Why should players be punished for something a gold seller is doing? If this is the reason that shouldn’t be the players problem.

What’s your suggestion of a workaround, given the circumstances?

I don’t get paid to police this or any other game so solutions for dev issues isn’t my problem nor should they be any other customer/players problem.

Your missing his point all together. Your just whining and complaining without anything useful or resourceful to say. Small guilds are complaining sure but how useful was the vault transport in the first place? Far as I am concerned as a GM I never actually used one cause I never saw the need for one. Such as my personal bank golem I never them either cause there isn’t much need for them considering you can access your bank anywhere as is.

Only one I wish I could afford is permanent merchant express due to the constant need to sell stuff while in a dungeon or field. Like someone else said earlier Anet must have had its legitimate reasons for performing this increase in the price. There was an exploit that people were using that may have been a big issue. You keep saying that it hurts the smaller guilds more when it could actually effect the larger guilds as well. By making it cost merits it prevents certain large guilds from making huge quantities of it. Maybe the exploit occurs when a guild has a built a large number of them. This would explain the drastic increase of cost cause its the only way to fix guilds from buying so many.

There is usually more then one reason for an exploit it is not always from gold farmers. We do not know the circumstances surrounding the issue at hand and even if they did tell us. Only a small fraction (less than 1% of the entire community) would be able to figure out what it means due to coding tech.

Please Explain the Logic of the AoE Limit

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Suddenflame.2601

Great pic Chronometria.. perfectly illustrates why there should be no AoE limit.

Actually it doesn’t. It doesn’t do anything at all except show a picture of the ele standing in front of a huge zerg.

The AoE limit now is fine.

You people talking about removing the AoE limit are focusing on an individual basis.

Somewhere there was a mention of a 50 man zerg. Well, if you have 10 ele’s, then you get the AoE you’re looking for. 1 person with AoE can affect 5 people, that’s awesome.

There’s a bad illustration of AoE in zerg v zerg in this thread too.

If there is a 25 v 25, and group A has 5 ele’s, then you’ve got AoE for the entire group B.

Group A’s 5 ele’s could put up 5 static stun fields, and then boom, you’ve stunned the entire enemy zerg.

I see this happen all the time in WvW, especially on choke points. Just the other day a group of us around that 25 man size tried to approach an enemy group around the same size that was on our outer walls. We all had to go up some stairs to get to them. Ele’s placed static fields on the stairs and then our zerg wiped from AoE’s. We even tried a second time with stability and even though we got farther along we still wiped from AoE.

In that scenario we couldn’t attack and avoid the AoE at the same time. AoE is perfectly fine, in the open field people walk around AoE but when used in proper choke points it only takes a few ele’s to destroy or deny a small zerg.

But against a super zerg, you can’t ask for too much. If it’s 5 ele’s against 60 people, you should lose. I don’t care how skilled you are, there is a point where numbers have to have some measure of importance.

I agree with your statement. The limit is fine. If an ele was allowed to use a static field or a slow on an entire zerg through a choke point of if 5 eles just stood at a choke point casting 5 meteor showers and stun them that would reduce numbers to nothing.

Plus your forgetting 1 other important thing. If given unlimited the larger zerg would always win cause they would have a huge amount more AOE that would instantly wipe any smaller group. At this current moment the smaller group could escape with only losing about 5 but if 1 ele could place it just right he could deny them all and poof they are all dead.

RebelYell is correct that is many different teams. Such as there are teams working on expansion packs, but they aren’t the same teams that produce the live content. Dungeon teams are also different. There is probably over 300 people working on the content for this game and I would guess only about 50 people worked on this content maybe a bit more.

Similar they are not. I already said that light/medium/heavy is different and can not be compared and explained why. Let me explain it again. Armor is limited to your class and at no point can you wear that other class of armor. Recipes are also different. You can only learn 1 recipe at a time, and you can not force yourself to learn it again. They are not the same thing as a ring that you are already wearing and can take off and reapply at any point.

