To be honest, I love new game modes. Courtyard seems like a great map for team fights when they’re not one-sided…
Back in the day (I’m talking the spring/summer of 2013) my guild used to organise big mock fights. We would go to pvp with 10 people.
Then we would split our group into 2 teams and we would do Death Matches. We made sure to make the two groups about as strong as eachother. For example if we had 2 mesmers one went to each team. The fights were amazing, cause they weren’t zerg zerg zerg, we actually tried to out-strategize our fellow guild mates and win as a team.
Anyways, courtyard seems like the perfect death match map, BUT you should encourage strategy. For example if you got turret engi aoeing the middle, players should not be jumping straight in there and get zerged down by 5 each time… instead they should play together (WAVE RESPAWNS) and try to lure out to fight at other locations than the middle.
Interesting idea, i’m up for this.

I can’t see any problem with letting us know after each match: “OMG YOU ROCKED” or “NEXT TIME YOU’LL DO EVEN BETTER”. xD

Jokes aside: no not a lot of new things. You might enjoy the living story, but apart from that… more skins in gem store I guess.

Low tiers can be a lot of fun to fight on, if you manage to get into roaming.
I like having low population on my wvw… less zergs, less lagg.
On Fissure of Woe, most people roam. I have seen about everything possible…
Guardian:
- Meditations very frequent and strong
- Shout builds still running for the group support
- Zero consecration guardians in the last 2 months
Warrior:
- Condi bunker one of the strongest builds
- Also the GS “Usain Bolt” still popular
- Stunlock build paired with GS-Axe/shield
Elementalist:
- Mostly d/d eles running celestial builds
- Most of the other builds are not very viable
- Couple of staff bunkers
Thief:
- Either condi running p/d and d/d
- Either high stealth build using s/d, d/p, d/d
Mesmer:
- Blackwater build for those who are familiar (PU, condi build)
- Shatter mesmers
Engineer:
- More CC engineers than used to be, rifles!
- Standard condi build still up
- A couple of healing-focused engis around too
Ranger:
- Tanky s/t – a/d
- PEWPEW longbow spammer
- Condi stacker
Necromancer (not my expertise at all: can’t really comment)

I just watched that video… what a bunch of bad players. The condi warrior must be the worst I ever saw (as the others said… clicker, keyboard turning, autotarget – none of the good players do any of that) and the guy fighting him is running signet build without any condi removals… waaaw.
On my dire condi warrior I can take on 3 or more guys depending on their build/skill and I don’t even use food buffs + corruption stack.

I have encountered this as well, curiously also with a ranger. Two times in the past week a ranger disappeared just before I stomped him. Got no loot for him. Not that it bothers me that much cause loot in wvw is trash, but you should place a 30 second delay on people logging out/closing client in wvw…
Well… this says nothing about warriors… at all.
Yesterday evening we went with 3 roamers of – ele, thief and guardian – and decided to go yolo and mess with Blacktide (as usual). We capped a camp close to their EB spawn and defended it for 20 minutes. The battle raged on non-stop and we killed every single blacktide that came at us (20+ kills). Blacktide kept getting more people to attack our camp and we just wiped the floor with them. This just as an example that this kind of overkill is possible with any class, if you got experienced and skilled fighters.
If you’re curious, of course we had a lot of condi cleansing and heals, but that’s basically a must if you roam. I ran meditation guardian hybrid. The ele ran celestial d/d. Our thief ran the usual d/p build.
I tried running d/d zerk ele (full zerk / 0-0-4-4-6)but it’s rather hard when you’re soloing… especially when facing heavy damage specs, the elementalist will go down in seconds, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
I agree: just remove this crap. They’re not good for anything and they just make the game that little bit less fun. Before siege disablers, we did fine building arrowcarts, trebs or ballistas to counter siege, so why would we need them now?
EotM… just isn’t what I have in mind when I think of PvP. People play EotM for capping stuff, not for fighting people. It’s a karmatrain first, a champ train next and a leveling place last. PvP rarely enters in it’s definition.
There are no roamers, no fair fights, no real competition whatsoever.
Not everyone likes fighting 40 man zergs, thanks but no thanks. I like my roaming just as it is now on Fissure of Woe, fighting groups of max 10 players.

This was the player saying a dev said no monetization in wvw is possible. Apparently it was in the thread “Adopt a Dev”. You might want to check it in there.
Personally I don’t agree, there’s tons of ways in which one could make money off WvW.

But when you ask people what they’d be willing to pay for…. suddenly they go quiet. You want maps? Gonna have to find a way to make it worth their while. ANet aren’t a charity. But it’s easier to just cry rather than pay $5, so guess what’s gonna happen.
Ok dude, I see where you’re coming from, but I can’t say I agree.
What you say is basically: “WvW can’t get new stuff cause there’s no way to ask players to pay for it”. The main problem I have with this is that I don’t see what’s the difference with PvE and SPvP. Both of these get regular patches, changes, additions. PvE is, truthfully, given the most attention, though PvP still got a couple of new maps and a completely reworked reward system.
I don’t know why PvE and PvP get that much more attention that WvW, because the stuff in the gem store isn’t even directed at PvE players, most of it is cosmetic, and all the finishers are for PvP and WvW uses only. Boosters are useless, so I doubt anyone buys those at all.
So in short: why is WvW the black sheep, if you accept that WvW players can buy all of the gem store items just as much as the PvP and PvE players?

