That is actually a good suggestion, but may or may not lead to an abuse of the system.
We will have to test it before we make the assumption that it will fail. With the addition of some very good defensive traits, 3 second gcd on attunements, and the fact that you will also have barriers on all dual skills ( If traited I think) the new spec may be able to make it without your suggestion because it will have those bases covered.
Again, we will have to see and test.

Also I am not seeing 5 condi’s on a dodge trait, can you link they trait that adds the extra condies on dodge?

Edit: Ok I think I see the issue, you’re standing in a 90radius caltrops drop from the dodge, that is only 4 conditions.
You could probably deal with this if you didn’t stand in the caltrops. . .

Your zerg should always be moving, parties should be balanced and your frontline is going to take the majority, if not all of the hits of CoR and it does crap damage that Ele’s will heal through. Their is a reason why people desire necro’s/ele over rev. DPS.

What I find funny is that no one has mentioned the fact that Gaurdian traps, backstab, and ranger LB, can do this damage.
And they dont need a zerg to cover for them.

Power rev cant deal with condi spikes- you can run, and hope you get healed, you can switch to mallyx and spam resistance, but in both scenerios you are doing no damage, and their is no guarantee you survive because condi is meta.

Power rev is terrible with hammer in a 1 v 1- this shouldnt need explaining, if you die to a hammer rev 1 v 1 you need to do some soul searching.

Power Rev CAN be 2-3 shot by a power theif- This should be a very important point to all of you who keep posting a full zerker rev, you will be picked off by pick teams because your squishy, and thieves can and will do it.

If you rely on a zerg to be useful ( and arguably against organized groups that usefulness diminishes greatly) then by design that weapon/class is terrible.

If you want to be useful to zergs just go condirev and give resistance to teammates, and drop UA on downed players so your necro’s can kill twice as many people from spreading condies to everyone with epi.

Also, When you have dreadlocks. They are not shorter in the back, and long in the front. They should be longer in the back because as they grow the back dreads, being closer to your back and lower on your head, will hang lower than the ones on top of the head.

From 2012-2014 the numbers never got that low
But last year 2015

You cannot say that it wasn’t because of HoT, not when the game was released in 2012 and the numbers NEVER got that low(according to the report) BEFORE HoT.

The numbers, the report, the sales AND the history pretty much point this on the release of this expansion.

There’s absolutely nothing to disagree with. This is factual.

You can’t know how well something would have done had you not done it. That’s my point..

And I agree, You will never know if something would succeed unless you do it. But if it fails, then it fails.

That is to say without an expansion those numbers could be lower than they are now. There really is no way to know.

That’s a “what if”
The fact is, they released the expansion.
The numbers are in fact lower.
The expansion did not do well for the company.
That’s a fact.

You can say the expansion launched and numbers went down. What you can’t prove is how much they would have gone down if the expansion hadn’t launched. It’s simply not provable.

This expansion was not successful.

Edit: A baseball manager brings in a pinch hitter. He drives in 1 run. They lose the game anyway. That doesn’t mean if they hadn’t brought in that pinch hitter, they wouldnt’ have 1 more run than they ended up with. There really is no way to know.

Better analogy.
A baseball team has had a seasoned pitcher for 2 years
They havent lost a game.
The baseball manager decides he wants a new pitcher.
The lose the next game considerably.

Now. History has shown that the Veteran has had a higher success rate that the noobs.
Had the baseball manager kept the veteran in. There is a higher chance they would have won. History shows and validates that record.
But he didn’t. He chose the noob.
They lost because of his choice.

I’ve been taking a break in Star Trek Online (STO) by NCSoft. The buzz there is that pvp has the same basic issues; No real balance, you need a tight team to win and PUGs get insta hammered and leave.

Oh and there was that other game City of Heroes ( CoH) which was a lot of fun but died for some of the same reasons.

NC Soft and ANET think that if they force people to play on teams to be competitive it will ignite esports. They are mistaken.

