farming world bosses (doing every single world boss every day).
That’s not farming. That’s doing a broad variety of different events: what some people might call, “casual play”.
Here’s the problem in a nutshell. No developer can make content fast enough for content locusts.
Especially if they keep on making new temporary content. Sure, the current content locusts may not be appeased for long with new permanent content, but any new content locusts who swarm into the game would have more and more and more content to devour (thus slowing them down) if the new content added along the way was not temporary.
There is no excuse for (non-seasonal) temporary content.
They’ve already hinted here that it’ll be changed into a fractal. Worry-thee-not.
Colin will there ever be a part of Fractals that allow us to play a recap of old content?
Stuff like that would be a win-win for those who want Fractals and others who long to play older stuff as well. When I said we could update or change an existing dungeon, updating fractals in the future is one of the options that’s fully possible yes. And of course since fractals lets us experience moments trapped in time….it’s entirely possible some content may make its way there as part of a living world update.

I love the eye idea, but I really don’t like these. I hope they’ll be Black Lion Chest only.
Should the material promotion method be reworked?
As we all know, the method of material promotion is very expensive, complicated and rarely worthwhile (There are thousands of tier 5 materials piling up in the market at rock bottom prices).
Is it;
- time to adjust the method of item promotion to make it more feasible (i.e. cheaper), or
- irrelevant how the method is changed because the market will always make material promotion expensive.

This is Ian Boyd, the respected and humble master strategist of GW1
A quote from the link you provided…
Ian Boyd, self-announced Master Strategist, has never played Guild Wars
[..]No one knows if he is real or just someone joking
I lolled.
EU servers in general are imballanced check out tiers 1,7,8 and sometimes 3 and 5
A bandwagon of guilds who couldn’t hack tier 1 have landed on Ruins of Surmia and are riding up the tiers. This is why tier 8 has a pretty strong server from tier 7 in it, and soon tier 7 will have a strong tier 6 server in it and so on and so forth.
This problem has it’s roots in the economy, and the fact that money seems more plentiful at the moment (making the transfer fee seem negligible).
This topic has been posted before several times, here is one I made earlier in which I state:
TL;DR
- people are richer,
- transfers are effectively cheaper,
- bandwagoners are riding low-ranking servers up the ladder then repeating the feat,
- financial disincentive doesn’t work as intended,
- there should be a limit to transfers per year.
There was no deliberate throwing of matchup last week for the record
Not 100% true.
If the people in EB for the last couple of hours on Friday listened to me and did as I suggested (probably nobody), then they would have been having a dance party in the spawn. I doubt my team chat spam had any effect though.
I don’t care about your T7 problems. Solve that in another place.
I think we need to just get it out there: we didn’t want or try (much) to come down – we got spanked by a server that got a million transfers from t1. So our T7 problems are your T8 problems now.
(edited by Svarty.8019)
Logically, they are both, so let’s have those potions working, if you please!
Yes im sure GH will have a lot of fun this week with their obvious domination. So bad they are doing the same on AS and WSR as RoS was doing on them.
Ok so tell us now which server have you decided to focus to send in T9?
Nobody needs to go down. You just need to beat Blacktide’s score.
Props to TEO, CE and the other guild that i am missing for the brilliant fights!
I think it was CA.
I think GvG should be a new game type with rewards that can’t be used in WvW, if any.
Arenanet,
Please don’t listen to these supposed, “concerns of the community”. I can honestly tell you that it is a VERY TINY MINORITY of the population who think in these terms.
Please accept my heartiest congratulations (and commiserations) on your promotion RoF. I hope you have a wonderful week and that you enjoy being spread like a fine paste over the maps by teh RoS mega-guildzergs. Don’t believe them when they claim to be “blobs” rather than “zergs”! I truly wish you the best of luck and hope that you cause them more anguish than we were capable of doing.
WvW is meant to be about players fighting players
That is opinion, not fact.
WvW is also not even sides, and the siege weapons could help to resolve that problem. I think Arenanet should try to address the zergy problem first and this arrow cart fix seems like the start of that, with zerglings whining in their thousands in this very thread. Lulz at them.
The system should remove the siege with the highest unused timer as players drop new siege not automatically on a timer. Refreshing siege should not be a part time WvW job.
Flame rams could be the exception and simply despawn after 5 minutes of no use.
I agree with this. Great points.
Honestly, with all the whining about arrowcarts, you’d think that the zergs had been destroyed.
Come on RoF, we’re all counting on you!
Without the income from CoF 1, I think a lot of the weekly server-transfering would end.
Adapt or die. Couldnt agree more, [..]
Easy mode with a vengeance.
Easy mode too hard for you?
I am thinking that our new tactic is to just drop ACs open field and power them up anytime we meet an opposing force. Why bother with class abilities when I can just use 3 buttons?
I’ve started to see this happen already sadly.
It’s a great tactic and used to happen even before the patch.
When best tactic in a open field fight becomes building ACs, something is really wrong with game or players.
Adapt or die.