EDIT: As for your comment on deductive reasoning, I can understand your point, but like your kindness in asuming that I understand it, you also assume that people are as good in figuring out stuff as you yourself are. As noble as that outlook on life is, the reality is sadly, not quite so. For example, I’ve recently had to explain to a guildie of mine why his ascended gear didn’t protect him from agony. Which makes perfect sense to us, but to him, ascended equalled agony resistance. You could argue that players should just fall on their faces, and then learn from it. You could also argue that you should try and help players understand the game. I think we just have different views there.

I said I will assume you know not everyone. I work at Wal-Mart as a cashier I see a ton of idiots every day. (fyi: In University for Computing Science so Wal-Mart not my end career). People should fall on their faces to learn the hard way, but they should also learn from other people’s experiences. People need to learn the hard way on certain things. Anet has made it already possible to buy an ascended item equip it than unequip it and re-equip it to another character. Adding a message would be redundant considering its account bound on acquire and does not switch to soul bound (not sure about rings, but it does not on amulet nor accessories). So adding a message that states you already have one equipped when it does not matter is pointless.

If rings are different from the other 2 than it should just be changed to match amulets and accessories. A message is not needed at all. As well back pieces are account bound and not soul bound making once again a message to be pointless.

The similarity would lie in the output. The coding behind it may be a bit more tricky, I’ll grant you that.

Thing is, the tooltip already does an automatic ‘gear check’ by also showing your currently equipped item. That ‘gear check’ could maybe be utilized to compare both items, and display a warning if they’re both the same, unique item.

Sure, it wouldn’t warn players having the item in their inventories or banks. But seeing as that most players equip their ascended stuff as soon as they get it, it would be a big step in the right direction.

Output is also would not be the same considering that armor class output and the learned recipe output is automatic prohibition of input. Whereas this is input acceptance and prohibition. Underlying code is way different as well which you have agreed. Yes they could do utilize the gear check if the gear check was programmed right but writing a message to the screen is 1000 times more costly than a single if statement comparing the 2.

You can not compare the two. Cause light/medium/heavy are of different classes and are using that class to limiting factor. Basically if your wearing light you can never wear the other 2. Its a restriction set by the servers that they implemented. Any class can wear any ring but only 1 of that type of ring. In coding wise these 2 things are completely different and must be treated differently. Plus by adding your message people do not learn to read or think. Nor does it help the OP considering he bought it with laurels and no message would ever be created for that considering it would be confusing.

If see the tooltip for armor you cannot wear, you get a message.
If you see the tooltip for a recipe you already know, you get a message.
If you see the tooltip for an unique ring you have already equipped…what’s the harm in displaying a message?

As Red Falcon stated, unique doesn’t always mean that in every MMO, and not everyone that plays Guild Wars 2 is a MMO veteran. If anything, even if you disagree with the solution, ArenaNet has already set a precedent by adding the message to other, similar cases. It’s not unreasonable to ask them to do so again now.

edit: To Red Falcon’s and your post you don’t have to be an MMO veteran to figure this out. Deductive reasoning would allow people to figure out quickly on their own. If I have to explain how you could easily use deductive reasoning I will, but I am going to be kind and assume that you know how. As well its not just MMO’s that use “Unique” equip items in their systems. A large number of single player games have the same system.

Ok, let’s approach this in a different way:

When playing a scholar character, you get a warning message on medium and heavy armor indicating that your profession can’t wear it. Would it be too much to ask to add a similar message when you’ve already got said unique item equipped?

You can not compare the two. Cause light/medium/heavy are of different classes and are using that class to limiting factor. Basically if your wearing light you can never wear the other 2. Yeah, it’s more than clear that you don’t understand the difference between “account bound” and “soul bound.”

It’s also clear that you don’t understand you can have a unique soul bound and a unique account bound item.

How about this then:
The unique aspect of items could use a mechanic that restricts players from buying more of the same item if they already have that item equipped, in their inventory, or in their bank.

Clear now?

That system is not wanted or needed. For instance my one character could be holding 10 of the same unique ring and I could just be holding them for the sake of holding them. The rings could be used by my alts. Your system would prevent that and prevent their use by alts. The only system that would work is the system that is already in place. Its not Anets fault if people can not use logic correctly or deductive reasoning or actual reading skills.