STO is not a NCNA game. It was a Cryptic Studio’s game and it’s publisher was Atari I believe. Cryptic was a really really bad studio to begin with. It was bought out by ARC games a few years ago.

And CoH started as a NCNA+ Cryptic Game but then changed into Paragon studio’s. It died from i13 where there was a mass exodus of top pvp teams and pvp’ers all at once. Because the devs tried to make pvp in that game something slower than it was meant to be, and failed miserably.
( that time of CoH makes me really really sad)

As isaid in other thread, BnS is not GW2 killer. Anet killed GW2 themself. People are not leaving because of new shiney but because gw2 simply sucks atm and there is no hope due to Anet history.

That and I think of BnS as a hybrid fighting game. It, to me, is more enjoyable currently than GW2.

The 1v1 esport scene is massive compared to GW2 esports.

There development team is doing some things right, and Anet should probably start paying attention to what they’re doing.

No. BnS will not kill GW2, but if Anet keeps on the track they are going the pvp community may as well nail the coffin shut themselves.

um there is no way he can hit you that hard if you have 3200 armor….. Unless he has might + bloodlust + you have vulnerability + other traits increasing dmg done to you.
Assuming his weapon strength is 1166 (Max according to gw2 wiki), the hammer 2 ability has coefficient of 2.25 (this is for the final impact which has the highest coefficient). Using the equation (acquired from the wiki):

dmgdone = weapon strength*power*coefficient / armor
dmgdone = 1166*4000*2.25/3200
dmgdone = 3279.375

This is assuming that he actually has 4000 power…. he cannot achieve this without alot of might + bloodlust + traits. This is also assuming that he doesn’t crit. So let’s assume that it’s a crit and he has 250% critical dmg (Assuming he actually can achieve this amount which is not possible without traits and other players buffing him). Meaning that we multiply the base dmg done (3279.375) by 2.5. This will make him do 8198.4375 dmg.

So as you can see, I have assumed that he has very high stats (4000 power + 250% critical dmg) and he only did 8198.4375 dmg, however this dmg does not factor in vulerability. Let’s assume that you have 25 stacks of vulerability which increases dmg done to you by 25%. The total amount of dmg that could be done is 10248.

To conclude in no kittening way do you have 3200 armor because I gave him absurdly high stats, and gave you 25 stacks of vulerability. You also said that you dont have any blocks, so there is no way cruel repercussion (rev trait) can activate. But if it did, it would do around the amount shown in your battle log (this is very unlikely because he would need absurdly high stats, you need to have 25 stacks of vul) So I determined that you are full of crap.

^ full zerk build (all ascended), scholar runes, best possible power increasing foods, all power infusions, max might, max bloodlust stacks won’t even give you 4k power… Having this and 250% crit dmg is rediculous, so if he can gets this high of stats, it makes sense that he can do so much dmg to you.

I meant while in the Mallyx legend. Beating a rev would be as simple as – wait for Mallyx, stack immobile, ping pong and burst to your hearts content.

You just described how to beat any class. Burn their cooldowns, CC, burst. And revenants should be excluded from this formula because..?

You could just corrupt boon/strip boon, then CC it. Mall has no stun breaks, and unless they waste dodges they wont stack stab. ( though if they waste dodges you can just hit them with burst and they melt.)

Seriously, watch the EU pro league qualifiers then watch the NA ones. Plenty of EU teams deserved to get into pro leagues more than the NA ones.

Yet ANet insist on this stupid rule that NA pro league teams have to be 100% NA players, making it impossible for certain EU players who deserve to be in pro leagues and win cash prizes and giving free cash to bad NA players instead.

Ive never hit above 10k crit on an underlevel at WvW with 25 bloodlust stacks and around 10 might stacks, and same setup hits for around 6k crit at much on lvl 80 glass cannon builds with exotic at least. Idk what are people smoking to say it does easy 20k’s, if anything look at Coalescence of Ruin’s trait cause tbh I havent tried it since it looks to cheesy.

