Tech has been defending Vabbi border 2pm-6pm (some still on I think). Had a ton of nice fights (defended lake again ~30-50 FoW with 3 golems vs. our 5 man group). Kicked some WSR kitten too. Hope you enjoyed as much as we did.

Owner is a good idea. Commander just means they would have to invest more to be able to troll.

Some commanders are idiots. Most people on Vabbi ignore them. :P

I know, I can find the real mesmer most of the time: dodges, heals, backing away movement and such, but it’s sooo annoying to be kited all the time. With average players mesmers aren’t a problem and get killed easily, but with players who have played mesmer since start it’s a pain.

I’m curious as to whether or not they’re going to include the WXP earned by characters that have been deleted.
For example, I had a level 80 human warrior that I played a bunch of WvW with but decided he looked terrible and much preferred the charr equivalent and created a new warrior. I just deleted the human just over a fortnight ago since he was just wasted space.
I’ll certainly feel slightly annoyed if his WXP didn’t count. But then again, it would technically be my fault for deleting him.
That said, I am definitely looking forward to this change. Might even put a little guard leech on my ranger… Sweet, sweet condition damage.

That is… a good question. I have deleted 2 level 80 characters not long ago, who had some ranks. Might be worth it.

I’m not a fan of mesmer combat. It’s confusing and annoying, especially if you are meleeing the mesmer. They always find a way to pop out of stun/immobilize or use stealth to heal full again.

I’ll have to agree with you OP. I wrote a post about this a week ago, to no avail. My solution was to make gold accountbound, useable in NPC shops only. I guess your approach is less radical and better overall, though it would require Anet to add a large chunk of new content for it first, which is rather questionable.

Trinkets are:
Knight amulet (ascended), Soldier backpiece (with cleric), Snowflake Orichalcum earrings [56 tough, 40 healing, 1% boon duration] (with magi), Dwayna’s Embrace (rings) with magi.

This should amount to 1484 vitality, 1833 toughness + 150 from Valor trait (snowflakes are incorrect on the site), 1390 power, 1376 precision, 1374 healing power and +52% boon duration.

Weapons:
- Knight MH/Cleric OH, with the sigils I noted.

Build is working as intended so far. I’m very tanky with a more than great healing capacity (1200+ healing without a buff). I now have 2k+ toughness and 1,5k vitality aswell.

I’m still open to suggestions in case someone sees a better addition to the build. I have to stress that you do not want staff in it. Sword/Shield has a lot more benefits:

• double sigils
• stat mixes for optimal healing/toughness/vitality ratio
• movement (you don’t require staff #3 if you have retreat! & shadowstep)
• shield heal makes up for the heal you miss on staff #2, staff #4 is too static and the build is not traited for it.

Stress is less on aegis now. It will still help, but will not have a huge influence.

Reasons why:
1- Weapons:

• Sword/Shield is a starting move: Sword will allow me to shadowstep. Shield will allow me to get them off balance at once. This will either cause them to pop their own stability or to get knocked back. Shield will allow me to keep protection up.
  Sword can be swapped for Scepter, for the immobilize.

• Mace/Focus: Mace for regeneration and heal on #1 every 3rd attack. This weapon set serves for blocking and retreating mostly. Focus will help me do that.

2- Skills:

• Healing Breeze is the best shot because it heals allies aswell. Shelter is a possible alternative for the extra blocks.
• Merciful Intervention is a great skill for the fact that it has shadowstep and allied/self heal.
• “Stand your ground!” is a shout that can not be missed. The stability will be used for shrugging off multiple CC’s or for activating my elite.
• “Retreat!” is necessary for some extra swiftness and another aegis.
• Tome of Courage for the AoE heals and 30k final heal.

3- Traits: some tough decisions had to be made:

• Valor: I have chosen for the extra 150 toughness for giving the team an edge in tankiness. I have chosen not to invest in meditations because I only use Merciful Intervention, granting me an easy 2k heal and shadowstep every 50 seconds. The shadowstep is mostly useful in case we need to retreat and I don’t have a lot of mobility. I also get the special effect that I get aegis at 50% health, through Valorous Defence.

