It should be called “Evade 15 mobs” instead of dodge, as evasions are all that will move the count.
You can dodge all the time to avoid damage, but it seems only near misses count as evades. I get hit more timing the evade chance for the update rather than just dodging normally
Know what, I’m sick of people telling me how much MY chars loot, when I am the one playing them, and know.
1300+ posts. But WE. I’m stupid, and don’t even know what my own chars loot, or how much they loot. It’s like the guy who told me I wasn’t getting loot, soloing, because I wasn’t tagging the mob.
I deleted my posts. No point. I give up. I make 5834 gold per day, and mobs catapult loot at me when zone in. Nothing in game is overpriced, I roll in gold like Scrooge McDuck. I don’t have t3 cultural simply because I can’t rip my grind happy, basement dwelling, no life, no fun, instant gratification entitled self away from looting long enough to buy it cause I might miss a porous bone.
Happy Now?

I think the “don’t get ridiculous” ship sailed at about the time people started shooting Rainbow Unicorns.
I may be weird, but as a SB wielding ranger, I really do want the Dreamer. Unicorns and rainbows and all.
That’s okay. It’s widely known that people differ by their tastes. Problem lies in it being the only legendary option. If there were two options for each weapon – one legendary, but more “classic”, and the other from the “over the top” cathegory, it’d be okay.
What this person said. And I’ll defend my Steel Bra Norn forever, since people can get practical, “real”, and puritan armor for their chars. I’m not above being silly, and love choices.
I’d never take your pony bow away
More choice.. not choice removed.
Come on now. The ridiculous skimpy armors for female humans and now Norns…
I actually kind of thought it was funny how my Monk’s breast size seemed to change depending on the armour set she was wearing…
Haahaaa. Or Ancient armor on a Rit.
I think the “don’t get ridiculous” ship sailed at about the time people started shooting Rainbow Unicorns.
My favorite sword in all of GW1 was the simple NF model Gladius. My favorite shield was the simple Lion shield. I won’t have to grind a Legendary, thank goodness, they are all waaay over the top for me.
Even non legendary. I know, working my WS and Hunter craft classes up, I was just appalled at the rare skins, dredge, ogre, ugh. Weapons wise I don’t have a single rare weapon I made that retains its default skin, all are muted to Kryta style or the white default appearances.
Dodge is easy….I don’t get why ppl don’t get it.
I can’t use the normal double tap to dodge cause my hands/fingers are kinda twitchy and it sometimes makes me jump off high places. Yeah…as in multiple times. Jumping puzzles…out.
But the daily is easy to me. Turn it on and get my dodges within a half hour, turn it off.
If I can do it….you can
Nope, I can’t.
I can dodge, yes. I hit a key and my toon dodges. It’s easy. The thing is, the 0/20 count or whatever the Dodge requirement is for the daily, DOES NOT CHANGE. It doesn’t work. I can’t get the count to change by dodging. Then I go back and look at it an hour later and it says 3/20. I didn’t hit the dodge key, so I don’t know why it counted three dodges because I didn’t dodge.
Maybe it’s a bug, maybe I double-tapped and dodged without realizing it. But I have not been able to finish any daily that included Dodge but I have finished every daily that does not. So I’m looking forward to actually being able to complete the daily every day.
Heh, there is “dodging” to avoid being hit, and “dodging” to proc the “evade”. I get hit a lot more by Karka timing the dodge to actually get the evade than I do just dodging em naturally without worrying that it counts. It is kind of a phony daily, it only seems to count near misses rather than just avoiding damage. Other examples, dodging charge attacks, you have to wait, dodging 100 blade idiot AI wars you have to wait, dodging excavator burrow attacks, you have to wait.
You can dodge out of damage all day and not update. It is really “Evade 15 attacks” and that is a much narrower parameter not wholly dependent on dodging.

