“Lock Auto Target” does NOT detarget at all…

Orly? I use it all the time just for that function, it works just fine. If it doesn’t work for you, you’re not doing it right, simple as that. It works every single time for me, and others.

I have it bound to my ALT key. I just tap the ALT key and voila – target dropped, instantly. Do NOT keep the key pressed.

What would you suggest to put into spectator mode, Kapranos?

In my opinion, an effective spectator mode is the first step to get the community more involved into PvP.
People could see how others are playing, and/or watch certain interesting teams/players just for pleasure. The community may get better at PvP and it could draw more people/teams into competitive gameplay because spectating is a way of discovering things that someone’s not necessarily used to, or it may give ambitions.

Also, more people watching might draw more attention toward gw2’s PvP and this is essential for an E-Sport wannabe-game. More attention equals more sponsors/visibility in the gamer community/more will to create PvP teams/play PvP.

Now getting to the point :
Currently if you want to watch games; players recording their game is the closest to a proper spectator mode because there is no way to watch a match in-game (except private arena). Of course there is a spectator mode but a few vital points are missing :

-You should be able to spectate random ranked games going on at that moment (with players of high MMR)
-You should be able to spectate a friend playing ranked/unranked (other than private arena)
-You should be able to watch (in game) a tournament that is going on at that time
[Of course, with a slight delay to prevent cheating.]

These points would make the spectator mode good enough to be used.



N.B. : Things like free camera, etc. are just cherries on the cake and even if it would be nice, these aren’t vital things for a “proper” spectator mode.

P.S. I’m not perfect I may forget points, also excuse me for my english.

Not any game, but usually you can spectate “high mmr” games or friend games

I somehow, somewhere agree for deleting celestial amulet. There are no viable builds except for the OP cele necro and ele builds.

Necro is too tanky while dashing too much condi pressure while ele does it even better, but both too high to be “hybrids”.

If you want more people to PvP, simply making you able to queue from anywhere could go a long way.
In my experience, going to HotM, joining queue, waiting around for several minutes not being able to do anything stimulating in the meantime is borderline insulting.
To have this gorgeous game with all the things to explore and then forcing me to sit in some instanced, dull, greyish zone waiting for a PvP match that doesnt even take 20 minutes is a stupid design decision that only leads to creating a wall between “PvPers” and “PvEers”.

build templates really every profession have 1 or god bless 2 viable builds,how long you need to change build 5 sec tops but ok
game balanced!!? well yes if you delete mesmer stealth ages protection heal bots! and profession stacking +1

Warrior, guardians, rangers, engineers have more than 1 viable build and as multiclasser, its hard to memorize every single build/trait/sigil/rune.

Build Templates were in GW1, should be in GW2 aswel imo.

Added: More communication through forums, certainly on Thief & Ranger forum, where I noticed no red posts for tons of pages whereas all other classes do have red posts within first 10 pages.

I felt this was very necessary to mention because its literally so sad those 2 classes specifically are not getting any love.

Thief example: They promised 10% heal increase for +3s increase cd, but only increase cd at balance patch. They never increased healing. Many posts were made about = 0 response nor action.

Ranger example: Taunt is beyond broken and should be reworked but still strong enough to keep rangers in the game. Many posts made about it = 0 response

Other class example: One is asking a question what would happen when 2 Shiro Revs do the sword evade sword, the Dev is quick enough to answer it (despite answering with a joke).

I feel abbadoned as a Thief due lack of communication in Thief forums.

Nope! I agree with the OP. at least in Rank, should be no class stacking. Only 1 of each should be allowed per team. This creates a more balance team vs team. At least in the 5 vs 5 comps.

This might be a valid suggestion for both of you:

Tournaments (WTS/ToL/ESL/AG/AspektGG): no class stacking
Ranked: no class stacking
Unranked: max 2 same classes (max 2 players)
Hotjoin: max 2 same classes (max 4 players)
Custom Arena; no limit.

I think tournaments doesnt need any class stacking regulation, people there know enough about comps, and so unranked an hotjoin, cause people is not try-harding there, so it doesnt matter. Maybe with rankeds a max of 2 of the same class can help to avoid unwanted comps (see 4 necros or something like this), but I cant totally agree at all about your point of view of class stacking when we only have 8 choices…

Well having 3-4 eles in any tournament can already be pretty deciding. Some top players agree (like helseth) having class stacking regulations would help the scene alot, and I agree.

Even though there are only 8 classes, all of them are viable enough to compete.
Whether or not that’s true can be discussed in another thread but stacking ruins alot of balancing.

