You could play by yourself in unranked and be far less likely to meet premades and not have the frustration of losing pips.
So your solution is to let SoloQ players be punished, not letting them play in Leagues?

Which also means ppl who are just brainlessly farming divisions without any knowledge of pvp will get in your team.
Which is why I was in my biggest losing streak, stuck with ppl who had no clue whatsoever about pvp.

SoloQ’ers have been thrown into the gutter. Higher Divisions can only be achieved by premades. Which is very discriminating to people who can’t go in a team due r/l time and/or want to play alone on their own rules.
January 19 is Blade & Soul release, be ready to lose alot of PvP players, Anet.
It’s going to be F2P (no P2W, they get their money off many costumes) and servers in both NA and EU.
Atleast they are working towards E-sports without jeopardizing big parts of the community.
(at 4:38 you see how a small tournament in Korea is actually so much bigger than any GW2 ESL Tournemant is ever going to get)
It’s sad you never listened to the real wishes of PvP; including 1v1 / 3v3 arenas and having SoloQ system back..

+1, half of the times the downed player isnt even stomped when stomping with Quickness and we need to re-do the stomping..
I also am worried about losing 2 transmutation charges as I change look alot. Would rather keep them
Not to be mean about the situation, but what about having to just not changing a lot for like a month or so? Build up the charges a little so when you feel the need you have them. On avg, you get 3 a month from daily, yeah not a lot i know, on top of how ever amount you earn in pvp for the week.
as a joke, you could farm for new charges with a new character, lol.
The thing is its not like Im changing every week but I do have 13-14 characters, so if you count everything up.. :p

Considering the DD is acrobatics only… better. Merge it with acro and make a new elite spec. There’s still time, and it is what Anet should do.
Keep in mind I am not saying DD is bad per se, I am saying that we already had it, just a less cool more functional version of it.

Dare Devil seems fun but as we all know (including ppl playing other classes) Dare Devil is not going to be viable if it’s going to stay like this. Or atleast not as good as current d/p meta.

First of all, I really love the new animation on Dash though.. Feels alot better now.
- Debilitating Arc: an increase to the dropback range would be a good idea. It feels a bit too short as some ppl running forward (towards u) auto attacking still hit u next attack. Maybe increase it to 600 range?
- Auto attack is awesome atm, it feels alot better
- Weakening Charge: became better working like heartseeker.
- Dust Strike: its much better now, this feels like blinding from dagger offhand, certainly needed the increase in casting time
- Vault: Aaaah, I do feel it became slightly better but still lacks something. It’s very easy to dodge and does cost 5 ini. I would suggest adding an evade here because it doesnt feel like Dare Devil can sustain fights 1v1 as other classes can due running out of dodges/ini quite fast with staff (since we got no stealth on it, so we cant quite position well)
I very much appreciate the hard work on DD Karl, I really notice the huge differences compared to prev Beta. Just some tweaks here and there, and should be good.
I’m not quite sure if we will see DD in the meta, though. Atleast not as Marauder.
But its certainly something different to play other than d/p for so long.
I see potential but its not quite on the level as other specializations just yet, we’re getting there!

I already tried multiple times but you’ll have ppl in a few hours say “what they showed on stream is never final”. Which is somewhere true but there was no communication from Anet to say “hey, we’re not gonna buff Withdraw”.
As of this moment, after months, still no word about it.
As far as it’s feels, they’re letting Thief die, despite their hard work on Dare Devil..
Animation update: All dodge animations are in the process of being iterated on. With that being said, in the next Beta weekend each custom dodge ability has had its animation replaced with what is called a ‘stub’, or a placeholder.
These stubs aren’t necessarily what the final animation will look like and may not even resemble the final product remotely (Huge disclaimer: Everything’s subject to change). However, we needed to replace the previously existing animations due to issues that couldn’t be resolved otherwise (i.e. Lag).We are looking forward to the new functionality, but there’s a few pains that we’re getting through. During the next beta weekend, you’ll find that the Leap combo finisher for Bounding Dodger only works if you land inside a field. This is not intended and we’re already working on the fix for it (it’s in testing now). For now, it’s going to be trickier to get your leap finisher from Black Powder. There’s also a bug in the skill facts that indicate that it delivers a blast finisher, but it in fact a leap and will remain as such.
Other stuff:
As I talked about last update, Channeled Vigor’s now being tested as a 0.75 second cast (down from 2.25 seconds). We’re also toying with the endurance/healing values. The role of this heal is shaping more toward being high spike healing for the thief.-Karl

My only concern now is the running animation.
Atm it looks like we’re holding something heavy, like a Hammer when running in combat-mode.
I honestly believe (and so do many others in this thread) the running animation should change, making it look like we’re holding something more light, as a Staff.
Running forward while holding our staff back with one hand is a typical Staff Martial Arts run and would love to see something like that.

Honestly, Guild Wars 2 is by far one of the best balanced games, despite some issues.
The real problem is the time it takes for Anet to fix it.
When hoT hits, it will “only” take every 4 months for a balance patch, which is better than nothing but still too long, imo.
The OP burning is already here 2-3 months but feels like forever..
They should be visible while in lobby and match (atleast if it doesnt disturb aiming/clicking target)

Basically we’re all stoked about having Guild Teams.
However, how will this work when it comes to representing?
My PvP guild has about 3-5 teams running for AG and/or daily pvp.
When they make a “Guild Team” with their own name once HoT lands, will they still actually represent the main PvP guild? And will our tag still be visible on their names?
Will it be 2 tags; Team tag and Guild Tag?