It’s the trait.
I tried it a few days ago.
If by some chance you miss an auto you get the proc, then it’s 15k crits with full buffs on the ending strike.

I agree with the guy who said this earlier.

The Cruel trait needs to be scrapped entirely.

From what you just posted, you’re the last person ever that should talk about logic.

…Well given your lack of knowledge about the skill are you sure you want to criticize people?

Dodging isn’t the only way to counter UA.
In fact it has multiple counter’s
Even an obvious start up animation.

If at this point a Rev is giving you trouble in a 1 v 1 you may want to reconsider your build choices.
Or accept the fact you may not be that great.

But since we are nerfing skills that have an evade to them we need to nerf the damage by 50% on

Vualt
Blurred Frenzy
Whirlwind attack
Flanking Strike
Burning speed
Pistol whip &
Rocket Charge

Because those skills also do a lot of damage while having an evade on them.
It’s too much for players to think about dodging, or blocking.

Aren’t you that same player who kept trying to say D/D Cele Ele was fine before all classes got a power creep?

Pain Absorption..Why again?

Think of it as a condition cleanse for your party and given that you’ll get a fair amount of resistance from it anyway it will render most of the conditions ineffective till they’re gone.

It’s arguably worse since a single boon strip spells doom for you and at 35 energy, if you don’t absorb a decent amount of conditions, you wont really have that much Resistance(you need to absorb about 4 conditions, assuming no Facet of Nature and that you’re using Demonic Defiance, to “break even” on energy and get “perma-Resistance”).

With no cleanses, you better hope that resistance lasts long enough because as soon as you can’t maintain it, you’re probably going to start melting. I really think it worked better before because your heal scaled better and your other utilities also got significantly stronger.
Nowadays, I really think it should just cleanse or something. The resistance is nice and I like it, but I don’t like eating my friend’s Burning stack and then dying because someone had a random boon strip(or just having a ton of long-lasting condis on me and being forced to swap because, well, lolno Stun Breaks).

Hey guys….and Devs…..DEVS!

Just wanted to post my opinion on needed buffs/nerfs/changes in the upcoming patch for Rev.

Note: If it is not mentioned, then I think it’s fine as is. The exception to this is Centaur Stance, which I did not thoroughly test.

Weapon Sets:

Sword:

#1: Damage needs to be lowered a bit. A BIT, is the key word here. It’s just a tad high for a class with toggle SS, leading to AA with SS being our highest form of DPS.

#2: Needs a buff in damage. The skill literally hits for 300 depending on what gear you’re using. No skill should hit so low on a level 80. Pull damage from 1 and 3 and put it here.

#3: This skill…..all I’ve seen is complaining about this skill. I personally don’t’ think it’s OP at all. It’s easy to see coming and dodge the majority of it. It also does very low damage unless you’re alone…..and even then, against certain enemies such as Mesmer, Necro, or even Ranger, the damage is halved, if not cut into fractions due to multiple targets. But OK, if you blow your quills, and use it on say…a thief who is alone, it can do some serious damage. So a small damage nerf is warranted if it means #2 gets some more damage.

Sword Off Hand:

#4: I would personally like to see this skill completely redone into a damage move. We already have shield, which makes both skill into healing/blocking. We don’t need more blocking on our Sword #4. This should be another offensive skill.

Hammer:

#1: CD reduced to 0.75 and do something. Like cripple….I dunno. All other auto attacks have a built in condi or effect, except this one.

#2: Fix the hit parameters for it.

#4: Should be on a toggle that drains a certain amount of energy, like Impossible Odds.

#5: Great skill…but it’s cast time is absurd. People can literally walk out of it…..and I do mean walk…not roll or dodge….walk. The cast time on this should really be 1 second….1.25 at the most.

That’s honestly it for the weapons skills. I think the weapons with the above changes are fine. On to the Stances.