Sounds like you are pugging. “Elites” don’t pug. Don’t inflict yourself on anyone but your peers. Find a group of superior beings and go have your perfect game time. You will be happier.
There isn’t a single set way to win an encounter, or dungeon past “did it die” at the end. There is a broad spectrum of ways to accomplish that task.
One of the most fun times I ever had in EQ2 was doing Runnyeye2 one time, our tank poofed (electric outage) and I ended up Tanking the run.. on an assassin, cause I had the most armor of those left, chain, and a roundshield in my bag. I was pretty avoidance spec anyway.. but sometimes it is fun to do things in a less than optimal manner.
Now, all that aside, after 10 years of dungeons, I just choose not to do them now. I am playing the way I wish to. 10 years of listening to class elitism (LF chain healer, no leather) playstyle elitism (LF curse necro, no MM) spec elitism (LF Buckler spec Zerk only) gear elitetism (LFG for xyz must have Fabled) for dungeons that could be done with vendor gear and a semi-awake healer.
Elitism trickles down from the content that needs it to infect the minds of people entering basic starter dungeons. The perceptions of the raid tank spec needed to win WW firsts in raid content in EQ2 infects the perceptions of people wanting a tank to run the Orc Cave in the commonlands.
And it happens here as well. People are already complaining that Mes or War get the only “group slots” when there is no proof you need either class to beat a dungeon.
I don’t care anymore.
Are you guys actually serious? You don’t want dueling because it’s “annoying”? Wow… WOW…… What, you really think you’ll get spammed with duel invites every 2 minutes of gameplay? How is it that every other MMO has this feature then, and there aren’t people clamoring to have it removed because it is “annoying”?
Because “every other MMO” does not have unrestricted dueling. One notable one being GW1.
I’ve played many games that allowed unrestricted challenge dueling. In all cases, it was a very, very thin slice of the population. Most times the serious PvP people I knew laughed at it, or dueled privately solely to check builds.
In my experience, this small population of “dewlists” had a core group that enjoyed being as annoying as they possibly could. Sometimes not actually dueling, in SWG it was popular to duel with level 1 launcher pistols, which generated insane amounts of lag, were used solely to produce that lag, and never damage each other.. Sometimes enough would get in on the act to actually cause zone crashes.
Roleplayers and people just attempting to converse were prime targets. If you asked the duelists to just move… you ended up with 6 of their guildies showing up to duel on top of you as well. Any minor difference in opinion led to the “yah, dewl meh, then” followed by the usual epithets and cat calling if someone declined to.
People will duel in any area, unconcerned of anyone else there. I don’t want this at the Trading Post, Bank, Crafting area, etc. I don’t want it in towns, period.
If it is indeed such a valuable pastime, surely it would not be an imposition to travel to a dueling venue. Make it have a free WP even.
And even if it comes in, never, ever establish KvDs, Leaderboards, track numbers in any way. Dueling kill counts and KvDs are the most cheesed statistic, in any game that tracks numbers and allows unrestricted open world dueling. Too many places to hide and exploit.
GW1 never allowed it except in Guild halls. I think it was a wise decision then, and a model to be followed IF they allow it here.
I don’t get the lack of compromise. Dueling in a venue would allow dueling, and still show some respect for people who feel it has no place in towns, banks, craft areas, etc.
But, I guess its “let me dewl anywhere, anytime, I don’t care if it annoys people, they can log if they don’t like it”
(edited by Teofa Tsavo.9863)
I loved Vabbi/Elona in GW1, and all of the snow areas. I love Frostgorge here, and the transition mountain zones like the south end of Lormars and North end of Timberline falls. The streams in timberline are done so well, like the gravelly bed streams I remember growing up in Colorado.
Well, I may see a glimmer of hope. One char of mine.. out of 7, has begun to get more drops of fines and common/blue loots, and actually greens. My others, and most importantly my 80 are still horrible, so I guess Ill be leveling my ranger.
But Champs and Vets.. no improvement at all for this char. Normal mobs only.
Actually, I find that if you have a group, champions are a great source of steady gear. It takes about 2 minutes to kill a champ and they always drop a piece of gear. Most of the time it’s blue, but you’re always rolling for a better piece of gear, and with MF you could be getting it on a few of them. Many champions have their own event anyway so you get a healthy dose of experiencce/karma/silver.
The thing is champion loot from grouping is not AMAZING so nobody does that often. If 5 people get together, somebody’s going to suggest a dungeon and then they’re off to go do that.
Edit: I haven’t come across a single champion since that loot patch that hasn’t dropped at least a blue. I don’t know what the hell people are talking about, maybe you didn’t tag them?
Gee, you must be right. I’ve soloed champions that never drop anything. I must have never tagged them. There is a huge, sticky thread full of players who don’t get loot from Champions. I killed 8 vets and the southsun Champion Reef shark yesterday, solo, and got 0 loots. I guess I didn’t tag them, eh?
The Silver I got from the champion event was not much more than collecting eggs for the chef is. Hardly a “healthy dose” of silver.