This basically reverts it back to what it was before June 23 and d/d ele wasn’t even used in most top teams back then lol.
News Flash: every top team had an ele once Celestial Amulet got buffed. Surely u didnt forget about WTS 1 and 2, did you? Those were pre-June aswel.

Okay. You step out of the blind field. Now, you are out of melee range and can’t hit him. Now the solution is to switch to a range weapon. The thief can simply just use heart seeker to be immune to your ranged projectiles. Then, he can go around and back stab you. Then you can’t do dps because he is behind you. Now, he dropped another blind field forcing you to get out of that.

average seems to be 1month+/2months. sometimes its even 3 months i think.
Average is normally between 2-4 weeks.
Although keep in mind last couple of months ArenaNet had alot of stuff to do.
The one distributing the prizes (Grouch) has been doing alot of stuff for WTS and now probably the upcoming TwitchCon.
Not to mention the release happening in about a month
What Tournament was it?
It can take up to a few weeks before the prizes are distributed.

I’m experiencing huge lagspikes last 2 weeks anywhere in the game.
The spikes durations are sometimes 5-10seconds and after I’m finding myself downed.
Ping sometimes shoots up to 2000 – 4000ms for couple of seconds.
I know lag can happen sometimes but last 2 weeks has been torture for me as I even get dc’d from the server midst a PvP match and/or huge lagspikes next to it.
Last huge lagspike happened around 16:00CEST (7:00AM PDT) in a PvP match.

We’ve been pigeonhold into d/p far more than the Ele being held in D/D.
not true. back when d/d ele came up which is over a year ago thieves still played s/d. even back around the time pre celestial d/d ele thieves played s/d, some of them even double s/d if anybody remembers jumper.
so over time thieves had better success and build diversity than eles.
1. s/p quickness meta
2. s/d meta + s/p before nerf
3. d/p + s/d both played
4. d/pwhile for ele it was
1. s/d or d/d soldier/valk
2. s/f fresh air when they killed some traits and the heal. zoose was pretty much the only one trying to play it in na tournaments, maybe phantaram aswell but it don’t remember it that much. there were no eles in tournaments for like a year, hello ranger.
3. d/d or staff while d/d was simply better
4. d/dthief was never out of meta while ele was for almost a year.
i won’t say that i’m happy about how they pigeonhole thief or ele into what they are and always have been but imo thief was overall more viable during the 3 years. it might be a coincidence but.. after all we share the same dev.
I’m sorry but while s/d was still a thing on thieves, so was Staff Ele. It wasn’t only d/d on ele. On NA, s/d (f) Fresh Air was also a thing.
Thieves only had 1 build in the meta, either d/p, s/d or s/p.
But never more than 1 build was considered meta.
While Ele had Staff [ELE], d/d [TCG](and NA had Fresh Air by Zoose back then).
Right now its only d/d ele and d/p thief but thief always only had 1 build in the meta, unlike eles.

Mesmer: Outside of the mantra of distraction mirror blade mind wrack build you generally were outplayed through kiting.
You forgot one of the most hated builds for Mesmer and probably the whole game as well.
You mean the condi PU build that you can beat with 0 cleanses by dodging the only 2 threatening attacks?
I am way more fearful of all burst builds than PU condi Mesmer.

I don’t know why thieves are surprised to receive such firm opposition to their demands for more sustain; they possess already the most annoying, frustrating mechanic ever designed in a MMO : stealth. Their demands become even more ridiculous as they refuse for great part to give up on their access to stealth.
If I’d be you I’d wait to ask anything, it’s crazy to think that mesmers will be left the way they’re now and you don’t want to be there with them when kitten train will hit with its full force
Why would we give up our access to stealth? Just so u know, asside from Blinding Powder and Steal, we need to combo skills/watse ini/be vulnearable to go in stealth.
Mesmers only need to press 1 button, they got better access than us, but less overall.

It’s shocking how many people think that SB #5 should disqualify thieves from being able to do anything -but- port, and even more shocking how people shy away from taking as valid any claims that other classes can be just as mobile without also being trash at 1v1.
And for those of you regurgitating the “But thief is used in hi tier tournaments so it must be fine!” Stop it. That’s stark false cause. Thief being used in any respect does not mean it is fine at all.
Thing is, the meta thief build as it is can’t have more sustain, top players are already calling it unkillable unless they make mistakes. If you mean non meta builds, i agree.

It’s in good shape in terms of conquest, still. Although it needs more nerf depends on who play the thief itself. Tips? Play the Trait System and look for yourself how wonderful it is.
More nerfs? It actually is in a dire need of buffs.

I will add Unrelenting Assualt:
- Should not be able to teleport along to ledges. They requires specific teleports to get there, UA shouldnt follow even up there. Damage does hurt but I think its fine.
UA is beyond OP, how can u call it weak? It even follows when target is going onto a ledge. The burst is beyond amazing right now. I feel Revenants are fine now damage-wise.