The new Molten Weapon Facilities dungeon will be available for a limited amount of time only.
Tell them to keep it permanent!
It makes logical sense that the content is temporary because we destroy the facility at the end of the dungeon run.
I feel, though, that by making it temporary and unrepeatable we are seeing a waste of resources.
Edit: Having said all of this, I remembered that Arenanet talked about Fractals being moments in time (e.g. the moments before the event described in the spoiler above happened).
(edited by Svarty.8019)
Even if there is a link, it’s not overtly-displayed throughout the content,[..] as it stands it just feels like boring filler.
I think some of the episodes in the GW1 story must have felt like “boring filler”, too, until the grand revelation near the end that it was all interconnected.
we should just sit here not play wvw, and quit guild wars 2.
Which I have no issues with anymore since ArenaNet has shown they don’t care about player opinions ever.
I have better things to do with my life than play this game if the developers feel this way.
Haha, oh my … I nearly fell off my chair.
[..]
You don’t mention why you want to move. Why do you want to move?
Also, This month’s EU bandwagon server of choice is:
Ruins of Surmia
And yet again people with alts are being punished. Instead of removing the ability to port people all the way up. They decided to nerf drops.
Why didn’t they just remove the jp all together as it serves no point now. Thank you whiners you succeeded again.
- it counts towards some daily achievements.
- you still get siege and tokens that you can buy siege with.
- now that there’s less likely to be camps, it’s possibly more feasible to double-port your guild up.
A message for both of the bloomin’ enemies!