GW1 allowed Invisible log in. The fabric of the gaming world universe did not unravel.
Since my characters are by acct, and not allowed to be separate, yes, at times I wish to be invisible.
As the above poster, in other games I also had chars on separate servers, and also alts I never told anyone were me. Also female. At times I just want to get away from the attention of some, and still be able to play without rudely telling people to just go away. It avoids Drama.
Guys don’t get from guys what we do. You don’t get the “knight in shining armor” syndrome in which some otherwise Nice guy starts showing up to hold your lil helpless hand through the bad monstas. I don’t want or need help, but Knights take it very hard when told to go away.
I’ve played MMOs for 10 years, and learned some hard lessons re privacy and transparency.

I think in trying to appeal to a wider audience they have to design for the lowest common denominator. I wonder if it would be feasable as a designer to build a game that encourages players to get better at the game rather than to make thier players feel like Charlie at the Chocolate Factory.
But Anet is making it impossible for me to get the best gear the way I want to play. I should get a laurel on a repeatable daily where I kill 10 mobs as fast as I want, but don’t make it a grind! /sarcasm
What do either of these comments have to do with champions dropping loot. Nov Patch notes stated that Champions should be guaranteed to drop loot. Veterans and Champions were supposed to both drop better loot. It is reasonable for players to expect that they should, after that statement. They do not. Nothing in your rant applies to the subject. One rant does not fit all.
Have it in one location, far from anyone. If its in the world, Give me an Auto-decline duel request setting.
We don’t need it happening in the cities.
And why not? Because YOU would find it “annoying?”
For scaling purpose, for any future pvp only balances, and yes, because I know what bored duelists are capable of doing in banks, at crafting stations, on top of Roleplayers, and any other way they can think of griefing a ’’carebear". Were it up to me, I would disable all combat skills in towns, just to cut the particle and shout spam.
GW1 never had dueling, or combat spam in towns. It didn’t hurt the game at all.
Oh, and not “all” players would rejoice. IMO, dueling is a joke, and few “dewlists” ever amount to much in actual PvP. Dueling, in most cases, is getting the first hit in a challenge/accept scenario. Go someplace that puts you in PvP mode, and actually duel with a fair start.

In GW you had to invite to a GH, which were PvP zones for PvP settings on skills. That was a good system. Having a dueling area would set both level of
players and any pvp only adjustments to it.