Yes, but then what we have is huge balance problem, not a class stack problem. oRNG in the last WTS stacked guard and warr (frae switching), and nobody complained. The problem isnt the class stack, cause you can stack different builds from a same class or even stack two same builds when you need their role in you comp. We dont have to limit different class builds or comp’s synergy cause bad balance, what we have to do is claim for a proper balance.

What about SoloQ’ing and ending up with 3 thieves in your team while other team has very sustainable comp?

This results in automated loss.. Im not only speaking about class stacking to win, Im speaking about class stacking in general..

A killshot can easily be dodged with one dodge.
RF cannot be dodged with 1-2 dodges, as it damages longer than the evasion time on 1 dodge.

yes allow duelling in HoTM.

In fact duelling should be allowed everywhere so we can test our WvW builds also without all this roaming around and bowing cr*p while trying to avoid gank squads in WvW.

You’ll ave Guild Halls for that, where you can duel with your PvE gear on afaik

Well, no. It means more ppl will come into HoTM to either queue or as u said, duel 1v1’s. This alone will attract ppl to come watch in HoTM and might keep them in HoTM in the future and have them PvP.

If you give ppl something to do while queue’ing, its definately more fun to queue.

Right now we already have 1v1 servers so it would basically stay the same, however 1v1 arena in open-air HoTM would certainly be cool to watch.

I dont believe it would. Its due those facts mentioned above the PvP community is really small compared to other PvP communities.

If we would implent all changes said above, you’ll see old players return, more competitive scene and more players will stay in PvP.

This can only result in better matchmaking, because there are more ppl to pick from.

Most of the original suggestions seem quite reasonable but you have hit the nail on the head here – namely the pvp community is really small.

When the game as a whole has a healthy player base, why is it that so few people want to play unranked and ranked pvp?

Answer and address that issue and then and only then will things improve.

It will already help alot with the listed things, tbh. And maybe lean towards GW1 PvP a bit since it came to my attention alot of veterans loved GW1 PvP and would love to see this back. I never played GW1 but it sure does sound awesome.

I experienced something similar 2 mounths ago. Everyone can see me but can’t touche me, i cant decap, cap neither, i can’t skill exxcept F1 F2 F3 F4 (i play mesmer if ur wondering).

All in all, I got to say the balance is overal fine compared to other mmo’s despite some OP spikes here and there. I wanted to make this list for ArenaNet so they get my overall view on the matter what should change drastically and what (top) players would love to see aswel.

  • Queue’ing outside of HoTM: waiting 5-20mins is a real pain and might be one of the reasons stopping players to PvP. Let us 1v1 and/or Map Completion w/e meanwhile
  • No action/change inside HoTM; as another post said HoTM is not really fun and gives us nothing but AFK’ing while waitin for queue pop
  • NEW: Stuck in Queue pop window: Why did you ever implent this? As it wasn’t worse enough to be stuck in HoTM AFK’ing till queue pops, now we can’t even continue what we were doing when queue pops
  • Class Stacking in Matches: Should not be allowed anymore if we aim for more balanced matches. This should also be the case in (Un)ranked and hotjoin. To clarify as alot of people dont understand this: 3 thieves in your team results in automated loss while having 3-4 eles will make your team win.
  • Give us what you promised: the bi-weekly balances are nowhere to be seen, aside from very minor fixes to tooltips. Nerf/Buf faster and see the PvP Community grow
  • Re-think matchmaking formula: letting low MMR play with high MMR players is far from a working system
  • Re-think matchmaking system: split SoloQ and TeamQ ASAP. Premades vs Soloq’rs is NEVER fair. As Helseth proposed back in April, make a seperate queue for teams only, perhaps. (watch the first 15mins of the vid linked,where he rants about matchmaking)
  • Boot Camp: Have low ranked ppl play with other low ranked untill they reach a certain rank
  • Report Options: There are close to none pvp related report options as exploiting and/or AFK’ing/griefing. AFK’ers should be dealth with
  • Build Templates: Those should be ingame since BETA. Ppl are forced using other character slots for total different builds they cant 100% remember while multi-classing.
  • Important Bug Fixes: should be one of your priorities. Mid-air immob is killing loads of players and destroying certain matches, no idea why its getting ignored or not even responded about it on the threads
  • More PvP events/HoTM buffs
  • More PvP exclusivity (like what comes with HoT badges and legendary backpack)
  • More communication through forums, certainly on Thief & Ranger forum, where I noticed no red posts for tons of pages whereas all other classes do have a red post within first 10 pages.
  • More spectator options: able to spectate a guildies or friends (Un)ranked would be really nice, with a delay ofcourse.
  • Map Overlook: As another thread clearly stated, the symbols of the points are a bit too big/wrong color. The class symbols fighting on the point can be barely seen. A change would be beneficial to have a better view where your mates/opponents are (maybe different colors?)