• Honor: this was the hardest. I have chosen not to use altruistic healing (XI)
  - I don’t have a full shout build, so a lot less boons
  - I have invested in a stronger passive effect of Virtue of Resolve, in Virtue trait line.
  Therefore I have chosen Battle Presence (XII) , granting a passive heal over time
  On top of that I have Pure of Heart (VI): aegis will heal. I have also invested in aegis through Virtue of Courage: every 30 seconds aegis pops up and on removal it will heal. I have also taken the shout “Retreat!” as one of the utilities that will allow me both speed and another aegis. My last trait in Honor is Superior Aura (II) for faster shout recharge. Critical hits will allow me 5 seconds of Vigor, every 5 seconds by Vigorous Precision, Selfless Daring adds a heal on dodge and I hit more when on low endurance, by Elusive Power.

• Virtue: Absolute Resolution (IX) is the grandmaster trait I have chosen here. It works together with Battle Presence for a stronger per second heal. Activating Virtue of Resolve will now clean 3 conditions aswell (I think on self and 4 allies).
  The second trait is Indomitable Courage (X) for a faster recharge on the passive aegis and for 3 seconds of stability. Combined with “Stand your ground!” utility skill it allows me and team 8 seconds of stability. The last trait is also for aegis: 20% extra damage while aegis is up. I know this trait isn’t really going to do much, but it’s the best I can find in this line. Extra effects: extra damage per boon, retaliation whenever I activate a virtue and Virtues give might, protection and regeneration.

4- Gear

• Armour: cleric’s: healing, power, toughness. Power isn’t really needed, but the toughness and healing is. We will add more vitality down the way.
  Runes are a delicate choice:
  - For more healing, water is perfect. Altruism is also nice.
  - For more sustained tanking, you want dolyak.
  - You can also mix different things
  Depends what you like best.

• Weapons: a mix of magi’s and cleric’s for obvious reason: healing and a decent amount of toughness/vitality. Sigils I think to use are: water & life on mace/focus; restoration and purity on sword/shield.

• Trinkets: mix of cleric & magi, exquisite snowflakes for extra boons & toughness/heal (the description on “Into the mists” is not correct).
  
  Please comment below if you think you have suggestions to make this build better.
  I’m aware toughness/vit aren’t extremely high, might swap some gear to get a more suitable combination.

Hello everyone, I’m Vael, a small scale roamer from Vabbi. I’m part of a guild called Tech, one of many small scale teams from our server. I have played GW2 and WvW since september last year, have played nearly all classes as a level 80 (necro/ranger not yet), and been trying out a lot of builds for guardian.

[INTRODUCTION OF PROBLEM]
One thing that bothers me is the following:
- Whenever I decide to go healer, I loose a lot of my tank abilities:

• I’m forced to run shouts I feel as a healing guardian: no mobility, low on stun breaking, low on condition removal, and no big self-heals (compared to meditation builds).
• The weapons that have healing options are mostly Staff and Mace/Shield.
  - Staff has a heal on #2 orb detonation and on #4 might buff.
  - Mace will heal on every 3rd attack and also has a healing symbol on #2. On top it has one block.
  - Shield has protection buff and again a detonation skill on #5
• My vitality is too low if I run cleric’s
• I don’t feel the shouts are really helping my team mates a lot.

On the other hand when I go non-shouts I lack other things:
- No party-wide stability
- No sustained healing
- Burst heals through meditations are timed and don’t help the party much.

So what usually happens is that I get in trouble because I don’t have mobility skills. I have barely any damage mitigation: only the block on mace and aegis.

Is there any way to stay tanky while still healing a lot? Is staff necessary? Are shouts replaceable?

For instance Merciful Intervention is a nice bonus, but then you need to invest in meditations for one single skill. Hallowed ground is nice, but often looses a lot of it’s practical value because it requires your team to stick close to you, which is impossible when you face a bigger force, because of AoE. It’s all about moving fast.