You are kinda blind, every smart person does that, and cooking for example cost u 2 gold, in 1 day u get max lvl80.. what’s the point in that..
And talking of not having money… every single person can earn 5 gold per day, by almost doing nothing. and in compare of lvling character for like 10 days, u risk 10 gold from 1 day farm > make some craftings, and u are80.. thats kinda bull-kitecat…
I would recommend when you learn two professions, you won’t be able to get any exp on that character which would be balanced And myself i see like 5 people in starting sylvari area, ‘’players already hang out a lot’’ how i mean where did u seen that, i reroled guardian and we cant beat several events because we are leaking of people.. it’s kinda kittenty to see empty areas already after 6 months… SAD!
I quit reading at “5g per day doing nothing”. What game are you playing?
The Dailies just keep reminding me. Same score. 5 vets, actually 8 because I led a friend to a few after I got mine, 0 loot. Not bones, claws or white crap. Zero. Again.
This isn’t “perceived”
Target stores. At least my local one does.
And before anyone rails at me for lacking skilz, I have Severe RA , deformed hands, and very impaired motor skills. I probably worked harder completing normal vistas than many of you did on the hardest puzzle. I finished all up to Dredgehaunt.. and that JP just ended it for me.
Don’t get me wrong, I expect my disability to gate me from certain things. But JP should be totally optional and not required for anything else.
I hear you. There are 3 kinds of players that have trouble with JPs: Those with poor coordination/timing/depth perception, those with disabilities, and those with poor connections. I think it’s extremely unhelpful to call names or slander those folks, and it’s specifically why we try to communicate the optional nature of jumping content. As I said above, we didn’t implement this perfectly, but I wouldn’t say we failed either. We’re working in a gray area of perceptions and opinions, so we’ll never find a balance that works for everyone.
I know, I do the things I can, ignore what I can’t. I appreciate the time you took to answer. Its just that a few JP are not optional for world completion. (didn’t help that I have big Norn girls) I actually bribed my son to do a few of the trickier vistas for me, but he bowed out at Dredgehaunt, he doesnt want to do JPs for me.
(edited by Teofa Tsavo.9863)
. But after I handed the map off to someone else, I know we changed our policy so that no JPs are required for events, map complete, etc. I haven’t actually gone back to that map since launch, so I haven’t seen all the changes, but it’s possible that what you’re seeing is left overs from work I did that had to be cut. But I know that several enterprising map artists are digging around for spots to add more JPs, so I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it got reopened at some point.
Wait, no JPs for map completion? Dredgehaunt, one vista is at a JP, Tribulation Rift Scaffolding I think it is called, by the Sorrow Furnace entrance. I recall it well, since after several hours of deaths I finally realized that map or world completion was no longer important to me.
I have not even bothered with a vista since. I can’t complete the world, why try
I really wish they were standalone. And before anyone rails at me for lacking skilz, I have Severe RA , deformed hands, and very impaired motor skills. Dhuum bans were hilarious. I would love some form, but, nobody really congregates in an area to see them, like GW1 when they happened at GTOB, Kamedan, or SJM.
In addition, GW1 towns were pretty small, and a Dhuum ban was easy to see.
Underwater circle strafing.. ooo kkk. Yup, must be how I did it. Ha ha… Well, have fun with your suggestion.
Just more enemies and mobs to fight. Right. “That must be why killing young karka is the same as killing Veteran Karka and Champion Karka. All the same?”
And potshooting a few trash mobs in orr is the same as clearing the Temples. Ok…..
Just what “content” have you been doing?
I don’t need a new zone to gank trash mobs in. Challenge is in the current 80 zones, and ignored because there simply isn’t any challenge vs reward in the World loot tables.
Is this your answer to a challenge. Content that that forces you into a party. Is this how you want all new zones?
I soloed a Champion Reef Shark in Southsun, yesterday. It was plenty of challenge. Challenge for me is doing something alone that should take more people. Too bad I don’t feel the need to repeat it, as it dropped nothing. Couple of silver event payoff, no more than I get collecting eggs for the Chef there.
I’ve always felt that “biting off more than I should be able to chew” is a challenge, and there is plenty of that in this game. We just get no payoff for that. In GW1 I would try to solo bosses for the same reason.. and got higher payoffs with no party or heroes. Risk v Reward is one MMO mantra that should never be abandoned totally in my opinion.
I don’t want new zones. I want the loot table fixed for Champions and Vets, and DEs in the high level zones made attractive enough to bother with. New “high level” zones with the same abysmal challenge vs reward matrix would be just more fail.
(edited by Teofa Tsavo.9863)
I don’t pvp anymore, arthritus. I’ve played many PvP mmos over the years, generally on factioned or FFA pvp only servers. Some games had BGs.
I have yet to see PVP players stick to an mmo very long, even if given everything they wanted. Time and time again I’ve seen the PvP servers consolidated first for lack of populations. I don’t know why. I do know, among my PvP addict friends, they are the first to jump ship at the first sign of a shiney new game. EQ2 put a ton of carrots in the game to encourage PvP.. and nobody really bit, One pvp server left.
I think the business cost of making an MMO simply has to mean catering to casual PvE. They seem to be the biggest slice of the market, and have the deepest pockets. They keep mmo’s alive for years. EO1 is going to be hmm. 13 or 14 this year?
Don’t get me wrong, I am not opposed to PvP. But you cannot single it out as the sole demographic of “saving” a game, cause it won’t.
Console and MMO comparisons just don’t work
(I’ll add that I played GW1 for 4 years, still play, and have never PvP’d there. I just don’t like BGs, so, my “roots” in Anet Games have nothing to do with PvP)