Shiro:

Jade Winds: This needs to cost 30-35 Energy. When you swap stances you are bumped to 50 Energy. Having a skill that costs 50 Energy is absurd. Me swapping stances to use a skill….in other words playing my class to its utility, shouldn’t be punished with me being forced to do nothing but auto attack for 5 seconds because I have 0 Energy. (This problem will come up in Dwarf King as well)

Dwarf King:

Inspiring Reinforcement: Need’s a damage buff. I’m currently art 2400 Power and it’s labeled damage is 640…….really? With that kind of power it should be a little more than that. I feel the length is fine, but it needs to be wider. It also needs a duration buff to around 8 seconds from 6.

Forced Engagement: Needs a damage buff, 2400 power and it labeled as 310 damage. Also needs a buff to it’s duration. 2 seconds of slow and taunt should be at least 3. This is currently, imo, the worst utility skill Rev has out of any stance.

Vengeful Hammers: Needs a damage buff AND a healing buffs AND a radius Buff….. Currently doing 93 damage a second…..might as well do 0, that’s not making any difference in the fight. Might as well heal 0 as well, 40 health isn’t changing anything. At 2400 power It should be damaging for around 300 a tick. and healing for about 200. A small amount, but enough that if I keep it up for 10 or so seconds. I’ve gotten 3k damage out of it….which is still very mediocre, but given it reduced incoming damage I’m not looking at this as doing insane damage. Also it’s radius should be 160-200.

Rite of the Great Dwarf: Now, this one has the same problem as Shiro’s Ult. It costs 50….which means if I jump into a fight and want to try and save my friends, I am punished for doing so by being left at 0 power, and being useless for 5 seconds. This should be 30-35 power.

Thins brings me to my change in general about Dwarf Stance. ALL the skills need to have their energy cost reduced. Everything in Dwarf is SO darn expensive…it makes it useless to run due to the fact that you can only cast 1 thing….that’s it.

Inspiring Reinforcement: Currently: 30 Energy. Should be: 15-20 Energy

Force Engagement: Currently: 35 Energy. Should be: 15-20 Energy

Vengeful Hammers: Currently: 5 on cast and 7 upkeep. Should be: 5 on cast, 5 Upkeep.

Demon Stance:

Empowering Misery: Need’s to heal more per condition…like…a lot more. I’d double the per condition.

Pain Absorption: Need’s to be buffed from 1 condition transferred to 2 per target.

Banish Enchantment: Remove the insane 155 damage…wowie, and give it 5 Stacks of confusion, up from 3.

Unyielding Anguish: Needs a duration bump from 4 seconds to 6. Also needs to either stack more Torment faster, or do another damaging condition such as bleed. For 30 energy just 1 stack of torment per pulse isn’t enough.

Embrace Darkness: This is the biggest problem with the stance. Dwarf, everything costs too much, this one…just doesn’t have an ulti. I understand what you were trying to do, you stack condi’s on you enemy, then get 10% more condition damage with this ult to tick harder. But it just isn’t enough to be the stances ulti. Need’s to give 15% to all stats up from 10%, should pulse 2 stacks of torment, up from 1. And it’s upkeep should be dropped from 7 energy, to 5. I’m still not sure if this is enough to make it viable. But it should help.

Glint:

Infuse Light: Initial heal needs to be buffed. Currently a 1k heal…..think it’s the lowest heal in the game. Depending on enemies damaging you for your heal isn’t viable against good players.

Chaotic Release: Needs its cast time dropped to 1 second from 1.25.

On to Talent Tree’s.

Devastation:

Ferocious Strikes: This shouldn’t have a pre-req. It should just be 150 Ferocity for using your Talent point on it.

Focused Siphoning: Need a small buff.

Herald:

Elder’s Force: Needs to be 3% per boon.

Enhanced Bulwark: Is this really a GM trait? This just needs to be taken out and replaced with something else. I wouldn’t even take this as the minor trait lol.

F2: The F2 skills aura seems a little pointless to me. The activate I love though so…..who knows.