Until you know what they mean by “unique” the term does not convey any particular meaning on it’s own. In fact, they use unique in a non-standard way.

A unique items means one of a kind. These items are not unique. They are plentiful.

The rings are not unique in the world. Everyone can have one. They are not unique for an account, each character can have one. They are not even unique for a character, one character can obtain several (but only wear one at a time).

I’ve never seen anyone use the term “unique” to mean you can only wear one at a time — ever.

A better system you be to have each slot be unique. Have left handed rings and right handed rings. No one complains that they can’t wear two hats at once. That’s because the UI is intuitive.

The ascended stuff is not.

Diablo 3 and almost every game that uses “unique”, means that only 1 unique item of the same kind can be equipped. I have played so many games that when Unique pops up I know exactly to what it is trying to convey. GW2 is not using the word in a unique way.

The death of Zhaitan (revisited)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Suddenflame.2601

Suddenflame.2601

When the next Elder Dragon is introduced, he needs to do something INCREDIBLE that shakes the very foundations of the game map. Imagine if, should Kralkatorrik be next, he swoops through Ascalon and mounts a full-scale assault on Ebonhawke, decimating the Vanguard and turning the entire city in to a shell of Branded nightmare. Survivors of the attack escaped through the Asura Gate to Divinity’s Reach, but with no surviving technicians to properly close it, the Branded pour out in to the streets and annihilate half of Divinity’s Reach before the Seraph manage to build up defences to keep them at bay from the centre and western areas of the city. The next instanced missions would then consist of you and Destiny’s Edge pushing through the forces of the Branded in an attempt to shut down the gate and protect Divinity’s Reach for good before making your moves against the dragon from northern Ascalon. But before this, the Personal Story mission after Zhaitan’s defeat is a case of you visiting Ebonhawke after reports of disturbing activity that has driven away even the Separatists. You then witness Kralkatorrik’s form first-hand, his IMMENSE stature towering over the city like an ant to a magnifying glass. With one sweep of his tail, buildings collapse, screams echo, Vanguard flee, completely unprepared. An officer yells in your ear to run for your life, and as you sprint to the gate, the walls of the city are crashing down around you, until you jump through the gate, seemingly to safety. But of course, you have to continue to retreat as the Branded follow you through the streets of Divinity’s Reach, civilians running in all directions in complete and utter panic. Logan and Seraph manage to secure a perimeter around Rurikton before it gets completely out of control, and there’s where it really begins.

That’s quite literally something I came up with only five minutes ago on the top of my head. We NEED to see the dragons as an ACTUAL threat.

One major flaw to your thought is you didn’t research the lore behind the Ebonhawk asura gate. It opens duing 1 time of the day and only for a short bit of time. As well without the technicans trying to keep it open it would collapse on itself. Unlike the asura gates in LA, the divinity and Ebon hawk asura gate is highly unstable due to the extreme distance. Great idea but doesn’t fit lore wise.

WvW, End of Culling and PVE?!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Suddenflame.2601

Suddenflame.2601

The most troubling thing with this whole culling fix is an admission by the devs that they released a game that was not ready and or fully tested.

This whole culling system should have been figured out and resolved well before release. Now they are hinting that system requirements and or system performance might be different (lower).

How could this problem not have been noticed before release?

It was noticed and put into effect by Anet to limit amount of your bandwidth being taken by the game. Basically, it was Anet trying to take the stress off of players computers. They couldn’t find a fix that would allow them to prevent player based culling so they are going to throw more on the client side. Which now means player based culling will occur but its now your hardware fault and not Anet limiting you in WvW.

WvW, End of Culling and PVE?!

Suddenflame.2601

When I read the article about culling being gone there were only two thinks I did not like. “culling off completely IN WvW” so not in PvE.

And “(except those using invisibility skills, of course)” well it’s time for them to go as well.

So Thnx for giving some information about the PvE part however I would like it is the answer was ‘yes thats also gone’ in stead of ‘later’.

btw I am not sure why the created of this post only noticed since January, the problem has been there for a long time. Especially with vertical difference. You can maby see whats 10 meters in frond of you but you can’t see what is 3 meter above or below you. We did some jumping puzzle events with the guild and that was almost impossible to do.