So the things I would preferably need are:
- High movement speed.
- Enough blocks to prevent me from going down by timed bursts from enemies, before I get a chance to heal.
- Appropiate toughness/vitality and high healing power.
- Optionally condition removals (shouts remove condis in case you trait for them).
- Replacement for staff?

So I recently hit a necro in lich form for 7.7k…… Using Zealot’s Embrace.

I’m not really sure how it happened. I have solid power and crit damage when I’m fully stacked, but the skill only hits for 700 damage, I hit 10x that. Doesn’t really add up.

Anyone else experienced something similiar? I’m sure it must be one of the biggest chain hits out there. I’ll post some proof below, and a pic of my stats.

I really really REALLY think you should look into this ANET. As am I, have also struggled when our main person decided to rage quit the party by going offline and we were so close to beating the new boss; we were basically sitting ducks. I’m very upset because we’ve come so far and only ended up having to leave since if we kicked the main person out, we’ll also be heading out. It’s a waste of time overall when we’re achieving nothing. If you can just fix that problem with the party system, then that’ll be great for everyone that doesn’t have to deal with the main “rager” or the “i gtg/went offline outta nowhere etc” people.. I’m trying my best to be positive about gw2 but so far it’s leaving me in a disappointed situation where I feel that I’m going to step down this game until you guys fix this. For example: You guys just released the new fotm & the story, yet the story mode itself has no wp.
Until you guys can fix the party system that applies to dungeons, I’m not gonna bother. It’s just not fair for the remaining party to get dragged out of the instance because of that one person. (that happens to be the one that started the dungeon).
It’s like “Oh, I’m dragging you guys down with me, toodles!” leaves party or goes offline . I find it rather selfish; it’s unfair for the people that needs to complete their dungeons achievements or w/e their reasons are.

By the way, the daily gardener achievement is glitching! Can’t complete it! Everyone in the map chat is letting me know about this problem too.

I’m one of those casual players. I barely ever complete a full chain. Don’t blame the players, blame anet for making it so time-consuming.

4 instances take too long. Especially with boss fractals like Mai Trin.

Fight 1: thief/warr/mesmer/guard vs. guard/guard/warr/mesmer 0-1
Fight 2: guardian/warr/mesmer/engineer vs. guard/guard/warr/mesmer 0-2
Fight 3: I think I forgot one? Dunno what we ran there.
Fight 4: guardian/warr/warr vs. guard/guard/warr 0-4

Guess we need to train against heavy set-ups. Can I inform as to your respective team builds, I’m interested what killed us. As for us:
- on thief I was zerk, backstab, d/p build
- on guardian I was mix of knight/soldier, meditation build
- Duyall on warr was hammer/gs, custom stun/burst
- our mesmer Amasage was running blackwater (he hates mesmer though)
- Max was guardian first fight, don’t know his build
- Max on engineer second was mostly condition, no heal
- on warr he ran stunlock, but he swapped hammer instead of gs

I think our main problems were:
- Your mesmer was really high dmg, and very evasive. We noticed he had very low health, since we nearly killed him on 2nd match but he blinked to other side of the arena.
- With your 2 guardians I’m guessing a lot of shouts; stability, regen, protection, making our CC totally useless. I’m also guessing our blackwater mes couln’t do much cause of continuous condi removal.
- We didn’t have party-wide stability buffs.
- Overall not enough group healing and sustained heal/buff, most of the builds used were for solo or 2-3 man roaming, camp capping and a lot of mobility combined with bursts. Didn’t do much good in a situation where we had to do a standing fight.

Really interested in your builds though

Cultural-styled armor that has to be earned by in game actions and reputation? Sure.

I wouldn’t mind any of that. Only problem I had with the current is that:

• If you make it cultural armour, there’s no way you can reskin it and sell it as something else, yet a lot cheaper and not exclusive to 1 single race.