Retribution:

Enduring Recovery: Needs its ICD lowered from 10 to 7.

Close Quarters: Needs it’s range threshold reduced from 360 to 300

Improved Aggression: Should do something in PvP. Maybe it only increases taunt duration by 50% to players instead of 100%. It’s dumb that there’s a trait that just has no effect in PvP.

Everything in the Ret GM tree need a lower ICD:

Empowering Vengence: No ICD, down from 1.

Versed in Stone: 30 sec CD, down from 45.

Steadfast Rejuvination: 2 sec ICD, down from 4.

Corrupotion:

Maniacal Persistence: What is this….an occasional guaranteed crit in the condition tree….and it’s a GM….really? Replacement needed.

That’s it!

As you can see, I think several nerfs are needed on the weapon side of Rev, mainly sword, but some buffs are needed on the Traits of Rev when I compared them to my other classes Trait Lines.

And of course some flat out buffs are needed on some of stances to make them viable over Shiro/Glint.

Let me know what you guys think, or any changes you would make.

P.S.: Sorry Centaur Stance/Salvation Trait line. I just have a Druid….why would I ever use you for healing lol.

Gonna touch up on some things I disagree with.

Sword #3
I don’t think it needs a nerf as far as damage.
I think the ability should be five (5) hits, but don’t nerf the damage ( since it is honestly already avoidable, and easily negated.)
This makes the ability a bit easier to dodge for people who don’t want to get better at the game. ( since those are the people Anet seems to cater to)

Pain Absorption.
I think this needs to be a straight cleanse. The rev has no real way to utilize the condies it transfers to itself since the condi copy has been removed from the elite.

Glint Heal#
I don’t think the heal is that bad, but a buff to it would be welcome.

Shiro Elite-Jade Winds.

I disagree with an energy reduction, the power of this ability and the fact you can combo it to other high damage attacks makes it’s cost justified. Also it has kitten cd. pretty powerful for an AoE stun.

Embrace the Darkness.
I completely agree about this skill being garbage, but it needs a complete rework.
It needs a new identity because currently Mallyx is so confused it’s sad.
With the direction that has been going with mallyx so far I would say that the ult needs to pulse 3 random damaging condies ( burn,bleed,torment,poison, confusion) and 1 random debilitating condi ( weakness,cripple,chill,immobilize, vuln).

Rite of the Great Dwarf.
This being the stun break in Jalis is bad, very very bad.
I agree with you about the energy cost but if they wont do that.
I think the stun break should be moved to another ability that Jalis has, because 50energy to me makes this legend subpar when compared to glint or even shiro.

Either move the stun break to another ability or reduce the energy AND cast time.

Empowering Misery-
I think needs to grant resistance per condi currently on you OR just straight cleanse them.

If you’re getting stomped by the hammer 2 skill you’re just bad…..there’s really nothing else to it.

Hammer, although I do like it’s move set, has tons of problems with it. It’s AA is on too long of a CD, it’s #2 misses if you are on an incline/decline/a little to the left/right. Not to mention you dont even need to dodge to dodge it, just walk left or right. It’s 3 has camera bugs, and it’s 5 should be a 1 second cast…but instead it’s almost 2.

In other words if you’re diein to hammer, you should probably go play an easier PvP game, like WoW. This one isn’t for you.

I remember that the reason a lot of Mallyx was changed was because the dev team thought it was counter productive in a group setting to take and send condies to enemies when condies can just be cleared.

So..
Why keep a skill that transfers condies from allies to the rev..when the rev has no real way to remove the condies OR copy them.

If the arguement was “because people clear condies before the rev can utilize them”
Why hasn’t this skill been changed like the rest?

Why not just make this a straight group cleanse?

Because backstab is attack from stealth (you cant see that coming).
You can dodge true shot because you know it’s animation.