Games are about overcoming challenges. Once you have the best weapons and armor, what then? Nothing
I played GW1 for 4 years with the same stat “best weapons and armor in game” I got a month in and still found challenges. I would expect the same here from the company that managed that with no vertical progress and a level cap of 20.
Temp or not, pushing the level cap up is not ‘vision’. It is everymmo and done to death.
Hard, challenging, current content in the world is left undone because there is no point doing it. Champions rarely drop loots of any kind, event payoffs are stingy compared to the time involved. I’m in level 80 zones all the time that are abandoned save for a few “loot corridors”. Nobody bothers with the harder stuff, the rewards are in Fractals.
(edited by Teofa Tsavo.9863)
How are you going to get stronger? No new traits, no new armor, no new weapons, so how? Just the default adjustments?
Have you done level 80 stuff at 60? People tried that at Lost Shores and got spanked without a group to carry them.
Since it would be a phony level 100 zone, loots would have to be capped at 80, craft nodes unchanged from 80 zones. What would be the benefit of this? I’d rather see some love given to Southsun.
It is a terrible idea.
People are not doing the harder content in the world because there is no reward for it. Having an Ersatz level 100 zone won’t cure that. Hard content has to be worth doing.
I do not recall ever running past a world boss in GW1. I always engaged them, on the off chance that I could pick up a green.
I do run past champions in this game, as the chance of them dropping a blue and 4 copper is as rare as a Boss in GW1 dropping a green. I’d rather kill trash, thanks. Trash has a better drop rate, and that is sad.
I wonder if that is the common denominator. I would also characterize my playstyle as slow and methodical. PvE, and solo.
@ ASB
I didnt buy the game at launch, I never do, so I can see what is actually there. And I saw no gear progression or indication there would be anything but horizontal progression with the same differentiation of Rare Skins as GW1.
Apparently several million copies of the game were purchased on that same knowledge. There was no indication of “vertical progression” when several million copies sold. That is the “too small to financially support GW” group?
Nobody had a clue that there would even be "fractals’ much less agony gating and progression.
So, now you are maintaining that, from what I understand, several million people bought this game in “hopes” of progression being introduced? That is novel. Buying a game on hopes that a feature you want will somehow appear.
And since the above poster referenced SWG, I cant help but see this as a Smedley, to a degree. It’s the same, we have a captive market, we got them, now lets just tweak the game a lil bit to attract a totally different crowd. And we all know how well NGE turned out, financially.