I’d be okay if they let us earn allegiance and wear all cultural armour after earning allegiance.

I personally don’t see any other solution than to cap the population on one map to 50. Only way to keep blobs as small as possible and give low population servers a honest chance.

Other way of thinking might be that server points stop counting if there isnt anybody against you -> you could still cap, but the match would still be more even. Most of karmatrain-pvd people dont even care the score, so it would not be so bad. Problem is how to balance it.

- Eternal battleground gives you PPT
- Your own borderland gives you PPT
- Other borderlands will not give you PPT, but you can cap them for WXP/karma/gold rewards of course.

Maybe make it 2 normal fractals and 1 boss for a chain. 4 fractals is just ridiculous.

Do you think race changes should be in the gem store? Yes/No? Reasons why (not)?

Personally I’d like race changes in the gem store:
- convenient if you start to dislike the race you have now: if you simply dislike the looks
- for practical purposes: charr for example are rather visible, and sometimes you want to be rather small (for pvp)
- the story isn’t very impact-ful so it wouldn’t ‘break’ your history

Btw, after watching that video, is it just me or is that guy doing the same thing all the time?

- Heal up cause he lost 3k hp (wtf?)
- Get his axe/shield out, stun the air, eviscerate the air
- Run away
- Get rifle out

First post here, played since pre-launch and spent a fair amount of money in this game (a few hundreds, actually). Anyway, i’m one of the evil players that bought the Flamekissed armor skin. I did it with 800 gems that i bought for 10,00$.

Now it will be removed from the game (or replaced by something i didn’t pay for). If i read correctly, i’ll be able to get a full refund by contacting support. We’re not talking about the 800 gems, but the 10,00$, right? Because i honnestly don’t care about those gems… but i did care about that skin.

My main concern is : will it happen again? It’s actually the first time in my life that i buy something and it’s “replaced” without my concent after my money was taken away from my wallet. As an adult customer, i’m a bit in shock right now. How can i sincerely put any more money in your gemshop, knowing that my purchase might be temporary or that it might change eventually because someone else isn’t happy with it?

What am i supposed to think about all this?

Get over it. There will be more skins/other items in the future. And who says you won’t like the new skin, bla bla.

I think maybe 0,00001% of the gw2 community was affected by this change. I know nobody who has a fractal level above 20.

I enjoyed Thaumanova too. Completed final boss with 2 guys.

I don’t think there’s any problem with fractals. They’re decent enough content to play (fun, challenging). I never bothered with them a lot, because I’m not a PvE player, but imo it makes the game better. Stop QQing.

I suspected that there would be outcry about behaviour at the arena – people are taking ANet’s creation as some sort of “Duels only” rule. Similarly to how people have objected to windmill ganking for ages.

At best, it is a hope that players duel, should never be an expectation. Personally, I won’t yell at people for interrupting as there is no game rule for it, but I shall attack enemy interrupters and not defend allied ones unless I’m in a really weird mood.

I’ll be there at the event tomorrow, although I don’t duel too much preferring to 4v4/5v5.

Tbh I haven’t seen “zerging” in obsidian yet. Most of the fights were <10 people and quite balanced. I think it’s an improvement. I liked the skirmishes a lot, even though it was a chaotic mess. :P

Oh and in how many hours is duel event? I might be interested to see it/help clear out people who are disrupting.

Perhaps this is specifically related to my server but I have noticed that since the season began, the ability to be a solo or small team roamer appears not to be viable anymore. In the last few days, every time I try to solo roam or join up with a small group to do scouting missions, we always run into a massive zerg. It looks as if there is little place in WvW anymore for a roamer. Is it just me or is the zerg the only real method of playing in WvW now?

• First the GvG arena: Hooray!
• Account-bound fractal level: Hooray!
• Then they delete the cultural armour from gem store: Hooray!
• Then they decide to make WXP accountbound? Hooray!

The only thing we need now is account-bound ascended gear (swappable between light, med and heavy? :o).