Evan Lesh quote: "Ranked will always have higher wait times than unranked because it has a smaller population of players. The only way to compensate is to make worse matches. This will be a different story when Leagues start though "

..another “nerf ele” thread , like there are not already dozen of them…sometimes I wonder if people buy games just to have forum accounts but more than anything why playing something that makes you that angry and salty? Games are meant to be fun, if you’re not having fun, buy another product and leave for good

If ppl play ele to faceroll and AFKwin, there’s no need to play this game either, is there?

the joke is devs did implement suggestions from the thief nerf wishlist which was made as a joke…. they might take this one actually seriously as well based on their past actions~

When you enter those AG and ESL tournaments the most important thing is winning all the even fights no matter the classes.

No.. The most important thing is winning the even fights with the right classes.
That’s what rotations are all about. You got map rotations & class rotations inside the map rotations, which most ppl dont rly get yet. Certainly when playing with other SoloQ’ers.

Ele + Warr vs Thief + Engi. Who do u think has the biggest chance of winning?

Exactly.

Also, AG and ESL are NOT SoloQ.

I was talking about SoloQ experience.
Team Experience is something else because you can call for help through TS from anyone else.

As you know, ArenaNet is looking for some videos which contains guild recruitment for their Event.

As guildleader of the oldest and open EU PvP Guild [YuM], I feel its time we should have a video recruitment video!

Although, my video editing skills are far off my PvP skills.

So I’m looking for someone who can make a ~ 30s video as recruitment/advertisement for our PvP Guild.

This needs to be done and sent to me before 30th of August.

To talk about the 2v2 resulting in 1v2 due mesmer leaving.

I think I can give you some insight about that:

The thing is; experienced mesmers/thieves in SoloQ learned the hard way that trying to even the fights as their own(making 2v2), mostly results in a loss.

Mesmers/thieves are made to +1 only. If you end up, like your situation, in a 2v2, its most likely smarter for the mesmer/thief to disengage and +1 somehwere else, unless someone else of your team is smart enough to see this situation on the map and react by coming.

Looking at this further; if there was a 2v2, normally someone else like an Engi/Ele/Necro/Warr should have taken the mesmer place to get a more equal 2v2 and the mesmer could stay to actually +1 that fight.

I’m by far not a pro on thief but I mostly disengage from 2v2’s aswel, expecting someone else who can actually stand on a point will take over from me while I go decap or +1.

If you happen to see this; a mesmer/thief leaving you in 1v2, it means he already knows its a loss (granted he’s experienced).

Never ever assume being in a 2v2 with you as warr and a thief (or mesmer) next to u, its safe to say you’re going to win that 2v2. Because you’re basically the only one who can stand/contest the point while thief/mesmer cant.

Certainly when fighting warr/engi – warr/ele – ele/necro – necro/warr etc etc.

All the above can be ignored if: one of the enemies is a thief/mesmer himself.
Then a mesmer/thief from your team CAN even the fight in the 2v2 on its own.

Dont always assume ppl who are disengaging 2v2’s are noobs; because alot of experienced SoloQ DPS’ers actually do that because they know its lost already and wouldnt be wise to stay longer.

What has Hotjoin got to do with is, though?

If you’re talking about Hotjoin, there is no “Solo’ers vs Premade” there because those are random matches, made for ppl who just want to kill and/or practice.

Unranked and Ranked are not Hotjoin, at all.

Chosing a Sigil which only removes 1 certain boon is quite bad:

  • you’re basically sacrificing 1 of the 4 sigils you can equip on something that only would be viable vs 2/3 builds in the whole Conquest scene. For just a removal..

But if that sigil would be a transfer sigil instead of removal (which means all might transfered to you) with a 9s CD, I think THAT would be worth the sacrifice of a Sigil Slot and will keep things in line.

Ele and Warrior can easily stack might again within those 9seconds. And yes, they’ll lose it again (granted the attack landed).

Eles might see problem in this but its exactly the same as the only window we have to burst ele down is only 9 seconds aswel (after Water Attunement).

So that would be a fair trade-off

I would stick with the original over this because what would most likely happen is eles and w/e could just stop running battle and pick this up. So they would also be one of those who just steals might from others and stays at high stacks and if you were a class that didnt natrually stack might and ran this rune. they would just immidatly take back what you stole.

Understandable, but then we still have to figure out what kind of sigil we want.

Maybe one that procs when you go stealth? Maybe one that proc when you immobilize your foe? Something Eles cant do every single time with 100% success rate