Another way to see this culling is to go to Divinity’s Reach and then in the long street the go’s down towards the exit jump down on one of the balconies. There are then roads above you and below you that you can see but you can’t see anybody on them. You can understand that for doing multiple guild-events this is very bad.

Your referring to PVE and they are aware of it and working on it. They also known about it a lot longer than January considering that the culling your referring is what they put in. They limit the amount of data streaming through your bandwidth form the game to ensure that your system (and others) are capable of handling it. They are currently working on a fix for PVE, but you have to give it more time. PVE is by far larger and more potential for things to go wrong. Invisibility skills are also part of thieves builds and design.

-snip-

-snip-

And these two have demonstrated precisely why I’m concerned. Because people are going to use this as an excuse to blame people’s computer specs instead of the game.

Sorry, but if the computer fulfills the minimum specs advertised for this game, then they have the right to a reasonably functional playing experience, no matter how “low end” you consider their computer to be. Ideal? No, but reasonably good? Hell yes. Otherwise the minimum specs are too low.

And if this fix isn’t actually getting rid of culling even on low end computers, then it shouldn’t be advertised as “the end of culling”.

My comp isn’t too bad in terms of specs, so I suspect I won’t have much of a problem. But I have a feeling that, come patch day, we’re going to see yet another big debate in this forum: this one between players who have lower specs and aren’t getting the “end of culling” experience they were promised, and apologists who will say it’s somehow their fault for buying a computer that only “barely” meets the game’s minimum specs.

Any logical person would realize that it is not truly the end of culling, the same as when a politician says that is going to be the end of a war. Computers that meet the bare minimum will still be able to play but as stated they will run on the bare minimum and won’t even be good at it. In some games such as Battlefield 3 if you have bare minium you can’t even play the game due to Punkbuster kicking you all the time or the mod kicking you for lagging so bad. Minium or refers to the minium specs needed to run the game without it crashing on opening. It does not refer to anything about actually playing the game.

Why there's no LFG 7m after launch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Suddenflame.2601

Suddenflame.2601

Actually I don’t know of a single game that had a lfg system at launch… They mostly add them later.

And there is no need, your blind rage and hatred for the efficient, effective, simple, and convenient lfg tool available doesn’t make it any less of those things.

The automobile windshield wiper was a needed feature on cars. Now it comes standard on all modern cars. I can’t remember the last time I saw an automobile manufacturer say “This new model doesn’t have windshield wipers, but take this rag and hold it out the window and wipe it off when it rains. We’ll design the wipers at some point in the future and install them then”.

If this seems ok to you as a consumer, I’d like to build and sell you your next house.

Because it works. They didn’t even have official forums for ages because it was provided by the community, you don’t need to make redundant things.

This leaves me speechless…..

Lots of people can afford cars. Lets look at Aircraft shall we. When buying an aircraft you buy the body not the engines. Engines are not included on the aircraft when you buy them. I hope you realized that part. Going back to your car idea, the manufacture of the car does not make the windshield wipers for the car. They buy them from somewhere else. Also, the manufacture is also not the same person who sells you the car.

In the context of this game gw2lfg.com is the windshield wipers, Anet is the manufacture and NCsoft is the dealer. Anet is not responsible for the LFG tool based on your example due to the manufacture not the one who makes windshield wipers making NCsoft the one who should have included it.

I just logically broke down your entire example and determined it does not work in this situation. What would have been a better example is an AC in a car. Cause it is the responsibility of the manufacture and they were responsible for giving a faulty AC. Without the AC the car still works but it is annoying that it doesn’t work when you need it.

WvW, End of Culling and PVE?!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Suddenflame.2601

I have concerns about this post.

Mainly because it doesn’t actually sound like culling has been “eliminated”. It just sounds like you’ve found a way to shift most of the burden of how culling is implemented onto the player’s own PC. The “options” presented in that post really heavily imply that the player is going to be expected to figure out how high (or low) their own graphical settings will allow them to go. For example, someone with very high end specs may be able to put their culling limit high (50 people or more), whereas people who are only slightly above the game’s min specs will have to drop their culling limit much lower or else play the game with nameplates only. And, at least to me, that doesn’t suggest culling is gone, only that you’ve found a way to make the player decide how much culling they want to put up with.