The only thing that bugs me with Fractals and progression is this.
“increasingly better rewards compounding with higher scaling difficulty”
No argument. Except, apply it to everything. There is no reason players should be walking away from defeated Champions out in the world with 0 loot, or a Porous bone to show for it as we are currently doing now.
Don’t nerf my porous bones. They are my main source of income.
I’m thinking of diversifying into crab meat, myself.
omg, ASB it wasn’t a flaw. XD
Uhm, I didn’t say I think it was a flaw. I said that ANet themselves might have looked at the low power plateau for PvE in GW1 as a flaw, judging from their(CEO’s) quote about the game having become stagnant. In the context of ANets current philosophy, stagnancy is unlikely to be something positive. What else could I have said to adequately describe ANet’s view of GW1? They didn’t want this kind of stagnancy for GW2, which in their eyes makes the lack of long term gear/stat progression in GW1 not a feature but a flaw.
You are still pushing off your own, personal opinions as being " ANet’s view of GW1’ based on one quote that was more to the order of “not being able to handle all we wanted to do” vs “stagnant”
State your opinions. Stop trying to validate them as ANet views or positions, because they are yours.
Still stating absolutes on conjecture.
And, I discovered and ended up in GW1 to escape progression, tiers, gating, all of those good things you maintain we all want. The sole reason I bought GW2 was the assumption, and their Design Manifesto, that indicated traditional MMO was not where they were going.
If I want gear progression, Ill go back to EQ2, they have done it longer and are better at it. I still play both off and on, GW being my escape and relax game.
There is a reason I am here now, and not there. Gear gating and progression being pretty big on the list.
(edited by Teofa Tsavo.9863)
First let me say that I solo, a LOT. I am slow and methodical, and because of my bad loot or “permanent DR” I hit nodes a great deal for materials so that at least I have something to show for my efforts and can sell them so I am not in the red for my playing time. (since armor repairs, waypoints, salvage kits, craft gathering tools) nickel and dime me to death every day.
Anyway…the coincidence, and I notice it in these youtube films as well. If I kill something with my first skill, (say I am lazy and do not pull out all the stops) just spamming my first attack, I will frequently come up with nothing, or junk. If I am very active in my attacks, switching my weapon, etc. My drops are better. Now granted, I rarely if ever get anything of real worth. I have played for 5 months since launch, Have the CE, and played since Beta WE1, I have never gotten an exotic drop. My only exotics I have gotten from map completion. I got my first rare 3 weeks ago. I have gotten a few more since then. My average is one every 3 or 4 days now.
I have resolved myself to never having anything on my characters for YEARS. 5 months have passed, and I am still poor, and cannot afford to outfit my second 80. I just figure this is the way the game is intended to be—-a hard uphill grind—-more like work than a game.
I do find the coincidence in skill use and drop rate to be interesting to note, because it seems it may be some kind of anti-botting mechanic.
Don’t feel all alone. I’ve got 3 alts stopped at 65 ish waiting for me to earn 6g on my main to pay for trait books.
I’m not seeing the skill spam effect. I kill karka a lot, and have to pretty actively use my skills to do so. I’d hate to see what their drop rate would be if I wasn’t using lots of skills lol.
On the other hand, I kill a lot of Cuda and Skelk underwater, which is easier and I get very lazy on skills since underwater is a snorefest for me.. and they drop a bit better.
But hey, I’m to the point if it takes one pink sock and one black one while sticking out my tongue “just so”, to up loot a little, Ill do it.
(edited by Teofa Tsavo.9863)
I saw 3 random video that “prooves” poor drops in Orr. In all of these videos i saw terrible tagging skills and in of them the player didn’t even get xp for the kills. Guys maybe you should try to be better at tagging mobs? Or maybe next time someone next to you spams “lfg” you actually group with him? I am not going to explain to you why this will help because i am sure that you won’t try it and you will continue the forum-whining. I guess bad farmers will always be bad farmers.
Go loot some Champions, pro farmer guy. You know, the ones that were “guaranteed” to drop better items, and always drop items in the Nov 15 notes.
I solo. I am pretty sure I have “tagged” everything that is dead when Im allll alone out there.
I know you. If there is a game issue, the answer is lrn2play. If there is any other issue, its ‘buy a better comp". You can’t make a forum paragraph without saying “whiners” or “try to be better at” usually followed by “im not gonna explain it to you”

According to the developers, GW1 was a stagnant game. Coupled with the fact that they never planned GW1 to have any PvE longevity heavily suggests that had they known about the number of players interested GW1’s PvE from the get go, they would have launched the game with long term gear progression.
Players with a strong preference for horizontal only progression were IMO at no point in GW1’s lifetime a target demographic. GW1’s shortcoming in terms of gear progression was a miscalculation that ANet probably deemed too difficult to fix later on, with a new campaign coming out every 6 months, each one with having to be balanced around players only having one, all or more than one campaign. Adding another big balance factor in terms of gear progression would have been reckless.
In the end, ANet never was against gear progression, it is only against forced gear grind. That never changed.
I would like to see links to any of your suppositions re gear progression in GW1 being actual statements by any Anet management.
Until then, I will assume you really can’t speak as to what Anet planned, who their target demographic was, or anything else you are claiming.
“Suggests”, ’had they known" "probably"" IMO" etc is supposition, and does not, in any way, validate an absolute statement like “ANet never was against gear progression”
It is all opinion. In my opinion. Gear Treadmill is overstating what we have right now. Fact is, we do have gear progression needed for content progression, gating by mechanic (agony), and there is nothing new or innovative in that. That is everymmo, something GW2 told us they were not going to be, by my interpretation.
It opens the gate to becoming even more “everymmo”, in my opinion.