There are a lot of logic flows in your argumentation.
1.) 4 seconds CD per attack vs 10 seconds CD per dodge.
2.) A thief HAS to also have stealth, to deal that damage, the DH does not have that additional requirement.
3.) With the trapper rune the DH has enough access to stealth to also attack from there.
4.) How can I dodge that in a teamfight? Kill Shot is something you can dodge in a teamfight due to the strong animation, long cast time and longer CD.

2. Thief has to have stealth?..Don’t most thief builds use stealth? Why is this even a point?

A few things in this game can get to high damage numbers, some are ranged some are melee.

As for the Hammer, the only things that needs fixing is that CoR can hit same player with two cascading impacts at once if the character model is unlucky enough to be in that “sweet spot” which leads to instakills on builds without toughness.
Aside from that behaviour which may need fixing, Hammer is totally fine, has clear counters and figures as L2P issue.
If you run from hammer revenant or try to range him and then come here to complain, I have no sympathy for you.

This is well put. Anyone who hangs out at range and lets a hammer Revenant wail on them gets pretty much exactly what they deserve.

Revenant Hammer 2 makes any other skill look like a baby’s toy. It crits people for 7k with GIANT kitten AOE and 1200 range with 2!!! 2!!!!! seconds cd and you can even move while casting. It’s kittenin ridiculous. Now that people finally figured out this piece of kitten skill they come in groups spamming this at anyone and you die instantly. It doesn’t help that sometimes the animation and dmg bug out making you unable to judge the dodge timing. Even when you can dodge, it doesn’t help because it has 2!!!! 2!!!! 2!!!!! SECONDS cd. If it had 15 or 20 energy usage maybe it’s balanced but instead it has 5! This is the most broken skill in this game currently.

2 things.

1.) At 1200 range you can side step this skill.
With swiftness this is easy.
2.) In melee range, the effectiveness and damage fall off immensely

By the time you side step this skill, you should be in melee range.

You just beat a revenant’s entire weapon choice.

Melee range Coalesence of Ruin will do around 3k
Try playing against good people as a rev, before you complain or at least ask what you are doing wrong.

A trap ranger saving his unblockable trap for knocking a Revenant out of his block is pretty much useless since Rangers have kitten condition application without them. Condition builds counter everything in 1 vs 1s, I probably have the build with the most condition removal available and still die to them fast. Only blinding projectile is unblockable on Shadow Shot, not the melee attack. So Mesmers can cancel the heal portion of the block if they crit with a damage build. Yes DH counter Revenant block spam but Revenant has tons of stability and evades and can heal from the traps. Necro horn as I said does counter it and I don’t see the unblockable marks trait worth taking over the other 2 especially as a Reaper.

I disagree with saving, since by the time a rev is going touse his shield he is either near death and the trap is back up Or dead from burning
I guess I haven’t noticed the shadowshot deal because I use basivenom + on blocking targets to continue DPS pressure.
A revenant doesn’t have tons of stability, two seconds on dodge which happens twice OR Jalis.

You could argue that shiro has an evade that also gives endurance. But why would you need stability then if you are using shiro? since the evade is also a stun break?

And if you are using shiro. The better traiting option is Devastation since it adds more overall dps and hps.

If we are talking Jalis.

That legend is subpar compared to herald, and no one is going to give up Shiro over Jalis, because Shiro performs better.

Stability on a rev is entirely situational, either they have jalis equipped which is ….well….not really competitive. OR they have retribution traited, with a stability that last for all of 2s. Giving up hps and dps for a subpar dodge roll trait that will only help you 20% of the time.

As for necro trait’s.
To each his own.
I don’t see the point of movement speed in shroud when you can chill constantly as a reaper.
Vuln stacking I could understand, increase in DPS is an increase.
But for marks to generate life force to me is better, because that means more reapershroud, which means more slashy slash

Imo conquest is boring anyway, Anet should balance around SH and WvW. Super bunker builds are only good in conquest because of the circle capping mechanic.