I hope I’m wrong but I can’t shake the feeling that something is very wrong with the way this has been presented. Culling really isn’t something that just switches on and off. And this post seems to imply that, rather than culling actually being removed, players will be expected to pick how much or how little culling they want to experience. And I’m pretty sure most people would rather not have any. So I think this may end up not being the wonderful “death of culling” that it’s being presented as….but hopefully I’m wrong.

Every game has culling issues, but they all place it on the players computer. Anet started off trying to limit it themselves, but that proved too problematic cause of size of battles. So yes they are shifting the burden of culling on to the players computer setups and bandwidth, but that is the same as every game already. Such as WoW does this already, and if you don’t set up correctly on your computer you will notice huge lag and invisible enemies. It is impossible to get rid of 100% of culling due to latency issues and rendering issues. The only thing that can be done is Anet is throwing the entire limiting factors that control amount of bandwidth used away in WvW.

Disappointed with ingame attitudes

I was one of the first people to hit lvl80 and enter Orr (I had that weekended off early start weekend). I am one of the people who sees an event and will go over and complete it just for the sake of completing it. I do not care about the rewards or dragons or anything like them. Such as Jormag my guild tells when he appears and everything but yet I never go to him. I think the entire time I have been playing I only been to him 5 times.

Some people need an alterative motive to do something which makes me question their basic character. I worked at Wal-Mart for over four years now (due to university), and the same aspects of the game apply. A large number of people will not do something just for the sack of being nice or a good guy. A large number of people would accept a bribe or blackmail, all for the promise of money. Look at the number of lawsuits each year over some of the stupidest things that could be settled outside of court.

Another great example is how many people were complaining about loot drops or didn’t do events just cause of the amount of effort needed for the loot. I do not play a game for the loot cause I am not greedy hearted. I play the game for a challenge. So when everyone was complaining about Orr about how they couldn’t run through, I was the one clearing the path for the people and taking on the events by myself.

Now days I been getting bored just cause everything challenging is being nerfed. Such as Orr having its population and respawn timers nerfed to hell. Doing events for the sake of doing them is what should happen. I agree with the OP.

People you do realize if your being put into an overflow server on your home server it is not because of guesting. As Anet has stated in the Patch notes that home server people have right away over guests. And Guests are therefor more likely to be in the overflow servers.

I guess it is my own stupid fault but I was 25 salvages away from completing my monthly achievement and was going to finish this evening but got screwed because it resets at 16:00 US PT, which is the same time as the daily reset, but is STILL THE DAY BEFORE March! Just a public service announcement warning others to make sure to get your monthly achievement items done before the last day of the month!

Your fault dude really i completed my monthly a long time ago. Its been this way for a long time and wont change.

I don’t get why this thread was posted only a week away from the release after you’ve already built the content and have made public announcements about it. Why not present an idea to the community before you build it? This way the community will play a larger role in the creative process and thus it will be generally more satisfied with the content. You can make it clear that all ideas are theory only until decided on by development teams so expectations and demands don’t get overwhelming. As it is now, it feels like anything I could suggest to change or add would be in vain.

Cause if they did that you would try to demand it be released the next week when it would actually be months before you would see that content. Other companies have tried what you suggested and every single one of them do not do it anymore cause of people demanding it.

Would it be ok if I said Skritt Burglar? I don’t want to be hunted down or anything

Unique event? check.
Spawns from a chest? check, but it’s not a large chest
Can be found in low level zones and high level zones? check.

I’m just kidding. It’s been confirmed to be on a list somewhere in the 14 pages of speculation and it isn’t one that has been farmed to death.
10 people @ 7 months for RNG
20 people @ 3.5 months
40 people @ 1.75 months
80 people @ .9 or whatever
160 people constantly farming it for 2 weeks should get one maybe
If anyone is on Maguuma hit me up for farming it, I’ll be in wayfarer foothills.

