normal rotation. Soooo yeah I think listening to players paid off there, I mean analytics cant show you what players want when -they aren’t doing it because it currently isn’t there-. It will show you what way to best perpetuate the current data. We keep doing LS kuz they keep dishing out LS. We keep grinding kuz we keep getting stuff to grind for. WvW attendance is down because jee whens the last time it got some love? The meta there has been the same since I started playing, Its been probably half a year I think since they admitted they wanted it to be less zergy. And the answer is apparently multicolored tags that are going to cost players more than they have. I’m sorry I didn’t realize our inability to read was what was preventing us from splitting up into different groups and having interesting tactical battles

They can analyze all they want, its most likely not going to match up to the combined perception of a fanbase of players who spend hours on the game every week.

Well alteast we know they’re working on precur- wait whats that? That’s out? Well crap…guys I have no idea what Anet’s up to, lemme know when you figure it out.

Edit: Don’t get me wrong, I like most the content Anet dishes out, and I get that they always try to improve on it from last time, but isn’t it kinda counter productive to leave something in the dust when players still want it?