When DH is nerfed by 50%

Next will be Rev then reaper

Then Scrapper and reaper

Then Druid and reaper

Then mesmer and reaper

Then ele 3 years later

Then Warrior because all the other classes will be nerfed enough for it to shine.

All the while people who are bad at the game will continue to QQ nerfing other things further.

I think that’s the point of the whine post.
You’ll get used to being at the top of the chop list though.
Welcome to the position thieves and mesmer’s have been in for years.

1: Thieves have always been top tier duelers. their job has always been to seek out and quickly down their opponent and get away. Every mechanic of the thief is based around either killing or avoiding combat. it is a job they do exceedingly well. WvW or PVP Thieves have alswayse been amazing. never the most powerful, but always well taken care of. (by that I mean they have had the needed attention given to both their underpowered and over powered abilities.)

2: Mesmers have always been meant to cause confusion on the battle field. Again they do this very well. In PVP their confusion grants them survivability. InWvW they support a zerg with portals, speed, veil, and can be the deciding factor for caping a keep or tower. Mesmers have always been high tier classes.

The only reason you think people are making whine posts about guardians is that you want them to stay on top. Look, enjoy DH being so powerful now. i get it. i have one as well. but at least admit when your class needs a nerf, and when other classes are too weak. Otherwise the game will die a pitiful death because the players concerns are not heeded.

Go back to elementary and learn to read.

No where did I say I wan’t DH to be on top, in fact I really don’t care if they were deleted tonight from a random patch.

Thief and Mesmer have been QQ’d about for years.
Very recently have guardians been in that position and I think a lot of them don’t know what to do.
So I gave the DH mains a pat on the back( maybe it was too vague for most peoples reading comprehension…..I’m not apologizing) and told them to enjoy their spot on the chopping board in the corner that the devs visit to ground pound a profession.

Well over 20k damage on a single button press at 1200 range on a 3 second cooldown is obviously totally broken. I don’t know what Anet was thinking but it made me stop playing my main class in pvp.

Can you provide a screenshot of you getting a 20k ruin? On a player

The skill hits 3 times. 9k + 7k + 5k = 21k and that’s just for a normal hit, I got hit for 14k once, with 2 other targets it can get near 25-28k total damage with full might stacks.

The only way you would get 21k damage would be to superspeed through every sweet spot of CoR and get hit WILLINGLY 3 times.

You are also either lying about your damage values or you are taking them from a debuffed target.

CoR on a target with no vuln will take

3k-melee ( when hit from the side with the lifesteal trait, otherwise it’s around 2.7k)

4.5k mid ( Or 4.1k without the lifesteal damage)

5.3k max range (OR 4.7k without lifesteal)

Constantly had 3-4 might stacks, target had no vuln.

Got the added 7% damage bonus for having fury and 5% damage bonus from runes of strength.

I’ll ask again.

That all happened in roughly ~3 seconds total. I’m far from experienced in PvP, but taking that sort of damage IMMEDIATELY in a fight doesn’t exactly allow me to then outplay a revenant, especially after he immediately switched to S/S and UA’d me to death.

I’m not saying that Revenant’s are OP, or anything like that, because I don’t have enough experience to justify any claim like that. What I can say, however, is that seeing this happen even one time, that fast, means I probably won’t stick around long enough to see it happen a second time. If people think that’s fun, then awesome. Good for them. I can go find a game that’s actually competitive and mainstream and, well, balanced. I play GW for fun, and nothing about having that happen to me is fun.

That’s better.

And allow me to explain what happened to you.

In between the mid and final damage point of CoR there is a sweet spot. That requires you to be in the right position at the right time.

it’s a small window and I have usually only ever seen someone get hit in that spot if they are either
A) running away and run into the sweet spot- getting hit twice OR
B) dodge backwards INTO the sweet spot.

It’s really hard to position yourself and someone else into that area of damage
Judging by your screenshot as well you were fighting ( i really hope you were)multiple people, so I doubt your focus was on the rev sitting at range.