Ruled out it was added later on and not at the start of the game. This staff has been in the game since the very start. So any new content is automatically disqualified.

Home Instance suggestions

in Suggestions

Posted by: Suddenflame.2601

Suddenflame.2601

Home instances so far have no real purpose beyond your personal story. Sure as the story progresses new shops appear in it that no one really buys from. I suggest that the shops in your home instance should provide on your level unique items. Items that appear are directly connected to the personal story line that you choose and all starting questions. This will ensure people will want to do their story quests as well offer unique rewards for choosing different paths.

For example:

Choosing lost sister event and completing it is directly effected by your family status (noble, common, street). Your sister will then appear in your home instance in your status location. Your sister would then offer special equipment such as:
Noble
*royal armour (light/medium/heavy)
*royal weapons

  • Noble town clothing

Commoner

  • armour
  • weapons
  • commoner town clothing

ect.

This list could go on what could be done to improve it

Thieves Invisible WvWvW

Thieves in WvWvW need to be fixed or something cause no way should they be allowed to hit 13 times while remaining completely invisible. (i know they hit 13 times cause i started blocking and 13 blocks came up). This is not the first time this has happened and not just to me either. They need a fix so that they appear when they hit like they are supposed to! Not 13 hits later and this is during a time when there isnt many people playing like the largest group is like 15 people. So culling would be at a minimum (or i hope it would be).

I can give multiple reasons (some/all of which have been stated already) of why having a healer in GW2 is a bad idea.

http://gw2101.gtm.guildwars2.com/global/includes/images/en/dynamic-events-comic.jpg

  1. It is advertised as a game without distinct roles so to differ from that would cause legal cases (comics are still up displaying Anets view on Healers.)

What happened to the no grind philosophy?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Suddenflame.2601

Randulf, actually i said that GW 2 alienated most of the GW 1 playerbase is based off my knowledge, my friends, and the players i talked with. The overwhelming majority disliked the path GW 2 is going down.

And yes, you do good dmg, but someone with the ascended gear will outdamage a equally skilled player. Im a min maxer, i look at the numbers, and the numbers tell me that ascended gear will make me stronger and thats pretty much a fact. So tell me why shouldnt i rather pick someone with ascended gear over someone without? In GW 1 if someone had to switch roles and was playing GW for longer than a couple of months, he could do so in a matter of minutes. In GW 2 its a matter of months now.

Lets say i just geared my warrior with full prec pow crit% gear. And now someone wants me to play a condition dmg tanky build. Well i have to do dailies for 20 days and 1 monthly and 20 lvl 10 fractal runs just so i can swap the gear.

And no, im not satisfied with , its just a minor boost. Its flat out better gear.

In all honesty how often do you face someone equally skilled as yourself? I play in WvW a fair bit and i can honestly say that i am more skilled then a large number of players. Skill > Gear. I would pick someone who has more knowledge and skill than a dumb kitten with ascended gear. My lvl13 mesmer in WvW was kicking full exotic lvl80s behinds just cause i knew how to use my mesmer. Sure it took me longer to kill them but in the same note i still killed them.

I have never once been asked to change my build and GW2 made it harder to change your build as well (having to go to a retrainer) which deters people from doing it. If your so focused on getting ascended your missing the entire point of why Anet made it a time sink. The made it for that exact reason! So i say congratz Anet your time sink idea is working.

In my opinion, anything and everything that is a part of GW2 is fair game for dailies and monthlies.

So, you’d be okay with having to craft a legendary as part of a monthly, say? I mean, legendaries are part of the game and there’s got to be plenty of players that could manage to craft a legendary if given a whole month. lol

Why be lazy?

Cause Legendary Weapons were meant to be made in a time span of years to Anet. So if they dont think some casual can do it in a month then it wont be placed in that time span.

Magnificent Chest is higher then Glorious Chest which means Magnificent Chest should be considered the large chest while Glorious chest isn’t.

Magnificent Chests are smaller than Glorious Chests are they not.

No they are larger and rarer then the Glorious Chest.

The Glorious Chest is what spawns after the temple events in Orr, and I’m pretty sure it was a Glorious Chest at the end of The Lost Shores event. I can’t imagine the Magnificent Chest at the end of The Mad King’s Clocktower was indeed bigger.