BY THE WAY: everyone saying that ArenaNet doesn’t look after WvW because WvW players don’t get them profits, you’re wrong.
One of the big parts of WvW and PvP is actually cosmetic: you want to have your own style, and you want to kill enemies in style. I saw a lot of WvW veterans playing with gem store skins, so really, don’t bother saying that PvE community (relatively) gets arenanet more money than WvW community. Living story doesn’t get arenanet money in any way, because nobody is paying for it…

Isn’t there an upgrade extractor in the gemstore?? It’s probably overpriced, but it exists.
I’m rather confident (as Xillix) that most WvW players would like some improvements/additions, even if it means giving us a few new maps or other objectives.
To give a suggestion: the thing I think needs an improvement most is player vs. door. It’s really not good when a ‘supposedly’ player versus player mode turns out to be nothing other than player versus environment… What can be done to remove PvD as much as possible?
1) Change the way scoring points works: PPK
2) Give better rewards for actually defending a structure
3) Finally ban the level difference in WvW: give everyone access to BiS gear as it is in SPvP (this is needed if you want 1))

As a WvW player I’m concerned with the lack of attention directed to this part of the game from the side of the developers.
At this time, we don’t see any attention directed to WvW, nor any patches or updates. We had a ‘fall tournament’ that featured a bunch of achievements with as a reward the same skins from the last tournament.
It’s as if WvW is just not worth the time and money to Arenanet. I can say for 99% of the WvW base that this is very disappointing.
If you’re the 1% I didn’t talk for, i’m okay with you disagreeing. I do not count EotM as a part of World vs. World. That’s a pve/pvd champion karmatrain.
Long story short: WvW has serious problems (coverage, population, rewards, player vs. door, lack of guild content etc), and it’s hardly amusing for us to wait for fixes, two years and counting.
Would be really grateful if someone of arenanet gave us an update.

Yeah, last week one of the servers we faced had about 4 times the score of both others (blacktide) and the funny thing was they camped us, and if they managed to kill someone 20 versus 1 they started dancing corpses as if that made them good players… the irony.
This kind of gameplay is inherently sad and broken.

Got the harp precursor from random drop… sold for 40g on trading post. No other precursors in close to 2K hours of playtime most of which has been spent in WvW, PvP and some dungeons.
Before arenanet thinks we really want this, oh jeez. :p

What arenanet should learn is that something like this (high endgame cosmetics) should not be put behind a paywall. Everyone who played for example 1000 hours of this game should be able to get a legendary, because if not a legendary is worse than a full time job and nobody wants that whilst they’re playing a game.
Make alternative ways to get a precursor: e.g. buy them with dungeon tokens, buy them with badges of glory, buy them with laurels, buy them with karma etc etc etc

Well I think they would never make an instant level 80 item. It is all about making money. I think they make more money (selling gems) to people that level from 1-80 then from people who are instant level 80. We all know the fact you want to buy some boosters, infinite mining picks, skins etc. As a player you won’t think about this when ur instant level 80.
Are you serious?? I have never bought any boosters (I have like 50 of the experience boosters sitting in my bank and I don’t even use them cause they only give exp for kills…), never gotten tools for alts or ever bought skins before I reached level 80.
The only times I’ve spent on the gem store was for level 80 characters.

I think people are severely underrating Medi Guard’s roaming capabilities. With Sword 2, GS 3, and Judge’s Intervention you have 2400 range burst mobility. The teleports are also instant cast and combined with a plethora of blocks at your disposal, you can jettison yourself out of sticky situations pretty well
Like with Necro, roaming on a Guardian just requires a bit more map awareness, with an emphasis on keeping track of ambient creatures/wildlife as escape teleport targets.
The other great benefit of roaming on a Guardian is that people constantly underestimate you, especially thieves and warriors, whom you counter pretty hard and run into a lot while roaming.
I agree with this aswell. One of my most succesful roaming builds on guardian was medi build with gs & hammer (don’t like sword that much) and runes of speed. If you’re a skilled player you can turn guardian into a killing machine.
The problem with roaming medi guards is if the fall upon a bigger group they have no way of escaping unlike thief, ele, mesmer, warrior, and ranger (a real build, not the nub’s bearbow).
It’s all about making use of the opportunities of the moment, I think. Maybe a guardian can’t outrun a thief on the long run, but they can escape on the short run, at least if they don’t spoil their mobility burst whilst engaging.
As a solo roamer and small scale-dedicated WvW player I am fairly certain if I say that removing white swords will have a negative impact on my having fun in WvW, because removing them will simply get us in less fights. Most people I know are there FOR the fights. They don’t care about the mindless PvDoor, all they care about is their server, their guild and having fun in the form of competitive PvP.
Guild Wars 2 needs more pvp, not less.