There is a whole lot of negativity floating around these forums right now. And those folks are welcome to their opinion of course.
But let me add a positive voice to the mix. I think the WvW changes in the latest patch are a step in the right direction.
I am sceptical about your use of a positive post to ask for your own changes.
I think that rams do NOT need to do more damage. They are fine. If anything, it should be HARDER to get into an objective – at the moment it is far too easy.
I think catapults are FINE. I can’t understand your bizarre, unfounded requests with no “because” attached to them, zero reasoning whatsoever.
The rest of your post I do agree with and I, too, would like to congratulate and applaud the efforts of the Arenanet staff in tackling the problems of WvW with professionalism and courageousness in the face of a hostile playerbase.
It’s very difficult to resist reiterating an old meme beginning with “QQ”.
This chap hits the nail on the head:
The old arrow carts were a joke and all the pro-zergers know it. That’s why they’re QQ-ing so hard over this change because it means the karma trains and easy WXP just came to an end. Now, if anyone in a zerg is getting killed by an arrow cart, it’s because they refuse to adapt from their old tactic of standing at a gate spamming auto-attack and expecting to be rewarded for that action alone. The fault lies with them; not with the update.
This is clearly broken.
Arrow carts are fine. It’s your zerg tactics that are broken.
Mif is correct about this.
Arenanet should dismiss this vocal minority as the whiners they are.
Lock transfers before any ladder resets plx.
4/30 A very smart WvW patch:Increasing arrowcarts damage by 80%
1.How to defend tower or keep, very easy just build a lot of Arrowcarts
2.WvW=Arrowcarts vs Arrowcarts
3.Take one keep need 3-4 hours……and a lot of Arrowcarts
4.ARENANET=ARROWNET
Hyper hyperbole!
5. The WvW rank system is terrible and boring. Many other mmos have pulled this off correctly and successfully. The current system is bland and doesn’t allow for further character development in WvW.
The reason the ranking system is borked is … transfers. Again.
With very little to buy, particularly for dedicated WvW players, people are feeling wealthy at the moment and so transfers are relatively cheap. Numerous guilds are regularly server-hopping. This upsets the ladder system and makes it impossible for it to settle down.
Solution: limited server transfers per year. It should definitely happen if the ladder system is to remain in place.
Looks like RoS definitely won’t move up to tier 6 this week
LAZINESS! Slack, slack RoS, clearly can’t hack it in the higher tiers and want to bully us even more. It’s lazy, it’s weak and it’s a shame on their server. Pathetic!
I think people will slowly come to understand that this change is GREAT for weaker servers, and evens matches up a bit.
Rams need a buff now with arrow cart buff. Even superior rams are useless now. Rams need at least 100% more life and damage to be useful again.
I have three initial reactions to this proposal;
- Not sure if serious,
- No, and
- -1.
Nice Blob GH is running in EB atm cheers guys you made the game less fun for the rest of the night.
That is the game. Like it or lump it. Also, we were forced together by RoS in the first place. We were doing small group stuff until giant zergs from Vcy and RIOT arrived.
(edited by Svarty.8019)
Arrow carts are now waaay to powerful now. They were powerful enough before. 3-4 superior arrowcart on each exit from spawn and whole server is just blocked.
Lies. If the whole server game into the zone, I bet you could get into those carts.
Wow… so make it so you can pass siege across characters at the same time as making it so you can’t do the puzzle to acquire siege on multiple characters. You guys are kinda paranoid about exploits, huh?
Arenanet really screwed up with this patch they are about to lose a huge amount of players.
Frankly, I would endorse Arenanet’s quite justified response if it were akin to, “Arrowcarts are fine. Cya quitter, don’t let the door hit you in the kitten on your way out!”.
[..]
Seems hypocritical to me.
These new arrow carts are ridiculous. And with the range buff, its hard even to know where the arrows are coming from.
The response will be trebbing the snot out of everything before going in. It will be a protracted turtlefest.
You over-did-it on the arrow carts Anet.
As intended.
The new arrow carts change nothing except that smaller numbers of defenders can defend against close-ranged attackers.
Great change.
We are in the process of trying to get the JP to not exert pressure on the queue for EB or the population of the map. Once we’ve finalized our solution, you will hear about it.
If one side wants to put lots of people in the jumping puzzle, it reduces their effectiveness on the battlefield – I think this is a good compromise and that your solution sounds as though it would be detrimental to the ongoing battle.
everytime someone ask “Is there port in JP?” I will reply with “Yeah, there’s Tokyo, Osaka …”
This gag smells worse than the port itself.
How about this condition? Gives 25 stacks each of all boons (adjust to be simply “many boons” if you prefer) to enemy until purged/timer runs out.
This gives both sides a dilemma:
- The boons make them very susceptible to warrior boon hate/thief boon stealing.
- Makes the enemy very very powerful, but if they cure the condition, they lose all the boons.
(edited by Svarty.8019)
Great editing. +1
IF you spec it. What guardian can’t do that? lol
And thus we come to a point that we can all agree on: All guardians are more-or-less forced to spec for bunker because of their non-existent hit point pool.
Because Guardians are forced to go bunker, they are also more-or-less forced into boon-heavy builds. Making it so that they die more easily to thieves and warriors and necromancers won’t incentivise guardians to try other specs because they still lack the hit points to make it work.

Trinity is actually a very stupid design. A tank that just stands there and soak damage? I thought bosses should be able to easily slaughter tanks.
I think bosses are a stupid design. What’s so special about them that they managed to obtain immunity from crowd control in exchange for having to stand in the same room until the end of time?
IMO, organising GvG is an indicator of awfulness. I prefer organic open world battles where allies and mobs from either side can swing the fight. That’s why we like three-way battles in the first place, right?
Hmmm no. I dont play WvW for mobs , npcs or allies to gain or take the “glory”. I play WvW , because its the only place that i can enjoy the fights with ma guild, cause i <3 open fields fights and iam looking forward to face strong guilds in fair fights. Organizing GvG gives you same numbers, all participants are ready and prepared and no 3rd factor(npc-ally-siege-numbers etc) can ruin your fun fights:)
Hmm… it sounds as though you’re not happy to play in a WvW environment at all and would much prefer enormous capacity sPvP arenas.
Svarty, in my opinion, avoiding GvG is an indicator of awfulness(and not the other way around) ,cause you are hiding behind any “3rd factor” as i previously stated
I’m not interested in your Guild v Guild. It’s a WvW game and GvG is something the play base has generated. Perhaps that should become a thing of it’s own (which I can ignore and you can take your guild to, instead of WvW).