Are you not allowed Piranha shot in PvP?
My ranger is a beast underwater compared to my other classes.
/shrug
Ha ha, I know exactly where that is. I had an unfortunate running and screaming episode there, having met the Broodmother accidently while murdering skelk. Was far too busy running and screaming to notice the cave, though.
My Ranger is 70, now I know where to go.
Lol, Runeblade, you almost got me again.
And yeah, I don’t need one. Good, because I’m the lady that can stick 4 80 rares in the mystic casino and get.. nothing. No point in even going there.
I disagree,
no grind no legendaries. What so hard about that?
Grind is one thing. Grinding for nothing but items to toss into a slot machine is as dumb as giving away precursers with purchased ingame lottory tickets.
I don’t like “kill 10 rats” Questlines, but TBH, the long, arduous questline I did In EQ2 for my Shadowknight Mythical made it the most memorable weapon I have ever acquired, in any game. The Quests were Lore filled, challenging, took me to every place in game and required me to consider faction decisions I had made, and sometimes remedy them.
Anet could do this. They did in GW1. Why should Winds of Change, or War in Kryta be more lore filled, compelling stories than achieving a “legendary” weapon in this game? As the OP suggested, completing world, completing Personal Story, completing Dungeon Story, could all be a part of this Legendary Journey.
Nothing about tossing mats in the Mystic Casino tempts me towards a Legendary.
Eeep, the guy I quoted edited, but I will let my statement stand.

Shrug. Anet can’t force me to do dungeons. I won’t do dungeons. Bluntly, after 10 years of various MMO’s and eternal DungeonFest in all games I hope to NEVER click a dungeon entry portal again.
I had, and still have some hope that they will keep the world engaging and fun. And maybe.. fix the drop rates of at least Champions and Vets.
I really don’t care. I would like to see some things not included in other spheres, PvP in PvE, mandatory Jump puzzles like scaffolds in Dredgehaunt to get a vista, but, its my game, I no longer care what I may be gated from, I am not doing anything I don’t find fun. My fun.
The only real “forcing” I am seeing is that loot drops in dungeons, and in the world they don’t seem to care that even Champions give 0 drops a majority of the time.

I’ve always liked games that let you set limits on #of high detail characters rendered, allow auto use of LOD meshes, and setting distance for LOD meshes to kick in.
Games have had these options for years. Along with particle slider, I am amazed that options like these are missing from the game.
Anyone Know whats that Guild Missions?
Is some type of Large PvE content for Guilds? or is you and 4 guild m8s collect mats or kill 10mobs ?
If is the second, i think that we all do that already…
Team Up for Guild Missions
Join your fellow guild members to take on an entirely new category of content! These missions, designed for coordinated group play, include everything from bounties to group puzzles to cross-country challenges. You’ll need to work together to complete the missions and earn new Guild Merits, which can unlock cool upgrades and rewards. It pays to be in a guild!
Who knows. Im assuming instanced somewhere, since you would think the content would be limited to Guild members only. I have no idea.
It is not a gear treadmill. Yet. The simple fact is, this short into the life of the game, they have added both Gear and Dungeon progression. You can argue the means of acquiring the gear, but, Progression is already a fact.
And neither happened over the entire life of GW1 to date.. and it’s something I was surprised to find shoehorned into their “Design Manifesto” for this game.
I’m neither pro, or con. Just, for myself, after 10 years of Dungeons in various places, nothing is getting me into one here. Nothing. So.. don’t need the gear, whatever happens.

Agreed. I logged in last week to AoC, and they had added that, the ability to quest for other racial dances.
Its a nice little fun bit of Fluff.
All I have today is, I kind of stumbled over the Champion Reef Shark in Southsun. After a long, iffy, “go go heal cooldown” kind of battle, I managed to solo it.
And watched with crushing disappointment, again, that for what I considered an accomplishment for my noob self, I got.. nothing. Literally, nothing.
I won’t ever fight it again. Is that the intention?

This topic has to be kept alive. Underwater today on my Ranger, targeting my pet, yellow crabs, yellow jellyfish, missing Barracuda adds chewing on my posterior because of it, frustrating. The all axis combat underwater makes this even worse than it is on land.