I also have to say that it would be impossible for them to share the same loot tables if the chest at the end of The Lost Shores event was in fact a Glorious Chest.

Edit: I would also like to add that following the links you provided, shows that Magnificent Chests spawn at the end of jumping puzzles and not after boss encounters.

Not entirely true if you look at where it does spawn.
Fractals of the Mists
*
Volcanic Fractal – If all Captives are saved

It also is the chest that they use for special events. Volcanic Fractal is a boss fight.

Caledon Forest
*
Sandycove Beach – End of Spekks’s Laboratory

Is also a fight before you are able to get to the chest.

You got to read the wiki a little before you say things lol.

Spekk’s Laboratory is a jumping puzzle. I do believe the chest is already spawned upon entrance, you just need to finish the fight to access the chest.

You have one valid point and that’s the Volcanic Fractal and that is just one exception to the rule which came to exist after Final Rest was confirmed to be in the game which excludes it from being the location the developers hinted at.

Either way we’re not looking for Magnificent Chest.

Not all bosses and encounters chests have been documented so you cant rule it out either.

And how do you know this?

Cause i am one of the few people working on the wiki and know for certain that there is a kitten ton of information missing. Such as just this week i added 10 new locations to find pets. Also in this last 2 months i added 4 events that were not documented at all.

I know that in order to get exotic unique drops from chest, you need to be 80. I have yet to check hydra queen because it has been bugged on my server. I think we should look at areas that this item would fit.
1. Ascalon
2. Orr
3. Select areas in kryta
4. Dwarven areas.

The event you type of only spawns a Glorious chest. The chest must be unique for this staff to appear.

Are we absolutely sure it has to be a unique chest?

Glorious chests have never been location bound and seem to share the same loot table. Only 2 types of chests have shown to have Unique loot tables. Magnificent Chests and Unique named chests.

Well I was gonna suggest Gort’s Treasure Chest since its a unique named one, but he isn’t really a boss (even though he is large).

I wouldn’t go so far as to call the brother large. I mean, he’s got a size problem. What’s the guy to do? He’s a giant.

Which we can’t kill to further the giant slayer achievement… Too few giants exist.

I’m pretty sure the unique named chest dropped by the Megadestroyer in Mt. Doom is out as well, right? That place/area wouldn’t be a suitable location to look for the staff, I don’t think.

mmmmmm was going to suggest Megadestroyer but it appears that it should have been found by now if it was there. The Catacombs run only spawns a Glorious Chest which means its not unique and shares the same loot table.

Well that and its not “open world” (Catacombs that is).

Zho Catacombs is in the open world and only spawns a Glorious Chest which rules it out completely as it is not unique and shares a loot table with other Glorious Chests. Its a gargolye staff so i wouldn’t rule it out completely from the Megadestroyer just due to the fact that it lava and stone tend to work together lol.

Megadestroyer spawns ancient trasure if I remember correctly. It could br related but it still bugs me that you would have to be 80 to get it in lower lvl zones, i doubt ANet would make such limitation to players, it would be discriminative for lower lvl players that are almost 80.
Also, glorious chest could be interpreted as large chest. Perhaps item is location bound only for that glorious chest.

LOL you edited it. I would suspect that they wouldn’t force an area condition on a Glorious chest considering they have not done it with any other Glorious Chests. For the sake of showing something. Magnificent Chest is higher then Glorious Chest which means Magnificent Chest should be considered the large chest while Glorious chest isn’t.

you would be correct. The Megadestroyer is the only creature to spawn the Ancient Treasure chest. Which also makes it a candidate for the Final Rest. Zho Catacombs only spawns a Glorious Chest which is not unique and therefor disqualifies it from containing Final Rest.

Forsaken Halls is out since it was added after release of the game. Its in a location that has been in the game the entire time. So we can start removing places based on the date they were added (not their achievements mind you). We can also rule out any places where they changed the chests (they did it to many JP and mini-dungeons). So making a list of any places that got those changes would mean we elimated some from the ever long list lol.