So my advice is-
If you see a red line going towards you

1. Side step

It’s a line that is directional and can be sidestepped to negate 100% of the damage

2. Dodge forward

Much like you would dodge a shatter burst, you dodge forward otherwise you might get hit twice, which happened in your screenshot.

3. Stick in melee range

Hammer sucks in melee range, it doesn’t have something like an instant knock so sitting in melee range and attacking the side and back of the target negates almost all damage the hammer will do.

4. Be aware of your surroundings.

This isn’t directed at you, but to the people that complain about getting hit by a high damage attack from max range when the damage could be 100% avoided by walking up stairs or uneven ground.

So, you copied a “meta” build and that allowed you to go to from R5 to R30 within a day.

You gained 134,500 rank points (in other words, got 90 wins) in one day.

Please, share your secret with us. If everyone else is using these builds, how were you able to win so much?

My ballpark estimate for a minimum amount of time to get that much rank is 18 hours, unless you have a ridiculous win/loss ratio (I’m talking 90% plus), which I doubt.

Thieves are annoying, while Chronomancers are deadly. Condi Reapers are annoying (although they can kill you), but power Reapers are a more serious, immediate threat. You didn’t even mention the other strong contenders here, such as Dragonhunters with invisible, bugged traps; tough-as-nails Scrappers which can still hit pretty hard; and Heralds who expect to win using just Coalesce of Ruin and Unrelenting Assault, along with their assorted invulnerabilities and two healing skills. Heartseeker thieves aren’t even a drop in the bucket here. Before you complain about balance, you should probably play a little bit more (or a lot more, actually).

Your time estimates are a bit off.

You can usually get off 4 games per hour if you are lucky (not hindered by queue times). Assuming a standard 50% W/L rate and 100 in-game rank points per game, you’d be getting (1500/win)2 + (500/loss)2 + (100pts/game)*4 = 4400 rank points per hour.

134,500/4200 = 30.5 hours to go from R5 to R30.

Now, assuming that the OP is a God and wins every game, you’d be getting (1500/win)4 + (100pts/game)4 = 6400 points per hour

134,500/6400 = 21 hours to go from R5 to R30.

So, the only way the OP could have ever made it from R5 to R30 within the span of a day is if he literally played without sleep for the entire day, only stopping to take bathroom and eating breaks, and won virtually all of this matches.

Based on this logic, we can safely conclude that the OP is a God and has an infallible understanding of all aspects of the game, including balance…right?

In addition, it sounds 100%, definite, without-a-doubt reasonable that someone who dominates every single game would post messages raging and moaning about game balance…..right?

Well over 20k damage on a single button press at 1200 range on a 3 second cooldown is obviously totally broken. I don’t know what Anet was thinking but it made me stop playing my main class in pvp.

The skill hits 3 times. 9k + 7k + 5k = 21k and that’s just for a normal hit, I got hit for 14k once, with 2 other targets it can get near 25-28k total damage with full might stacks.

I’m not sure you’re serious about this.

The only way you would get 21k damage would be to superspeed through every sweet spot of CoR and get hit WILLINGLY 3 times.

You are also either lying about your damage values or you are taking them from a debuffed target.

CoR on a target with no vuln will take

3k-melee ( when hit from the side with the lifesteal trait, otherwise it’s around 2.7k)

4.5k mid ( Or 4.1k without the lifesteal damage)

5.3k max range (OR 4.7k without lifesteal)

Constantly had 3-4 might stacks, target had no vuln.

Got the added 7% damage bonus for having fury and 5% damage bonus from runes of strength.

I’ll ask again.

Cor is aoe cone huge dmg, 2 sec cd. Easy spammable.

you forgot to mention this skill is.
Avoidable by side stepping
doesn’t go up any type of vertical platform(doesn’t go down either)
and does crap damage at melee range

UA is 5 attacks while avoiding all.

I’m not going to repeat the long list of counters to UA again.
I’m tired of repeating things to people who just want to stay bad at the game
